Great local pub that's recently undergone a restoration & the place is a real rabbit warren of rooms all tidy & I'm sure fun with the right crowd.
Basic but well kept beers & a good looking restaurant menu too although has a very "local shop" vibe.
Definitely worth checking although it has
Unique little café with friendly staff. Two of us had the breakfast and one had a toasted sandwich. The breakfast was very good, free range eggs and delicious chipolatas sausages, which we were told were made by the butcher over the road. The toastie, brie and cranberry, was served with a little salad and locally made crisps was also excellent. Will go again.
We had a beautiful lunch today.
There was 3 of us in our party, each ordered something different, the food was outstanding, all clearly cooked fresh to order. Large portions well presented and oh so tasty.
Thoroughly recommended, and the menu is always being updated with specials too.
During our stay in Suffolk we visited The Shannon on several occasions for a drink, always great. Our last night we had a meal which was truly worth the wait. Lovely pub great staff
Excellent food. Great service. Well worth a visit. We visited again yesterday (May 13) but it was closed because new management were taking over (again !). My review may no longer be valid, in that case.
Visited Orford on a day trip as seemed to be a popular spot with nice decor. Ordered two sandwiches one a bagette type a one on normal bread. Both sandwiches were not wrapped fully so we assumed were freshly made. We also ordered a sausage roll and two teas. This came to around 25 pounds which I thought was expensive for what we got. The sandwiches were both lacking in filling and both on stale bread making them almost inedible. The tea was fine and the sausage roll although extortionate at 5 pounds fifty was pleasant. I would recommend you stick to the cakes and pastries and expect to pay through the nose.
The butcher down the alleyway across the road does a better sandwich on bloomer bread for 2 pounds fifty if you are price conscious like us.
Service was very average and insincere from the young staff.

The vegan fry up was pretty disappointing. 1 sausage and 1 hash brown and were the mushrooms meant to be fried?
Filthy tables, plates removed but not even a wipe of all the spilt sauce and sugar.
Nice spot to sit in the sun.
Thankfully we found several places serving a vegan fry up that were much better value for money!
Lovely food, very reasonable and very welcoming staff. Lauren was particularly helpful. The atmosphere was really good, the parking easy and accessible as was the restaurant and pub generally. We will definitely visit again!
Why not train your bar staff properly, the ale went off but could not serve as my boss is on his break, served a martini as 25ml should be 50ml but when I questioned it they said not, so I left. Your measures should be as per the law.
Staying locally for a few days we do have our tried and tested favourite places to eat, but we always try to find different ones for a change.
Checking online The Sorrell Horse was only a short drive away and so we booked in advance by phone with a man who came across straight away as friendly and welcoming.
On arrival straight away you could feel the friendly vibe.
The pub/restaurant is very clean and the Landlord and his one assistant worked very hard whilst at same time providing a homely feel. A great choice of ales on offer and all at very good prices.
The menu provided good options of British food and coming from an area that does not provide it o was chuffed to see Rock Eel on the menu, I just had to have it and was not disappointed.
Portions are plentiful so I shared a Belgium waffle with two scooped of ice cream / caramel sauce for dessert.
A really enjoyable evening of food and hospitality… we will return again.
Boy is of the evening was the lighting of a VE 80 years beacon at the rear of the pub.
Great atmosphere
This was our first time trying various items on the menu (ribs, wings, chicken club, etc).
It was a late afternoon, on a Saturday, and we didn’t order in advance (our fault), so we had to wait about an hour for our order. It was definitely worth the wait.
It was delicious!!!
Don’t let the exterior of the building fool you: it was a clean, well organized establishment.
