I stayed at the Kettleburgh Chequers for a weekend and had an absolutely wonderful stay! Room was beautifully decorated and clean. Staff were attentive and friendly and food was excellent. I was really pleased to see so many interesting vegan options on the menu. We ate both nights we stayed and everything we ordered was delicious!! Will definitely be visiting again and recommending to friends.

High Standards The Kettlesburgh Chequers has very high standards. My bedroom was absolutely beautiful, interesting and exceptionally clean. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Our evening meal was delicious, while food cooked well. I can’t wait for my next visit in March 2025

Very good food but servers need to be more attentive, we needed to order drinks ourselves at the bar and it probably because they were a little busy than usual! There were only 3 tables though!

From arrival to departure we felt very comfortable. Unfortunately the navigation system took us through a Harry Potter forest until we got to the hotel. When we got there we were warmly welcomed and after a quick check-in we went to dinner. This was fantastic and the wine and whiskey selection was also excellent. The hotel and the restaurant appear to be newly renovated and very lovingly furnished. Charlotte surprised us with some goodies at breakfast and we were already sad when we had to leave. We will definitely come back.

Stayed the night accommodation was comfortable and clean. The pub is in a lovely setting and is very tastefully decorated with a great range of beers and wines. Sadly the food was very disappointing, when you order a prawn starter for £9 and it appears within a couple of minutes you start to wonder. The truffle mushroom arancini was a fried ball of something that tasted ok but not much sign of mushrooms and even less evidence of truffle. The main course of "rump" lamb was a few pieces of fatty and gristly meat and the pad Thai was tasteless and greasy. Such a shame this had all the potential but badly let down by a kitchen more interested in speed over quality. I might add the lady who looked after us was nothing but pleasant and helpful but overstretched because she seemed to be doing everything for everybody.

The interior and decor are lovely and service was good. Clearly there has been a huge investment renovating this pub. However, upon arrival on a Saturday at 7pm the semi empty car park (compared with pub down the road in Easton which was heaving) should have triggered warning bells! The prawn curry was tasty but more like a broth sered with rice, the flat bread was greasy and inedible. The fried chicken dish was overcooked, dry and not nice. Such a shame... An expensive dinning disaster :-( ...

Only popped in for a drink as staying local and only 15 minute walk with dogs. Gorgeous traditional country pub with good selection of beers. Food menu looked really nice and the food we saw looked very scrumptious with good sized portions. Polite friendly bar staff, very cosy seating areas. Will go back for food. If in the area its well worth a visit. We went back 2 days later, couldn't resist! Can honestly say food is very, very good, mini grek chicken kebabs for starters, fried chicken with chips, sweetcorn and coleslaw and pulled pork with fennel ragu. All was excellent, highly recommend.

We have visited this pub several times before since it has reopened and the food has always been ok. One of my friends ordered the chicken burger and chips, when it arrived he took a couple of bites and found it was completely raw inside! We complained to a member of staff who said sorry and said they would take it away and re cook it. They offered a drink on the house which my friend excepted. We will not be going back in a hurry.

Booked a night's stay at this "inn" last week (via Booking.com) as I was working in Framlingham Monday morning. Drove down for 4 hours on Sunday afternoon, arrived at 7:30pm to find the place completely closed! Not a single member of staff on the site and not a car in the car park! Had to follow signs into Framlingham (to find a phone signal) and then eventually found a small B&B. If not for that, I would have been sleeping in my car that night! Really bad.

Stayed here for one night for a family birthday meal. First time in Kettleburgh. Sue was very helpful and friendly. The food was seriously good. Calamari to start (nice and moist) and Kerala prawn curry for main (incredibly tasty spices). The room was a cute cabin in the rear garden. Nicely decorated and very spacious. Triple bifold doors from the living/bedroom area opened into a woodland and fields. Great view to wake up to and you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. The decor of the pub was delightful and fresh as it had apparently been renovated quite recently. The restaurant was full on the Saturday night and I’m not surprised why. Well worth the journey to get there.

Friends and I popped i to refuel half way through our cycling session. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (even to the point of lending me some reading glasses to read the menu!) We all had pancakes and the chef was very accommodating and gave me mine with fruit, despite it technically not being on the menu. My friends had a mix and match of pancakes and halloumi. The pub is exceptionally clean and the tables are spaced out, ensuring privacy. The toilets are equally clean, always important! I would say the pancakes were just on the edge of being pricey but, you know, they were tasty so that’s money well spent. The Sunday lunch menu looked interesting especially for vegetarians so I dare say we will return, although not in our Lycra.

We have known this pub for several decades and loved it but this was our first visit under the fairly recent new ownership. We were absolutely blown away by the refurbishment, it looks like it has had literally hundreds of thousands of pounds spent on it. Very, very swish! The decor and furnishings really are sumptuous and I particularly loved the loos, which are a massive improvement on years gone by. Outstanding decor throughout. We just popped in for coffee as had half an hour to kill and were interested to see the changes that had been made. So it was a very positive experience overall. The only two downsides for me were that a) they don't accept cash, which I feel is discriminatory and b) although it's absolutely beautiful, it no longer really feels like a village pub.

We had the Easter Sunday roast today which was delicious. We have high expectations for roasts and have often been disappointed but not here. We had tornado prawns to start which were crispy and had a dipping sauce to die for.. For mains two had the beef and one the lamb. We all agreed our meals were delicious and piping hot. The gravy was thick and full flavoured, the veg selection fresh and the cauliflower cheese one of the best I've had. Well done everyone for a lovely experience. The staff were all friendly and we can't wait to come again. We didn't take photos unfortunately as we were too busy eating! My husband and son shared the biscoff white chocolate mousse which they both loved. There's also a great selection of beers on tap.

Absolutely stunning food. We’d been meaning to try the Chequers out for over a year and managed to get the last table left for Mother’s Day for my husband and I and our 1 year old daughter. Every single course was cooked to perfection - succulent king prawns to start, followed by the best roast beef I’ve ever tasted and that is saying something and finally the most unctuous chocolate brownies - Perfection! Your Chef is extremely talented and we can’t wait to return to try your other menu items. Service was outstanding, drinks offered when glasses were empty and checking everything was ok with food and letting us know our puddings were waiting when our toddler decided to walk off! It was so also so lovely to see so many different age groups. So welcoming and we couldn’t believe how spacious it is. Felt most at home and we cannot wait to come back at Easter - it’s our new favourite place and we wish we lived in Kettleburgh because you’ve created an amazing place for the community - top marks! :-)

A friend and I popped into the Chequers ( for me the first ever visit ) on a Wednesday lunch time. The decor of the pub was superb. The barmaid / waitress was very friendly and her service was excellent too. There were a couple of local beers on tap together with several of the other usual well known brands. We both ordered a chicken Thai curry from the specials board. The flavours were superb. The only minor criticism was that it came in a soup bowl type dish with some rice mixed into the bowl. It would have been better to have a side dish of rice and more of it. On the food menu there were lots of choices as well as on the specials board. Would I come and eat here again.... Yes. Definitely..... A bonus is the beer garden, although not in January, which extends down to the River Deben. Loved the urinals too. ( The men's toilets were spotless )

Visited here for lunch for my mother in law's birthday. First time visiting since the refurb. Lovely job has been done modernising the place. Good drinks selection and simple modern British gastro pub menu. Food was excellent and enjoyed by all. Some of the portions slightly on the small side (a single roast potato with my mushroom wellington?) but would be harsh to downrate for this. Booking was a little inefficient and we had to call to follow up and check the booking but this is very minor and we had a great lunch so would definitely return.

We received a warm welcome in this recently refurbished pub. For starters we had duck pancakes, bruschetta and chicken wings. All the food was well presented and delicious. For mains we chose burgers and lamb rump. The burgers were served with coleslaw & plenty of fries. The lamb was really tender and came with dauphinoise potatoes and a variety of fresh vegetables. The pub is beautifully decorated inside. There is a large covered outside area and a garden leading down to the river. Sorry to say it was the worst breakfast I've had in the cafe. But if I pay £15.10 for coffee and full English I expect the highest standards. Bacan was so bad I couldn't even eat it. The picture says it all. Who would serve a customer food that looks like that. Lovely staff but all they did was apologised for the drop in standards.
