Lighthouse in Suffolk Coastal

First time visiting Aldeburgh and whilst all the independent restaurants (of which there are several) are lovely, this was by far the highlight of our weekend. Sam is the perfect host making everyone welcome from the moment you arrive. The food was outstandingly good. The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy. Only wish we lived nearer as we would be very regular customers!

Had a very enjoyable fish and chips dinner.

Party of 5 for a little school reunion. Wine list is amazing, food was on point and the atmosphere was brilliant. Sam, the owner was an expert host. We'll do it again sometime 👍

All the previous reviews name checking the fantastic and friendly service and wonderful food were all totally accurate. We thought we'd treat ourselves to lunch here to celebrate our anniversary. Our food was beautiful, I had a couple of oysters which tasted wonderfully fresh and meaty. We shared starters of hummus and taramasalata and the courgette soup both were delicious. Our mains of vegan mince and puy lentil chilli and pork loin fillet with boulangese potatoes were both superb and thoroughly enjoyed. We shared a tiramisu to finish things off perfectly. Both service and food were without fault, we're looking forward to going back again.

On entering your restaurant, it was very clear just how friendly you were, this being our first visit! And will most certainly not be our last. Staff, absolutely fantastic, chatty, a very good sense of humour, we love that! Apart from the size of my wife's handbag! Sam suggested I take her shopping! Lol! Anyway, the food was absolutely amazing, thank you. Loved the warm feeling throughout out lunch. A squid starter, a crayfish and prawn salad. Mains, fish, and chips with drinks! If I could give you 10 stars, I would without a doubt. Also the house gin is quality 👌 See you in two weeks Kindest, Clayton and Clare.

The moment we stepped into The Lighthouse we got a genuinely lovely warm welcome from Sam. The food was delicious (I had Sea Bass), the staff efficient and the whole atmosphere was excellent. There were obviously some regulars that Sam knew but this was our first time visiting and yet he was just as welcoming to us. It really made for a lovely evening. We will definitely return. My family and I came here for my birthday. It was an excellent time with the service being exceptional. All the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, although the curried parsnip soup whilst delicious was perhaps on the under-spiced side. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking and had a delicious deep flavour. The chocolate bread and butter pudding topped off the meal wonderfully. We did visit on a Thursday and so it was fairly empty as we sat upstairs but the decor of local art was delightful. I shall certainly be visiting again. Thank you for such a memorable experience.

We were recommended to eat at The Lighthouse on a two day break in Aldeburgh. Such a friendly restaurant with fantastic food. Sam , the owner, is out front, leading the service team throughout the evening.

What a delightful place. On a family oriented trip of eight people. Magnificent liver dish for me was the highlight. Plenty of menu choices for others in a very varied and imaginative menu. Also have a fabulous wine list. Service was excellent in all respects. A joy.

What a lovely little restaurant, I came with my parents for my Dad's birthday, we'd found this place purely by chance, so hadnt made any booking. They were very accommodating and fitted us in... I had the fish pie omg was the best fish pie I'd ever tasted 😋 the staff were so friendly and one them had clearly over heard me mention my Dad and his birthday as she headed over, at the end of our meal, with a candle in a chocolate singing Happy Birthday!! It was very unexpected but such a lovely touch.. oh also, very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend

Whilst on our annual holiday to Aldeburgh it’s an absolute must for us to dine here, at least once, usually a dinner and a lunch. This year with a number of reasons for us to celebrate, we didn’t need an excuse. Sam and his amazing front of house team always make us so welcome and the food is just incredible every time. We only wished we lived closer.

This must be one of the nicest restaurants in Aldeburgh and it was certainly one of the busiest and buzziest on a November Friday evening. Service was attentive and relaxed and the food was reliable and well prepared. Very good value for money we thought. Recommended but do book in advance.

We have been going to The Lighthouse for many years now and have never failed to be impressed. Sam, the owner and 'mine host' is wonderful. Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Serviced atmosphere are great. as to the food - it is really good, very fresh high quality ingredients, decent portion sizes and fair prices. - What more do you want! This time we had Fish Soup followed by the Chicken, Chorizo and Leek 'Pie' with new potatoes and peas. It was great. Will we go again - YES! - in fact we are already booked for Xmas eve and early new year!

5 years after my last review, it's still our favourite restaurant in Aldeburgh. The food is amazing and they still have the best sticky toffee pudding in the world, ever! The staff are lovely and welcoming, don't miss the opportunity if you're in Aldeburgh.

We went as a family for a meal for my birthday, staying in Aldeburgh for the weekend. It was a Saturday and they were very busy, but the host was so friendly and welcoming, and the staff attentive and efficient. We all had an excellent meal, and I would recommend the restaurant to anyone-just wish we lived nearer!

The Lighthouse is always spot on. Great menu choices and really pleasant staff.

Although the menu and most of the food was great, unfortunately, the two members of our party who ate the oysters were subsequently sick all night. The waitress was very intrusive, loud and overly jokey, apparently aiming to be the protagonist at all times (despite getting our order wrong) which marred our enjoyment of what, otherwise, would have been a lovely quiet midday meal.

This was our second visit, for our third anniversary... The table was beautifully decorated upon our arrival, the service impeccable with lovely attentive staff. The menu was extensive and the chosen plates were absolutely delicious. A wonderful evening - and dare I say.... good value too. See you next year!

We ate here three times during our weeks stay in Aldeburgh. Overall a great experince with good food, good service and a great atmosphere. We will return.

On a Tuesday night this restaurant was busy. The fish soup was excellent and for my main I combined the potted shrimps and smoked fish platter. A very friendly waitress and a nice relaxed atmosphere made it a lovely evening.

Visited on my father’s recommendation… Fantastic dining experience. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. They have a great vegetarian and vegan menu and are very accommodating to dietary requirements. I swapped my udon noodles for rice with no hassle. The waiting staff are incredibly attentive and the menu has so many delicious options. Such a lovely building styled beautifully. A special thanks to Sam and the team. Highly recommended!

Great lunch, with lovely food and good service. Reasonably priced and nice atmosphere (no piped music, thankfully). Dog friendly as well. Only went for lunch because dinner was fully booked for a week unless you wanted to eat late. Thank you to all the staff.

Visited with my partner in mid-September having seen all of the positive reviews. We weren’t disappointed - the food was very nice and the drinks, too. I can highly recommend the fish pie!

Visited for dinner this week and were warmly welcomed by the owner, and shown to our table upstairs. The menu had a wide range of options as well as dishes being listed on a specials board. The food and drinks were top tier with generous portion sizes. The Lighthouse is the best restaurant in Aldeburgh and I can highly recommend it.
