Nice informal cafe in lovely spot by the river in Woodbridge. We ordered four different breakfasts, with various special requests and dietary issues, and staff were very helpful in getting everything right. Our breakfasts came quickly and were very good; excellent vegetarian sandwiches and sautéed mushrooms. We would definitely visit again, looks like it would be great to sit outside on the terrace on warmer mornings

Very disappointing indeed….. We were told the kitchen was closed for lunch when we arrived at 2.20pm and so we could only have a sausage roll or cake… We were then told to pay up even though we were clearly in the middle of eating as the cafe closes at 3pm?? It appears that this establishment clearly doesn’t want to make any money on a busy August bank holiday weekend?? Come on if you want your business to survive please be more user friendly customer led and flexible…..

This is the old pavilion, run by a small team who are doing a limited menu really well. They're open 9am-3pm, but stop serving food at 2pm, so it's breakfast and lunch - the breakfast is served all day. It's great value at £5.50 - the sausage was the tastiest EVER - only found out afterwards that it's gluten-free too. They were so welcoming - not just to us but to our dog to - unasked they brought water and a cereal bar. There's lots of covered space outside and tables are well separated, but you can eat inside too

The time was 11:25 a.m. I asked an assistant for the menu only to be told “we have stopped serving breakfast”! I asked her for the lunch menu to be told “ we don’t start serving lunch until 12:00”! I then said “so you’re not serving food until 12:00” to which she said that’s right except for food on the counter (a few cakes and sausage rolls etc.) She came across a little abrupt and unsympathetic to be honest. We are quite regular customers here and I have to say we haven’t been treated like this before which took me by surprise.

We visited the Tea Hut as a family group of 9 for Fathers' Day having booked in advance. When we ordered we were told that it would be 35 minutes, which we thought was a bit excessive but were prepared to accept. In the event it took 50 minutes for my toast and honey to arrive. A few other meals turned up after 55 minutes and the final ones after an hour, by which time I'd almost finished mine. There was no apology at this stage for the ridiculous length of time it had taken to be served. The full breakfast arrived with no sausages which we had to ask for. Drinks had arrived fairly quickly so of course were drunk well before the food turned up. We had to entertain 2 young children during the interminable wait. Generally the food was OK, although overpriced. For example if you're going to charge £1 for a piece of toast it really ought not to be from a sliced loaf. Overall the bill came to over £70, and then to add insult to injury, we had to queue for 5 minutes to pay. It could be a really decent café but they're just not equipped to serve the number of table spaces available. Perhaps they should stick to tea and cake, which we really enjoyed last time we visited.

We had lunch here after visiting the boating pond and sat outside. A lovely location with nice shade so you can sit outside without getting too hot. Whilst the ice creams were good, lunch left a lot to be desired. 6 regular ice creams came to £23 (which on working out the maths later didn’t seem to tally up £3.833333 each?). My halloumi salad consisted of three very thin halloumi slices over a few salad leaves and 3 thin strips of roasted pepper. It was one of the most expensive items on the menu at £8 and wasn’t value for money at all-I still felt hungry afterwards. My brother had a toastie (I think £5.50) and it looked like kingsmill bread rather than fresh bakery bread with very little filling inside and a barely there side salad (more of a garnish). I would love to give this more stars but I seriously think the price and food quality needs to be reviewed. The saving grace was the ice cream (delicious!) and the hot and cold drink selection.

However, I really don't understand why there is the need to have bland music playing from speakers in all parts of the café - inside and out. Such a beautiful spot and this really spoils it. Maybe its a sign of my age but I just felt that it spoilt the whole ambience. If it is something that people like would it not just be possible for one of the side areas not to have a speaker churning out the music for those of us who like the quiet of a real beauty spot. My rating would have been much higher if it hadn't have been for the music and I am not sure I really want to return because of it.

I explored the historic Tide Mill before setting off on a walk along the river Deben, with a stop off at the Tea Hut which is on the banks of the river.

Like to go out for a great coffee and atmosphere. Nice location but don't like constant music, waitress constantly rearranging metal chairs ... and cappuccino tasted more like a packet. Dreadful!!!! Will not be returning.

Awesome coffee, sausage rolls to die for, lovely staff, great outlook over the boating pond. Not the cheapest but I don't mind when it's top notch 👍

Very clean, friendly staff, just the place for a cuppa after a walk along the estuary. Delicious cake - best date cake ever had. Lovely place to sit in the sun and watch a couple of people sail their remote controlled boats.

Quiet sit in the park, tea and cake. BUT that bloody music! Who would want to ruin such a pleasant place to sit with unwanted music. It would have been so much more pleasant if it was quiet and you could hear the birds. Didn't stop long - tea and cake ok

Good little spot for a coffee and cake! The flat white was smooth and strong enough to satisfy. We had a toastie which had plenty of bacon and luscious chunks of chicken and the lime and coconut cake was moist and the real highlight of the meal.

This does have the advantage of being dog friendly, so an extra star there, but for most other categories this is a disappointing experience. We were charged £17.20 for 2 rather pathetic cheese toasties and 2 drinks, the toasties had little in them and were barely toasted, and the salad accompaniment was a sad affair, consisting of a few leaves with a bit of dressing. The staff were very friendly but very young, I suspect a bit more experience in the kitchen would help, and a bit more quality control on the output would be even more welcome. More cheese in the sandwich, actually toast it properly, a decent handful of salad and some crisps on the plate would make all the difference, but maybe that would eat into the profits too much?

We went to Woodbridge looking for a dog friendly pub and The Tea Hut came up on our google search. As well as making our dog very welcome, we found the food exceptional and the staff very friendly. An absolute gem that we definitely return to.

Ha a small and a large breakfast here and it was amazing. Everything freshly cooked and tasted good. Served lovely and hot. A small place but very popular based on what we saw. Lovely and warm on a cold day with very friendly staff. Only issue was no parking outside. Would highly recommend.

Me and my wife have been coming here for a couple of years, usually for coffee and cake. The coffee is Paddy and Scott’s which is always amazing. Try the Persian Love cake which is delicious and surprisingly gluten free.

This was my second trip to the tea Hut as a new resident of Woodbridge but it will probably be my last. The food looks and sounds great generally....I went into Woodbridge solely to enjoy a warm lunch, cake and tea on a saturday afternoon at 2pm when they were not too busy. I asked the lady if I might be able to change some of the ingredients in my sandwich (due to medical issues). She said it was no problem, as she was confirming the order the chef appeared behind her and in a rue loud voice said " Whats the point of that?" I looked up to see the other server turn round looking embarassed and having to apologise for his behaviour, in fact she apologised several times as sis another server. I couldn't quite beleive my ears. So in a loud voice back i shouted into the kitchen that as a chef myself he should know better than to berate customers with allergies/special diets....it was appalling. How dare your staff embarass me/your own staff because I simply and politely request that no bacon and cranberry sauce be added to my sandwich and that cheddar cheese replace blue cheese? I asked first and was told there was no problem. I suggest your chef go and retrain some basic manners and kindly keep his opinions to himself. Life is hard enough as a disabled person without being berated for wanting a simple protein without too much fat to repair my leg muscle.....I mean you didnt have to cook the bacon, or scoop a tespoon of cranberry sauce out of the pot nor you didnt have to chop an onion (or pickled onion as you kindly shouted and shared with the cafe that you didnt have any fresh ones)...it was no big deal for me but it was clearly for you when you had 3 people in the cafe. One would think with so many negative reviews on here that you might actually read some of them and take them on board......Good luck!

We'd heard really good things about the tea hut, so 6 of us went for breakfast on Sunday. We arrived and were told it was a 40 minute wait for food. Seemed a little bit odd as it wasn't overly busy, but we were in no rush so it didn't really bother us. We went to order our breakfasts only to be told (at 10:15am) that they hadn't got any mushrooms or sautéed potatoes. So, we ordered our breakfast with lots of substitutes which almost all came out of the kitchen wrong. The lady serving us also seemed to think this was our fault, although she was apologetic towards the end!! We eventually got a semi-correct breakfast each, which was nice, but not overly great.
