Fynn Valley Golf Club in Suffolk Coastal

If you really want to enjoy your golf buy just 3 lessons from Steve using Trackman indoors. Don't waste it on £300 clubs or £3 balls. I will never take another outdoor lesson in my life.

The course is a decent one - challenging in parts and not too long. Has been well kept this year now the greenskeeper team seems to have been bolstered by more staff and, as of October 2024, the course is in great condition. The driving range will be updated soon (desperately needed) and will be 2 stories with golf tracking technology. The coaching studio is a great place to have access to and Steve Hunter is a really approachable and professional golf coach. Highly recommended!

Great golf course and friendly staff and facilities

I played here as a visiting member from another club and brought 3 guests with me, the staff in the clubhouse were very polite and informative and the club house has a really nice vibe. The course is on the shorter end if you play from the yellows but surprisingly challenging, there are lots of elevation changes and doglegs. The greens were in really good condition and considering the heat we've been having the rest of the course was still in very good condition.

Had a lovely jacket potatoe with tuna & salad it was huge & piled high with tuna filling and the salad had a nice dressing on it too. Not cheap but worth the price paid, had a tall glass of orange and lemonade & to finish a slice of rocky road which was divine. The place was spotless with ample parking very clean disabled toilet and the ambience and outlook was very pleasant. I am hoping to return monday with my son to eat.

Very good bar and staff who were dealing with the worldwide internet issue and still maintained a friendly and helpful service. Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Unfortunately the course didn’t live up to some of the previous reviews. The tees are in a terrible condition and hard.. and yet the greens, which looked good, were soft and damp and very slow. The fairways were okay but the daisies etc growing in the first cut makes ball hunting difficult. I know… keep it on the fairway. There seem to be quite a few blind shots and shots with pylons or other cables which are threatening for those who hit a high ball. A difficult course to plot your way round the first time that you play. All that said it was great value for a panini and a round. Oh and great showers.

Had a great game on the 9 hole course. It was wet and cold, but we had fun 😊

By mistake paid for two other spots for the New Year's Eve celebration. At that same moment as paid asked for a refund as that was a mistake. We were refused to get back refund. Ridiculous situation and very back customer service. Doing their best to get money from people. Food on NY Eve was bad, dry and tasteless. Wouldn't recommend this place.

First time at Fynn Valley, did my research beforehand to see what to expect and what a set up Fynn Valley is. Well maintained courses, there is an 18 and a 9 hole Par 3, I played the Par 3 in what was windy and wet conditions. That being said, I shot 5 over which could have been better but the course itself, excellent and I highly recommend it. From my arrival, smiling faces everywhere, fantastic and attentive staff who engaged in conversation easily and this makes the visit worthwhile. Particular thanks to the lady on reception who took the time and trouble to print me out some literature about Fynn Valley; to me, that speaks volumes so thanks Fynn Valley for a lovely mornings golf and I hope to come back soon.

I like Fynn Valley as I find it quite challenging, but they need to cut the grass a bit more. Hard to find your ball sometimes, even on the fairways

Have to say this place always makes me come back. Having rejoined as a member again the process and service has be effortless thanks to layla . The course is looking fantastic thanks to Ian and his team . Always look forward to mirandas smiling face the cafe terrace. And have to say the fynn valley pilsner 👌. Fynn has everything you need weather a round of golf or a family meal out . And all the staff are brilliant thank you 😊

Attended an event there this lunch time. Ideal venue good bar and catering. Nice terrace with plenty of outdoor seating.

Played for the first time today. Some very tricky holes if you are playing blind. Big wide fairways which are very dry at the moment as are most courses in this hot spell. The clubhouse was lovely as was the food, and the staff were very helpful.

Golf course is in great condition at the moment although the fairways are very dry the Greens are very green and receptive. The Terrace restaurant is open 8 til 4 serving food and drinks with outside seating and dog friendly.

Food speed has gotten much better and great vibes. The big gripe is there vegetarian/vegan is not nice. Especially with the pricing

I played Fynn Valley yesterday (10.06.22) despite the very hot weather the course was amazing. I played their team in the Curry Cup and was so impressed by what I was told I had to pay them a visit. The Greens were slower running than expected due to the lushness but they were immaculate. The staff were impeccable, as was the Clubhouse and food. Throughly impressed and would recommend to all golfers with in 50 miles of the course to make the trip. 5 stars.

Excellent value for money on the 9 hole and a great after work retreat. All cashless as well which I really approve of and all the systems worked really well. Great fun had by me and 3 mates, would highly recommend to any other amateurs out there

Stayed at the caravan club CL for a couple of nights Quiet rural retreat Daytime bus service nearby

CL was nice and quiet and clean, just a shame that the pitches were very close together. Cafe was really nice and we enjoyed a fabulous cooked breakfast 😁

Went to a wake there yesterday afternoon- only 2 staff front of house and they were superb - getting drinks, clearing tables, topping up the food - superb effort the 2 of you

Spent an hour or so on the driving range whipping 200 balls. Enjoyed every minute, even if I screwed quite a few!!

Lovely setting, and fabulous space

At the moment only using the driving range. Good facilities, ball dispenser card only. Range is now unmanned and the only pro shop is at the main club building. Can be busy mid afternoon to early evening.

The venue is very good all round and has facilities for lots of different events, plus the golf! I’d like to focus on the food. I’ve eaten there a few time’s now and it’s an incredibly high standard. Loads of locals produce and drinks. Last time we went my guest commented on how ‘posh’ it felt. To qualify that the surrounding are modern and we’ll deigned but the food is too and tasted delicious. A reasonably priced meal with quality ingredients and well thought out combinations. The staff are switched on a friendly. I’ll be back soon I’m sure.

Lovely golf course... However, as a non drinker. I chose to order a Becks Blue. Not realising that 2 x 275ml bottles (to make a pint) would cost £7.00 (£3.50 a bottle).. This is absolutely ridiculous. You can buy anywhere at 50p a bottle, retail. Why do people feel the need for such a Mark up? Even the barmaid was embarrassed at the price. However they had already been opened so I felt obliged to pay.

We attended our granddaughter and new husband's wedding reception on Sunday evening. The venue was a perfect size. The food was yummy and the staff were very helpful and friendly, especially with the less mobile of the party. Thank you for helping to make it a great party.

Visited today and had roast beef In the courtyard bar it was amazing, great size portion the best roast potatoes I've ever had and the Yorkshire pudding was the size of the plate...mmmmmm

NOT BABY FRIENDLY! I am writing this review during a wedding reception here and when my aunt asked for baby food to be heated up for my baby cousin (not even 1 years old) it took almost 20 minutes to get staff too do it and this made my aunt cry as my baby cousin had been crying for the past 15 minutes

I was here for a Craft. Sale in aid of St Elizabeth. Hospice There were about 20 stalls all beautifully laid out with well-crafted goods from simple knitted and hand- sewn children's garments to moulded candles and jewellery as well as wooden items and cards Everyone was keen to demonstrate some aspect of their craft and the ambassadors for skin products had a great deal to offer from their expertise Hot pies and teas were on sale and specialists like photographers were ready to invite one yo fix up a memorable family photograph! i spent an interesting hour and a half there

Decent size range with friendly staff. 9 hole course is good fun. Though it's been changed recently to make way for a croquet lawn and isn't as good as it once was. Could do with a few more bells and whistles to make it a little more modern but overall it's a good view hours out.

Underrated golf course. Cheap, friendly staff good food and drink and an all round great place. After paying a few times decided to take on the hobby and bought a membership. Very happy so far!

Fynn Valley Golf Club hosted a Charity Ball which I attended in May. The staff were very helpful and the food was really excellent! Very good selection of drinks at the bar. Service was great too!

Bunkers están hechas de rocas pequeñas, no de arena! No recomendaría jugar a menos que pueda conseguir escuchar un partido por £10 e incluso que es exagerado.

Nunca visitamos el bar y el club de antes, a la llegada de vinos cálidos tibio, varias visitas a la mesa con el chef y personal de servicio con doseles, tres campos luego café y petit fours. Y globos, etc. en Poppers mesa, disco para establecer la celebración.

Attended an Xmas party dinner dance and was not disappointed.Food was excellent, bar not too pricey and a disco to bop the evening away. If the food we had is replicated for a normal meal in the restaurant then you will not be disappointed. Will definitely try the Sunday lunch.

What a lovely welcoming place. Staff behind the the club bar very nice and friendly especially Kerry she is so down to earth and a lovely young lady and makes you feel so welcome. Food is fab and highly recommended. We're not here for the golf we are staying in 1 of fynn valley lodges which allows us to use the golf club.

Played golf on Thursday evening in a friendly match, golf course great but the bar prices way over the top, I can get a pint of Ghost Ship at Southwold GC £1.10 cheaper, but keep up the good work on the course

After much searching we came to fynn valley on our search for the perfect venue for us and we were not disapointed.The venue was big enough to cater for our guests and the management team were extremely helpful from the start to the finish. All our contact was through email to which replies came the same day or the next day and all our questions were answered and addressed.Onto the wedding day, the day went without a hitch, the staff were superb, extremely helpfull, friendly and very efficient. After the ceremony we were invited to the terrace for welcome drinks while the staff quickly and efficently changed the room around and set up for dinner.Dinner was served and the food was amazing, everything hot and fresh and cooked really well, even the professional chefs in the family gave 5 star reviews on the quality of the food After dinner the elderly in our 2 families found that the sofas in the venue were a great addition (part of the reason we chose fynn valley) as they were big and comfy for the 1s with joint problems The evening reception went extremely well, plenty of space for our entertainment The dj was really good playing a good mix of songs All in all we had an amazing wedding and would highly recommend this venue and we will be using them again for future events

This place was recommended in the county magazine as catering for non members, but on arrival was told it only catered for parties of at least 10 who had booked.We were offered a bar meal by a very abrupt bar person who wasn't very friendly at all.We left immediately.

Good nine-hole on a Summer's day. Only £6 for a go round which passes a couple of hours.

Went for Valentines lunch it was super value for money and will definately return.The menu was comprehensive the service good TABLE CLOTHES ON THE TABLES!! The atmosphere was excellent and great experience all round!

We were guests at a friends party here and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. There were in the region of 70 guests. The service was very good and efficient and the food was excellent. We had been asked to pre-order from a selection sent to us with our invitation which seems a good way of planning for bigger groups.

I had liunch here at a function for about 60 people. Sometimes, meals at functions can be very mediocre. However, I was pleasantly surprised that the food was very nice, it was also served hot, and the service was reasonably speedy. Importantly, we were all served exactly what we had pre-ordered and the vegetables all came at the same time as the main courses - that doesn't happen everywhere! The restaurant is a very pleasant environment to sit in and, certainly for the number we had, was not over-crowded.

Oh dear......what a let down, having been to several previous xmas party nights in past years, December 19th 2015 was the worst one ever experienced.Disappointing food quality, small portions, hard vegetables.After last years great atmosphere and disco with friendly dj, this year was the complete opposite end of the scale. No christmas music until midnight, bad choice/taste in music that i felt was not suitable for a party night....meaning "HOUSE" music being played, then a large amount of people leaving just after 10.30 that we felt was down to the music.The only good point i can say was the waiting staff, a lady called Chris i believe was very good and friendly towards us.We will not be returning in 2016.

A tough test of golf. No reserve tee times (other then competition) so you can generally turn up and play.

This was a pre - booked 3 course lunch with a set menu with several choices. There were about 8o guests. Unfortunately the restaurant was short staffed. There was no excuse for this as it was a longstanding booking. When the food was eventually served it was of a very poor standard. The sauce of my prawn cocktail was watery, as if it had had to be increased due to a shortage. The sole of the main course was overcooked and dry. The potato cake was cold. Some of the vegetables were mushy, some under cooked.. The best course was the cheese and biscuits I had ordered instead of a dessert. At £22 it was very expensive. I will not be going again.

Absolutely beautiful hall. Food was amazing. Staff were very helpful at both the bar and making sure all food was topped up.

Always heading down to Fynn as it's not far from my house. I'm not a member at any club as i dont play often enough on an 18, but thats why i really enjoy Fynn. They have friendly staff at the driving range and i usually hit a few balls and then go round the par 3. It may not be much but it's fantastic for working on your short game. Iv played it quite a few times and it has helped my game alot, so when i do play the 18 if i can hit a decent drive im usually in good stead for a chip and put. Much to the annoyance of a few friends who play more often than me. Not too expensive and well maintained. The 18 is excellent and up there with the best around Suffolk. Well worth a visit.

Visited a few times for birthday meals. Food has always been excellent, but always surprised about how few people there are eating on a Sunday lunchtime. That said, it makes for a quiet, enjoyable meal with excellent food.

Once again the xmas party night 20/12/14 lived up to all expectations.The meal (3 course) was excellent ,entertainment was equally as good.The food was hot thanks to the quick service and the efficiency of Mr Will Archer and his team.The restaurant is open not only but to the to its golf club members but to the public as well.The party nights are real good value for money and whether your 1 person or a group you need to book early to avoid disappointment. We visited Fynn Valley for New Years Eve. It was our first visit and we had no idea what to expect. We hadn’t heard much about the Golf Club previously and just assumed it was a little club somewhere on the outskirts of Ipswich. It’s fair to say we were pleasantly surprised! The room we were in was simple and just what you would expect from a traditional golf club, but the food was outstandingly good, blowing any other local competition out of the water. Every single course was delicious, so well thought out, beautifully presented and a really pleasant surprise. From the French onion soup to the monk fish and crepe suzette, I could have licked the plate clean on every one. I would have though that with food like this Fynn Valley should be firmly on the Ipswich gastro map, but dare I say that the decor should be updated to meet this high standard?All staff were really helpful and friendly, and I would definitely consider revisiting or hosting an event here.

Fantastic night, great food and service topped off with brilliant disco/dj playing a good variety of music and requests, great atmosphere at midnight!! Very well done!!!!

Recently got married at Fynn Valley Golf Club, My wife and I couldn't have been anymore happy with the venue absolutely gorgeous setting and beautiful location. The management and the staff went above and beyond there duties to make our day so special. The relax and calm atmosphere help everything go smoothly. The food that was supplied was out of the world. I would highly recommend this venue for any occasion. Many thanks to all the staff at Fynn Valley.

Had a party there for family and friends, about 70 people in all. Beautiful location. Friendly staff and wonderful buffet food. The Red Onion & Pork Sausage Rolls are highly recommended!

Great course with restaurant and bar for afterwards. Driving range and 9 hole for beginners or families. Well looked after and buggies available.

Wife won a raffel prize for a three course meal for two here. Lovely location and got a sense that everything was so well organised for golfers and eaters.Were waited on by a lady of more mature years who was completely on top of things and met all our needs without being intrusive. A complete pro. There seemed to be only four waiting staff and despite there being two 70-year birthday parties being held there was no panic and little delay. The staff should be commended for that. The starters were perfetct - 10/10. The desserts were perfect - 10/10. But the main courses - roast beef and lamb shank were ruined with salt. Salt, salt, salt. The vegetables were perfect (slightly undercooked which is great given the time from pan to table) and took away the salt taste. What can I say? I know - take away the salt from the chef or whoever adds it. Then the mains would have been delightful.Just such a simple change would change the whole complexion of the meal. I hope they take this on board.

This is the second time we have booked Fynn Valley for a post funeral gathering for family and friends. On both occasions the management of the event has been oustanding. The food was plentiful, reasonably priced and of excellent quality. We had the opportunity to adjust numbers on the day. I must mention the catering manager, Mr Will Archer who could not do enough to ensure everyone had everything they needed. He even issued umberellas to guests as they left during a downpour and collected them as they reached their cars.I cannot recommend this venue, food and the staff highly enough. It really was perfect.Thank you so much.

What more can you ask for a family 75th Birthday Party! I am Diabetic, so have to be careful about sweet courses. There was no problem in taking our own cake which I knew that I was OK with. The staff were swift, efficient, and the whole atmoshere generated a feeling that they wanted my 75th Birthday to be special. They certainly suceeded, I have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

My son celebrated his 9th birthday along with 7 friends last Saturday at Fynn Valley and what a brilliant time was had by all! They spent an hour with Chris Smith, PGA Pro who was brilliant with the boys showing them techniques and giving advice. They spent time in the driving range and on the putting green and then went out onto the Par 3 Course where they played 9 holes. All equipment and balls were provided and the boys loved being in charge of their own scores cards!We then went into the bar where the boys enjoyed sausage & chips or burger & chips (burgers were homemade & humongous although after all that walking the boys polished them off!) and then all enjoyed a strawberry ice cream sundae. Chris & Mel in the bar were very attentive and made sure the boys hadn't run out of squash as all were very thirsty with it being such a hot afternoon.The whole afternoon was brilliant and if you are looking for something different to do for your son/daughters birthday, I would highly recommend Fynn Valley. Infact the boys enjoyed it so much, they are all booked onto Chris Smiths junior coaching sessions being held in the summer holidays!Thank you again for a very enjoyable afternoon!

Our daughter, Jessica is Vegan and wanted a complete Vegan wedding and after searching various venues, including another nearby golf course, we visited Fynn Valley. We were given great confidence at the very start that there would be no problem with the menu and the chefs came up with ideas that really impressed us. Despite the rain, the day itself was wonderful and enjoyed by all our guests, who incidentally were mainly meat eaters. The food was elegantly served and very tasty. We cannot praise the staff enough for all their hard work and special thanks must go to Christine and Will for their quiet and unobtrusive organisation. We have no hesitation in recommending Fynn Valley as a Wedding Venue. MIKE AND CYNTHIA CRISP.

It was the Ambience, the staff, the settings and the food was amazing, top notch cuisine, and very affordable. We all loved it, including my Mother who was extremely happy. (and a Hard person to please!) .

My daughter Sonia had her wedding at FVCC on 10.05.13, it was perfect, we would like to say a big thank you to Chris and her team, for providing a good service, the food was lovely, tables laid out beauiful, could not fault any thing.
