Covid has caused a lot of problems in maintaining standards but by now I would have thought things should be back to normal. Tea used to be served in a pot and coffee in proper cups and plates for food. Now we have paper cups for tea and coffee and cakes are given out just wrapped in cling-film. No table service any more as you have to wait for your order to be prepared and handed to you. The food is still good but the whole experience is not worth walking the length of the prom.
There used to be more tables and with parasols on the hot days - but no more.
I think they need to get back to the standards they used to have as people will go to the new cafe's that are opening.
My husband and myself visited for lunch in February, we arrived just before 12 and were pleased we did as there weren’t many free tables as it is a popular place.
Our order was taken really quickly and we did not have to wait long for our order. I had a toasted cheese sandwich and my husband had a sausage bap and cheesy chips. I also had a banana split. The food was good, the staff really friendly and efficient and I can see why the place is so busy.
I’d have done 5 stars but the baked beans were from a can - they’re sooooo easy to make in the slow cooker! And potato would be better if not simply microwaved. That said it has seating and the drink selection seems very good. The healthiest place to eat in Leiston that’s for sure!! I’d recommend trying it.
Authentic Pie, Mash n' liquor in Felixstowe - I popped in here after a couple of beers on the front - lovely pies, good old mash and proper liquor - knife, fork and spoon for the liquor, with vinegar, just like in London SE1 - interesting photos of England football stars and a bit of banter with the owner. All in all a great lunch and long may they thrive in Felixstowe.
Visited Felixstowe today. So glad we chose to stop here. Really enjoyed both the Raspberry and Banana milkshakes we chose. Also the Bakewell, and Coconut cake’s both really hit the spot.
We always come for a walk to the dip when visiting family , a great spot to sit and have coffee and cake and look out to sea , today I had one of the homemade cheese scones it was one of the best I have ever eaten , whatever the weather always a great establishment for a warm welcome and delicious fair, great ice creams in the summer and hot chocolate in the winter .
A super spot to enjoy brunch, coffee or lunch!
Delicious menu!
Friendly staff
Beautiful gardens to stroll through at certain times of the year as well.
Certainly not value for money, poor quality!!
I shall not be returning for a second visit as I did not enjoy what I had and it was not value for money!
Good pub, personal service, nice food, good events and attention to detail. Wish it was walking distance from home, or that the wife didn’t like a drink too :)
Today my mum and I decided to try this lovely little coffee shop for our mid morning coffee, and we were so glad we did! We were welcomed by lovely, friendly staff. The coffee was delicious, hot and there was a variety of milks and syrups to choose from - bonus! We have booked to return for afternoon tea next week and really looking forward it 😊
Super friendly staff ... lovely interesting stock of local produce , rural setting. Fabulous food..
Happy to make up different food that was not on the menu .
Had breakfast here Saturday, it’s a good job we used satnav as you’d never find it otherwise. Reduced menu was being served as chef at a wedding but choice on offer was perfectly adequate. An old fashioned greasy spoon. We really enjoyed the food, the produce seemed to be good quality and it was very reasonably priced. The 3 ladies working there were also lovely. The only negative was the overpowering offensive smell in the toilets. It was so bad I couldn’t even use the toilet and had to come straight back out again as the smell was making me physically heave. It was a mixture of a strong chemical smell mixed with the smell of a septic tank. I’m glad we ate before I went into the toilet as if I’d have gone in before ordering we’d have just left. To be clear although an update would not go a miss the toilets looked physically clean so I don’t know what was causing the smell but it needs sorting as it was unbearable. A shame as food and service were great
It's clear that love and thought goes in to everything at The Hot Sausage Company, from the friendly service and vegan option (which I understand was painstakingly sourced to ensure only the best was served!) to the wide range of condiments and reasonable prices.
If you're ever in town in Cambridge, Colchester or Ipswich, make it your top priority to visit for a bite to eat.
