Had breakfast here Saturday, it’s a good job we used satnav as you’d never find it otherwise. Reduced menu was being served as chef at a wedding but choice on offer was perfectly adequate. An old fashioned greasy spoon. We really enjoyed the food, the produce seemed to be good quality and it was very reasonably priced. The 3 ladies working there were also lovely. The only negative was the overpowering offensive smell in the toilets. It was so bad I couldn’t even use the toilet and had to come straight back out again as the smell was making me physically heave. It was a mixture of a strong chemical smell mixed with the smell of a septic tank. I’m glad we ate before I went into the toilet as if I’d have gone in before ordering we’d have just left. To be clear although an update would not go a miss the toilets looked physically clean so I don’t know what was causing the smell but it needs sorting as it was unbearable. A shame as food and service were great

If you want smashed avocado on sourdough with pea shoots and other unnecessary greenery then this cafe is not for you. But if you want the best quality full English, fresh unfussy honestly presented British and local food then you’re in the right place. Always a warm welcome, seriously tasty local food, simply cooked and unpretentiously presented. Today’s special were some seriously big juicy scallops which I had with my full English and they were an inspired combination and very popular. Thanks Sean for another outstanding breakfast. Keeping consistent standards like this is a real labour of love but it shines through in the food. Lovely breakfast and not an avocado in sight. PS a ‘greasy spoon’ this is not!

This really is a very good traditional breakfast, well cooked using the best of local ingredients. The addition of scallops is genius, perfectly cooked and I would recommend treating yourself to them.

Called in for Brunch. Very disappointing. Had been there a while ago and was impressed. Under new management who proudly stated he was not doing any of that sour dough /avocado rubbish. Menu very much in the greasy spoon arena. Great if that’s what you want but we know we can get better greasy spoon or sour dough/avocado.

I wanted to treat my son to a great Suffolk breakfast before his return to France. I could not have chosen a better place. All the elements of the meal were of the highest quality, cooked freshly to order. Superb black pudding, eggs and bacon just as we requested and great bubble and squeak. The café deserved a five star rating for its cleanliness, quality local ingredients and warm welcome from the owner and his team.

It’s ok if you have a lot of time spare because we went there on a Saturday morning it wasn’t packed I would say about half full ,had to wait 15,20 minutes just to order. By the time we did order and then got our Breakfasts we had been there just over an Hour, and then didn’t get the Toast till half way through the Breakfast Food was ok , but all took tooooo long, we felt sorry for the young waitress because all she kept saying was sorry to everyone Needs a bit more organisation

What a fabulous, tucked away gem in Aldeburgh. Four of us had brunch, all different dishes and we couldn’t find fault between us. We were fortunate with the weather and ate “alfresco”, the staff were attentive and fun. All in all a fabulous!

Whilst mine was a good breakfast, i just don't understand why they serve cheap Tesco bread/toast with it. My wife had a pitiful portion of scrambled eggs with a couple of morsels of haddock for £12. Just not acceptable value. When we pointed this out to the waitress she made a comment about the fact that my wife hadn't had bread with it and that was the determining factor on price. a Slice of Tesco's bread? Really? Doesn't hold a candle to Te Kitchen at Thorpeness. A few sensible tweaks and it would be a good place to go.

First visit here yesterday as took a friend for brunch. We both had full English and have to say it was the BEST full English brunch we have had in a long time! Food all locally sourced and deliciously cooked. Service and welcome was lovely too. Needless to say it’s a place we shall revisit as often as possible. Highly recommend this cafe and hope to be back soon!

Aldeburgh’s best kept secret! If you want a delicious no frills, freshly cooked using local produce breakfast then go to the Alde Cafe. Unless you’re a Vegan you won’t be disappointed! Bright yellow eggs, local sausages, crispy bacon, bubble & squeek, eggy bread, eggs scrambled with smoked haddock, I could go on. Not to mention freshly brewed coffee & pots of tea. Staff very friendly & accommodating. We’ll be back.

Mmmmmm !! eaten here twice now since it changed hands, menu choice is very limited and lacks imagination. £5 for a large brioche roll with one and a half sausages in is expensive and service has been slow on both occasions. Coffee is good and nice touch with carafe of cold water brought to every table but I won’t be returning as it’s very ordinary kiosk type of food unless you opt for the full English breakfast.

Amazing breakfast! Felt welcomed from the firs second. The food and the coffee was very nice. If you looking for home tasting food instead of franchise you have to visit. Highly recommended!

This is now actually called the Alde Cafe. I’ve been twice in the last three days. There are fancier places along the High Street, but you will not get a better meal there than you will find at the Alde. Sean is a brilliant cook who prepares every dish with both flare and a respect for tradition. It was the best fry up I have had in the last twenty years, and a welcomed alternative to the recent tendency of serving them up in thali dishes, with about a tablespoon of beans in one and a cubic centimeter of toast in another. I just had the kedgeree, which was magnificently prepared with haddock from the smokehouses along the Shingle. There are many reasons to come to ever-beautiful Aldeburgh. But I’d rank breakfast or lunch at the Alde Cafe at the very top of my list.

Authentic Pie, Mash n' liquor in Felixstowe - I popped in here after a couple of beers on the front - lovely pies, good old mash and proper liquor - knife, fork and spoon for the liquor, with vinegar, just like in London SE1 - interesting photos of England football stars and a bit of banter with the owner. All in all a great lunch and long may they thrive in Felixstowe.
