This was such an enjoyable treat. Unfortunately they had sold out of most pastries except for croissants and a pecan brownie by the time I got there. We opted for hot chocolate: so rich and lovely, not too sweet, which I like. The croissants are perfectly light and flakey. I highly recommend this tucked away bakery. The Pump Street Chocolate Shop across the road is connected to the bakery and rovides the basis of the hot chocolate. This is certainly worth a return trip but get there early before everything is sold out (just, not before us).
2nd. visit to this excellent venue. The majority of the reviews on this site say it all really. The buiding has been sympathetically restored following a fire previously creating a warm ,very welcoming atmosphere. All the staff are friendly well informed and genuinely seem to enjoy their work. Food is of a very high standard with excellent choices , complemented by a well constructed wine list . My King Scallops were as good as i have had anywhere ,followed by an impressive Belly Pork dish on a bubble & squeek mash also cooked superbly. My 2 dining partners both enjoyed their choices as much as myself. We shared a bottle of Italian Gavi , which went really well with all the dishes . 3 tasty desserts followed by great coffee finished off a beautiful lunchtime meal . We have already booked our ext visit.
A very friendly welcome from Steve, he lit a fire & allowed us to dine in the bar by it on a very chilly day which was most thoughtful. The food was amazing, table for 7 on Saturday lunchtime all served together and deliciously good, generous portions. The board games, play area & donkey’s an added bonus. Highly recommend especially for the cozy & traditional atmosphere, coupled with the quality of good food & service make this a must visit
Been waiting patiently for 3 months to try this place and wow we wasn’t disappointed. No probably about it this was the best roast dinner we ( 4 people in agreement ) have ever had. We went easy on starters as heard portions were big. Shared the fried olives which were lovely and very different , some breads with the burnt onion butter ( this butter is like spreading air , delightful) and scallops were excellent. We upgraded for 3 of us to the prime rib and one had the sirloin. Think Rib was £110 complete with trimmings , works out about £5 pp extra against normal sirloin but wow well worth it . The trimmings and Perfectly crisp roasties were in abundance . I have had some lovely roast dinners but there is no way I see this can be beaten , faultless!! Unfortunately a five month waiting list! Michelin star roast without a shadow of a doubt , parking easiest by the abbey near fish pool street👍
¡10 de cada 10 experiencias seguro! Entorno romántico único en un barco estacionario. Un montón de aves diferentes nadando para el entretenimiento, mientras disfruta plato tras plato de sabrosos platos asiáticos.
Wonderful find in the area of Southdown, Harpenden! Place is artfully decorated & food was delicious - especially the coconut rice & coconut naan 😋
Ash at the restaurant was very personable & attentive!
Would definitely go back 👌🏼
This has surely got to be one of the best restaurants around here. The service was impeccable, the hosts are very welcoming. The star of the show however was the food. Every course was delicious, some of the best food we have eaten. So happy to have found it. We will definitely return.
Was cold in the restaurant as the heating wasn't on. Menu was pretty basic and things you could easily make at home. The plates weren't heated, mening the food cooled down a lot once served. Garlic bread had barely any garlic butter and was so hard it was like a giant crouton. Food was slow to come out. The cokes tasted strange and were half flat. Wouldn't recommend it, I would rather go to a whetherspoons as its cheaper, more menu choice and better quality.
We visited and tried the £20.25 menu. Wow, the food was absolutely amazing. I had the tandoori chicken poppadom starter, my husband had the bao buns which were both absolutely delicious, such lovely flavours! For mains I had the rack of ribs which was divine, meat had a beautiful glaze and just fell off the bone, husband had the cheeseburger and chips which had about 5 different cheeses and bacon inside. Both mains were outstanding in flavour and great sized portions. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding which was really light and tasty. Well done to the chef, very inventive menu. Very friendly service from the waitress too.
Weekend for my birthday . I had scallops on bed of leeks and lemon sauce with a hint of chilli - fantastic . My wife had salmon pate equally good
Main course (which we swapped round half way) Monkfish parcels in a light batter with mushroom pappardelle- delicious . My wife had a tomato based fish stew which again was fabulous .
Nice little restaurant well worth a visit and great value !
Excellent food, lots of options and good sized portions. Presented really well.
Service is brilliant, very friendly and helpful.
Thank you we will be back!
Son had his wedding blessing here, together with bridal breakfast, evening reception and breakfast following day (hired several of the cottages as well as rooms in the main hotel - they couldn't be faulted.)
Food was exceptional, so full from the breakfast ( huge home made burgers, chicken breast and BBQ with sides that beat anything I'd had in my previous 60 years), bars in events venue and main hotel, care from staff couldn't be faulted. With a walk through the gardens to the river at the end so see the broads boats go by while enjoying the sun, prior to the evening events.
Guests enjoyed the more lively evening when the sound system was cranked up, before those who had to make their way to other places started leaving.
Following morning breakfast was more than ample to get through to evening, a buffet bar plus cooked to order menus, full English was good, or a mountain of scrambled egg on toast with a thick large sliver of salmon as the roof.
Highly recommend
We had the most perfect day at the Norfolk Mead for our wedding. Frankie and Danni were so helpful throughout the planning process and on the day they were both amazing and made sure everything ran smoothly. They were always prompt with their replies and nothing was too much trouble for them. All the staff were lovely and friendly. The food was delicious and the venue itself was beautiful. Being able to have some time in the spa the morning after our wedding was a perfect way to unwind and reflect on the day. We could not have asked for a better venue!
