Stayed recently, and I did like being there other than the staff refusing to accept scottish money saying. we have had a scottish forgery so we dont accept any scottish money (really). The most commonly forged currency in the uk is a bank of England £20 note.
There are many ways to verify if money is genuine pens and machines.
This prejudice needs to stop.
Post office state Scottish money is accepted but not given back out except in Scotland.
And all banks will accept Scottish notes.
This was my first visit, and I was not disaapointed. The pub is lovely and traditional and the greeting was warm and inviting. We had booked for the 3pm second sitting for Sunday Lunch. The service was brilliant - great friendly staff, knowledgeable regarding the menu, and very efficient. Now the food...wow! Some nice choices for starters (my gochujany chicken with ginger and cabbage slaw was delicious) and the rack of pork was probably the best pub roast I've ever had - melt in the mouth meat, with all the trimmings...and no skimping on portion size! It was a struggle to choose dessert as we were all feeling full...rude not to, so we did anyway! We were there for a birthday, and the staff very kindly brought out icecream and sparkler when they found out and sang Happy Birthday.
We'll definitely be back!
My wife and I stayed in a local pub where the food was nothing great and overpriced. We decided to try the chippy on our second night. Best chippy dinner we had eaten in years. No frills top fish and chips. Not the healthiest of menus, but a rare treat nevertheless. To paraphrase McArthur, ‘We shall return!’
My family go to the Blue Rooms Cafe as a treat on occasion.
It's a lovely little tea room / cafe with a great menu and friendly staff.
It's situated next to a garden centre in Abridge with plenty of parking.
It's popular so you might want to book a table.

Suburb Sunday roast , we had beef succulent and full of flavour. Veg had extra flavour too and divine desserts. Coffee smoothie and rich. Second visit and will definitely go again. Recommend booking for Sunday roast. Staff attentive and service great.
Friendly staff. No table service. Spraying tables whilst eating. Food was VERY good! Floors were dirty throughout.
Really Did NOT like the amount of dogs inside when serving food. Staff were fussing over dogs then entering kitchen/bar which is NOT hygienic. They should at least have a separate area for dogs instead of letting them everywhere. Not sure I would go again tbh.
I drive past this restaurant daily and have always said I must go there. Well the husband done good and booked us a table. A lovely warm welcome and the food was absolutely delicious we will certainly be back.

Have eaten here several time for lunch. Lots of choices on the menu and the specials board. Lots of homemade dishes excellent portion sizes and the staff and lovely. Would definitely recommend excellent value for money.
First time at this venue.
The staff are very welcoming and helpful.
Choices on offer are huge, food and drinks were above expectations.
One small point is that prices of many items are not printed on the menu. Surely it's not assumed that all customers are so affluent as to not need to know in advance what they're to pay.
A lovely family run Italian restaurant, the food and service were both excellent on a visit for my adult sons birthday. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night, but service was fabulous and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend for an occasion or romantic meal.
Having enjoyed dining here on numerous occasions over the years, I had no hesitation in choosing The Three Horseshoes in Madingley, to host a lunch for 24 friends and family, to celebrate my 80th birthday. Thanks entirely to Rachel Kipping and her colleagues we had an amazing time! Our lunch was simply superb with plenty of choice to suit all tastes, backed up with super efficient table service. Overall, it was a most enjoyable and memorable occasion. Thank you Rachel and Team for your sterling efforts which are much appreciated!
