My husband had a lovely meal in September with our sons and their families and raved about it (sadly I was poorly). on a visit to Dunwich heath and beach we then called and booked a table for 4.30pm. The greeting was lovely what a fab menu I chose Fish pie and my husband had belly pork, both dishes were amazingly good portions and delicious… we both had pud of cheesecake and crumble which again were a good size and delicious, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough and can’t wait to eat there again when we are in the area. Brilliant service

Wonderful experience at Mark G. Recommended by a friend, which is always a good sign. Visited in the middle of Storm Bert, and this was a very welcome port in a big storm Cocktails to start were excellent, and service was very attentive without being intrusive Would highly recommend the popcorn cockles, which were excellent. Main course was the fish pie and the cod, which were both very good. Sticky ginger pudding is a lovely twist on an old favourite In turn, would highly recommend if you get the chance to visit. Thank you for looking after us

Went here for the first time today and will definitely be back. The cod was fresh and so tasty with a light crispy batter. The chips were possibly the best I’ve had, not overcooked or reheated as I’ve had in other restaurants. A bonus was we could have extra complimentary chips as we made our way through the meal. The place was spotlessly clean and the flower baskets at the front and the lovely garden at the back with rows of begonias were beautiful, all well tended, and a credit to the gardener. Our waitress was polite and efficient and very attentive. All in all a lovely lunch ….. absolutely no complaints

Where do I start? Unfortunately, there was so much wrong with our breakfasts. The fried eggs were hard at the bottom and only a tiny bit soft on top on all 7 eggs, the bacon was hard, because it was overcooked and possibly reheated, ( it was stiff ). The sausages were also overcooked. The black pudding was as thick as the bacon and, in my opinion, an insult. We will not be going back, thats why we didn't complain there and then.

We visited whilst on holiday in the area. We were greeted by very friendly staff. Although the restaurant was busy, being a Saturday evening, we were not rushed and enjoyed a leisurely meal. My friend is coeliac and the menu offered her lots of choice. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Ordered cod roe chips and a battered sausage which was enemic batter was under cooked. Cod Roe was soggy under cooked and an inedible mess. Chips were obviously pre cooked and reheated . Won't be visiting this chippy again . Poplars is much better quality all round. (Picture proof attached)

We had booked for a party of 20, though had a few drop out through illness. After drinks in the very friendly bar we were asked to make our way to the restaurant. Wow!! The pub had really pulled out all the stops for us. Decorated tables and everything. Food and service was fantastic. The two minor complaints were dealt with very quickly and satisfactory. Well done the Elm Tree, Rock Choir will be back I'm sure.
