Think I dropped unlucky on my visit, the chips weren't fresh cooked although plentiful. The batter on the fish was thick and soggy. I'm hoping my visit wasn't typical of the usual standard . The lady behind the counter was very friendly but with the economic crisis going on people have to vote with their feet and I'm going to be more careful I'm getting value for money

What a find! Stayed at the local Campsite and saw this little chippy thinking we should visit and on night two we did! They do take card and the food I have to say was just delicious and they’re even dog friendly! Saved sitting outside on a cold night! We well certainly be back! Friendly service and great food, recommend the curry and the pudding pie!

We called ahead to order fish and scampi and chips for a family of 5. The food was ready exactly on time. The fish batter was light and crispy and the chips the right balance of soft and crispy. Even after driving them home 16 minutes away they were still warm and perfect.

Would have loved to try this chippy but despite advertising being open on the 2 nights I tried, it wasn't. Do disappointing. Don't rely on this place.

Staying in Hawkshead as three couples, called in here Friday evening for 6 portions of Fish n Chips. Large portions all freshly cooked and served by welcoming friendly staff, we couldn't have asked for better. Thank You

Really enjoyed our mid afternoon stop here. Such a friendly place and great big cakes too! Would recommend stopping in here if you are in Hawkshead. Didn't try them but the sandwiches looked good too

We've been coming to the lakes on holiday for many many years, and one of the highlights we look forward to is visiting Sun Inn. Over the years we have struck up a great friendship with the owners and are always treated like family when we arrive. It all started many moons ago when I took my daughter in for a slice of chocolate strawberry cake when she was around 10 years old......and she finished it! If you look at the pictures of thier cakes, trust me, they are even better than the look! When tourists stop in their tracks to take pics of the cakes on display instead of the beautiful Lake District around them......Well......I think that speaks for itself. All the food is freshly cooked and to an extremely high standard, you can tell these guys have a real passion for what they do. Can't wait to get back again at Easter next year. I thoroughly recommend the black pudding hash......and every single cake in the window for dessert! Simon, Alex, Gill and James.

We stopped in for a mid day snack and oh, what a display of yummy looking desserts! We just had tea and cake, but the lunch menu looked tempting as well. This is't just a cafe, but also a little boutique with a lot of nice merchandise, not junk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They also have outdoor seating. Great place to take a break.

Came across this café whilst cycling through Hawkshead. Very pleased we did because the food was delicious. Can recommend the open seafood sandwich and their assam tea. If I hadn't needed to get back on the bike to continue our journey, I would have sampled their scrummy looking cakes! Sat outside on a lovely sunny day and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Friendly welcome too.

I have meant to try the pie mash shop in Sudbury for ages but only got round to it today. I'm really sorry I didn't go before now as it was excellent. I only had a single pie and mash but it was plenty for me. The pie was perfect and the liquor was really good. I will definitely go back.

Visit the pub for a band night recently and very disappointed in our experience. Band were fantastic but service from pub was appalling. The pub had advertised the evening as a live band and pizza night so would have surely staffed the pub appropriately but very much not the case-queues of people at the bar every time we went to get another drink and waiting nearly an HOUR AND A HALF for a pizza!!! If we had come out to the pub for a proper meal this would still be unacceptable but this was just for 2 pizzas of all things?!?! Really need to work on staffing as this is poor service by anyone’s standards. The worst part was that whilst we were in the long queue to place our order, a regular walked to the front of the queue and handed the barman his pizza order which was put through as a priority above those who had been waiting in line! Definitely in two minds now as to whether to return for the Beer Festival in August.

Lovely little place, log fire, polite landlady and a great selection of ales. Reasonably priced. Always a warm welcome.

This has become our go to pub when travelling home to the Netherlands via Harwich. Just a short detour from the main road will bring you to this lovely spot. The garden is pretty and usually we eat outside. Weather was a bit nippy this time so we found a spot indoors. Very charming and quirky. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. We've sampled most things on the menu over the last few years but I have to say my steak and ale pie was particularly good this time. Such a shame that we can never fit in a dessert.
