huffers Cafe in Babergh

Was recommended to this cafe by a friend and he wasn't wrong. Great menu choice and the milk shakes are great.

Nice little place been going for awhile and worth the money.

Sorry for my sister not being well today just few minutes after eating her meal.sorry for the two ladies who witness it.hope they are not I'll one day as my sisters getting over breast cancer and has ms.i did clean it up outside shop.which many people would not have done.

Always a really enjoyable and consistent breakfast, we come most Saturday mornings and would always recommend it. The cafe is always clean, busy, lively and the staff are very courteous and friendly.

Member of staff who served me on both visits was not pleasant. Require customer service training

The dinner was so lovely we cleared our plates, fish chips and peas and salad. The fish was white and flaky fresh and the batter was minimal which made it so much more enjoyable.The chips were similar to those one would get in France ,true french fries. The peas were plentiful and salad was tasty with rocket. Well presented with little bowls of tartare sauce and ketchup. The girls serving were very efficient and polite. The chef is obviously very competent and on the ball. We will go here again. It was so enjoyable that although we were both full up we just wanted to finish the meal. Other dinners on table near us looked lovely especially the lasagne.

Great place to stop and eat, it was highly recommended from local people, This cafe was busy and buzzing with activity, all the staff was really busy but were smiling the whole time we was there,the food was good and freshly cooked, the portions was are a good size, and it was all very tasty, we will definitely be visiting again when we are in the area.

Update: another successful, yummy lunch, staff great as always, food arrived quickly etc. Great menu, such a large variety of options, I can't imagine anyone would struggle to find something. Prices were definitely good value for money, the portions are generous. The staff were all working hard, and very polite and friendly. Will definitely be back, work my way through the yummy menu, maybe a milkshake or two. 😊😋

Visited this place for a sandwich to takeaway Extremely rude staff so will not being going there again. They were busy which might have something to do with it but all the staff looked miserable as sin so maybe a management issue. Avoid at all costs

I can't go more than 3 stars. The food was OK, but it wasn't the tuna melt I ordered, it was a tuna cheese sandwich using toasted bread. The coffee was filter coffee with creamer, and of course, they don't accept cards. It is 2024

waited an atrocious amount of time for a baguette and was utterly disappointed with the food itself, has a disabled ramp yet it’s so steep you would struggle with getting a wheelchair up and down

Good breakfast here. Lots of choice and all cooked well. One thing to remember if going is Cash only so keep that in mind.

Food good..service good...but when I went to pay with phone app bank card, I was told it was cash only. I asked where it said that, and was pointed to a small sign in front of the pay desk. Surely if this is their business practice, there should be a sign in the window to that effect, or something printed on the menus so that potential customers are made aware. It was just lucky I had some cash on me otherwise they wouldn't have been paid. I can't put my phone in a cashpoint to get money out ! I can't imagine any genuine reason why they can't take cards ??

Food good, service good, but wouldn't take card payment. Cash only ! No prior notice on door or window, not even in menus print. Only small notice in front of cash desk. Lucky I had some cash, otherwise they just wouldn't have got paid. I only use bank card through mobile phone, and I can't put that in a cash machine. This is extremely bad business practice. First visit -- last visit.

Lunch with friends. Friendly waitress. nothing too much. Just perfect for our day. Not rushed as i was catching up with friends xx

We popped in and asked were they dog friendly planning on eating outside if not Lovely young lady said they were but literally two seconds later an older lady came over and aggressively said they were not dog friendly, a couple who were walking in with us said how rude and they like us walked away, I went and Told the young assistant not worry and told the lady who was aggressive she was rude and I like the other couple won’t come back

I would have lunch here every day if we lived nearer. Jacket potatoes cooked to perfection. My husband always has their omelettes, and hasn't tasted better. Plus amazing value. Couldn't ask for more.

This was a call in visit, a good range on the menu and board. We chose breakfast, was a little bit late on being delivered as finished drinks first before food arrived. So i was invited to join in with some regulars for Sunday lunch time, I looked forward to it all week and was not disappointed. I had the roast lamb, Succulent and tasty. It was a big plate and I ate it all. Staff and service were lovely and didn't feel rushed . Looked like they had a lot of regulars which is a good sign, I will be going again. xx

Great food but cash only. No sign on the door or front windows to warn, no one told us at any point until we went to pay. Card payments would cost maybe 1.25 - 2% max. Won't be visiting again. Can't believe the business will survive long term unless they start taking card payments. This is 2023, not 1953. Cafe was 50% full but the hr we we there all 6 tables were reserved with a window / street view but no one sat there before we left. As I say great food buy shabby business model.

Ordered for 5 people for 17.00, arrived at 16.50 and they were still cooking it. Food was placed in my hands at 17.00, correct order, food hot and exactly what was ordered and not a clean plate in the house. Really great portion sizes too., Thank you Huffers

CASH ONLY?? 👎👎👎👎👎👎 Had a late lunch here recently and the food and prices were very good. Food came quickly. Waitress service acceptable, but they didn’t smile. Owners usually say thankyou to customers as they leave which is nice. It is also very clean. However…… I would’ve given a 5/5 if they took card payments. For some reason they only accept CASH and I feel this is inconvenient and old fashioned. When I come here I get tired of hearing them tell customers ‘CASH ONLY’ with the customers running out to get cash. Why cash only? It’s 2022 and most people pay by card. Please start accepting card payments!!

The food was poor, dirty oil I guess, as the taste of the breakfast was awful, and was over charged. £ 1.60 for an extra tea bag!!!!!!!!

I popped in with some work colleagues on the off chance as I was working in the area, the food was lovely and as you would expect for a full English from a cafe, prices was reasonable, service was pretty fast. My only criticism was the waitress who served us didn’t seem like she wanted to be there, walked off half way through taking our order, just a lack of customer service let this place down, could of been an off day.

My son had an oreo milkshake and he loved it. The staff were very patient with our rambunctious kids.

We have been on holiday in Hadleigh and called here for lunch one day. Hubby had an all day breakfast and I had a chicken wrap. The portions were generous, reasonably priced and the service was great. We would definitely return to this cafe.

Have just moved to the area, and were looking for a cafe that was open late afternoon. Very pleased to find a very varied menu at great prices. The food was lovely and the service was prompt and very friendly. This may well be my new favourite cafe, and we had the bonus of being able to sit outside to eat, watching various classic cars pass and generally watching the world go by.

Been a few times now with my sister and nephew good food and friendly staff highly recommended

Our daughter & her family visited this restaurant the week before us, they were impressed & recommended we give it a try. On entering the restaurant it looked as though all the tables were reserved, until a helpful member of staff pointed out one available table. We were so relieved as we were very tired after our visits to the gardens in the morning. When we placed our order for lamb shank & roast lamb we were warned there would be a wait as the restaurant was packed. We said we didn't mind, we were glad to have somewhere to sit in comfort. Our meals were really worth the wait. The only surprise was that they only take cash here, luckily that wasn't a problem for us this time. Due to Covid we are out of the habit of carrying much cash, which is why I have mentioned it here.

Weve been to this cafe many times and have left good reviews .... However took my parents today as were staying over for weekend sooooooo disappointed waitress was surely and stroppy didn't check back on how food was it was mediocre tutted and pulled a face when asking for milk and tomato ketchup. Mumms black pudding so dry she chocked rubbish...if you had checked back we could have told you and then charged us 31.00 pounds!!! Went to pay oh sorry only take cash now ummmm🤔 We won't be coming ever again shame ...

We have been going here for ages now, I have never seen a frown from any member of staff. That are happy to welcome regular and new customers with a smile and service that is second to none in the area. We have had different meals and haven't had a bad meal yet. Can't say that everywhere. So if you are in Hadleigh, Suffolk you really need to give this cafe a go, it is awesome. It is cash only here..

Called in for traditional lunch. I had roast lamb. My wife had roast chicken. Both excellent. Good veg selection. Not overcooked. Good portions. With tea and coffee tad over £25! Recommended for an unpretentious British food experience.

Both had jacket potatoes excellent size and hot with a nice garnish and reasonably priced sat outside all very civilised we will be back visited yesterday

I was in Hadleigh yesterday. i went to Huffers Cafe. They have incredible selection of fishs that are both as good as anything you will find in the World’s top eateries. i had a chance to try breakfast, fish and chips. This mouthwatering cafe serves best fish that are so good you’d hear people whispering about them around Hadleigh in hushed tones. But Hey, i think fish and chips and breakfast this good need to be shouted about. Every single element of the fish and chips has been perfectly thought through. A gem of a dish that shows that when food is this good, less is often more. Epic levels of tastiness with thicky, crinkly fries.I don’t even tell about special sauces, spice…They think of every details. Introduce this spot to a friend, and they will love you for life. Visited late morning for an impromptu coffee and bite to eat. Sat quickly and a drinks order taken. We had a hot chocolate, coffee and tea all of which were good. However, our two orders of pancakes were very disappointing. The menu detailed a fluffy american pancake stack with various sauces, we chose toffee. But when they arrived they were cold small and flat reminiscent of the pre-made ones you buy from a supermarket. With little to no sauce to accompany and two dollops of cream clearly from a can. Unfortunately the food was average at best for the price and we won't be back.

Arrived and they were busy so said to wait 5 -10 mins for a table to be free so we waited and then was seated, ordered our food from a wide variety of items. Our food was ordered and served within 10 mins, brillaint customer service and food service! 10/10 for taste, 10/10 for service.

Nice food and very reasonably priced. Waitress was very grumpy and there were no signs telling you that they actually don't accept card here and we were only told at the end when we went to pay. Had to walk down the street to the cash machine.
