What a superb discovery!! I stayed in the attached accommodation, the Barn, which was a very nicely appointed suite (with a sitting room, and kitchen). The pub was fantastic - cheery and welcoming (thanks to Debbie). Rachael was a brilliant member of staff: knowledgable and briskly efficient. The kitchen is really, really good, offering great food at fair prices.

A lovely clean pub with plenty of space and personality. We enjoyed our food very much, a nice menu which wasn’t too big but also a bit different from the norm. Mackerel pate to share, the red onion chutney was amazing. I enjoyed the chicken spinach and potato rosti, very flavourful and my husband enjoyed the burger. We would definitely return if we were in the area.

Great atmosphere, lovely country pub with a friendly resident hound, who came to our table for lots of cuddles. The chips were the best chips I've ever had! Ancient pub in an historic building at the centre of a quiet village. The Sunday lunch we had was excellent - my trad beef, the SO's nut roast and our companion's fish & chips were all top notch. Everything on my plate - which included a delicious onion marmalade - was first class. A small menu of well judged dishes which changes, we were told, monthly. A very good range of beer on tap and you could see, from the number of locals dropping in for a pint, that the pub is well used by the community. Added to my list of nearby pubs to drop along to.

Lovely old pub, with old school locals at the bar and families have Sunday rosts The food is lovely with just enough food on the plate, with it not being too much or too little, The only thing I will say what I got be negative about, is that I did not see what came with the rosts, and the here was way to much red cabbage. But other than that it was a lovely meal with lovely paintings on the wall, and friendly staff, inside a lovely old building what is from the 1400s So decently give this place a go

I thought that I knew most of the pubs in my area of this part of Suffolk having lived here for over fourteen years but stumbled across this one in the middle of nowhere. It was lunchtime and there was only one car parked outside which I thought didn't augur well. But on opening the door we could see many people occupying the place and their was a nice vibe. We were lucky enough to find a table right by the very warm and inviting log fire. Our food order was taken quickly and it soon arrived on our table look scrumptious. A very large obviously home-made pastry pie with the pastry complete surrounding a dark, melting, pull apart lamb feast which was delicate and delicious with an unctuous dark gravy sitting on a bed of light mash. We both thought that there was no way that we would do these plates justice but slowly we demolished the walls and the crusty pastry top and eventually cleared our plates. A good pint or two of beer too to wash it all down. We shall return and bring others to this lovely pub.

If you want to use that incredibly archaic tender called 'cash'....make sure you have the exact change. Otherwise you get scowled at and berated by the lady behind the bar like you've just shot her black cat. Apart from that an absolutely beautiful pub, in cracking setting, food super, and dog friendly. Would have been 5 stars. Reply: Thank you for your response re cash. I wasn't aware I had pulled out a note from my phone at that point. Just a polite, sorry have you got anything smaller would have done the trick. We sat in the garden and had lunch. I really don’t want to be unkind after a really tough year for the hospitality business and to be fair the staff were very pleasant and concerned but our lunch wasn’t great. Gritty, unwashed, dull salads, overcooked fish, dull, badly prepared and uninspired food. We rarely complain because it does tend to ruin the whole experience but the unwashed salads were actually inedible. One thing, the hamburger was good and there were people obviously enjoying their Sunday roasts. Perhaps they had a stand in because the chef was away; I hope so.

It’s so great to be able to visit the Six Bells again, and always worth the short trip. Whether eating inside or in the lovely gardens, the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed and the service efficient and very friendly.Aperitifs in the gardens, then inside to eat. Through starters, main course with fine wine, the meal was absolutely beautiful in cooking, taste and presentation all befitting a class restaurant, and the modest cost delivered fantastic value. And all in such a gorgeous pub which hasn’t been upstaged by pretention and vogue taste, and the chef and owners know they’re running an upmarket pub with excellent dining, not a minimalist art gallery with your meal as an exhibit. You will not leave still hungry and you’ll be able to afford the taxi home. So, if you want a real proper pub with proper food, get over to Preston St Mary where they do it right without the song and dance.

As a pool player for this pub I'm in here most days. What makes this pub the place to be is the character, the charm, the staff who make it such a cosy place to frequent. The food is amazing, my favourite by far is the roast dinners. Massive fan of then. The staff too are friendly and accommodating, even playing pool they come over and talk to you ask you about your day ect, their general attitude is very positive and it makes the experience that much better. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Keep up the great work!

Michael and Sheila have gone although the new "lady of the house" is actually Sheilas daughter. I appreciated we are in troubled times with a lot of pubs cutting back but a very limited menu will not impress previous customers, although the fish couldn't have been fresher. A big no is the owners children having the run of the pub, just imagine "grumpy" Michaels comments!!!.
