This is a great real ale pub with very friendly atmosphere. Generally 5-6 real ales on at any one time and a few traditional ciders. Live music, spoken word, quizzes etc. Dog and family friendly. Best way to describe it is a good village pub in town.

Very business but great atmosphere for an afternoons drinking.

Great beer. Shame about the dog wandering around barking at customers and waiting to get a mouthful of their food. The place has an odd smell about it too.

Played an open mic. Good atmosphere. I think the service was the jewel of the place. I didn't get to try or see the food, so can't comment.

The perfect brewery tap! No airs & graces, just a compact, functional, basic pub with some great quality real ale. Predominately Mauldon’s brewery beers but some excellent guest ales too. Hand pumps & gravity poured, premium quality ales. Very well supported by locals and deservedly so. Brilliantly managed pub.

Love this pub. Great beers and reasonable prices. Always a good atmosphere, friendly staff and a all round nice place to be for a drink. My favorite beer is the Silver Adder! Hope to return soon

Dropped in for quick catch-up with an old haunt from way back , lunchtime Friday warm well lit and fine selection of ales obviously managed cos staff we’re welcoming and bubbly (didn’t have obvious money worries with this cost of living crisis)

Very friendly pub, great staff, great drinks. You can order it bring takeaway to the pub too, which is excellent. Overall a really well run place, highly recommended.

No food just snacks but this didn't spoil our visit as the Brewery Tap offered a fantastic atmosphere and a lovely outside courtyard space a lovely surprise. Definitely, will be going back again

Didn't have food but had drinks, they had no Bacardi which surely is a must for a pub, it smelt horrible in there and the tables were sticky

The service really is something else in here. There has never been a time when I’ve gone in there and haven’t for waited ages to be served. The manager is probably the worst of the lot. How has he worked in a bar for years? Beer average. Unclean. And as for the annoying pub dog…..

Lovely boozer, serving Mauldons beers plus guests. No music, just pub games and a dog. What's not to like?

Absolutely love this real ale pub, super friendly (including the pub dog Silver). Selling locally brewed beer by Mauldon's - a Sudbury institution that have just celebrated their 225th year. A proper pub in a lovely town.

Not great. Scruffy and beer wasn't up to much

I was quite disappointed with my visit to this pub. It was my first time there and although the beer selection was good the older lady working behind the bar was very cold and unwelcoming not even a smile when we ordered. I get the feeling it’s more of a locals pub who don’t take kindly to outside visitors. It’s a shame really.

Friendly, comfortable pub serving a good range of beers along with a range of other drinks and snacks. They don't usually serve meals but they will let you eat your own takeaway at a table. They also maintain a calendar of social events including live music.

It's a proper ale House.Mauldon's and high quality products sold.Beer checked and place prepared before opening.No dodgy stale beer in the pipe here.

Always a fine selection of ales , unfortunately the bar billiards table has gone and over the last 2 years it has lost some of its cosiness.

If you're after a traditional pub feel this is what you are looking for. Featuring a good selection of beer and cider with guest kegs from guest brewers. This means there's often something new to try. Wooden furniture, wooden flooring, traditional pub décor, darts board and a billiards table. Small courtyard to the rear and really happy friendly welcoming staff. It really is a great pub, has a wonderful homely vibe to it and tends to draw in a pleasant friendly customer base.

We always visit the Brewery Tap when we're in Sudbury. It is a very friendly pub with great service and good beer and wine. And I love Silver the dog (and she quite likes me too now that she's a bit braver!)

Fantastic boozer- the best we visited in Sudbury. A great range of ales. We spent a few hurs there in a friendly atmosphere pretending that we were world beaters at dominoes.

Lots of great choices for beer, friendly nonthreatening atmosphere and dog friendly. This is more or less my local so perhaps i am biased but some pubs just have a "character" - the Brewery Tap caters for a better class of eccentric is a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Lovely service and tuti fruti cider was nice

This is a cool bar. The staff is very friendly and polite. What makes this bar is unique is that they have a variety of board games like checkers, Scrabble, Connect Four, Chess, Trivia Games, and more that you are free to use. Sometimes the staff puts out free appetizers which is nice as well. Parking is abundant.

A Brewery Tap is the pub closest to a brewery; thus the beers are always at their best. Mauldon'sBeers are not as well known as they deserve outside the area, but are one of the best in EastAnglia.

Mauldons' brewery tap just off-centre with a number of beers on. Bigger than you might think and reasonably comfortable. Give it a try!

This little local is a gem. They only serve snack food - rolls, pies and pasties, but you can order a takeaway to be delivered to the pub. The beer is exceptional. As the Mauldon's Brewery Tap, the ale is always well kept and some of the beers are poured straight from the barrel. Undercover smoking area out back where they have occasional beer festivals. With a Bar billiards table, dart team and golf team this pub is very community minded and they have live music from local bands. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. A great local and a must visit from beer lovers coming to this pretty town.

I am not a regular drinker but when the need does come over me the Tap is usually my first pint of call. It continues to offer a good range of real ales, with a good selection of guest beers regularly. The atmosphere is never so loud that a civilised conversation is impossible and their are no glaring electrical distractions. Service is always friendly even when knowledge of beer may be lacking.

Unusual decor on the walls there,but very good,staff polite,very helpful uswell, food enjoyable also.

Good atmosphere, they do a comedy night first Wednesday of each month in aid of Prostate Cancer! Don't take my word for it, come along!

A popular, proper pub, brewery owned (Mauldons), stocking their own fine, real ales and guest beers. Darts and bar billiards are played. Monthly Quiz, Comedy and Acoustic Music events and two annual beer festivals..... Two bonuses : No fruit machines and the telly only comes on for major sporting events.....brilliant !!!
