Called in twice this week while staying locally, always enjoy visiting here when in the area. Good selection of drinks on offer and a large choice of food all cooked to a very good standard at a fair price nothing is two much trouble. This really is a great pub and if we lived nearby I’d m sure we would be In There far too much ha ha. Well worth a visit and looking forward to going back again.

Lovely old small village pub that serves great food at unbelievable prices. Great value on their special food night's eg. Steak night Thursday, fish night Friday and Sunday roast. They also have entertainment on some weekends

Excellent traditional style pub. Food was exceptional. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. But best of all dogs are very welcome.

First time eating here and we were not dissapointed. Fantastic sunday dinner with so much food we were fit to burst, plenty of vegetarian food to choose or meat dishes and such a variety and very good price We had white and red wine and both very nice. Special nights and events could be seeing us more often.

I remember when Glemsford had 5 pubs..?! I come back now and again to visit my folks.. popped into the Angel and the landlord couldn't even muster a smile on Christmas Day! ALL our beers were served with short measures. We had a very low grade experience. With one real pub left in the village.. I'm just sad for the people of Glemsford!

Absolutely fabulous! After spending a day renovating,moving lots of concrete screed we needed a lovely meal and warmth,steak night fantastic value, food just the ticket, staff wonderful and the landlady,landlord also very friendly.We are booked in ...... can't wait to go back

A welcoming village pub near our B&B. We did note that meals weren`t always available at the time of our visit and closing times varied (Aug 2023). We only managed to have a drink before closing time, 9pm on the day of our visit. I think there were problems in the kitchen when we visited.

Walked the Stour Valley trail and called for lunch at the Angel Inn, more by luck than anything else. It was, our lucky day! Two of us had drinks, chips, chicken wings and salt and chilli squid for £20. However, I must say that my general perception is that you get what you pay for so expectations weren't too high. I couldn't have been more wrong. The food was absolutely first class. Plenty of it and so very tasty. I would recommend this establishment to everyone. Went here a couple of times over the weekend while staying locally with friends. Lovely selection of drinks on offered was pouring down on Saturday so ended up staying most of the afternoon. Locals all friendly and chatted to us. We then returned the next day for Sunday roast, again a good selection on offer all our food looked and tasted lovely, we have never had a bad meal when visiting this pub and have always found the owner helpful.

The missus and myself had a wonderful crab salad for lunch, followed by ice cream, all washed down with a few drinks, great food, great service, would definitely recommend the food.

Made to feel uncomfortable by the old miserable barman as if we were an inconvenience to him. Drinks were expensive and the glasses were dirty. He short changed us as well. Funny smell to the pub which put us off eating there even though they made it quite clear 'you have to book' or else you can't come in virtually.

This pub is a no frills heart of the village pub. The food is hearty good value with a good selection. Dogs are welcome and there are always free treats on the bar for them. Entertainment is provided regularly in their large marquie.

Pub smelt odd. Drinks expensive and rough. Glasses dirty. Lots of dogs. Barman unwelcoming. Couldn’t face eating there.

Very Dissatisfied and disappointed the owner confirmed a table for 3 for cream tea for 2pm and we travelled from Kent to find the opening hours had changed to open from 3pm so waited until 3pm to be told the owner was on holiday in Benedorm back the same evening and there was no food available. Well we had waited outside for an hour and the lady didn't even apologise and had the cheek to charge for 2 soft drinks and a coffee. Not even an apology from the owners on return awful to say the least. One of my friends went to the toilet and noted the kitchen and back area was rather dirty and said it was actually a blessing we didn't eat there. There were dogs running about and the place smelt of dogs. Tbh I dont think I would est there let alone drink there again after the smell and my colleagues poonts on hygiene.

What a warm and friendly place. Fantastic hosts, most reasonable prices and an amazing meal! Went on a Thursday and I had the most wonderful steak! Great quality, not fatty at all and was absolutely beautiful. My mother in law had the Scampi and said it was lovely. My partner had the sausage and mash. We had The Angel do a spread for a wake. The food was great, a good variety and plenty of it. The food was all freshly made, no frozen food. Would definitely recommend for a gathering. There was a marquee with all the food and tables, plenty of space for everyone. Great.

Called in for drinks and lunch on Saturday afternoon. Ordered our drinks and asked about food only to find kitchen was closed due to a large function tonight, manager spoke with the catering lady and she said not a problem she even changed chips for new potatoes for my wife. As before food was lovely and tasted good at a very reasonable price. This place is well worth a visit, great selection of food and drinks on offer .

Was staying locally so decided to try this pub for lunch, walked down with our two small dogs. Good choice of food on offer and some nice ales on draft, plus a good selection of gins for my wife. Food was to a good standard at a fair price. Well worth a visit if your in the area.

We arrived on a busy Steak Night without having booked, but our family of 5 was welcomed in and a table was quickly found. The steak was delicious, and came as ordered. The chips were just perfect, too! The portions were very generous. A steak meal is only £7.50, which represents outstanding value! We’ll definitely be going back!

We have just enjoyed a return visit to this popular locals' pub. The menu has something for all tastes and dietary requirements. Hence having sampled the platter of four light bites, chips and home-made coleslaw for £20 on one occasion we returned two nights later! On our 2nd visit they had a Steak night taking place - not something that appeals to me; so instead I had an excellent vegetarian pie accompanied by a selection of vegetables. All the menu is so reasonably priced - the 8oz steak and chips was £6, with the further options of additional sides at a few pounds each. And my hubby said the quality of the meat certainly lived up to his expectations. I would advise phoning in advance to make a reservation, and to confirm that food will be available.

A lovely tradition village pub great food and an amazing host Hazel made us feel like one of the locals from the first minute when we arrived until we left.

Big sign outside, saying food served from 12.00- 14.00.... It was 12.20 when we arrived, a Tuesday, open that day according to the notice,, but all locked up. The four of us were starving and thirsty. We walked through the Marquee at the back, shouted through the pub door, but no answer. So now we are thinking, maybe someone is sick, collapsed, should we investigate further. We decided to bang on the neighbours door, but on the way round, met someone in the street. After explaining the situation to them, we decided to move on. Oh dear we said in the car, as we executed plan B.

Seriously friendly, chatty locals, nice beer, very relaxed, the food looked good, we didn't eat there as fancied Chinese, but liked it so much we popped back in after our meal for a few more, posh George is mesmerizing, the poshest voice I have ever heard, could have listened to him all day! It's a real shame to have given a 2 star because everyone at the table said how beautiful there meal was however as a vegetarian, I was given a chicken pie instead of a cheese and potato pie. After speaking to a member of staff they brought out a (i'm assuming a microwaved pie) after about 5/10 mins which the pastry was to hard to eat. Even though I said I didn't want the meal replaced because everyone else had finished there meal. On top of this I was still charged full price for my meal.

Arrived late one evening to meet with 7 work colleagues. As well as a bloody good pint, the service was exemplary. This was offered up by Hazel who is just brilliant. Pint running low, no problems, the next was ready poured just in time, no asking. Really bubbly lady with a hell of a sense of humour. Rachael took over for the last part of the evening. The service just continued as before.

Tired looking pub and beer garden, all drinks we had were fine but served by the most sullen, unfreindly and unwelcoming what i presumed to be landlord, unfortunately we will not be visiting again, you would imagine in this day and age of hard times for the pub trade especially in rural locations you would do your upmost as a landlord to make the customer and family feel welcome to try to ensure repeat custom, not in this case unfortunately, very disappointed.
