We had the private dining room for a late Sunday lunch and it was fabulous. The staff are so relaxed and friendly and Dean was such a great host. The food is superb and so tasty. After lunch we moved through to relax on the Parker-knolls for more banter and drinks. Had such a lovely time we returned two days later and have booked the private dining room again in December for their Christmas menu.

Great food, lovely staff and a welcoming, homely atmosphere. We ate there with friends and had the Sunday lunch. Everybody in the group said their meals were delicious. Prices were what you would expect. The staff were very attentive and made you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. We also ate there on a Friday night and it was just as good. Liver and bacon was a winner 🥇

We visited the Bell for Sunday lunch. It's a lovely old pub situated in the beautiful village of Kersey. The staff are very friendly. We all had a Sunday roast which was fabulous, best I've had in ages. My partner had the vegan nut roast and said it's the best he's had! We will definitely return 😊😋

We are so glad we found this pub. The staff went out of their way to accommodate my husband and I with our dog on a busy Sunday. We enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner, that was so fresh and tasty that we only had room to share a pudding. This wasn't an issue at all. Our apple and autumn berry crumble was brought out with two spoons and again this did not disappoint! It was homemade, served hot and tasted amazing! Thank you to all the staff that cooked our meal and made us so welcome. We would not hesitate to return when we are next in the area and would recommend it to others.

We had a wonderful dinner at The Bell last night with friends, our first time there. What a beautiful old building, full of character. The staff were absolutely lovely with a sense of humour. Thank you to Lila and Sasha who looked after us. Delicious food arrived quickly; steak & ale pie, fish & chips and tender chicken. We were too full for dessert and pushed for time, so instead had coffees, and these arrived with wonderful homemade shortbread biscuits on the side. Fantastic. Thank you to all at The Bell. Ordered a beer, when served flat and sour, asked politely for a replacement, would of thought I'd walked in with shoes covered in dog mess. They did check and the beer was from the end of they barrel, this was changed, however offed a replacement without even pulling through what was in the pipe, stuck with one of the alternatives on offer.

We came here by chance on a day out exploring the Suffolk countryside. Nice warm welcome by a very friendly man behind the bar (perhaps the owner) and we’re happy with a good range of drinks to choose from. The venue is very quaint with lots of character in a gorgeous village. The place was clean and warm inside. We had lunch which was absolutely delicious and quite possibly the nicest soup starter I’ve ever had! We will definitely be returning.

Great atmosphere, amazing bar and waiting staff and all three of the chefs are so on it - we've eaten at various times and days and everything has been excellent. Great fish dishes perfectly cooked, excellent roasts and all the pub classics including the home made pie, steak and fish and chips have been superbly executed. Disappointing organisation and poor service Super old pub but needs to do much better than this!! Food was okay but certainly not startling. Booking dinner for 9 family members should be welcomed by any restaurant but I was left to chase up preorder details and deposit payment details. Original contact unable to deal with this. Order emailed through by me but had to seek confirmation and manager apologised for the difficulty and promised "a good dining experience on the night" Our family group was seated in a side room which nice but rather cramped. Dining chairs needed the crumbs brushing off before you sat down! Dinner at 6pm meant restaurant was not busy on arrival but the staff still seemed rushed Mains served but not as ordered and one meal was missing which was disappointing for us and seemingly "inconvenient" for them albeit their mistake. There was no follow up on whether any further drinks were required at table and a very long wait for the main course to be cleared. One waitress tried her best the other was brusque (rude) literally flinging cutlery to the far side of the table reaching across people without apology. I fear that my dining experience more greasy spoon than the quality restaurant you might expect!

Missing a trick! Popped in for a light lunch whilst out for an all day cycle ride. Asked for the menu and the evening menu was all that was available! Asked for the light bites option (as advertised out front) and was pointed towards the starters! We just wanted a baked potato, a filled baguette, a small pasta, a sausage roll, maybe an all day breakfast or a slice of cake but nothing appropriate on the menu at all. Ended up with a bag of crisps and moved on. Lovely old pub and I'm sure it's perfect for an evening meal but definitely does not cater for the passing daytime trade.

Wonderful lunch in the most picturesque setting imaginable. Kersey surely must be one of, if not the quaintest village in England, and the pub is a credit to its unique surrounding. Nice old pub, good food, pleasant staff, however 3 very elderly regulars who clearly did not appreciate their Thursday lunchtime routine interrupted. Had the nerve to interrupt a private group of people to say “you should have booked the girls are rushed off their feet” Firstly it’s a public house, secondly no need to book as per website and thirdly the staff are getting paid they are not working for free which is exactly what I said to this once a week customer. Good beer and a chef who obviously knows what they're doing. I had the lamb and mushroom pie which was really delicious. I mean, it's a pub pie but the depth of flavour was superb. My Father had the fish and chips, and it was simply too much for him to finish. Also delicious with a huge, crispy, fresh piece of cod. It's been a while since I was last here, and I gather they are under new management, but boy are they doing something right. My only tiny issue - both tables in the room were complaining it was a little chilly (and it's only November so I wonder what it'll be like later on in the winter...)

When I booked for five of us for a Sunday roast, I expressly asked if you did a vegetarian Sunday roast and three of our party do not eat meat and I was told that you did. This turned out not to be the case at all. The only vegetarian option was tomato linguine and we didn't want this as we can make this easily and quickly at home any time. Instead, we were offered a plate of more of the standard roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables, which were all nice enough, but there should have been a nut roast, a vegan pastry pie or wellington or something to go with the vegetables! The vegetables and gravy were all nice enough and well cooked, but to charge us £20 each for a plate of vegetables - the same and the meat roasts, is OUTRAGEOUS. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful but overall, this was a massive disappointment and I think we deserve a complementary meal when you update your menu to make it more welcoming for vegetarian and vegan diners.

The Bell is a beautiful pub, but that's the nicest thing I can say about my visit. Not enough staff, and the staff that were there were either complaining loudly about other staff members or making out with one of the customers. The chefs had to keep coming out the kitchen to chase them up. The menu was really lacking and overpriced for the quality of the food. Opted for the chicken burger, I was expecting a chicken breast or thigh but got underseasoned chicken mince patty, and a garlic sauce that just didnt go. You can tell the chef's heart isn't in it. Compliments to McCains for the fries, I guess. Any chance you can buy different bags of frozen chips so people can have fish and chips instead of fish and fries? Desserts were promising on the menu but bland on the plate, can I get the name of the factory they were from so I can complain directly to whoever made them? The whole meal was underwhelming. The only thing we were overwhelmed with was the flies. So many flies everywhere inside.

Two hot chocolates, two coffees and a small glass of milk for a toddler. Most places would throw in the milk for free, or charge 50p or whatever. Not here, where instead there was an espresso we hadn't had on the bill for £3. Queried this and told "we don't have a button for milk" as though that is my problem not theirs. Mentioned that £3 for a small glass of milk is extremely steep, just met with shrugs and a dismissive "I know". I get that hospitality is having a hard time of it, but they seem plenty busy and frankly I don't like being fleeced. How about you keep your customers happy and take it off the bill? Also had food a few months ago after new ownership, which was frankly nothing to write home about, although it may have improved in the meantime. I doubt we'll be back to find out, though, given the attitude on display.

It amazes me how this bar has a decent rating, well, they must be from friends of the bar. The bar is only open part time, and why is that? Because the only people it attracts is the local druggies and lowlifes. You won’t find anyone with any kind of standards drinking here, and trust me, you’ll be surrounded by 16 to 25 year olds. It seems the Ark is happy with this clientele, as the majority of Brantham know it’s known for this kind of thing. This “bar” is a failing business and will continue to be, unless it actually makes the effort with attracting the right customers who will make others comfortable drinking there. This bar is bad news and I would avoid. I have lived in the village for a long time and it’s such a shame, but you hear all kinds of rumours about it. Every time I drive past it seems it’s never open. If you prefer somewhere a little more classy then try the Brantham bull. The Brantham bull makes effort to provide a service for the elderly and actually wants to succeed.

The food was delicious and everyone at the table recommended it! However the service was poor. We had to wait quite a long while after seating to be asked for drinks. We ordered food at the same time. Our drinks arrived after the food. We ordered second drinks after main, they arrived after the desert. Both times the drinks order was wrong. One side order was never brought.

Had a nice afternoon tea and cake. Fortunately we had a booking as the cafe was busy. Some nice local honey/ jams produce. Lots of parking available, great time.
