The Taproom in Huntingdonshire

I was really hoping for a good experience at The Tap Room, but sadly it fell short. From the outset, we were met with an unfriendly attitude from the staff. The person at the bar initially seemed put off by our presence—possibly because we weren’t dressed up. That’s no excuse for poor service. I ordered lemonade with no ice but received it with ice. We waited 45 minutes for our food, only to find out they had lost our order. Meanwhile, better-dressed customers who arrived later were served promptly. The place wasn’t busy, and our food should have been quick to prepare. While the decor is decent and the space fairly clean, the food was overpriced and average at best. Staff behind the bar appeared to be enjoying their own conversations more than attending to customers. This place has potential, but the lack of attention and professionalism really lets it down.

Slow service , run out of mushrooms , i mean mushrooms on all day breakfast! Staff behind bar very off! They cant cope wot people more than two! Give it a moss

Whenever I visit my brother we go to the Taproom, there are always people, it’s lovely in the evening and the place is cosy and modern. They serve a few dishes which are tasty and well cooked, they also have a wide variety of drinks and sometimes they have live music

We booked a table for lunch a few weeks ago. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful waiter. We asked if we could move outside, but when looking there was only a little table with condiments on in the corner in the that the manager (who was sat at the only sunny table) offered to clear for us. We declined and sat inside near the bar which was still lovely as they opened the windows to the street so it felt like we were outside. We ordered at the bar (separately but immediately after each other and we were all chatting to the waitress together so it was very clear we were together). Two of us ordered the nachos. While we were ordering there was a waiter walking around with some nachos looking for where they should go. He came to check behind the bar a couple of times and went in and out of the kitchen with them after walking around the restaurant a bit with them. Between me ordering at the bar and sitting down they had arrived at my table, despite us being told there was a 30min wait for food. We asked them to check it was ours, and were told they were just prepared quickly. The cheese was all congealed and they weren’t hot. I queried again and the waitress let me know that they were made as a mistake but were my order so they gave them to us. I said I’d prefer to eat with my two friends who had a 30 min wait and not have one that’s been sitting for a while. She was very helpful and took it back to the bar. Up to this point all the staff had been so helpful and polite. Unfortunately they were let down by the manager who came storming out and told us off like children, saying that if we wanted it all together we should have said at ordering. She said she made it by accident but now we’re creating waste for her business and she needs to think of her overheads! She was very aggressive and we were all very taken aback and people were staring at us. Had we not paid already we would have left. The dish was her mistake so I don’t see why I should have to lump that. If people ordering separately is causing problems, perhaps she could look at her own policies (if people from the same table order separately they could ask whether they would like it all together). We were made to feel very unwelcome (only by the manager - the other staff all looked quite apologetic and embarrassed by her and said she was stressed). It was no way to treat paying customers and really ruined our first get together since having babies.

Friendly staff. No table service. Spraying tables whilst eating. Food was VERY good! Floors were dirty throughout. Really Did NOT like the amount of dogs inside when serving food. Staff were fussing over dogs then entering kitchen/bar which is NOT hygienic. They should at least have a separate area for dogs instead of letting them everywhere. Not sure I would go again tbh.

Marvellous lunch for four and a dog. Very friendly staff, great food and service, all at a responsible price. Home-made fishcakes and hollandaise sauce with a free-range poached egg with a golden runny yolk. Another all day breakfast and chilli nachos, freshly made, locally sourced food - thankyou

My friend had booked a small group of us in for Christmas dinner this Thursday and paid a deposit. We were asked to pay for the whole meal upfront today via a link, so I offered to call in to get more details. Chloe was kind, and passed me to the manager, who was instantly aggressive. She said it was their policy for meals to be paid in full in case of no-shows, I suggested that was what a deposit is for. But as it was clear she wasn't going to change her mind and we would end up paying anyway, I asked how we could all pay individually. At this point she told us not to bother coming and hung up on me. I called back (in tears) to make sure my friend would get her deposit back and Chloe explained that the manager is stressed. We're all stressed, but we don't behave in that way with human beings, especially in the service industry. Thanks for the memories Taproom, it has been good, but I won't be back.

I recently enjoyed the Norris Breakfast at The Tap Room in St Ives, and it was absolutely outstanding. Beautifully cooked and bursting with flavour, each component was perfectly prepared and presented. The atmosphere added to the experience, with a cozy vibe and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. From the quality of the ingredients to the care in every detail, The Tap Room really knows how to deliver an exceptional breakfast. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting St Ives!

We went for breakfast today and it was fabulous, beautifully cooked and really lovely friendly staff served us! Dog friendly too! I really recommend The Taproom!

Different Unique POSH Spots for Perfect Pictures, like the Restaurant, the Bar, Lounge Areas, Beer Garden etc but it's BEAUTIFUL Cozy though, like at Home feel with Amanda & her Sweet dogs, her Employees Omg them I can't Stop Myself talk about Tommy, Ashley, All of them have been Excellent just a Reflection of Amanda♡ Oh Live Music What? YES that too has been Amazing at the TAPROOM just QUALITY Really at a Great Price! We Literally come to St. Ives from Cambridge just to go there. Brought Our Kids THEY LOVED IT! Yes, it's a Kid Friendly Place too which I LOVE, just like that One Perfect Spot that has Everything to Entertain you & your kids. Dog Friendly was a Plus for Us♡ just PERFECT.

Great atmosphere. Was just visiting St Ives from Cambridge with a mate, wanted some coffee. We both had chai lattes, were served quickly and checked on by a very lovely lady, I think her name was Meeve. I was also very tempted by a great cake selection, might come back for a bite. Decor's fab, too, good vibes

My husband and I went here for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which was lovely. A very generous helping of salmon. My husband had the full breakfast and enjoyed it. Friendly staff and good service in a nice atmosphere.

Don't buy the all day breakfast . We had an hour wait until they bought out half my sons food minus the chips and my daughters burger.Aparently everything else was just being plated up .Fifteen minutes later the waitress asked if we were still waiting for something. five minutes later my wife's vegetable tart turned up . another tem minutes later my sons chips and the worst excuse for an all day breakfast turned up . I don't think she was joking when she said it was being plated up twenty five minutes ago . The hash brown was a mess with added chips for some reason ? the bacon didn't need cutting just snapping. I accept this was at a busy time and everyone else was waiting but I don't think it's too much to expect to eat at the same time as my family or to get a breakfast at least as good as I could make at home . You would be better off going to a local cafe . We won't be returning .

Beautiful place,clean,friendly staff,relaxed,just round corner from river.I had all breakfast...minus beans!(so extra egg!) Bottomless brunch available,good choice wines,sweet treats,burgers etc Also great seating for a weary traveller!

I visited St Ives with a friend for a lovely summer Saturday out! We chose The Taproom for lunch as it looked busy and had a good plant based menu. However, we both ordered the loaded homous flatbread with ‘extra’ halloumi and were really disappointed. Whilst the flatbread looked small for the price (£12.50) it looked quite appetising… but it wasn’t really that tasty. The ‘extra’ halloumi we paid for was really disappointing as we only got 1 slice of halloumi for £3! In addition, the pomegranate was fizzy and definately off - and the fresh mint was non-existent. We did feed this back (politely) to the waitresses, who were very pleasant, but the manager did not even come and apologise or talk to us. I do not normally do reviews but was so disappointed by this over-priced meal that I felt it was my duty so others don’t waste their money. We will not return.

10000% recommended very friendly staff. The owner was friendly made you feel welcome!!! Food was amazing fast service made you feel like you whete the only ones there even though they where very busy. I mean what more could I say !!!

Just spend a glorious day in St Ives. We ate at the Taproom as we had an amazing lunch there on our last visit. The food was delicious and the service was very good. Lovely atmosphere and very comfortable seating inside and out. Amanda was so friendly and we will definitely be back again. We recommend the Caesar salad very scrumptious.

Great place to drink and eat. Great staff who always welcome you in. The venue has good seating inside and out. Some evenings, mainly Thursdays, Fridays and at the weekends, various music entertainment is laid on and always gets a great response. Recommended venue.

We visited this bank holiday Monday and had fab service from Tom, Jake and Jess. The chef KB did amazing food. Amanda greeted us at the door. What a friendly bunch of staff.

We were a group of six having a bottomless brunch. The Food was great and the drinks were from a good selection to suit all tastes The team served with smiles and charm...and kept us updated on the 90minute countdown Thanks to Emily, Lydia, Christina, Lisa and Tom for managing front of house....especially as two of the girls were just a few days in We will keep coming back

Went for lunch with some friends, found the food portions very small. For example, on a vegetarian breakfast there was about 2 mushrooms a tiny grilled cherry tomato. My friend had the all day breakfast and was very disappointed as well. For the price, it definitely wasn’t worth it

Fabulous service, really friendly environment and great food. On the bottomless brunch, they’re not stingy - definitely book here ☺️ in particular, they make sure you’re well looked after and that you’re enjoying yourself!

We’ve been here a few times now and the food is always good. Service is excellent too (this time Izzy was the star of the show for us). Would thoroughly recommend.

Been here several times for drinks and food. Both are good quality. Happy Hour every day 5-6pm is well attended, first time we came we didn’t realise and bought a large round at 2mins to 5. Wish the staff member had told us, would have saved us a fortune. Oh she did tell us as she brought the drinks over (just not at 2mins to 5)! It’s a good vibe in here and good mix of people/ages and live music. Owners two staffs are often running around together and although the place is ‘dog friendly’ the two are very territorial and sometimes it’s felt really uncomfortable, around the other dogs.

Wow..... Steak night was absolutely amazing. Thank you Tim cooked to perfection. The place is beautifully done. Service was fantastic and staff were very pleasant and attentive. I heard the taproom were doing Johnsons sausages again, so had to check out there breakfast as it's been a while. It was fantastic, the sausage was massive, it was very impressive indeed. The egg was perfectly cooked and the bacon was pretty damn good. Will be frequenting the taproom again now they are are back with the quality goods.

Impromptu visit today as I was passing walking my dog and just fancied some breakfast on a miserable January morning. The breakfast was fantastic as always. High quality ingredients used. Really nice coffee and lovely place to visit even for just a coffee or beer, etc. Staff always welcoming and friendly and always check everything ok. Probably one of the only places in St Ives that I feel comfortable visiting alone, but have also been with family. Good choice on menu for both breakfast and lunch and they usually have a ‘specials’ menu too! They are super dog friendly which is a must for me - they even have a doggy menu. Highly recommended and will be back again soon.

My wife and I stopped off to visit St Ives on a Friday morning in October and decided to have a "light" lunch before heading home. We chose The Taproom as it looked modern and quite spacious and had sandwiches on the menu. The staff were young, adopted Covid19 procedures (including wiping the handles on the main door on a regular basis) and were friendly. We each ordered a toasted club sandwich plus a portion of skin on fries to share plus a drink each. The food was delivered after approx 15 minutes and was excellent - especially the large bowl of piping hot fries (very lightly salted) . Individual small pots of mayo and ketchup were brought to us upon request.

Jim the chef / cook always delivers. Great food anytime we have visited. Sometimes a bit of a wait but well worth it. Breakfast / lunch all good

We stopped here for breakfast, nice place, excellent service, unhurried, calm, relaxing atmosphere, with excellent food. Recommended

Pleasant staff and we felt safe with regard to the measures put in place re Covid19. Food was lovely but there was a 45 minute wait (which we were told about when we ordered). All in all, no major reasons to be unhappy. Will return again.

We booked a table for Midday for a light lunch. We arrived at 12 but then had to wait whilst our pre booked table table was prepared. The courtyard garden is lovely The menu looked good with plenty of choice ; we both ordered the toasted cheese and avocado sandwiches with chilli jam, salad and crisps and a portion of skin on chips to share. After waiting for 40 minutes we asked where our food was , ( this was meant to be a quick lunch mid shopping) it did eventually arrive, but in stages, and with several prompts from us for cutlery, salt and pepper and the advertised crisps ; which was really rather awkward. At 12.48 pm we were able to eat. The sandwich was remarkable in it’s total lack of any flavour, the filling was sparse ( given it’s lack of flavour that could have been a blessing) The crisps were fine and the skin on chips were good. The staff were polite and friendly but disorganised .

This has been my 3rd visit to taproom during the Help out to Eat out scheme. Good to see Amanda back working and running the show. Service was quick, efficient and polite compared to the previous nights. Everyone seemed more relaxed, the food was delicious with no errors and the drinks as good as ever. Hope to see Amanda back again :)

Food was excellent. Staff were busy on such a hot day, but went out of their way to ensure that everyone was seen to. We look forward to returning again soon.

We have been here twice in the last few weeks, once before the eat out to help out scheme and once during. We find the food good value for money, particularly the nachos, and have never had a problem with the staff. In fact, on our last visit, it was very busy due to the eat our etc scheme, but three different waitresses came to take our order. All were efficient and polite. We were advised of a delay due to the high demand and the food came within the relevant timescale. We will be back again!

I have visited a few times with friends and family since lockdown. The staff are always friendly and efficient . The food is delicious and there is a varied menu. Really cannot fault the Taproom, my favourite place to visit in St.Ives.

Bad service due to inexperienced kids running a restaurant. Food was lacking in presentation. We had to ask for condiments and cutlery. We are of the opinion there was no value for our money!

Shown to tables that had been wiped down, in the patio area and in the shade. Good selection of food which although took a long time to deliver was fine. Peasant staff.

Stopped in for a quick meal after spending the afternoon walking around the Fen Drayton Lakes with my son in the school holidays. With COVID-19 going on we booked the table online and the Covid experience was seamless and well executed.Food was excellent (burgers with everything) and cask beer well kept and served.Service was quick and friendly.Definitely want to return.

We popped in for lunch, it was a very nice place, food was lovely, we were served by a very friendly girl, who was very polite & good with kids, made them laugh, she stood out with her hair, not sure what she said her name was, think it was Cara or something like that. Will defo call again when in town.

I was impressed from the initial appearance of the bar I feel first impressions do count and seemed very inviting. Ellie served us and was absolutely fantastic couldn’t fault her whatsoever. The cocktails are a must they are made so beautiful and taste perfectly! I’d recommend this place and would visit again.

Love being there, very nice atmosphere and the tunes were rather chill. I was served by Krisztina, who was very polite. The facilities were AWSOME!

From the friendly service to high level quality of food, our visit to The Taproom in St Ives was a really enjoyable one. Their menu promises locally sourced produce, homemade burgers and other dishes, and fresh ingredients. It appears they deliver on all fronts.The House Vegan Burger is terrific, one of the best vegan burgers I have had lately. So too is the Traditional Taproom burger, made using one-hundred per cent British beef. Extra guacamole for 1 GBP can be added and, again, it’s easy to tell when food is freshly prepared as this appeared to be as well. The side salads were dressed with balsamic glazing and sprinkled with tiny slices of red onion; the sweet potato fries properly done and brioche buns finely toasted.It was, overall, an unexpected delight and one I shall be sure to tell many others about. Excellent food.

Always a port of call for me on a weekend for drink with friends. Everyone behind the bar is friendly and the chefs are fantastic. Kristina and Annabelle are always ready with a smile.

Great food but be prepared for a long wait. There are a few colouring books for the kids but I’d advise taking your own. They are welcoming to families but not really totally set upfor them given the waiting time for food. The food itself is very good with a good variety

We have been here quite few times forDrinks but not to eat.we managed to find a table probably more easy as just 2 of us.they have a fairly good choice of food and a separate vegan menu.i had an excellent chicken burrito with really good sweet potatoes really fresh and filling. My wife had a Brie topped burger also with sweet potatoes which she really enjoyed.all in all a great fresh tasty lunch and not to pricey. The drinks are a bit more expensive than your average pub and the don't have any proper real ale.but a decent selection of most drinks. Note this place can get really busy at nights.

We were in here over Christmas and the food and drinks are always good - the youngish boy/man that served us was very helpful and friendly. Great bar in St Ives.

The Taproom is a local gem to the town, situated next to the river and the old bridge, the place is great for all occasions.. coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner.. in the evenings can be lively! The staff are friendly and fun! Have been visiting many times and thoroughly recommend! 5 stars and two thumbs up ! :)

We were recently in St. Ives for the Illuminated Boat Parade and had our dog with us. We were struggling to find somewhere nice to eat when we spotted the "dogs welcome" sign by The Taproom's main entrance. The entrance to the dog-friendly garden is around the corner, off The Quay, rather than the street and, after passing through a quaint gated passageway, we found ourselves in a lovely enclosed courtyard garden. It was a chilly evening so we appreciated being out of the wind and the patio heaters were VERY effective. We ordered a Ranch Burger and the Calamari and both were delicous. I'd clasify the Calamari as a light bite though so, if you are particularly hungry, you might want to order an extra side to go with it. Staff were pleasant and attentive and we also noted that they were happy to supply bowls of water for doggy visitors on request. For Pokémon GO players, there are two pokestops within range of the garden. All in all, we'll be more than happy to return.

Staff were friendly enough but we were a bit confused whether it was table service or not as they took our drinks orders but after waiting a while we went up to the bar to order food. Most of the group said their food was fine but those that had the burgers found them very dry.

This is a regular place for us to visit, up to now!

Fine up until they announced they were closing an hour early due to slow business and told us it was last orders. Served our drinks and then almost immediately started hassling us to drink up and get out. Got rude and turned the lights up. Never going back.

This is a trendy place with prices to match, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is overpriced for what is available and the bar in late evening is packed tightly and probably unsafely so

Fairly limited menu: pizza, hamburgers and salad, with the occasional special of pasta. But all done well, good helpings, well presented and fresh, BUT, you have to go to the bar to order anything which if you're dining with friends is a nuisance. I'm sure it helps from the point of view of running the restaurant, but it would deter us from returning.

About 6 of us dropped in on a Saturday afternoon. Very nice to sit there with the windows all open and watching the world go by.

We ate here on both days of our stay in St Ives. Amazing food, only problem was you have to wait an hour to receive it but got to say it’s worth the wait and I would definitely return again.

If around St. Ives I do visit infrequently. It's simply overpriced! lagers are all strange brands & so expensive. Has looked run down for years & years. Have seen the odd excellent live band here but the venue was dead! Felt embarrassed for the acts! As it's so rundown & pricey I've never wanted to eat here. When it's busy it's got an energy but the environment doesn't warrant the pricing!

Unfortunately, I cannot really provide a review of this restaurant's food or drink because, just before we reached the restaurant, my elderly mother suffered a serious fall in the street. However, the staff (and indeed their customers) were simply fantastic. They provided a chair for her to sit in in the street while she got her breath, rang 999, then provided somewhere to sit in the restaurant and brought tea and biscuits while we waited for the ambulance. They were constantly attentive and would not even take payment for the, actually very nice, chicken caesar wrap which I had to go. Thank you so much Taproom - if we ever make it back to St Ives we will definitely be seeing you again!

Great bar with a very good range of drinks and a good music selection with a nice mix of new stuff and classic. My friends and I have spent the last 2 NYEs here and a couple of weekends throughout the year. Would definitely recommend.

Ate there on mother day day un the early afternoon. Kids portion sizes seemed completely mismatched. Large bowl of pasta for child, and little more than a dozen fries and a chopped up small sausage for the other. One stuffed one still hungry.

I like to go there on my own. Friendly staff. Looks like a bar on the continent. Can have food or just drinks. Kitchen close quite early. Music quite loud. Vegan options. Will come back!

Good venue, beautiful setting for a summer's day by the river. Regular live music. Cosy lounge area for the daytime. Varied menu with good food. Lively night venue open until the early hours. Furniture could be arranged better for the busier nights

I have always had a good night here. I celebrated my 40th birthday at the Taproom and ur was brilliant. All of my friends and family had a great night. The band were brilliant and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, both in the lead up and on the night - they keep checking we were all having good time and the food from the kitchen was lovely, spot on! I definitely recommend it here.

Loved the atmosphere in the taproom. It strikes the perfect combination of café, restaurant and bar. The vegan menu was vast with both comfort food, wholefood and healthy food options. All reasonably priced and creative.

We were very impressed with all aspects of this cafe/bar. The staff came across as both friendly and sincere and nothing was too much trouble. We were also impressed by the inclusiveness of the menus which catered for carnivores,vegetarians and vegans. As vegetarians we very much appreciated this and were not let down by the veggie breakfast. One of the best we have had anywhere. Everything was cooked perfectly and of high quality. Our first visit and sure to be back! Thank you!

The surprise is that a place like this, in a lovely Cambrigeshire backwater, is so vegan-friendly. Set on the historic high street, near the bridge with impressive views up and down the Great Ouse, it is a light and airy modern space. The selection of alchololic drinks justifies the name. On a Friday lunchtime just before Christmas, it was absolutely heaving. The staff were brilliant and coped really well.

I think this place does well because of the location and its a pleasant place to sit because the food is below average. The previous occasion we had lobster burger which for £.8.50 was a little fishcake in a bun - could not taste any lobster. This time I had linguini with meatballs. Chef -have you ever heard of salt? Its used in cooking and is an essential ingredient in the seasoning process. This meal was utterly bland. Gordon Ramsey would have dismissed this one. No salt at the table either to correct the chef;s incompetence. My son's Penne with chorizo and chicken he tells me was poor - only the chorizo part of it made it palatable. FFS get your act together and give people tasty quality food for their hard earned money.

We always head to the Taproom first on an evening out, it is probably the buisiest bar in the town. Every once and a while it also offers some really good live music.

I live in the Washington DC area and try to visit family in Saint Ives once a year. When there, I always go to the Tap Room. The service,the food and atmosphere are 5 stars.

I come here all the time for the vegan menu, it’s really creative and they offer indulgent options as well as healthy ones. Service has always been good and the garden is nice in the summer. Huge range of drinks and they play good music!

Popped in for a little lunch date and was very pleased with the food, service and atmosphere! We ordered the chicken and spinach tagliatelle, naked burger and loaded fries and were even given a free garlic ciabatta! Would definitely visit again or recommend to a friend ☺️

I visited this pub as the member of a band, the weirdest thing, and was very impressed with the quality of the pub and its prime location by the river.

Decided to celebrate the anniversary iof my move from France to the UK with another visit to the Taproom Treated my brother to lunch. We both had a pleasant hour consuming just what was needed for a threshold -of-winter light repast. His wrap contained chicken: mine was from the (extensive) Vegan menu and was very tasty with just the right amount of spices and seasoning. My pink prosecco went down perfectly with it. The service was charmingly excellent.

Popped in for a couple of drinks and had cheesy chips with chilli beef! LOVELY! Great place to pop in for snack and drinkies!
