Take a step back in time in this old time tavern/inn. The atmosphere, an updated take on a colonial tavern is warm and welcoming. The service is spot on and ever willing to go the extra mile. They were sold out of the chicken pot pie but the staff pulled together enough for a complimentary appetizer sized chicken pot pie for our table to enjoy. We have never had anything but spectacular food here and you will too.

Terrible food. High prices. Ordered a aged new York strip 48.00 recieved a very tuff t bone cut. Way TOO loud. Diner for 3 was $250. Recommend pass

OVERRATED. I’ve waited to write this review until my second visit. Mine and my wife’s first encounter was two years ago on our anniversary we ate at the White Horse expecting exceptional food as its legacy has lead us to believe. Boy how we were wrong my $42 filet was improperly cooked and wife’s pasta was worse than frozen stouffer’s. We received a $150 gift card and assumed FREE white horse must be better than paid. So again 5/9/24 our anniversary again roles around and we try white horse inn. And they disappointed yet again. All the rage is the Brussel sprouts and all they are is $1 worth of burnt Brussel sprouts absolute garbage. I then ordered the 40 day dry aged New York strip at $48 and I couldn’t have been more disgusted they absolutely botched the cook on this steak and it was so fatty of the 14oz steak I could only eat maybe 6oz and that being generous. My wife’s ribeye still fatty tasted better. AVOID this place and go to Texas Roadhouse. I should have donated my gift card.

Dined here for the first time (5/4/24). Had a great meal celebrating a friend's retirement! The staff was attentive, courteous, and doted over us even though the restaurant was crazy busy. I had the prime rib done to perfection (med-rare) with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans and broccoli. The prime rib was a close second to the best I've eaten. Everyone at the table raved about their food. I skipped dessert, but those that had one needed to share due to the size. Overall, it was a most pleasant experience! I truly can't wait for a return visit!

We really enjoyed our time here! We visited the general store across the street while we waited for our reservation time - that was a great stop and I recommend it also. I had the ribeye and it was delicious. The decor and scenery here is wonderful. It is really a beautiful place with the history. The menu was a great variety and there were some unique menu items, including the house made pickles. The warm chocolate chip cookies for my friend's birthday was a nice gesture! I would come back!

Upscale restaurant great for a romantic dinner or friendly get together. The wait staff is absolutely amazing. The drink selection is huge. Many wines to choose from. The buffaloaf is delicious. Spinach and Artichoke dip is the best around. Highly recommend 💚💯💯

bugs have been found in their food and it takes like an hour for food after the two hour wait. and the food tends to make people very very sick. many have came to me saying they threw up the food.

Enjoyed our food ! Big portions for sure . . Don’t miss out their Warm Bread Pudding and Warm Chocolate Cookies (which are fresh out the oven) We had their Brussels Sprouts, Shrimp, Lemon Chicken and Bread Pudding

All Remodeled and nice historic places with some good food and service

A a small town place with big city high end quality. Been trying to get here for a long time now and finally made it. I called for reservations the morning of so my ideal time was booked, but in retrospect that may have been a good thing. We ended up with a 5:30 seating, walked in at 5:15 and were immediately seated. I say it was good we went early because 2 very large, very loud groups arrived as we were finishing,,which was pretty much when I had originally wanted our reservation for. Jacob was incredibly nice and very attentive without being overbearing. I can't currently have alcohol and there weren't mocktails on the drink menu, no problem, Jacob made a suggestion and it was perfect, best part was it stickered at under $6 , which was so much better than a $12 fake drink in the city. I chose the aged NY Strip and my partner got the fillet. My was perfectly cooked as requested,, just between medium rare and medium. The fillet, however was a bit overcooked for medium, but was still very good. Carrot cake is HUGE, and was very good. In a different take on the frosting it had a slight hint of lemon that I feel was a nice addition. My partner however said "very good, but not as good as your mom's". I agree, but I like the differences from place to place. Do yeah get the carrot cake. To sum up, very happy with the entire evening, and we'll be bringing friends back in the near future.

Top notch! Great experience! We ate at the Whitehorse Inn on Easter and the experience was wonderful. The ambience is one of a kind. Everything was seamless. The menu was limited but it cut no corners. The service was absolutely remarkable. Jacob was our server, a delightful young man who was extremely efficient, professional and humorous. His service was top notch, and he made our family feel extremely special, especially our 92 year old mother. Good service is so very hard to find and he hit all points and also exceeded every expectation we had. The Whitehorse Inn is a wonderful place to eat at that is rich in history, with fabulous food and top notch service. Well done!

A very unique spot. We drove up from Waterford, it's a cool little getaway from the city. The food and drinks were excellent, service as well. Recommend going across the street to the general store too! Well worth the drive from Metro Detroit.

As someone who frequents this bar your bar tender Christina probably shouldn't be talking about how she doesn't know how to NOT teach her kids to be racist because African American people have TV channels...... You don't have to subscribe to them.... Additionally there's not any specifically for kids....so if your children are watching a black network....it's.mostly for adults...however....you might want to make sure your staff.... That seemed to be on the clock...but had Enough time to herself with friends and drink tonight want to reevaluate how she acts at her work place....and maybe not act like it's hard to not be racist....🤷🤷

First time here. It was a busy Easter Sunday but service and food were great. We will be back.

LOOK AT THE REVIEWS! I WISH I HAD. ORDERED THE RIBEYE, EXTREMELY BLAND, NO SPICES, JUST A HUNK OF MEAT. MADE CORRECTLY MEDIUM RARE BUT BLAND! BLAND! VEGETABLES CAME OUT COLD. All of the reviews on the ribeye are correct! $100 DINNER IS NOT WORTH IT. BETTER MEAT AT TEXAS ROADHOUSE. I didn't complain but will never go back.

It was a birthday gathering with friends; so she got a cookie plate with sparkler 🥳. Good food, large portions - especially the pot roast. Look up the history so you know about the tree in the main room's floor.

This was my first time dining at the White Horse Inn and I couldn't have had a better time! Our waiter, Jacob, was very attentive and professional; always a plus! And the atmosphere was perfect. So was the food. Definitely worth the relatively long trip, even on a blustery, snowy March evening! I love horses, and so I was very pleased by the decor. The walleye dinner with green beans and broccoli was delicious.

We had delicious meals and wonderful service on Saturday night. Shelby was an amazing waitress who provided extraordinary service to us. I highly recommend her and the White Horse Inn.

What a fine dining experience. Recommend reservations even during weekdays such as this most recent Tuesday late October with awesome fall weather. Seated NW corner of dining area. Check out the paintings in that corner, pure iconic local equestrian fox hunting pursuits. Our server Hannah B friendly, funny and efficient even helping us thru a pesky gift card redemption issue. Cuisine and craft beer libation selection very good. Wife ordered artichoke chicken, Hubby Wedge salad with copious amounts of blue cheese candied bacon and Turkey Rueben, both very good. Extra bonus potential paranormal activity. Watch your silverware! Swear I felt the hand of Lorenzo himself patting me on the back as we paid our tab and rewarded Hannah with a good tip for her stellar performance. Great time, great food, atmosphere second to none for local heritage.

Our most recent dining experience Friday March 15 and the White Horse was our destination for a multi Birthday celebration dinner for 5. Our server who's name escapes me, but you'll know her when you see her, a tall striking blond young lady cheerfully and graciously welcomed us and promptly took our drink orders from a rather extensive craft beer list. For tonight's culinary adventure the diners started out with the whitefish pate' always a favorite. Moving on, 2 of our diners selected the lemon artichoke chicken, 2 the Fish Fry being Lent and one went with the pot roast. All were pronounce excellent. Our server was attentive, efficient and fun to talk to. We were checked on by management to assure our satisfaction. The Whitehorse is a great venue for a dining experience and comes thru every time! We didn't see him tonight but we'll keep an eye out for Lorenzo next time we visit!

What a wonderful meal and experience I have a new favorite drink, horse breath. You must try it. Second time here, had the beer batter bread with bread and butter pickles. You will not believe how good they are.

The onion soup starter is wonderful! Different and cozy atmosphere, it's definitely worth the visit!

The atmosphere was really cute however that didn’t compensate for the overall experience. Not sure why in the winter the AC would be on but our table was right under it and we were in flannels freezing the entire dinner. Additionally they were less than accommodating to our dietary restrictions. We were able to omit things but no alternatives or substitutes were available. The Vegan beyond burger isn’t vegan if you like your burger with a bun. The standard and GF buns both contain either milk or eggs. They do however serve baguettes and sliced bread but we were told the manager said we couldn’t get them with our sandwich or burger. Other meals were delivered with fresh vegetables. When we asked what other vegan accommodations they could offer we were told to order a salad. We just ordered French fries for the vegan meal and they came colder than our seats. Non-vegans raved at how good the French onion soup was though.

Everyone I know really loves this place. It has a unique atmosphere, being in a historic building. I personally have a very keen sense of smell and thought it smelled more like a barn than a restaurant. Maybe because the decor has a lot of used equestrian equipment. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to choose from with my dietary restrictions, so I got a salad. It was ok, not gluten-free. I wasn't too pleased that the "buttered noodles" I ordered from the menu came with some weird cheese on it that was not on the menu description, and therefore, my child didn't eat it.

Super cool restaurant. Horse stable decorations are unique and cool. Went to lunch with friends and everyone found food they loved. They even had a gluten free menu. Server was very knowledgeable about the choices and it was fun that she gave her options. She also offered suggestions, when I eat this I would add cheese or change dressing etc. I can't wait to return for another delicious meal.

Such a lovely pub and restaurant. Delicious Sunday lunch with some of the best service we’ve had in ages. Really attentive and great with my allergy. Small play area in a garden outside which the kids enjoyed too. Would highly recommend.

The food and service was excellent!

Service, atmosphere was amazing. Best ribs I have ever had at restaurant, the sauce was good too. Loved the seasoned fries, u could tell they were handcut. House salad & homemade ranch was also good. We also had this spicy shrimp appetizer that we loved. The only thing I didn't care for was Coleslaw, but my husband liked it. Will be back.

Celebrated my birthday. The place was beautiful with so much history. If you are the type of person that loves wood work then this is the place. The ambiance is so calming and relaxing. Great food, great service. My husband and I enjoyed our time at White Horse Inn. Definitely recommend going.

Love this place!! Each igloo has its own theme, this was so much fun to get together with friends. The food was amazing we were all pleased with our meals .

The ribeye was cooked to my desired style, but it was a cheap cut, lucky's steak house has better steaks and they should be embarrassed by that. Especially because of the cost, I'm embarrassed for purchasing it. The pot roast was pretty good, as well as their cowboy mac and cheese.

I/We have eaten there many times over the years. We ate there years ago even before the remodel and the beautiful floor was added. We have never been disappointed with our meal service, or the surroundings!

White Horse Inn is always a special experience! From the plum salmon, down to the sandwiches and sides, the food is always impeccable. The sweet potato fries are some of the best in the area. The atmosphere is always great, especially during the holidays when the inside and outside is absolutely beautiful. Truly a staple in Metamora

Went for lunch on Saturday January 30, at 2:30 which was a busy time. Four of us received terrible service, all of our food was luke warm, at best. The cod dinner for $18.5 comes with 2 pieces of cod and soggy fries. The bread pudding was definitely not served warm. Definitely a disappointment for the 100 mile round trip special day we had planned.

My family took me out to celebrate my birthday in the igloos they have. It was super expensive, and I love them for wanting to carry out one of my bucket list items. The atmosphere was everything I dreamed it would be. Now about the food.... don't waste your money!! I had the turkey dinner and it was horrible!! Still in all, my heart was full just spending time with family and friends!! ❤️❤️❤️

Food is always amazing. We rented an igloo around Christmas which was a cool experience. If you want to get an igloo at a good time, you need to book months in advance.

Very unique atmosphere, food was delicious!

Been in the igloos multiple times over the past 3 years and management decided to change the rules. In the past we always have a nice lunch then get a certificate for the difference on the min $250 charge. This time we only had 3 people so I even called ahead and inquired about getting a certificate and was told ok. While we were eating management then said no certificates allowed & $250 needed to be spent on food & drink only. Won't be back

Pot roast was delicious, but the side vegetables were only lukewarm. Otherwise great!

My family has been coming for years, we always reserve an igloo and have the best time. Great atmosphere, food, and drinks. The rustic chip dip is my favorite 😍

This is probably our favorite restaurant in the area. We don't go often enough, but only because we are often too busy to commit to dinner plans! This is one of the few restaurants I would recommend going to exclusively for the experience. You'll want to set aside a few hours to relax, get a drink, some appetizers and order your meal. Don't forget the cookies for dessert! We come once every few months with our family and every time is a hit!

The Cowboy Mac & Cheese is delicious!

Very loud. I shouldn't have to yell my order across the table to the server. My filet was over done. I couldn't communicate with the server as she only addressed one side of the 10 person table. Not an enjoyable experience with my family. Also, should of had more water. 1 quraft isn't enough for 8 people. For appetizers, bread and chips should be refilled without asking. (Spinach dip and whitefish dip).

Fantastic restaurant, great food, and service. Wonderful place to visit. I love the woodwork, art, and style of this restaurant. Our server for the Christmas party tonight was outstanding. They did such a good job of preserving the feel and nature of this establishment. I've eaten here maybe 6 times over the years now, and every experience has been amazing.

Had an amazing lunch in the aviary igloo!

Dine in experience was great - food and service. I enjoyed the wedge salad so much that ordered one to go for my husband. When he opened it up it looked half eaten, there were no bacon pieces included. I was extremely disappointed. And I left a substantial tip.

Food wasn’t great. Got the ribeye and it tasted like a steak you would get at Applebees. The appetizer we had was good. Service was very slow and forgetful granted they were busy but really just not acceptable for any restaurant. The atmosphere was great very festive. I would probably only go back to grab a drink at the bar and maybe an appetizer but definitely not to dine.

The wait was kinda long [1hr 10m] for us, but the food was delicious. 😋 Not to mention the cool bathroom setup, small but effective. All in all, the decor was beautiful and the atmosphere was comfortable. Would visit again but definitely during a less busy day/time.

We did not actually go to eat we purchased The Christmas Meal Kit - from start to finish it was all so well organised. The food was absolutely amazing three courses, generously sized courses presented really well and cooking instructions perfect - really hope they will be doing this again next year also really great value for money thank you for taking the hard work out of Christmas dinner.

The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is my go-to menu item here, and it never disappoints.

The atmosphere was very nice. I had the special Seafoo Palomino it was average. My wife got the Maurice salad. It was a little dry she had to order more salad dressing.

This place is awesome. The wife and I stopped in for dinner. The hour wait at 7pm is expected. Between the antique shop and the White horse store that hour went quick. Also got some nice gifts for Christmas. Downtown Metamora and the restaurant both have the holiday vibe especially with the horse carriage. Nothing about our meal was bad. One of the best Ribeyes we've had in quite a while. Service was impressive even with a packed house. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Excellent food service and atmosphere!

Went for dinner last night and they were off their game. The place looked fabulous and the service was great. Three of us got prime rib and baked potatoes which were under the heat lamp too long because the meat was dry and the potatoes cold except for the top. Wasn’t a good meal tonight.

Always a great experience! A real family favorite.

We had our wedding reception here and it was the greatest decision we made. I've always wanted great food and I was not disappointed! So many guests have raved about it being some of the best wedding food they've ever had, if not the very best. The atmosphere for our smaller (100 people), intimate wedding was perfect and very 'us'. But the one thing I'm incredibly grateful for is the outstanding service. From the planning, set-up, reception, and clean-up we received 5 star service. We wanted to enjoy the day and not have to worry about anything. They took care of setting up our flowers, decor, card box, place cards and more. Staff even took care of two party crashers so quickly, only a few people noticed. We loved this place before and it will now forever hold such a special place in our hearts. 100% recommend for dinner or any event. You won't be disappointed!

It's a beautiful restaurant, but I feel everything else isn't up to par for what you would expect. Food is just okay, portions are way too big, very wasteful. The way the tables are arranged doesn't allow for a peaceful meal. Very loud and crowded. If I'm going to spend a lot of money at a beautiful restaruant, I want more private seating and a relaxing meal.

Too noisy - if you have good hearing, don't go you won't when you leave. Crazy noisey, and too many people crammed in that building.

Lovely staff but the 9£ scotch egg was tiny , hardly any sausage meat and very disappointed for the money , just egg and breadcrumbs . Have had “home made “ scotch eggs before and this was certainly not that . Better from Tesco !

Husband got the fillet and I ordered the pot roast. Both were absolutely delicious! Our server was so friendly but not over the top! Such a beautiful restaurant. Yes I took pictures of the floor. So old and well kept.

Never had a bad meal and service is great. Waitress took our order without writing it down. She new the menu very well. Celebrated a BDay there.... which was topped with a sparkler. The cookies are a must!!

We were seated precisely at the time of our appointment, no wait, service was very friendly and excellent, the traditional Thanksgiving dinner was generous and terrific. Everything was well prepared, served carefully, and our wait person checked on us regularly. Overall, a terrific experience in a beautiful place.

Fantastic lunch today at The White Horse? My starter of garlic mushrooms in toast with a poached egg on top was one of the nicest starters I have had in a while! And the beef pie was to die for. Absolutely delicious food. All 4 of us were blown away by the quality of the food and the great prices. We ate in The Snug and it was perfect - warm and cosy on a cold November day! The staff were all lovely and we would have no hesitation in recommending this pub and plan to visit again soon!

I attended this restaurant for a dinner meeting and wasn't paying my own way, so I can't comment on the prices, but the food was excellent, fresh and well seasoned with nice variety of choices, the service was fantastic (thank you, Morgan!) and the atmosphere was quaint and authentic for its origin.
