We had a great Sunday lunch here. Friendly service and good food at a reasonable price. My wife contacted the restaurant in advance as she has some allergies and they made special dishes for her. This made us feel very welcome and cared for.

Visited here for first time whilst on holiday nearby,lovely restaurant and comfortable seating,happy to see quite a few in on a Tuesday lunchtime,very much enjoyed a crab,prawn and avocado starter and some garlic bread with cheese,followed by slow cooked pork belly and seasonal veg,partner had lasagne,all of which tasted delicious,only issue was my partner found the texture of the lasagne a little mushy with no defined layers of pasta and was disappointed,good selection of desserts available including a daily specials list,also very good wine list available including bubbles if needed,new Zealand sauvingion blanc went down a treat ,overall I would definitely recommend and visit again

Returned to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Shown to our seat and given the menu that for me personally had nothing that particularly jumped out as anything special. The starter of toasted brioche and garlic mushrooms was awful. Tasteless and toast crumbled to a dry powder. The veal main was nice but nothing special. Halfway through our meal we noticed the table next to us were given a specials menu as well as the Àl a carte menu. When I asked why we hadn't been given one we were told the front of house had forgotten. On perusing the specials menu afterwards ,my favourite starter of scallops was on there and also my favourite seafood linguine main!! Extremely disappointed that we had spent £120 on a meal that we didn't particularly want or enjoy and the fact that it had spoilt our wedding anniversary. Also not quite as important but perhaps some of the staff could learn to smile now and again.

We came to celebrate my mums 80th, there were 15 family and friends and nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. Staff, food, ambience, all was 5* and I thank you all for your professionalism and for keeping the secret!! Well done x

Can’t recommend this place highly enough. We’ve been visiting for years our most recent visit being this evening. Sarah and Lib and all the staff are brilliant. Friendly and welcoming. Best Italian meal I’ve had in UK. Food was superb with loads of flavour. Food is like that I’ve had in Italia and very authentic. Good value for money and compares favourably in price with Italian chain restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere in restaurant. Very well done to all the staff.

My partner booked me a surprise meal here and I got to say it was really nice. From the time we got there until we left. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent with a great choice. Also a great desert menu. We both had the veal cutlets and they even wrapped up the bones for the dogs. We shared a calamari starter which was nice to be allowed to do as not everywhere will let you do that. Certainly we will visit again and recommend a visit. Already decided what I am having next time. Thanks 47 Street for a nice evening.

Warm and welcoming staff, that were attentive and asked for feedback. Meals were well prepared and presented with a good choice of pudding.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch from a good menu supported by daily specials. The food was very good with attentive service throughout. On the downside, there was only limited parking across a busy road, and our table, stuck in a dimly lit corner was rather claustrophobic. A few smiles from the manager/owner would be good as well.

We had a most delicious lunch sitting in the beautiful garden at 47 The Street. The service was exceptional, as was the ambience. Would definitely recommend.

Long wait for food on Mother's Day. Set menu. £37. For 3 courses. Starters and main courses okay. Two roasts and a lasagne food was nothing to write home about. Sorbet for dessert, no flavour, just appeared to be coloured soft ice. My daughter had cassata, again no flavour at all. We didn't eat our desserts. For each course we waited 30+ minutes. Other guests who arrived half an hour after us finished their courses way before us. We ordered coffees to go with our desserts. They arrived and we had finished them before our desserts arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy. There were several empty tables. We have visited this place several times over the years. Unfortunately the long time between courses and the 'not so great' food on Mother's Day, has put us off coming again.

Visited for the first time today after being recommended this place a few times in the past. It did not disappoint! Decor is nice enough and service very good, but the FOOD!....wow.. We had 6 different dishes amongst our 7 person group, and every one was absolutely delicious. Mine was the best pork dish I have ever tasted, and similar comments made about the Lasagne, Veal and prawn risotto. I cannot emphasise enough how good the food was! It is quite expensive but for once I would say it is totally worth every penny. Fowlers farm charge similar prices now but there is simply a gulf in food quality. We have a new favourite restaurant for special occasions. If you like quality food go here, it's a real gem. Full marks to the chef!

We had our wedding reception here In December. The food was amazing and the staff just superb.. Thanks for making our special day so memorable.

Visited here with my family for a birthday meal. Our group consisted of 7 adults and one child. In the summer I could see it would be a nice place to visit with a nice area outside with seating and a climbing frame. The food was nice, portion sizes were ok and the price was slightly on the dearer side. The reason I am saying it is average is because of the service. Whilst we was in there so was some other large groups. Sadly we got lost and service became slow and impersonal. The restaurant was clean and it offered a good menu.

Food is excellent here and very well sized portions. We came many year ago and to be honest it wasn’t as good as it is now. What they do have here on the money is great portion size and well as a non pretentious atmosphere which comes with some success. We will be back and hopefully both are kept in order. Don’t do what others do, get pretentious and reduce size and increase cost ,,,it’s a major flaw in the Catering world it seems. Well done rayne 47,,,, excellent job to all.

Had a really nice lunch here recently. Service was friendly and efficient. All the food was of a very high standard. Enjoyed smoked salmon and prawn cocktail, good pork belly main and pudding was also delicious. Parking opposite was full so we parked in a road just a short work from the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Two of us ate there yesterday lunchtime and I was disappointed that there is not a lunch time special menu. We ordered from the a la carte menu and it cost £126 inc one small glass of wine ( plus service) which I consider to be over the top. Furthermore the portions were not large ,in fact there was one small platter of small roast potatoes and some boil in a bag vegetables between the two of us. All in all I couldn’t recommend it for value

I have eaten here a few times over the years with friends and family for different occasions, and I've never once been disappointed! I recently ordered a take away afternoon tea to treat my nan and auntie. The portion was huge, we ended up eating it for lunch, dinner, and lunch again the next day, lol. I am unfortunately very fussy with what I eat, only white bread, no butter, and only chicken and a condiment. Instead of making me feal bad, the staff at 47 just asked what I wanted, and it was made with no fuss. It was absolutely delicious and was a lovely change to what we normally have! Nothing is ever too much trouble for them, even when you dine in. Thank you so much for accommodating me. We have just had a 3 course meal for 5 from the Mother’s Day menu. OUTSTANDING!!! Thank you Sarah and team for making my Mother’s Day perfect. Portions were more then ample and flavoursome. We love 47 The Street. The food, service and ambience is always brilliant. We decided to do a take away on New Year's Eve; the food was every bit as good. Piping hot and delicious. Our children both had steaks cooked medium rare and they were cooked to absolute perfection.

Had a takeaway for Christmas and was perfect, all came extremely prepared. Would definitely get again.

We were so pleased that 47 Street were going to do takeaways again during this second lockdown. Just one word AMAZING. Hubby and I have just finished our meal of skate wing and mixed fish Thermidor. Both were absolutely delicious !!

We booked last minute but the staff were able to find us a table and we had one of the best roast dinners we’ve had for some time. Our daughter loves lasagne so this place was the best of both and she was delighted with her food too. The menu was varied and all the options sounded amazing. One of only a couple of really top end restaurants in the area, we will be back soon.

This was only our second visit to 47 the street in about 5 years - so we are hardly regulars it is fair to say! However, I am delighted to report that the standard of both service and food has most certainly not deteriorated in the slightest since our last amazing experience in this highly professional, first-class establishment. The food could not be faulted and the service was EXACTLY as it should be - attentive without being intrusive. No-one approaching and enquiring whether everything was "OK" - an extremely annoying trait of many other so-called "up-market" establishments these days!! Seriously well done to all at the number 47! Brilliant! Cannot praise tghem enough! We will be back and I will be telling anyone who cares to listen about my experience! Thank you for helping to make my wife & I's 15th anniversary that little bit more special!

First Lunch at 47 The Street since the end of lockdown.We had the usual warm welcome from the great owners and Staff. Service at this restaurant has to be the best in the area. Great menu and specials board and there always seems to be something else that is on offer or fresh in on the day. Highlights in our group were the grilled Sardines and scallops with chorizo. The pork belly main course was exceptional. I love the vegetable plates here as well. On the face of it not immediately exciting but looks are very deceiving as the veg is cooked to perfection and a perfect foil to some of the excellent creamy sauces servied with the mains. The courgette fritters are legendary and a must have at every visit! The great people running this place are absolute pro’s and their longevity in the restaurant business is testimony to this. Looking forward to going back already .

Our first restaurant meal out in the vicinity of where we live and it didn’t disappoint. We walked up Flitch way to build up an appetite for Sunday roast. When we arrived we were asked whether we’d like to sit in or out, as it was such a beautiful day we sat outside. We were given our menus promptly and asked what drinks we’d like. After getting our G&T’s We then chose our wine and food. We had smoked salmon and prawn cocktail starter which was delicious. Then a roast beef dinner. Best roast potatoes I’ve had out and the beef was melt in the mouth. Could do with leaving the horseradish and mustard on the table rather than them putting it on our plates then taking it away. But I suppose there could be health reasons for this. We don’t normally do dessert but the food was so good and not massive portions, but good sized where you are full but not so much you feel ill, so we could fit it in. I had cassata, home made ice cream with chocolate, cherries and nuts. My husband had Raspberry frangipane and cream. We had a lovely bottle of Malbec and total was just under £90 for both of us. There were quite a lot of people there. Service was excellent and we felt totally relaxed, which was amazing after the last couple of months. We were so impressed we’ve rebooked to go back next week. Would definitely recommend. Nice outdoor space too x

Very lovely food, steak and risotto was delicious! The staff were very friendly and the waiter we had was very polite. I feel so bad because I wanted to leave a nice tip and all I had was a trolley coin, my front door key and £1.25! So I left the £1.25 but next time I will take more cash as they didn’t have the card machine option to tipLovely first date night out with my fiancé since our daughter was born 6 months ago and since lockdown happened. We walked from Braintree station along the Flitch Way on a sunny Sunday for lunch at 47 The Street in Rayne. A great welcome was received from all the staff, who were well prepared for any Covid concerns. A large drinks and food menu made choosing difficult, but we got there in time. From the specials menu I chose king scallops to start and veal cutlet to follow. My friends chose arancini, bruschetta, prawn risotto and roast chicken breast from the main set price menu. All arrived promptly with a friendly chat and a warm smile. The well-spaced tables began to fill up as we enjoyed our time there, creating a nice atmosphere. But unfortunately after about 2 hours of un-hurried pleasure we had to make our way back to Braintree town along the disused railway track - albeit at a bit more leisurely pace!

My partner was given a gift token to spend in the restaurant so we chose to go for a Sunday lunch there was choice from two menus we went for a starter, mains and dessert.My partner had a fish main meal and I had the pork Sunday lunch which was a change to the traditional Sunday Lunch as the pork came in a creamy sauce and vegetables.

This is an amazing restaurant with superb seafood and meat and pasta. This is better than Roma and in Rayne, which is a great asset for north Essex. You must try it. You will not be disappointed. Please go there soon.

This is our favourite restaurant. We know that when we come here we will be looked after like family and the food, wine and service never ever disappoints. Even in the face of what we have to face up to for the next few weeks, this amazing restaurant steps up to the mark again and looks after everyone with impeccable customer service. Tonight we had a takeaway from the A la carte menu rather than eat in, as per the instructions from Boris, and it was amazing! My daughter loves 47, my parents love 47 (and that’s no mean feat) and we do too! Stay doing what you’re doing for as long as you can and when the craziness is over get used to seeing us again. LOTS. The portion size is miniscule the octopus seafood starter is cut with a razor blade2 x ribeyes very thin the ordered rare and medium came well done, no taste reminded me of shoeleatherThis restaurant is definitely overated, cannot understand how it is no 3 out of 97. Booked in advance was really excited, I had family travelling from the north. Only to be thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. We had to wait an hour for the starter, and had to wait 40 minutes for the main course. There was no apology or no explanation as to why we waited so long.

Lovely Italian restaurant just a short drive from Braintree. Very welcoming staff and excellent food and service. Couldn't fault a thing. Four different meals ordered and everyone enjoyed their choice. Definitely looking forward to visiting again when back in the area.

I was let down by my original venue and called 47 with a week’s notice. Sarah could not have been more accommodating, emailing menu choices over within the hour, including a separate vegan menu and making room for us in an already booked restaurant . On the morning of the party I dropped cakes and table decorations into the restaurant and Sarah was there to go through the table layout and any other concerns I had. The table was in the newer extension and looked fabulous. On the night, everything went very smoothly. The food was excellent, as always, the drinks flowed and the waiting staff were very attentive. The whole evening was a huge success and we could not have asked for more. Thank you Sarah and your whole team, you exceeded my expectations and I am truly grateful to you for making room for us. I cannot recommend the family run restaurant enough.

We were invited by friends to celebrate a 50th birthday. It was a late booking at this restaurant as my friend had been let down by a previous restaurant as she had requested a choice of vegan meals to be on the menu we chose from. 47 The Street took the booking and provided vegan choices without any hassle at all. There were 14 of us so we pre ordered. The food was amazing, the service was fantastic and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. No one in our party had any complaints. The food was all served piping hot, beautifully presented and delicious. The wine list as good and drinks etc. were served quickly and efficiently. We had a limited menu to pre choose from as we were a large party, but there was plenty to accommodate all. Thank you for a fantastic evening.

We visited here for a pre-Christmas get together with our daughter and her family. From our arrival to our departure we were made to feel very welcome. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make my grandchildren feel important. The food and the wine were excellent, the choice was very varied. It was very difficult to choose what to eat and gave rise to food envy when all the dishes were served.I wouldn't hesitate to visit again

We chose here for a family celebration as we have eaten here before and were very impressed. Food, wine and service were superb and we are so pleased all enjoyed the evening. We have highly recommended this restaurant to friends.

Family lunch, we went on recommendation but found the whole experience very average. The service and management were friendly but the ambiance, food and value for money was very average and none of us thought we would return again! Poor attention to detail and not much effort put in to the food or its presentation to make your visit that enjoyable or memorable! Shame as we visited for a special occasion and we thought the restaurant would be much better based on the reputation and reports we had read!

my firt outing as a vegan diner , i was woried as i didnt see a specific vegan menu online but im quite new to it so emailed to enquire , there was a group of 8 of us dining and they had a vegan menu printed up ready , about 5 starters , 3 mains and 3 desserts , the food was AMAZING , all 3 courses , mushroom on crostini starter , roasted veggies in tomato sauce with pasta and coconut icecream for desert , the service was fabulous too , we were a table of 8 and everything looked amazing , and the vegan menu was even looked over by the other diners on my table as they were impressed with the quality of food , definatly a few places to use a leaf out of 47 the streets book when it come to looking after vegans !!! 10/10 i will be back and i have been recommending highly

Normally like coming here but was disappointed, first the place is too hot and after asking staff to open a window or the door to get a through breeze they just wouldn’t, had to ask bout 5 times till a window got opened. I had the rip eye and it was not a rip eye it was two little fillet steaks on top off each other not cooked how I asked it, over all the place has lovely decor and is a nice atmosphere, just felt let down on this occasion

The decor is minimalist and the service is professional. This is a restaurant that puts the focus on the flavours in the food. It's small and nice inside, so the atmosphere is cosy if you want that - but we spent the whole meal chewing in amazement. The menu is about 50% seafood and 50% Italian, everything we had was technically excellent - using obscure fish like halibut and monkfish - perfectly fresh, and perfectly balancing each others' flavours and textures. From the photos on here it might seem they are the sort of place that serves up an artfully-placed salad leaf on a blank plate and charges £200 - but be assured the portions are decently-sized, even though this is food-as-a-work-of-art.

A busy and at times loud restaurant, but no question as to the quality and value of the food. Following a crisp and well cooked calamari I sliced open an exceedingly tender and sumptious rib-eye steak accompanied by chunky fries and crunchy vegetables. This was matched by a velvety Rioja. My wife loved her massive skate wing but we failed to managed a pudding, which speaks volumes as to the portions. Well done, a great meal and we will return!

First time visit here and suitably impressed - pretty decent range of menu items and drinks. Good choice of food, and was delicious when it came - for family of 4, two courses and a drink each we were just under £100

Was taken for a Sunday lunch by friends who hade been told it was special.

We visited last week for the first time as it was a family birthday. The staff were marvellous and very helpful as my son wanted a large portioned meal that was on the childrens menu. It was not a problem at all for the kitchen to cook a larger size spag bol. The portions are extremely generous and between 6 , not one thing was left! My only gripes would be maybe to offer a pizza on the evening menu , some fresh flowers or candles on the table and maybe some mints after paying the bill , otherwise we really could not fault this restaurant. Well worth a visit.

47 has always been my go to restaurant, until now.

We moved to the area around 10 months ago and found this restaurant. We lived in London and Bishops Stortford and have always eaten out. This is the best restaurant by far. That’s why we visit nearly every weekend.

Undoubtedly the best restaurant in the area. I regularly eat here for business, family events and with friends.
