A very comfortable night's sleep in a well-appointed room. Breakfast ---plenty of choice, well cooked and nicely served. Extremely accommodating.

We had an overnight bed, breakfast & evening meal stay. It's a very nice pub/ restaurant with rooms in a separate building. The room was comfortable and looked out over open countryside. The staff were friendly and efficient and we felt they genuinely cared about their guests. The evening meal was good and there was a good selection of wines at sensible prices. We would be happy to stay again.

Booked in here for our anniversary meal and had a beautiful meal. Sirloin steak was cooked to perfection for my husband and my meal with its absolutely amazing mushroom sauce and fresh vegetables was fantastic. Service was friendly and we were very well looked after.

Had a lovely one night stay at the Pheasant in Gestingthorpe. Parking was at the rear of the building. Checked in by Reuben, who showed us to our amazing room in the modern annexe. The Captain Oates room was an excellent choice. It was very spacious with high ceilings and very well equipped with a separate sofa area and flat screen TV. The walk in shower and spa bath were a nice touch in the modern bathroom and everything was spotlessly clean. We decided to eat in the restaurant that evening. The pub itself is a really delightful old building with low ceilings and lots of character. We were served up three courses of amazing home cooked food. Again Reuben looked after us and was a credit to the venue, for somebody so young. Breakfast was again first class with what I would guess are locally sourced ingredients. As we have family nearby, we will definitely be returning to try one of the other rooms. And thank you for the advice to go to West Suffolk Hospital. We were in and out in less than two hours with a couple of small fractures of the ankle.

Had 1 night's stay last night. Lovely room. Tea, coffee facilities bang on. Great, big bathroom with big towels and all the toiletries. Really peaceful and quiet And then you can go to the Pub for your dinner which was very tasty. A good hearty pie. Would thoroughly recommend.

A very good country pub with friendly staff and decent food

0 stars if you are an animal lover or loves nature or loves wildlife, don’t ever go here on the 20th jan I came here with my sister and we sat down to have something to eat….. BUT 10 min later group of people came in covered in blood and dragging a young poor fox inside when I question the staff if this acceptable and allow this they turned around and shrugged there shoulders seem they don’t care. Don’t ever step in this place at all if you love animal vile people!!!!

Great place to stay overnight in a lovely rural location, well looked after local real ale. Excellent value food and lots of well thought out personal touches in the accommodation.

We had a lovely lunch last Sunday. We started with tiger prawns, then roast chicken for one of us and river trout for the other. It was wonderful! Lovely atmosphere, lovely people. Thank you.😄

Nice cosy atmosphere. Welcomes dogs. Evening menu is tasty and plentiful. Staff are friendly. A country pub, with a good play list, I really like it and look forward to visiting again.

We stayed two nights in one of the very comfortable rooms and enjoyed meals in the bar both nights. When a pub is busy on a Tuesday night nowadays you know they must be doing something right.

Lovely quaint traditional pub, we visited and stayed at the adjoining Hotel. We went into the pub to check in and have dinner and breakfast. Food and service was great, only one vegetarian option for dinner but luckily it was something I liked and was lovely. The interior is traditional with a bar area and separate areas for dining. Perfect for a little winter break.

Fabulous. Achieves the four pillars of B&B excellence. Lovely cosy pub with log burners; very friendly staff and host; spacious, quality accomodation with expansive views (not saying which room because I'm coming back!!); great reasonably priced food. Loved our stay.

I went there for Sunday lunch with my adult son. He thought it was fantastic and especially enjoyed... actually he especially enjoyed all of it! The menu is not particularly large but I personally see that as a good thing and got the impression that the food is freshly made and not just something heated up. They were very accomodating about my gluten intolerance and for once, I didn't feel like there was nothing I could eat. The prawns in tempura batter (starter) were delicious and we both sort of wished that they wouldn't end. We then had the roast beef, which was nice and rare and came with roast potatoes, carrots, green beans and Yorkshire pudding (not me). And then we both had pudding - (yes I actually got to have a pudding!) a fruit crumble with ice-cream. I came away feeling like I had had enough to eat but not too much. I would definitely go there again.

Lovely dining experience especially after post lockdown. ATe outside on a chilly evening and was offered a complimentary shot of vodka just to "warm us up" 🙂 food was delicious and the staff friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend a visit if nearby.

We loved our stay. The team - led by the owner personally - are cheerful, efficient and obliging. The Captain Oates room is spacious and comfortable ... and we enjoyed the jacuzzi. Dinner was a treat too, with a menu for all tastes and a well-judged wine list. Ideal spot for a quiet rural get-away break and excellent value for money.

We had the most amazing meal tonight our last night of our holiday in the Lake District and our daughters 9th birthday. The food was outstanding definitely not pub grub - high quality restaurant meals and so delicious. We sat in the garden and everything the staff did was to help make it a pleasant experience despite Covid. Thank you so much for squeezing us in we would highly recommend!!

I stayed for 3 nights (6th - 9th August) and was really impressed. My room (the John Constable room) had views over the beautiful countryside and a 4 poster bed! The breakfast had everything you could wish for and the 2 evening meals I had were delicious. It really is a gem! The cherry on the cake is that the staff are really helpful and friendly.

Despite a very positive review in the paper, it was just too simple and bland for my tastes. Well cooked, good portions, nice pub feel. Would recommend, but with caveat.

Lovley rooms immaculate.... the view of the fields from out window seat was beautiful. Food was lovely fresh cooked and local. Just the relaxing weekend I needed. X

Very nice stay food was amazing and a nice intimate atmosphere

When I complement James on his spectacular pork belly, I hope he doesn’t take it the wrong way! Diana and James have made this a lovely, relaxed and welcoming place to come for dinner. Or lunch - or just a pint! If you are a walker then it’s a great stop off if you are taking the long way across the fields to Castle Hedingham or the Belchamps. Two log burners keep it toasty in the winter and in the summer you can sit outside and listen to the larks.

A real village pub with excellent accommodation. Run by Diana and James who are delightful and provide wonderful real food, locally sourced and varied.

What a lovely little gem in the middle of no where, a great place to go staff are very welcoming, the hotel is beautiful, and the food was amazing!

Having stayed at the Pheasant numerous times in the last few years I really can't recommend it highly enough. The staff are welcoming and accommodating, the rooms are spacious and well appointed while the food... You can easily see why they have won so many awards, the stock options on the menu are all excellent and the rotating specials never disappoint.

The Pheasant is a lovely B and B. The rooms are very cofortable

went with friends a few weeks ago, mains fine but the starters certainly weren't , I had double baked souffle, came like a pancake, my wife had fig and parma ham salad, fig was a sliver and ham the size of my index finger, when I commented on the souffle it was explained to me thats how doubled baked looked !

Brilliant country Pub. Great food and atmosphere. Very well maintained.
