Parrot at Aldringham in Suffolk Coastal

Suburb Sunday roast , we had beef succulent and full of flavour. Veg had extra flavour too and divine desserts. Coffee smoothie and rich. Second visit and will definitely go again. Recommend booking for Sunday roast. Staff attentive and service great.

A pub that's actually a pub, rather than a gastro/restaurant wannabe - how refreshing! From the horse brasses to the log fire to the book swap library, this place has a lovely atmosphere. The food and prices are spot on, too, so it's definitely worth driving a few minutes inland from the overpriced coast to eat without breaking the bank. The best touch was that they actually acknowledged my birthday, which so few places actually do nowadays. This went a long way to make this a place I'd recommend and would certainly revisit if we return to the area.

We just loved this place, and had dinner there twice during our trip to the Suffolk coast. Perfect on a chilly evening, with a roaring fire and a wonderfully warm welcome. Excellent negroni and a well-curated wine list. The food was very good, particularly the venison casserole, beetroot salad, pea and ham soup and sausages. Super dog friendly too. Our pup was treated like a celebrity! We'll be back whenever we're in the area again.

OMG! SHOCKING REALLY POOR FOOD This is not freshly cooked Roasted meat. I Went for Early Sunday Roast lunch17th November 24. Absolute disappointment. Advertises on own website pork & crackling roast. I ordered that but what arrived was catering pack type tasteless watery stringy pork, and no cracking? when I asked for the crackling I was told they don’t have any!! I asked why? As it was early lunchtime so there should be at least a small portion available- nope that’s the answer I got. (of course as the meat is not cooked fresh on the premises it’s pre packed rubbish it had no cracking ) The roast potatoes were mushy and vegetables so over cooked were like baby food. Disgusting 🤮 my partner had the beef dinner that was also poor quality & badly cooked also waited 20 mins for horseradish by which time meal was cold. Find another place for lunch as this is absolutely shocking poor quality.

Visited the Parrot this evening for food and drink with my wife and in-laws. This would be one of the pubs/restaurants I would definitely visit again and would implore others to visit if you like good food and drink.

We attempted to come for dinner on Saturday night and had booked a table for 8pm with no issues. As we arrived, at about 8.10pm we acknowledged that we were slightly late and apologised for that but then as we were seated we were asked for our drinks which we ordered and then was told by the waitress that the kitchen closed at 8pm so “not to be rude, but be quick!” which wasn’t the relaxed dining experience we had come for. We had planned to have at least 2 courses and felt that as we were being made to hurry while another waitress was blowing out candles next to our table and clearly starting to pack up the atmosphere was very unwelcoming. It is worth noting that if you are looking for an enjoyable evening out here, you’ll need to book a table way before 8pm or else you will be hurried along. In my experience with restaurants I have worked at in the past we would always have last orders at least 30 mins before the kitchen closed. When we asked why they allowed us to book a table for 8pm when the kitchen closed at that time we were told “I think it’s very nice of us to let you eat at that time” as if they were doing us a favour. Had we been informed the kitchen closed at that time we would have booked to come in earlier. Massive shame as we used to recommend this place to our friends as the food is quite good but the staff have become extremely rude. We sent an email to the manager who also didn’t accept any responsibility for the poor service. Instead, we left and went to Cinnamon, and had a lovely evening.

This is a lovely local pub, it’s perfect on a Summers evening to sit in the garden….or snug inside when it’s cold outside

Solid 4*, good value Sunday Roast, warm welcome by staff.

Lovely building, staff friendly and helpful and food was excellent. We don't eat meat but still had enough choices. Thoroughly enjoyed all three courses and it didn't break the bank!

Absolutely wonderful place the lobster was beautiful and the staff were fantastic on our wedding anniversary lunch.

Third time we have visited over a few years. Was disappointed frankly. One of our party was very disappointed in the food. Having had great experiences before we were expecting equally great food but sadly not. May have been an off night but I don't think we will be returning.

Came in with my boyfriend recently as we were hungry. We ordered a drink, spoke to the barmaid about food then looked at a menu. When we sat down to order food a woman treated us like convicts from a local jail. She was so rude we just left. Your staff either need training or refreshing contractually. We were really upset. There were about 6 people in the restaurant at the time non of whom were ordering food.

I have been to the parrot and punchbowl for several years, got to say the food was delicious

We visited in early October for lunch. It was very quiet out of season, the service was very good and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I had a butternut squash risotto with feta cheese and pumpkin seeds. My husband had Jamaican mutton, with coconut rice, flat bread and mango and spring onion chutney. It was all delicious, we tried each others and liked them both very much.

Lovely pub with great staff. I really enjoyed the food which was well prepared with great attention to detail. The pub is also close to the coast so a great place for lunch as part of a day out to the beach.

Saw the brown sign for food on the road (a welcome sign that usually means a place with good selection) Myself and my fellow biker were made to feel welcome, and the staff were very friendly. All except two options in the very limited main course list were unidentifiable by name. For someone just wanting some good pub grub you had two options... burger or steak. Was not a nice meal, not a bad steak but not a £22 steak either. My fellow biker said the same about the burger, not bad but not good either. Plenty of seating indoors and outside. Shame the lack of selection and high prices let it down. Not a place I recommend to the average person.

Sorry but ordered 1 well done and 1 medium steak 🥩 for me and my wife well done was just over medium and very chewy and medium was rare and very very chewy. Payed and left not much choice on the menu or blackboard

Excellent meal of Scallop starter and Filet steak from the day menu. Very good Portuguese red and white house wines. Staff friendly and attentive. Comfortable surroundings. You get what you pay for. To be recommended.

Amazingly good food and such a labyrinth inside. Plenty of space for big groups and cubby holes for couples or solo. We’ll be back.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch as we were out at Aldeburgh for the day with our two dogs. We had a roast, which was very good, the team were helpful, polite and friendly. We would return again.

I had been meaning to visit the Parrot in Aldringham for quite a while now so I decided to take my partner just recently. We had an enjoyable meal together and although some previous reviewer's have commented about how expensive the meals are, given the state of the economy it shouldn't require Einstein to work out why, and therefore, to expect this increase in costs. The staff were pleasant, food was good and presented in a timely manner. I can recommend a visit to the Parrot in Aldringham.

Recently l had a lunch here and the food and the surrounding were OK. The menu overall was good, however the main meals/desserts were quite expensive!

Had a lovely Curry Goat meal here and have finally had the courage to try it and it was absolutely lovely.

This place was brilliant. I was served by a lovely waitress with brown, curly, tied up hair. She was very welcoming and sweet. I loved the food here good quality, good price. Me and my friends really enjoyed ourselves and are definitely planning to come back in the near future.. definitely recommend 10/10. Thank you!!!!

Had really delicious food and great service at the Parrot. The quality of the food is exceptional, and service from Jack was second to none. Can't wait to come back and enjoy more food from the Parrot hopefully soon!!

So disappointed, again! Sole filet was just barely warm, peas not cooked properly and chips so so. We were a party of 8 having booked a few weeks ago for a 1pm lunch, so we're surprised to be told the Sticky Toffee pudding wasn't available and just two cheesecake portions. They knew we were coming!! My pear and frangipan tart had been heated in the microwave so was soft and the entire edge of the tart was burnt black and inedible. I had not been out with these ladies before so didn't complain. I certainly won't be going back.

It felt like more effort was put into the Christmas decorations than the food, unfortunately. The best bit was the Broccoli and Stilton soup 😘 The atmosphere didn't match the festivity that was decked all around. I do have to add that my husband enjoyed his meal, so maybe it was my choices 🤷‍♀️

A quirky, split level old pub. Good sized beer garden and a separate covered, cosy eating / function area. Dog friendly, though not in the dining areas, although you can eat and have your dog with you in the bar and the garden. They have a good selection of starters, main courses, desserts and lighter snacks. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. I recommend you try this place.

The Parrot was such a pleasant surprise. I will definitely be coming back. The beer garden is spacious and accompanied by a few lanes for boules to be played. I thought I had stepped into the middle of a French village! The food is delicious and there's a great selection of beers.

First time visit due to a lunch invite for 12 people. Sat in the Barnyard part, Food, Service and Drinks were all good. The menu has a variety of foods with typical bar classics plus Plaice, Pork and Lamb dishes. Apple crumble to finish off, well I just had to 😄 Noticed they do Sunday lunch for the next time im in town. Thank you to the staff today for making our lunch special.

Lovely pub with plenty of outside seating. We ate dinner in the Outside Inn, charming and fun area. Very good and friendly staff, service efficient too. Food was good overall - quality pub level. Only slight disappointment was the fish.

What a pity ! Food was excellent However ask the prices of Wine and Beer before you drink them We will NEVER visit this establishment again £11.00 for a glass of wine is exorbitant.In some places you can purchase a bottle for this price. I have travelled extensively throughout the world and appreciate the quality of certain wines and this price was completely crazy.When phoned they were blaze offering no real explanation as to why they charged astronomical prices for a drink ! Go and buy yourself a bottle from any supermarket and save some money for heating!
