The best restaurants in East of England

A lovely roast beef lunch with tasty veg, potatoes, cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire Pudding. Lovely service from Sally and team. One of the best roast meals I have had. Would recommend the Swan. Was my birthday and they did make a bit of a fuss, which of course I loved. Thanks

Amazing meal today, we sat in the bar next to the fire with our dog, the food was absolutely delicious & the staff are lovely too, very helpful & very good prices too, definitely worth the visit but you need to book!

The sushi is really good and affordable, and for takeout sushi this would have been 5 stars! I definitely recommend this place for the food and have previously rated it 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ However, I’ve had to take out one star because of the dine-in experience. The service was good but the seating area could use a deep clean or even redecorating. Unfortunately it felt a bit dirty and worn - the table, the floors, and even the walls. I hope you can take this as constructive criticism though, because I won’t let this stop me from eating at Matane Sushi and if the cleanliness was improved it would take my review back up to 5 stars :)

Fantastic club dinner, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food, we were a large group (15) so expected the wait and were not disappointed!

Right, so I walked past this place and their Nihari offer caught my eye 👀. Nihari and 2 naans for £9. I thought in this cold weather that's a steal and worth trying. Usually the most tired looking places have the most authentic tastes. From my experience not every restaurant offers Nihari (like people do with Biryani which you find everywhere and it's so bad). So if they're advertising Nihari surely it couldn't be that bad. We step in, and the place is relatively quiet, really tired looking and it did make me question my choice. But even with the deco being incredibly dated, the table and seat was clean and I was still trying to keep an open mind and remember never judge a book by its cover. Immediately, the staff are all super approachable/welcoming and not the typical attitude to servicing customers like you expect from any other Asian place where it feels like you're an inconvenience and want to ask them for the bare minimum. The guys took my order with no issue, no need to repeat 3/4 times, just super helpful, super smooth ordering. With that, we later discovered the owner was also sat nearby and gave polite recommendations and exchange pleasantries. Anyways, the food came, piping hot, and much to our surprise the food SLAPPEEDDD!!!! It was so good. It was served in authentic crockery that you'd find at your grandmother's home. It felt like you were in her house and I actually unwind and relaxed. We learnt this shop had been here 45 years! That's saying something. The food was so good we even stayed for proper Pakistani chai and dessert. The shop has an abundance of sweets from mitahi to freshly baked biscuits where the owner gave us a couple to try for free. They made the chai fresh in a pot just for us. The whole experience was so enjoyable, all the guys are really nice and also great value for money. The food was delicious fresh snd nostalgic. I'll definitely be back. My only recommendation is to slowly fix the decor bro. But I'll be BACK!

It was my first time there. Very nice, welcoming atmosphere. Nice place with good prices. I ordered vegan green curry. It was delicious. I would like to try other vegan options so definitely come back.

We went to listen to a band there and on this particular evening it wasn't very busy probably because of the weather, but the band were very good and I could see an improvement from the last time that I'd been to the pub which was some time ago. Felt a lot cleaner and more friendly.

Ordered through go-getters. Delivery was approx 45 late. Food Samosa was Thai style not great and not what I expected from Indian restaurant. Vege rogan josh - good Palak paneer very very sweet and no flavour Butter chicken ok but also too sweet Paneer shishak - good Would not order again.

The seating situation during busy times is not fun as people circle tables like vultures. Additionally, the seats are worn and gross. Great food and coffee. Dog & kid-friendly, too.

This little place is awesome the food is to die for !! The service was on point..what a little gem this place is ..Got 2 cold platters to start then 2 main course platters that feed 3 people per platter it was 6 of us ..but it was plenty food !!! The meats were all so good the rice was delicious !! The entire meal was lovely and seasoned great especially the meat.. nothing bad about this place !! will be back again .. from the USA !!
