Went for lunch, food and service were amazing great portions and the best chicken wings in Lowey. If you don’t try the brisket you’re missing out !!

Really nice place with good friendly service and massive portions of food. The lunch menu is also excellent value.

By far the best resturant in the town and my go to for a family get together. Fish dish was well cooked and presented nicely, the chowder was tasty. Smoked brisket was spot on. Decent portions well cooked. Good ambience and friendly staff. Other establishments in the town should take note ! Keep up the good work, and il keep coming back !

The best casserole I have ever had!

Whilst the food here is really good in my opinion, the service really lets the place down. Not one person looks like they enjoy working there. I asked if they sell pink gin to which the manager just pointed to the a shelf full of gins and said yes. I ordered two pink gins and lemonade. The gin was foul. It tasted awful. Everyone on the table agreed. When my friend went to complain, he was told "it is definitely pink gin". I went up to the bar to order something else and the manager was moaning about us to other staff because we didn't like the gin. She realised I was listening to her and she went on to tell me about how their gins are totally natural and don't have any artificial sweeteners. We didn't make a fuss. We simply ordered a different drink. Whilst I didn't mind paying for it, there was no offer of it being a replacement. My friend asked for a coke and the manager responded "we've got pepsi". My friend doesn't like pepsi so asked for a lemonade and blackcurrant again to which the manager rolled her eyes. I note from other reviews that this seems to be a frequent thing the manager does and denies. I can honestly say that the only time I felt like the manager was polite to us was when she came to collect payments and said "there's a little option you need to choose from before you pay" meaning there is an option to leave a tip. Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip. I'm gutted because the food is really good here but the service is appalling. The majority of staff were polite enough but they all looked miserable and I can't say I blame them if their manager treats them how she treats her customers. I'm fully expecting a sarcastic reply telling me my custom won't be missed and that there was no rudeness or eye rolling but I wanted to put my views out there. If you like good food and poor service, this is the place to be. If you like a warm welcome, I'd go elsewhere.

From the moment we book this meal it was absolutely carnage, two of us are fussy eaters but wasn't missing out on our friends birthday meal so asked for chicken stripes and chips, the manager then complained because two of us wanted the same meal not that it should make a difference, anyway as we arrive the staff like as miserable as you can get and as if they don't want to be working there, wouldn't even say one of them cracked a smile either! We went on to order a drink and the birthday girl asked if they did pink gin to what they answered ' yes' we went on to order our drinks but as they come over no gin glass and tasted absolutely awful we asked the other girls to taste and they all agreed! When we went up the manger was rude and abrupt about it and you could tell she wasn't willing to help, they were all talking amongst themselves about us which for one isnt professional and for two is just rude , we had to go on to order another drink where I said ill have a coke please and she replies yesh Pepsi! There's a difference between them so I said thats okay ill have lemonade and blackcurrant to which she tutted and rolled her eyes,the food for me was absolutely disgusting my chicken stripes smelt like cheese and I found the waiters beyond rude leaning over us to grab our plates... where really should of said excuse me and waited for everyone to finish! I can say I will not be returning and the only time they were happy was taken our payment and locking the door behind us. EDIT-- I think maybe you should take a look at your workers face and ask yourself the question because I can assure you they are all miserable, secondly for the chicken stripes you are incorrect my weekly shops from asda I'm afraid! And for someone eaten it in pretty sure they smelt absolutely horrendous aswell as tasted! Coming from the two customers who had them, happy to tell us it was pepsi and not coke but not happy to tell us it wasnt a normal pink gin until we returned it back, i just feel you ruined everyone's night and that's on you, as long as you got your money you were happy! Keep your miserable staff and disappointing restaurant as we won't be returning.

Brisket was very salty, I left a significant amount of my meal, and so did others. We Didn't complain due to it being a birthday party. Party of 12 all eating main meals and asked to swap 1 drink as it wasn't to their liking and still charged for it. It would have been nice to swap that drink considering the large bill we paid. Also to add I wasn't asked if my food was OK during or after my meal.

Fantastic food, service was excellent too, the two ladies who looked after us were brilliant, asking if everything was ok and if we needed anything else, also interacting with my 2 year old granddaughter, making my birthday meal extra special.

Me and my partner visited here last night and the service was amazing, the staff were very accommodating and polite. The starters were amazing and the steak I had was a 10/10! My partners burger was a little dry but overall a great place to eat and we will be back again for a Sunday roast!

Well this place is going to turn into a bad habit, the food was awesome and the staff very welcoming. Only warning I can give is when you order a side of the loaded fries....its a large side😆,order between two people,but they are epic. Will be back again soon,excellent local restaurant.

Went for lunch today and just wow! Welcoming atmosphere and fabulous service. The food is beautiful and cooked fresh to order with awesome portion sizes. Excellent variety for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. The tiramisu dessert was out of this world. Been wanted to try the place for a while and will definitely be going back again. Highly recommend!

Wonderful beef brisket, Beautiful ribs, the bbq treacle glaze was incredible! I would say the pork belly starter was okay, but can't knock anything really staff were nice and friendly, also the fact it's dog friendly is really nice. Overall a really nice place to go!

Just had the most amazing lunch with my partner. The staff were so friendly and very attentive. I am gluten free and was please to see there was a Gfo for bread. I ordered the chicken and maple cured bacon with cheese which comes with fries and salad. Oh wow it was incredible! The bread was homemade and the filling was very generous. The chips were cooked perfectly and the salad was tasty. You may have to wait a little for the food but everything is freshly cooked and 100% worth it. So good for just £8! We both decided to share the chocolate brownie dessert with salted caramel ice cream and it did not disappoint!! Very rich and indulgent. So nice my partner wanted to lick the plate. 😅 We will definitely be returning in the future! Thankyou for a great experience.

We cannot recommend this place enough, from the moment you enter the restaurant to the time you leave, you will have a smile on your face. The food, the atmosphere and the team are all wonderful. We had the combo meals and everything was delicious, even the sides were perfect.

We visited yesterday as a party of 6 for Mother's Day. This was the 5th time I have been to the Smokehouse and have already booked our next visit. The food has been really enjoyable every time and the service has been relaxed and friendly. Highly recommended.

Lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. I am gluten-free and lactose intolerant and it was very easy to order a wide range of different options from the menu. The manager assured me that almost everything could be made gluten free and she was very knowledgeable of allergies so I felt comfortable, and happy to eat there. This is a great place to go for a group of people that may have different dietary requirements but also just for really fantastic food. Everything tasted delicious and I'll recommend it to my friends and family.

1st visit. Was recommended to try this place, food was nice, although brisket was covered in bbq sauce, I should have asked for it on the side. Will do this next time. I like the restaurant layout. Staff were friendly, however the table sat next to us had an obnoxious lady who apparently worked there part time, she also liked the sound of her own voice, considering she worked there she had no consideration for other diners. A vegetarian body builder that eats fish, I know her life history and how big her apartment is 🤦‍♀️ we left without a dessert due to having the experience ruined by this diner. Will try again another time.

amazing food really yummy, but manager very abrupt and would not accommodate to even be sat next to family for a big birthday. rolled eyes and tutted to someone in my family and started telling all staff about a situation that we had on phone when not needed. atmosphere was okay but felt a bit rushed .

do not cancel your booking as you will be charged £20!!! per person . we cancelled within an hour and would have been earlier except there was no answer. not good customer service will not recomend to anyone. very rude no other restaurants do this criminal. having read your reply there is no humility in your service you rely on customers being happy with your service not trying to humiliate them with your terms and conditions which for lowestoft is very unusual indeed so listen to criticism you may run a better business for it.

Booked an hour before and 5 minutes later realized we wanted to cancel no one answered the phone. They then took £40 off us saying that is their policy. Regardless of policy that’s daylight robbery and the staff member was so rude about it. Different if it was a table for 8 but was only two of us. I’ve just been looking at the owners responses to people having the same issue and I quote. ‘You won’t be missed’ and they made out someone who had to cancel because of a family emergency they put it quotation marks as if the customer had lied. Out of principle I wouldn’t want to give them my custom In response to their reply which anyone can see was quite rude to my review. For a company that’s job is literally customer service it won’t surprise me that people won’t go back. I didn’t have any communication with them on instagram. I’d love to see evidence of that. We made a phone call. Maybe you should thing about charging less or updating your terms of agreement when people make last minute bookings because how can they apply if you can’t actually give 24 hours notice. Rather than arguing every one’s review maybe rethink your attitude and company’s policy and take on feedback

4 of us tried the Smokehouse last night. 2 of us had burgers and 2 had chicken supreme. The burgers were very good but we really wished we'd had the chicken which was excellent. The chicken was served with veg and hassle back potatoes and was a "special" not on the regular menu. I was also impressed with the Bitburger pils, which for me was like being back in Berlin. The tiles in the mens toilets are a work of art and very clean. We came out feeling very happy, not overcharged and full.

Sunday roast whilst on holiday, massive portions of vegetables to go with plenty of meat. There was too much veg for us, and i dont have a small appetite, lol. In a world where we are trying to reduce food waste, please consider giving smaller portions of veg, and then offering people more veg if they want it.

Service was polite and friendly and informative

Was welcomed in by friendly staff who were happy to allow dogs so we were able to eat inside for lunch. Water and treats were offered for our dog when we were seated. Food was amazing and great service. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in for lunch with the kids, we're not from the area. The lady who served us was so lovely and polite. She told us abit about the area. The food was exceptional ! It's really little gem. Definitely going back next time we visit the area.

Really good food. My little one left his tablet on the table and we returned an hour later to the nice surprise of the staff having put it away safely for our return.

We had a takeaway from here this evening, I can’t even begin to say how good it is! I am coming back to Oulton Broad just to eat here again. Absolutely fantastic! Definitely going to eat in next time, the restaurant looks amazing. Fast forward 12 months. One year later and we came in for a dine in meal, we came to Oulton Broad purely to eat at Copper Smokehouse. It didn’t disappoint, the meal was absolutely amazing. We even tried to convince the owner to move to Cumbria!!! Amazing place, brilliant food and lovely owners / customers! I really can’t recommend this place enough!

The food was quite nice, some of the condiments tasted a bit weird though. But the service, one of the ladies there I found was quite rude when serving us. And also I'd add it was a bit overpriced for a Sunday roast. I probably won't return.

Went there around 12pm on a Saturday. Staff were welcoming and food was delicious, I had the market fish option.

This was our first trip to this restaurant after another family member had recommended it. I have to say it was a great experience and did not disappoint. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the owners knowledge regarding the food and the drinks was amazing, it was very clear that she was very passionate about the dishes they serve and the effort they put in to ensure a great experience for their customers. Will definitely be returning soon.

When we visit the area it’s always a “must” to eat here. The cocktails are mixed to perfection and the food is plentiful and tastes amazing. The sauces are very tasty but the beans, wait till you taste them. Bravo chef. We have never had a pudding (maybe next visit) as we are always full by then. The staff are very attentive and like to share a story, very welcoming. Dog friendly too. Brian’s (the dog) a great place to visit a nice comfy floor to lay on. When I get to try the food it’s wonderful, then I get given dog biscuits by staff. It’s great I get more attention than my walkers, and I don’t pay. Very good food and good value would of get 5 stars but service could of been better

Today we returned to the smokehouse for a Sunday lunch. We last visited over 2 years ago with our then 9 month old. This place is honestly amazing and exactly how we remembered it! The staff are amazing, helpful and chatty! And the food will blow you away. I had the beef brisket roast which gets served with a wide range of vegetables. They also have a good selection of children’s meals! Thank you so much guys! We can’t wait to make this a yearly thing going forward!

We shared the platter for 2 which was more than enough for us. Particularly loved the beans which came with the main items which was unexpected. The staff were super lovely and accommodating. Would definitely return.

Have not been before, but my son had the roast was really tasty

As a family, we usually frequent Iconic and the smokehouse in Ormesby however fancied a change and given we were celebrating a promotion, decided to try the Copperhouse. Really can’t fault the waiting staff, location or the decor - toilets were also absolutely spotless. This place had the potential to be a really good evening however the food did let it down and given the cost, I expected this to be better. The garlic & cheese bread starter had minimal cheese on it and the bread itself was very greasy. The burger was hard and overcooked for one person in our party. Another family member had chicken and rib combo.. these were also overcooked and very dry. Food in general was very salty; I appreciate food needs to be seasoned but perhaps less salt given we all know that this is bad for us. There was even salt added to the coleslaw which was unnecessary. If paying in excess of £20 for a meal you would expect far better taste. In terms of alcohol; I would expect city restaurants to hike up their wine bottles by up to three times however perhaps not Lowestoft.. the same bottle of wine I could have purchased for £9 as opposed to your £23. We had planned to stay the evening however were very disappointed and after negotiating a 15% discount (which didn’t even cover one meal) we promptly left. Overall, a disappointing and expensive visit when compared to our restaurants in the vicinity and one we will avoid in future.

Shocking food for that amount of price.. food was dry and came out nothing like described! only nice bit was the chips. Everything was as dry and so salty, tasted horrible. 4 people came to 150£! And only worth about 20£ of that.

Went here for mother's Day lunch with wife and her son. Food excellent, service great and total ambience brilliant. Wife and I had the beef brisket roast and son had turkey/brisket. Excellent choices. I also had the arancini starter and wife/stepson had the garlic king prawns. All was excellent value. The wine selection was good and reasonably priced. Would certainly return.

This is the third time my husband and I have visited this restaurant and its a coeliacs dream come true. Its the only place I feel safe eating at. Very knowledgeable with food intolerance. The food is excellent. Extremely delicious in my opinion. The portion size is amazing, I end up with a doggy bag everytime. The desserts look fantastic but i never have enough room left.The staff are welcoming and I can't wait to go back. Would recommend to everyone.

Decided to try the Copper Smoke House for a weekend Lunch, chose the Sharing Platter for two and it didn't disappoint. The ribs, bacon loin and chicken wings were to die for and the accompanying sides were great too (especially the BBQ pit beans). Paula and Charlotte were both very personable and chatty and enhanced the experience. Will definitely return.

Wonderful restaurant, the food was superb and well presented. The staff were polite and nothing was to much trouble. I for one will have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to family and friends.

Had a family emergency making us unable to attend the booking and was charged £20 per person cancellation fee. Disgusting in this economy. Conveniently the notice telling you of the £20pp fee is conveniently down the bottom of a huge T&Cs list

Another delicious meal here, they never fail to deliver great food. This time I had the smoked chicken with buffalo sauce and a delicious lemon posset for pud. Look forward to the next time 👍

We were staying in Lowestoft for the weekend and went to this spot on a whim. We both left absolutely blown away... To start we had crispy fried halloumi and King prawns. The king prawns in Verde were perfectly cooked and the Verde was refreshing, however the halloumi was perfect. It was crispy and crunchy without losing the halloumi texture...scrummy... For main we had the sharing platter with a side of onion rings (this was a mistake). Before ours came out we saw another table being served the same dish and we were in disbelief. To say it didn't fit on the table isn't an exaggeration. It was the most meat either of us had seen. Despite being overwhelmingly full, it all tasted so amazing we just couldn't stop (with some friendly teasing from our waitresses.) The banana bread and rum raisin ice cream capped it off. Despite the incredible food, atmosphere and decor, the best thing about this restaurant is the staff. We were one of the last tables in the place and we were never made to feel unwelcome. The staff seem to genuinely enjoy working there which makes being served by them a delight. The owner came to speak to us and left us feeling as though we were treated us like we were friends. Both of us agreed it was the best restaurant experience we'd had in years and despite living over 100 miles away, we will almost certainly be returning. Thank you for such a brilliant experience.

A family meal with my lovely family for my birthday 🎂 travelled from Lincoln to this super restaurant. Gorgeous... couldn't be bettered Will definitely visit again .Thank you for adding to my birthday celebrations.

This place is a favourite of ours, been coming here weekly for six months and tonight is our 33rd visit to this gem. The food is always incredible, the owners are brilliant people, the head chef (Mike) cooks the best meats around, Paula and her people skills and memory is a thing of brilliance. The staff are lovely and welcoming. If I had to choose a recommendation food wise, I’d say the Platter for 2 (but make sure you’re hungry) The short rib is without doubt the best rib I’ve ever eaten. I see myself old and grey still eating here. If you’re in the area, get yourself down to The Copper Smoke House.

The smokehouse ribs were absolutely lovely the beer is fantastic but the owner is a bit of a dragon but overall top banana 🍌 as long as you toe the line!

Having had the sharing platter, I feel able to discuss all of the meat. I love ribs, and honestly, they were my least favourite part of the plate. That is not to say that they weren't good. They were... but. My partner is not a fan of salty things and loved the bacon, and I'm not normally a fan of beef, but the brisket was probably my favourite part. Strangly, however, the pit beans were a huge win. I had to ask about pit beans and the explanation gave me a great story about pit beans (it's the meat juices that makes them so good) and also showed how much the people that run the Smokehouse care about providing high quality food that they prepare themselves.

Always hilarious to be told about the two bottles on the table. Monk fish was like rubber or maybe marshmallow. Unsure. Maybe it wasn’t cooked or maybe overcooked, anyway it was weird and not like Barnby Swan monkfish which is incredible. Floor was swept around us while eating, staff eat at tables around dinner guests, chairs are stacked on tables while eating and before dinner guests leave. No class, everything on menu is coated in something. I would much prefer to eat in the dinner hall at a primary school.

Food was absolutely gorgeous, ideally you need a spare stomach, very clean and staff were very attentive. Nothing was to much trouble, sadly i had eaten before i realised i had taken no photos. . . . Are you curious about electric vehicles. If so why not join the largest EV community. UKEVOC co uk

First time dining here and everything was spot on. Service was friendly, the cleaning of tables was extremely thorough and made me feel very reassured that this was a clean place to eat. Burgers were very flavoursome and good quality, well worth the price. Will definitely be coming back here!

My wife and I always come here when we get the time! I had the pork belly this time which was absolutely amazing. I Would recommend this place to anyone.

We had a bracing walk along the beach and thought we’d go back to one of my old haunts Oulton Broad. Found the smoke house let dogs in at the rear of the restaurant so In we went. Great food great service and all round great place! Absolutely loved our meals drinks and the very friendly atmosphere given we were in there on New Years Eve it was busy but food arrived very quickly as did the drinks! What a great experience all in! I'll start with the good bit, I had the toffee apple crumble for desert and it was delicious. My main issue with this restaurant is their cancellation policy and lack of remorse surrounding it. I will agree that the terms and conditions are on their website below the link you click to book but depending on what device/browser you use the terms and conditions don't show up in the first page meaning you would have to scroll past the booking link to read the terms and conditions which I wager very few people do. I suffer periodically with migraines and I never know when one will happen, on the morning of my booking I woke up with a bad sickness inducing migraine so my wife cancelled the table as early as possible but still breached their 24 hour notice policy, so my wife was charged £40. We rang up to explain that it was due to an unpredictable medical reason but were sniggered at by the manager who just said it was policy so the charge would stay. We asked if we kept the table could we put the £40 towards our bill which the manager agreed to. The young service staff were really polite and friendly, the food came out barely warm, but knowing how a complaint is dealt with I couldn't be bothered to say anything, there was plenty of food but it's quality does not match that of nearby restaurants that serve similar food at a cheaper price. I would never go back to this restaurant and I certainly would not recommend it based on how we were treated. I understand the frustration they could have from a no show but £20 per person is extortionate in my opinion as we had tried to cancel 4-5 hours in advance especially since there was a lot of empty tables in the restaurant. I've double checked the law on booking and a penalty can can only be charged if a loss is incurred and we should have been given the option to rebook the table for a different date, which we were not. This is another local restaurant of my partner and i, and was on our bucket list to try. I got the menu online, and we couldn't decide what to have and kept changing our minds. We were the first ones in and had a lovely warm welcome. Now I'm a burger man myself, but I decided on their rack of ribs with all the trimmings. They were gorgeous. The chips were very tasty, better than chippy chips!! Portion size was generous. The staff were awesome, and there was plenty of banter between us, which made me feel at ease, as going to a new place can cause my anxiety to be high.

Had the stake and oxtail pie, it was a masterpiece of good homemade food would definitely come back again

A married couple staying in Lowestoft for a couple of nights, The Copper Smokehouse seemed to come well-recommended. It was JUST within walking distance of where we were staying, so we tried it. It's a good job we booked a couple of days in advance; the best slot we could get was 18.30, luckily this suited us just fine. Paula was running front of house, ably supported by Annabel. Together the two ladies dealt with our drinks and food orders perfectly. The food was impeccable; beautifully cooked and presented brisket and burger for mains following a shared fish starter. Your reviewer was quite full by this point so we cannot comment on any pudding courses. Paula has an amazing way with customers; she remembers everyone, and engages them all as they arrive. Three tradesmen were on an adjacent table, they had travelled here for work and food from Huntingdan. Paula knew they're story inside out/names etc. Her people skills are second-to-none. What an awful experience from the demand for credit card details to hold the booking (6pm Sat Nigh!) to the insistence on seating us on the worst table in the so called back room. A joyless tour deforce in perocial dining. Misery abounds in this establishment from the limp shrimps dripping in oil and devoid of any sweetness to the over encumbered pork belly - 2 servings of butter bean ragout, presumably because it was hard to sell! Expectations of smoky bbq were soon dismissed in favour of the cameo from the eco lab rep insisting on cleaning everything insight in the sound knowledge of mass financial gain from selling its products. Tables lights for what purpose? Other than to remind you your supposed to be having an intimate enjoyable meal, all while sitting under 200 watt lighting. This was undoubtedly the worse dining experience Suffolk has to offer and it has some fabulous restaurants that don’t have to shout it from the rooftops! I should of turned around when walking up I noticed they were unaware we were having a utility bill crisis - not sure who provides their electric but can I have their details - Blackpool is more sedate! We walked in early one evening, hadn't booked but not a problem. Lovely food. Good friendly service. I enjoyed the tortilla and brisket starter and will gs as a main. My husband had garlic prawns and a burger. Recommended
