You often never know what you are going to get when you book online but this pub was five stars without hesitation. The room was really comfy and very stylish with an en-suite and rainfall shower. The staff are lovely and the owners were friendly and really accommodating. There are three rooms above the pub and a kitchen where you can help yourself to a continental breakfast of cereals, fresh juice, waffles and croissants including yogurts and fresh fruit. There are teas, coffees and fruit teas plus hot chocolate. Loved the sweety jar! There is a toaster and microwave too. Everywhere was very clean. We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights and had fabulous pizza. Really interesting menu with plenty to choose from. It was difficult to choose what to have. The bar sells guest ales and cider. I had the NZ Sauvignon Blanc which was excellent. Its location is well located to Cambridge and Ely. Both worth visiting. There are supermarkets close by and a co-op and one stop in the village. If you fancy a curry, the local curry house was fantastic, if a little blue on the inside (the lighting). We would definitely return. A wonderful stay.

Another fabulous meal here this evening. With a special valentines menu in place and cleverly available the night before for those of us who can't make it out on tge 14th. Free glass of fizz and the usual wonderful service. Can't recommend this village pub enough great food, good setting and fantastic service. If you are in the area well worth a visit. We dropped in here for drinks after reading on a Cambridge food website that they had football on in part of the pub. When we asked behind the bar however the girl had to check with the manager and were told they don’t have Sky, which basically rules out 90% of football matches. I also don’t like being met at the door in a pub as I enter and directed to where I can go. To top it off I then stood at the bar for a period of time while the girl finished a phone call, before being served. My impressions are that it is very much a pub for locals and we didn’t feel particularly welcomed as strangers

Great food, l. Cooked well. You know you're in a good eatery when the queue for takeaways is almost at the door. We were 3 very fussy eaters and we found something delicious to eat. We are not from the area and popped in on the off chance. We were totally famished. Highly recommended 👌🏾 we did not use the hotel.

The Porterhouse is a village freehouse. Usual two real ales on that change. Had a mild on last time I went. The food is excellent. A good menu and very tasty. Good value for money. There’s a garden and a separate tipi style annexe for when it’s busy. Friendly professional staff and a warm welcome. .

Great little find. Lovely staff and food. The car park is rather small but I think there was plenty of space on the roadside.

Chanced our luck on a cheekie pub lunch as they have a new menu for lunch. Regular menu was also available but didn't want anything large. We have had the pizza and pint deal before, which is great but we fancied a change. Decided on a bagel each. Both were delicious and good value. The service today was excellent Meg was attentive, kind, friendly and cooed with a busy restaurant side whilst we ate in the bar. Always worth supporting local and well worth another trip to try the fishfinger sandwich!!

It was definitely ok. A little slow with the service but overall we quite liked it. Food was fresh and hot, we sat by the window which was nice. Car park is small and people parked inconsiderately which wasn't the fault of the pub, but maybe find a way of making the car park bigger. Otherwise yes very enjoyable.

This is a great pub, on a crossroad's. The Beer is always good here, never slept here but the rooms look very comfortable. One thing to remember is that this pub is open on a Monday and a Tuesday, and sells great food when most pubs are closed. They have a Teepee in the rear garden as well where you can eat great steaks. Well the Laz-E-Riders finally over many years have actually stopped here for a meal. There were only 3 of us, we had the Lasagna, risotto, and one of the group had 3 starters, he found the curried Chicken strip's very hot. The meals were very good, but unfortunately we had to return a pint of little Gem, and one of our party went to Guinness instead of staying on Wherry..

Stumbled upon this little gem whilst looking for a shop nearby that ended up not being open. Super welcoming, knowledgeable about their beers on tap and delicious bar snacks/tapas bites. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Another fabulous meal here celebrating my Birthday. I had hallumi fries with sweet chilli dip, massamam curry with chicken, and a devine mint aero cheesecake. Chilled bottle of pino grigio to accompany it all. Very pleasant indeed. Very polite staff and decent service on a busy evening. Well done and thank you Craig and team.

Sunday lunch, Dined out in the yurt, lovely experience. Throws, pillows and hot water bottles to use if chilly, fabulous cosy ambience. Very Friendly staff and great food. Even a doggy box for leftovers! Would come again.

We just had a private party in the tipi. The pizzas were to die for, the chips equally so, washed down with a perfect pint of Neck. Oil The young man waiting on us couldn’t have worked any harder to deliver a perfect experience. Really helpful and atttentive Many thanks to the Porterhouse team.

I've stayed at The Porterhouse for work a number over the last few years. The rooms are always warm and clean. The food (particularly the pizzas) is great, and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming (shout out to Owen this time!).

Lovely place amazing staff amd highly recommend the curry

A large group of us visited for a private lunch in the garden Tipi. Following a warm welcome and a beer or two we were served a delicious lunch with some excellent wines. The service was attentive and efficient - not made easy by the (very) late arrival of several of the group - but the Porterhouse team took it all in their stride. The food - from the extensive menu - was beautifully presented and the portions were generous. The Tipi setting was fun and a little quirky - great for a group event and is a superb addition to the more traditional setting of the original pub buildings. We heartily recommend The Porterhouse!

Visiting from Glasgow, and catching up with family in Willingham. We decided to all rock up to The Porterhouse Pub on a hot sunny day. Love it! The Tee-pee; dog friendly so pets to pat! We all sat down to chips and drinks and natter. Mum, in her 70s, suddenly announced she wanted chocolate so Annie suggested a great pudding to surprise her with! Today we returned on a more rainy day...Annie and other staff team members lovely again. I have terrible envy: this is the kind of friendly pub- with a community feel for all ages, for families and couples, and I would feel comfortable popping in for a solo pint- I WISH I had back home as a local! Great food. Great drink. Great, relaxed service. Great welcome! Thank you!

I had a lovely stay here. I checked in quite late but they were very accommodating. Great room, the kitchen was separate but that was quite nice, you had everything you needed to make cuppa, toast ect. Will definitely stay again.

Had a lunch for two. Excellent gluten free pizza. Very reasonably priced, lively atmosphere and well worth a visit. Did not try the rooms, but I am sure they will not disappoint given the quality of the pub

We've dined at The Porterhouse several times now, and every visit leaves us more impressed than the last! Our server, Jana, was so lovely and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The pub has such a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The food is consistently amazing, but we especially recommend starting with the curried chicken strips - they're honestly a must-try and we come back for them every time! Overall, great food, fantastic service, and a wonderful place to relax. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

Elle is amazing. She is so warm and friendly, every week she welcomes us with a smile and knows exactly what we want to order. She is one of the best things about the pub, alongside the amazing chef, Ro who creates the best pizzas.

My wife and I come here for a cheeky little lunch at least once week while the kids are at school. Occasionally we also come for meal as a family with our children at weekends and for special occasions and date nights. Staff are always friendly and accommodating. The kitchen is always happy to make the meals your way and constantly tweaks our food when requested. Annie always greets us with a smile and has our usual drink ready in a flash. We love this place and everyone makes us feel more like friends than customers.

Excellent value Monday evening meal, lovely sausage and mash and fantastic fish beautifully cooked from the specials menu. Friendly locals who advised on the local beers and all topped off by excellent friendly service from Annie. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing evening we had here at The porterhouse, the food was delicious and plentiful and fantastic value for money. What super fun our waiter and waitress were, Greg and Annie were delightful, attentive without being intrusive and nothing was too much trouble. We will be back!!

Amazing food and atmosphere. We have been regularly coming back at least once a week. The kitchen even follows my personalised salad recipe! We come here for date lunches/evenings as well as family of five meals. It is our default place when we have guests over and we choose to go out with them. Always a treat everyone is looking forward to. The hosts always accommodate us on short notice or as walk ins even when very busy. Service (Megan) top notch:)))Highly recommend. :)))

Excellent! Staying in a holiday cottage in the village. Had takeaway pizza it was wonderful! Booked ahead for collection time, lovely customer service on phone, really helpful. Pizzas ready at exact time. 4 pizzas ordered, all of them outstanding. Will definitely use again if visiting. Highly recommended

Birthday meal steak and salmon very impressed with the food and location the staff are very friendly and polite.. The options of beers is good 👍 and popular. We fully intend to revisit the special food options are good for midweek.

Food was good, but the menu is uninspired beyond pizzas and burgers with Cambridge prices while being outside the city. £8.50 for a pudding is really OTT especially when it was a pretty tasteless sponge (meant to be ginger) and then orange flavour was just compote on top. No draft ale, everything electric pump, so that was disappointing. The people in the bar area were noisy so found conversation difficult as we were seated close by. Was a good halfway place to meet friends, but next time we will go elsewhere.

Great beer, Great food, great service

My wife and I ate here for lunch today. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had eating out with allergies and intolerances. They were very well informed and went well out of their way to accommodate our needs. The food was superb, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. The seat by the window was a really lovely touch. Parking was easy. I can't think of how the experience could be improved! Even the way they explained the service charge was really transparent and non-pressuring (and it all goes to the staff). We'll definitely be coming back soon!

Very good reputation locally Second time of staying. Wasn't sure of the concept of the B and B, but I guess it works? Maybe upgrade guests to The Studio as I notice it was not occupied.? The choice of cereal was just coco pops, which wasn't good, no cheese or ham or berries., no fresh pastries. A little too basic perhaps? Being a solo traveller I did wonder if anyone at all was on site? I was alittle concerned?

Nice little pub which serves really nice food. The only downside is its a bit small which makes for a nice atmosphere but you really need to book ahead to make sure you can get a table. Beer good well looked after. Great little village pub.

Apart from no Aircon, and it being very hot, this is a lovely place to stay at.

Visited for Sunday lunch. The food was ok. Choice of turkey, beef or pork.

We really like going to the Porterhouse. They do some good beer and I like that the cask beer changes so I can try different ones. The food is so nice whenever we’ve eaten there. It’s a bit restrictive for us not allowing kids in there after 7pm - tricky to have dinner out after work in the week.

We had a lovely evening; great atmosphere, great food and great service. Couple in the party ordered steaks requesting different ends of the cooking spectrum - one blue, one medium/well done. Both were cooked to perfection. I had the fish special of panko crumb halibut which was melt in the mouth. Husband opted for the guest dessert - white chocolate and baileys bread and butter pudding. To be honest, he didn’t get much of it as after I had tasted it, it was too delicious to stop! Thank you Porterhouse for a lovely meal and looking after us all so well.

We didn’t stay in a room but I can only imagine they would be at least 4 stars after the fantastic meal and service we had in the pub. Awesome food and very very good service. We will be back!

Great atmosphere, service and food

During our recent stay at this B&B, my partner and I, both of whom have traditionally male names, encountered an issue that brought to light an important consideration for the hotel's booking process. Our room was initially prepared with twin beds, which seemed to be an assumption based on our names. This incident has underscored the need for the hotel to reevaluate its room assignment policies to prevent making assumptions about guests' bedding preferences based on their names or perceived relationship, ensuring an inclusive and respectful approach for all guests. Given this experience, I suggest that the hotel consider making twin beds the default setting for room configurations, allowing guests to request a double bed if that is their preference. This adjustment could help minimise assumptions and ensure a more comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of the nature of their relationship. Despite this initial oversight, our concerns were quickly addressed after we communicated them to a very attentive staff member. (However, this prompt resolution makes me reflect on the possibility that, had we arrived later, the issue might not have been resolved as smoothly). The room was reconfigured to feature a double bed within 45 minutes, which I was very impressed with, during which we enjoyed a delightful meal in the dining area. The food was slightly pricey but justified by its freshness and quality. The room, once adjusted, was spacious and inviting. The combined beds created a large and comfortable sleeping area. The bathroom was simple yet impeccably clean, and the shower stood out for its ample space and consistent hot water, accommodating even for someone of my height of 6ft 4. We were also pleased with the shared kitchen, which was well-stocked for breakfast and even late-night snacks, including chocolate yoghurts. Overall, our stay was very enjoyable, thanks to the staff's willingness to accommodate our needs. We look forward to returning but will make a point to specify our bed configuration preferences in advance to avoid any confusion. This experience highlights the importance of adaptable and considerate hospitality practices that cater to the diverse needs of all guests.
