My boyfriend and I booked an afternoon tea for an early valentines treat and we were so glad we found Teacake! It’s a lovely little tea room, many choices of drinks and the staff are all really lovely and welcoming. The cakes are amazing (especially the Jaffa cake). Everything about it was perfect, we will definitely be back and recommending to friends and family!

9 of us (family) met here yesterday (10 Dec) for a late lunch prior to visiting the Christmas light trail at Wimpole Hall. Due to the size of our party, we were accommodated upstairs, which was cosy and private. I’d previously booked it due to there being 9 of us. We were warmly welcomed and ordered a mixture of yummy treats from chilli con carne & panini to various cakes. Very good value and tasty. The building is very quaint and was cosy on an exceptionally cold day. I would highly recommend!

Popped in for a coffee late morning when it was quiet. The service was poor and it was far from welcoming. The assistant struggled with the card machine and was unable to do basic maths. Coffee took longer to arrive than expected. It was OK if you need a coffee and are in the area but not worth making an effort for.

After all the glowing Tripadvisor reviews I was expecting something tip top, a place we might put on our ‘coffee and tearoom places to go’ list. I’m afraid the shop bought scones we were served, at £4 each (with jam and cream) were far too top heavy on price. We were expecting something homemade… Pleasant enough setting in the garden but won’t be returning. Opening hours seem rather short too Thursday-Sunday, 10-4pm.

We had a really lovely afternoon tea for Mother’s Day. Tearoom is very quaint and cosy, staff are incredibly friendly and food very tasty, especially the sandwiches! I have visited the wonderful little teacake on numerous occasions. The selection of food is really good and is homemade, the cakes are out of this world and I couldn’t possibly choose a favourite. However this is not a problem as they will make a cake box to take away with you. Julie and her team are so friendly and just lovely and you leave planning your next visit. I only wish I lived nearby as I would become my local. Teacake more than caters for all ages, I have visited with babies in arms right through to my parents in their 80’s. Not only were they happy to do so, they provided super tasty cakes and sausage rolls to two of may family in the area, at a great price. Now the shop has reopened, my family can go and get a takeaway or sit and enjoy the lovely building. Thanks to Julie and Graham for their work, helping make my family smile for me! We stopped here on Saturday for morning coffee and wished we’d gone later for lunch, or earlier for breakfast, in fact we could have spent the entire day here. A pretty little cottage with an eclectic mix of vintage furniture. The selection of cakes was excellent with three gluten free options. The scones were good with delicious jams. We understand the proprietor sources only the best local ingredients and the quality was evident. The breakfast lunch and afternoon tea menus are definitely calling us back with plenty of both classic and modern choices.

I’ve been to this tea room twice and both times I’ve been very impressed. The quality and taste of the afternoon tea is excellent and easily on a par with one of the top London hotels yet at a fraction of the cost. You need to book in advance as they bake to order - nice to know it’s all fresh! The setting is cosy/country cottage and the staff are friendly, the service is good. You can’t get a glass of champagne - assume they aren’t licensed after all they are a tea room - but you can get a nice pot of tea! Can’t wait to go back for a third time!

Despite adequate tables inside, the real attraction is the rear garden where ample tables are on offer in a secluded setting - a mature walled garden. Service was excellent and the menu very reasonably priced. We sampled sausage rolls (that were heated in an oven upon request) and a bacon roll which was very good indeed. We visited on Saturday 26th January after googling local tea rooms and reading the reviews. When we walked in at 12:30 pm we was very surprised to see it completely empty downstairs and upstairs. We ordered lunch which was very basic, tasteless accompanied with a dried salad which was clearly not fresh. It felt like they were scrimping on the quality of food, the heating was unplugged in the middle of winter which made the place cold and there was no music, so all we heard was that fridge making a noise in the background. We always support local businesses but I can safely say that I will never go back and can now see why it was completely empty from 12-1pm on a Saturday!

We have our coffee order several times and what came back was still wrong but no big deal. The server came back with the correct order a moment later. But that’s where the service ended, no one offered to take our order or ask us what we wanted so we chose not to have anything and decided to go elsewhere. What a fantastic discovery - a lovely cottage-style tearoom in a village not far from home and one that serves the most delicious afternoon tea. Every single item - sweet and savoury - was tasty and home-made. Not a shop bought cake in sight! Food easily as good (if not better) as the Ritz, Claridges etc. Excellent value for money and I felt nicely full when I left. If you’re expecting to dress in your finest to go to the gold-leafed surroundings of the Palm court, champagne, and a menu of fine leaf tea served by white-gloved waiters this isn’t quite for you but if you appreciate good food - a seriously tasty and well presented afternoon tea - in a friendly, cosy Cath Kidston-esque environment this place is spot on. I can’t wait to go back and highly recommend this place. Don’t bother going anywhere else.

Slightly grumpy reception when we accidentally walked through the kitchen the first time but they couldn't have been more welcoming when we went back a couple of weeks later. Guess they were tired after a busy day. It's a lovely little thatched building so I will be taking friends who visit here as its way more charming than the chains in Cambridge.

Just chanced upon a lovely little teahouse while in Cambs. Coffee was perfect- best coffee we have had since arriving fom Australia. Delicious cheese scone and my husband's bacon roll was very much enjoyed too. Owners really nice and delightful thatched cottage! You must go and see for yourself.

You can't beat coming across a little English tearoom in the country, thatched cottage, low ceilings, lovely decor - and then finding they do beautiful home-baked cakes and scones (clotted cream and jam, of course) as well as mouth-watering savouries. This is what happened to us today at Teacake in Shepreth. The tea was served in fine bone china by exceptionally friendly staff and all came in at a very reasonable price - altogether one of those rare perfect experiences that leave you glowing.

Me and my mum were in the last mile of an 11 mile walk around Shepreth and Barrington and saw this at the side of the road.

Popped in here for a coffee with a client of mine and was pleasantly surprised. A lovely array of cakes, coffees and soft drinks.

This was our first visit and we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. Its a novel idea to set a tea shop in a cottage and loved the huge brick open fireplaces. All the cakes are made by the staff and were delicious and pot of tea very good quality. They have a first floor too that was heated on this cold day.

A lovely little teashop. Limited seating downstairs (don't know how much space there is upstairs). Delicious coffee cake which we all chose - but the others looked good too. Very friendly. 4* because we like our coffee much stronger!

A real tea shop. Good quality cheese and ham toasty and a proper pot of tea. Clean and tidy with cheerful and friendly people running it.

Popped in for lunch on Saturday with a baby in tow. The main bar was quite full, thinking the other patrons might like to continue their experience in peace we asked to go into the empty restaurant half. The staff even brought a highchair through to complete our private dinning experience. Good value simple food, we had jacket potato and burger with chips.

Popped in for a lovely lunch, and stayed longer than planned in the end. Friendly staff, efficient yet relaxed atmosphere with a wide selection of food choices and gins! Shame the weather was dire or we'd have loved to spend the afternoon in the garden.

Have breakfast here most days, Wendy,Steve, and the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful and promote the cafe well. Clean and tidy with a good selection of food and drink, good place to have a break.
