Bang on! Great pub! Great service! Highly recommend!

Staying near by wanted to support local pups for our evening meal you can’t go far wrong with the White Swan warm welcome great food and dog welcome friendly atmosphere to enjoy your meal .

3rd update... Went for the breakfast which is now available Thursday/Friday and Saturday 10-12. Food was excellent and exactly what was needed. The staff were good as always and friendly. Would highly recommend as long as it doesn't stop me getting in for breakfast again! Can't get in as often for dinner since the last reviews ! :) Nice pub, family run and clearly tries hard to make you feel welcome. Nice atmosphere on the day we came in and had something to eat. Food was good. I had fish and chips (see attached photo) not bad prices, will certainly be going back for a drink and will try out Sunday roast at some point as well. Well we finally made it back to try the Sunday lunch. Brilliant. They were full but the service was still great and the food was delicious. Will be back again. Added another star to the rating

Stopped in for a late Sunday lunch. Good, old-fashioned local with nice food at a reasonable cost, with friendly locals.

Popped in here for a couple of beers. This is a really nice pub. good beer. lots of locals in the bar but they were very willing to include a visitor. Landlord was helpful and friendly (needed some advice on places nearby). If you like a traditional well kept pub and good beer I cannot recommend this enough.

landlord was hilarious and should be a comedian 😄 very warm welcome and food amazing good hearty meals such as steak and ale pie, chicken leak and bacon pie and scampi and chips. Very reasonably priced too.

I can't say enough nice things about the folks at this pub. I was stranded in Quy when my taxi ditched me. Not only did they give me coffee and snacks, but they also knew a friend of a friend with a taxi! I got back in Cambridge in time for my train. <3

Dropped in for a drink after a day at Anglesey Abbey. Very friendly and welcoming and a good selection of beers.

Friendly atmosphere, nice people, excellent service when dining, good food, comfortable. I really like the pictures in the dining area. I drop in just occasionally when visiting family who live a few doors down but somehow I feel welcome like I belong. It's an easy pub to like :)

One of the best local pubs I've been to. Friendly, unpretentious, great food menu with several vegetarian options but also the usual pub favorites. Main thing was the lovely ambiance.

Great food price and atmosphere cope marvellously with a crowd, cost £260 for us all drink and food cheap but not in quality.

Don't tell everyone, but this is a great place to drop into and escape the crowds at Anglesey Abbey on Mother's Day. Needless to say they were booked solid and eating was out of the question, but the crisps were delicious, and our visit to this charming little pub was made all the better by the warm welcome, banter and attention of those running the pub. Definitely one to return to, ideally with a lunch booking. Solid five stars!

We ate in the bar which was cosy with a log fire. All the food we had was delicious and the fish and chips looked enormous! Great also to be able to get sandwich, which a lot of pubs don't do now, but ideal if you don't want a big meal. We'd go there again.

Cheap & cheerful pub lunch. Quick service, friendly staff (owners). Place could do with a face lift but in these trying times I'm sure just keeping open is a priority. Would go back.

Stopped here for lunch as the Anglesey Abbey Restaurant was rammed with all inside tables taken and didn’t want to eat outside. Had chicken baguette and fries. Took awhile turning up but forgiven as they were busy and enjoyed it when it arrived.

Wonderful Christmas dinner at this very homely pub. Nicely decorated restaurant all prepared for our pre booked club dinner. Superb meal with good size portions, nice staff and a good selection of drinks.

We have enjoyed being customers of the White Swan for many years. The current family staff of Kate and Kevin have helped make this a much improved experience with pleasant chatter, homely atmosphere and very good food and drink. Fish and chips are excellent on Fridays when fresh fish is delivered. Tonight we had steak, chips and roast veg, it was excellent. I highly recommend a visit but booking is advisable. The log burner is the final icing on a great experience.

A proper "old fashion" local in the best sense.... Decent beer, reasonable prices superb fresh fish and chips on a Friday night, people playing cards at the bar and others chatting around the place.... What a pub should be!! Thank you...

Such a great experience! It was our first pub when arrived to UK during our road trip. Traveling with a baby, the owner offered us toys and opened a changing area for the baby. We had very tasty lunch, dessert was just amazing. We would definitely come back if we lived around!

Lovely little local pub, the kind that are very, very rare these days. Really friendly owners who do everything they can for you. If you likely friendly locals in a "living room" this is the spot.

The White Swan today was an unexpected delight. Warm welcome and friendly locals. We had a meeting in the sunshine courtyard. Just the ticket 👍

We stopped here for lunch in the middle of a walk. Very friendly local pub. The real ales were excellent and very good value. This was the cheapest pints I have bought for a while. We had sandwiches and chips and salad which was also very good value for money. We will regularly walk this way in future.

Eight of us decided at short notice to book a meal and we couldn’t have been made more welcome. The landlord and landlady pulled out all the stops to give us a friendly welcome and a good meal. We haven’t laughed so much in a long time with all the friendly banter!

A real life country pub full of locals and good beer. Great food too. It was like stepping back in time to BC (before covid).

We had 2 evening meals in this pub, whilst staying at the nearby Quy Mill Hotel. It's quite small, on both evenings the bar area was quite lively, but we went in the lounge/restaurant area that was very quiet and had our meals in peace. We had fish and chips, scampi and chips one evening, sweet potato and satay curry, and hunter's chicken the next, all well cooked and presented, very tasty. Nice friendly service, the ale was Timothy Taylor's Landlord and one called Pegasus.

Called in for lunch after visiting the local National Trust property. This is a proper unspoilt pub with great food and a cosy atmosphere. The chips were the best we've had for a very long time and great value for money.

Good food..even made me something that was not on the menu..thanks chef...recommended local beer was fabulous..the wife, I had orange juice, driver. And the staff..well..9.5 out of 10.. Thanks guys you completed an enjoyable first visit to your area. BAM

Lovely village pub with a great pint of Timothy Taylor. We popped in on a January Sunday afternoon and it was packed full of locals. We were made to feel very welcome!

Staying in the village for a long weekend ate here on a Friday evening and really enjoyed everything. Friendly service, good food at very reasonable prices and a lovely warm fire on a cold December evening. Couldn't ask for anymore.

Visiting family locally and so pleased to meet the new landlady Kate. The pub is set in a small village surrounded by beautiful countryside just outside Cambridge. Really friendly, lovely inviting atmosphere and to top it delicious home cooked food at affordable prices.

Called in at lunch time on our way back from visiting friends. What a lovely find, very friendly atmosphere the staff were attentive and helpful. The beer was great and the food even better.

The landlord is so friendly. We had a wonderfully relaxed and interesting evening. And fun. Will be back as soon as this virus thing allows us.

Quiet and very much a part of local village life. People popping in for a quick chat to the landlord and landlady even if not stopping for a drink. A lovely chat with an older guy (Peter) who comes in with his dog. If you want food don't leave it too late. I just managed to twist their arms, thankfully- as the fish and chips was delicious.

I came here on the spur of the moment with my partner and three children after a trip to Anglesey Abbey 6 months ago. I've been meaning to write this review since, as our experience of the pub was so good. We arrived to find a cosy interior with friendly locals and sat ourselves in a quiet area of the pub. There wasn't a children's menu but the landlord let us know he could make child size portions of what we wanted from the menu. We ordered fish & chips and burgers. While we were waiting for food the staff went out of their way to find us pens and paper to keep the children entertained. The food arrived in good time, and it was delicious! Everything had been prepared from scratch and was very good quality. On our visit to The White Swan, the food and service was excellent, and I will definitely return.

What is the point of having a sign on the main road which makes you you come off it to go for lunch I need to find the place closed... certainly not a vote for the New Year and shall not be returning...

We were visiting friends in Cambridge area and came across this small local pub. Very friendly atmosphere. Great beers. Went back and second night and had wine (excellent red wine). The proprietor, Matt, was great. This place is not fancy, but we enjoyed it a great deal.

Great local pub with real ales and good gin selection

I've driven past this place so many times and finally, today we popped in for a post walk drink. I am so pleased we did. The pub was lovely. A real old school feel, bit with a good up to date selection of drinks and tasty sounding menu. There are pub games that seem to have disappeared from most pubs and a friendly atmosphere in the main bar. It's the kind of place you would want in your own village. If you have driven past it and never stopped like me, then give it a go, especially if you like your German lager served on a Stein!

Necesitábamos solo sándwiches Caprese tostados y Quesedilas picantes ya que estábamos comiendo en la noche. Nuestra comida sencilla tardó dos veces más en llegar que el pescado y las papas fritas para llegar más tarde. Tenían una cantidad minúscula de relleno y muy poco sabor. Los quesedilas eran especiados pero también en gran parte vacíos Afortunadamente, vivimos lo suficientemente lejos como para no tener ninguna razón para regresar

Very limited menu. Very slow to serve food.

First of all, they put us, a big group of people that included elderly, in a very cold room during a cold day. Defo not cosy. We got a very limited menu. The food was delayed for about an hour+. However, the waiter forgot one of the dishes and claimed that we didn’t order it - a weird unnecessary lie. The food was very basic and not great.

We had a group of 9 people and had to wait 1hr30mins for our orders and they missed one of them too. If they are unused to large orders they could have let us know before we ordered...

Late food, missed menu items, greasy food. We waited 1.5 hours for food for nine to be cooked, when they came mine wasnt there and they said I never ordered it. The place was so cold we sat with jackets on

A few years back I used to come here for Sunday lunch. Last night (Thursday) i came with some mates for a few beers on a nice sunny evening cycle ride out of the city centre (25 mins: easy ride).The White Swan was a welcoming pub. Now it's under new ownership and it's even better. A really welcome surprise. Beer (local breweries) was on great form. Landlord is very welcoming.All in all a proper pub. Not a gastropub, not a restaurant with beer. A real pub with decent beer (and I think there's still food). Highly recommended and will definitely come back here soon!

We'd been for a visit to Anglesey Abbey and the cafe there was heaving, so we thought we'd try a local pub instead. This one was nearby so we we gave it a try.On first turning up we thought it was closed and were a bit unsure about the parking situation. We went in the side door and initial impressions were "a local pub for local people!", so were a bit unsure. However we were quickly greeted by a friendly barmaid and shown the menu, though she told us it was only small and they'd run out of a couple of things.We were hungry so thought we'd give it a go, and are so glad we did. We ordered the ciabatta pizzas which were absolutely delicious and presented really nicely. Took a little while to come out but you could see it was because they were freshly made, and we were happy having a drink anyway.The drinks selection is great, lots of good ales and a large array of gins.We could have quite easily just relaxed in the pub for the rest of the day. It has a very traditional feel which is lacking in so many pubs now, and I'd definitely return if I'm in the area again.As their website says, it's probably "not for everyone", and if you prefer a chain pub and are a large group then it's maybe not for you. I was there with my wife and parents and it was spot on for us.

Excellent range of gins. The landlord does a small selection of top quality food, all freshly prepared. Occasional, hosted events are great fun.

Popped in here before Anglesey abbey and would thoroughly recommend. We had to wait a little while for the food due to staffing issues. But it was definitely worth the wait. I had the fish and chips and this was huge and the chips were delicious. My girlfriend has the pizza and thoroughly enjoyed this. Very reasonable as meal and drinks came to £19.

We love this pub. We don't have the fortune of living in the village but we regularly drive out to it for a walk and visit to the Swan. It's friendly, relaxed and drinks are reasonably priced. We haven't eaten there yet but sure it's only a matter of time!

It is a local village pub it is fullof village hub welcomes passer s by afraid it no longers does food but still a nice pub we usually have to unscrew the landlords coffin just before dark but hey everyone has there faults lol😆😆😆

Estoy sorprendido por las críticas positivas de este pub. Fuimos con nuestro grupo de 24 personas. Pedimos a las 9. 30, vaya para nuestro caminar y regresar para el almuerzo. Llegamos en buen tiempo en 12. 15. No esperes un servicio realmente rápido, siendo un grupo grande, pero era horrible. Servir bebidas era mucho más lento de lo que hemos experimentado en la mayoría de los pubs. Luego nos sentamos a nuestra comida. Este fue el primer problema. No había suficientes asientos en la zona del bar y tuvimos que squash juntas en los bancos. Fue de lo más incómodo. Había otra habitación más grande, pero estaba en la oscuridad y claramente no están en uso. Hay un ordenador y papeles en una de las mesas en la zona del bar, que lo puso fuera de uso y parecía confusa. No había cubiertos ni servilletas en las mesas, así que conseguimos nuestro propio, buscando en la otra habitación. Todo el lugar estaba en mal estado y desordenado y los cubiertos era muy viejo. La zona del bar era desordenado con olor vasos.El pescado frito estaba disponible como la orden no había llegado (no es su culpa), pero solo me dijeron que nuestro grupo esta cuando los individuos dieron bebidas antes de su comida y pagamos en vez de anunciar que el grupo para pedir. Mi marido, que estaba cerca de la parte trasera de la cola, eligió una hamburguesa porque me dijeron que no iba a ser rápido.La comida llegaba lentamente, una taza de sopa a la vez. Después de unos 40 minutos mi marido y yo todavía no había sido atendida y cuando pedimos que nos dieron un muy brusco" que viene! "He recibido mi pastel de pescado después de unos 45 minutos de espera y la mayoría de los grupos eran casi terminado. No vale la pena la espera. Era bastante bueno, pero casi no había peces en él, a unos pequeñas piezas. Mi marido todavía estaba esperando. Aún ninguna disculpa o información. Cuando finalmente llegó mi marido se quejó acerca de cuánto tiempo hubiéramos esperado (una hora) para una hamburguesa. Obtuvo una respuesta muy grosero diciendo 'Este no es Macdonald's que conoces. Según mi marido la hamburguesa era normal en el mejor. Nuestro grupo había dejado ahora. El cocinero no volver y dar una disculpa renuente. "sólo me dieron la orden 15 minutos" hace quejamos. Y sin embargo había sólo dos personal - claramente no comunicar a todos! Quienes sopa dijo que estaba bien, pero no muy cálido. Otros ordenados ciabatta con ensalada caprese, pero llegó sin ciabatta. Pensaron que no valía la pena quejándose.Está claro que no tienen el personal o la capacidad de tratar con un grupo grande. Pero no les sorpresa, había sido reservada desde hace tiempo. Su clara falta de interés en el pub o sus clientes fue muy decepcionante.No volveré. Le doy una estrella porque aparentemente las patatas fritas eran buenas!

Nice pub obviously a well like local, we had sunday roast which was lovely and a good dish of vegetables. Dessert was apple and blackberry crumble with custard, very tasty. Good price for good food. Staff were friendly.
