Took the grandchildren to the Merrivale model village which was excellent. We ordered a large bowl of chips each at £5.40 I'd hate to see a normal size portion. When we asked for some vinegar we were told they had been busy and had run out. We then had to eat a dry bowl of chips, fortunately not to many! They had also run out of toilet paper which we did tell the staff about, to prevent customer distress.

A great place to visit delicious food and fabulous staff. I have an allergy so I made a staff member called Leanne aware before ordering food. The chef named kyle came out and discussed my requirements , wow what a star thankyou so much to you both. My food arrived just as I had asked for it, tasty, well present and plenty of it. The Teamrooms inside and outside are spotless. Its clear staff take pride in their surroundings and care about the customer experience great atmosphere. Once again . Thankyou to all at Merrivillie Tearooms will be back soon for sure.

This is a good one! We ordered £6.50 cream cheese and bacon bagels with the bacon on the side. My wife doesn't eat butter but we saw no need to state this on ordering because who puts butter on a cream cheese bagel? This is what arrived! An oily drizzle over the top! We sent one back and were then told "it isn't butter, it's a substitute". They brought out a catering pack of it. Basically rapeseed oil, it is designed for frying, not drizzling! We were then refused a refund or free exchange because we hadn't stated "no butter". We paid £3 for a scone in replacement, which we would have accepted in exchange. So, we hope your one star review is worth the £3.50 it has cost you? Oh, and there's a flock of sparrows grazing in the cafe. Cute, but think of the poop!

We visited twice once for a drink then went back for breakfast the next day. Staff were absolutely lovely, such a peaceful garden full of flowers and birds. Just a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront. Plenty of water bowls for our puppy and also a doggie menu including 2 sausages and gravy for £3.50.

Awful ….. chose a cornflake cake and tea for two, lovely girl behind the counter served us they where however busy and she was doing her best, once I tasted the cake and discovered that it was salted caramel, I would never have that much salt on my chips !! Horrible, however the chef was very rude and abrupt.

Dreadful, Whilst it was a pretty courtyard feel, my chocolate eclair was the hardest, driest I have ever had. My daughter’s millionaire wasn’t much better. I attempted to eat it as I don’t like complaining but then thought that it was so bad that I needed to say something. The cakes are expensive. I politely told the waiter that it was awful and he took it away. The most rudest girl came back with it and said it was supposed to be like that. I said choux pastry shouldn’t be rock hard and totally crispy and she proded it, said it wasn’t choux pastry but an eclair. She just rudely walked away and said I won’t refund you. The customer care skills are zero and we will never return. I highly advise that you don’t venture here as these people seriously need to improve the non- existent service and the way they speak to people. They could do with understanding the food they serve and how to store it.

One of the best ploughman's i've ever had. Yes I chose the prawn marie rose, rather than the tradition ham or cheese. But honestly it would of just been as good having seen someone's. Lovely cafe, I loved the history that was put on the menus and the pictures around the room. I’ve worked in food all my life so I’m not easily impressed. But I really was here! So much to choose from! The food was lovely, thought was brilliant that there is even a doggie menu and you can have a cocktail aswell. I’m just gutted I wasn’t more hungry as I only had the afternoon tea, would have loved to have eaten their food. My partner’s breakfast was lovely, he really enjoyed it, the only bad thing I can say, he said he wished he had another butter, I gave him min so was easily sorted, then I only got one jam and it wouldn’t really spread, would of liked 2 jams. So really silly things you can pick at but that’s it! Was lovely and clean, staff was friendly. Highly recommend

We visited here at the weekend as we had done a lot of walking and wanted to get a coffee. I was impressed with the syrup selection and we both ordered amaretto lattes. However, unfortunately the drinks were really vile! They were machine based which is fair enough as not all coffee shops/cafes offer barista style coffees and normally these taste fine as I have had them in other places lots of times. But they must be using something in it which is really cheap and nasty tasting, as the coffees tasted mostly of hot water, but with lumpy milk. I spent ages trying to spoon out the clumps of milk, but to not much avail. It was really off putting and tasted horrible. The amaretto tasted really strong at least, but I think this was because there was hardly any coffee in the drink; just syrup, hot water and milk. I was worried to be honest that the milk had gone off, but I think they're probably using condensed milk or something which really isn't mixing well with the coffee. I don't usually leave reviews scoring this low, but I felt that this was really needed to show how disappointed we were and how disgusting those drinks were.

This place was so disappointing. We had gone as a family with the grand children. It was a cold wet day and we were left standing waiting for a table, not good for elderly relative with mobility issues. While we were waiting children needed the loo, not good. We eventually sat down at a table ourselves and were told off. As many people do these days because of covid we qioed the menus with our own dettol wipes, they were filthy. The children wanted sandwiches and juice the rest of us tea and cakes. The chikdren could not eat theirs - they were dry and curled up. We could not drink our teas and coffee's. They were stone cold . I do hope it is up for full refurbishment, it was tired and chattie. We won't be going back.

She’s 8, and it’s very rare that you see GF children’s options. There were probably 4 that she could chose from on the children’s menu which was brilliant. All 6 of us that went were very pleased with our lunches, and bought cake to take away (amazing selection!), plus a GF piece for my daughter. Very polite and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. And nice surroundings too. We’ll definitely be returning on our next trip to Great Yarmouth.

We arrived when the restaurant wasn’t that busy and ordered gluten free scones. These were small and has to be defrosted. They were dry and didn’t taste of anything. I got asked three times whether I wanted to visit their ‘cocktail shack’ on the side of the building which looked like it was decorated by a 16 year olds. No one bought anything from the shack the whole time we were there a so I wasn’t going to. When we were trying to eat outside an old man attending the dying flowers surrounding the outside area kept brushing brushing past us as he walked by. We only wanted to be left alone. We had lunch here and were really impressed. Clean with accommodating staff. The cream teas were amazing. This would have given the Tea Rooms 5 stars but alas we visited again after a repeat visit to the Model Village and although we asked if they would be able to take an order after 4pm we arrived about 4.30 and immediately were offered a high chair for the youngest which was cleaned before use. As before, we were impressed. We then went to order after a few minutes only to be told that the Kitchen was closed. Why were we allowed to take a table and be given the high chair if the place was closed? Hence only 3 star rating. All that was needed was a sign that the Kitchens were closed and only drinks could be served. We had no problem with the closure, just the wasted time in believing we would be served.

In Yarmouth with grandchildren for a short break. We were very close to the Merrivale which describes itself as a "Tea Room" so we went in, or rather under as outside of their property there is a large canopy. Not sure if this is a direct result of the Covid virus but it certainly was a very good, positive response to the problem. We watched as staff members cleaned every table and chair at the time of clearing the tables from earlier customers. The lunch 'snack' was excellent and really adequate for a full meal. The kids were made very welcome and we all enjoyed the food. We looked at the 'Mains' menu and decided that rather than looking elsewhere we'd come back. Again the covered outdoor space was an added attraction. The evening meal, I have to say was really Very Very good. The kids were well looked after, my wife enjoyed Lasagne which she said was excellent. My son had a mixed grill which was beautifully cooked and presented. I opted for a sea food platter, it was fabulous. Lots more I could say but I think I'd be accused of being too gushing! I'd go back any day, in fact we did the following day for a meal before heading home.I'd up the name to Merrivale Restaurant!

Unfortunately after being a regular visitor to the Merrivale tea rooms for many years we have moved on. After a walk with our dog we used to have a regular order for the vegetarian breakfast and we used to treat our dog to the doggy breakfast,to make things easier we put the doggy breakfast, sausages, onto our plate when we were finished, we accept that this was probably not acceptable but the way it was handled is the big issue, rather than quietly asking us not to do this the waitress involved shouted from virtually the other side of the outside seating area and making a big scene of the situation. We just think this could have been handled with more consideration and thought. No doubt they are not going to worry about losing one customer but it's a shame as Chris was an absolute gent and the rest of the staff were so pleasant.

What great food and service we’ve had here on our three visits whilst staying in Yarmouth and wow what a fantastic cake selection they have. They also had a great selection of different teas and I also saw that they catered for gluten free diets.

I came here today with family & friends for lunch because I know it's always good here, we arrived on a very windy day & decided what to order for our lunches from a good choice from their menu & specials on the board, so we sat & a helpful waiter guided us to a table that had just been cleared so it was in a sheltered spot. The hanging baskets in the covered area where we sat were amazing, it was packed with them & finished off the overall look of this attractive tea room! Our lunches soon arrived which were reasonably priced & all were good especially my fresh cromer crab salad & we had ice creams & fresh cream cakes too, again were very nice. The staff were friendly & helpful.we enjoyed the penny arcade, gift shop & had a good time at the model village where a lovely gentleman joked with us where we had to pay. We ended up taking home some delicious hand made fudge served by a jolly lady! Lots of flavours to choose from too! I visit both places every year & am never disappointed! Dog friendly too!

This has always been our go to place for a snack/drink when in Yarmouth. We visited twice in two weeks when on holiday but decided not to return again.

Lovely old fashioned tea room, with home made cakes. Only had cakes, but noticed how appetising the meals looked. Nice large pot of tea, and the flower baskets were gorgeous. Well worth a visit

After visiting the Merrivale Model Village, we stopped here for some food. Very decently priced, great selection of food and drinks. Really lovely outside area, with covers in case of bad weather. Beautiful hanging baskets everywhere. Well worth a visit.

All food is freshly made and portion sizes are good. Staff are very polite and friendly. Tea room is accommodating for gluten free/dairy free needs and also allows dogs outside. Would highly recommend this tea room.

We found this place by accident really and so pleased we did. It has one of the best vegetarian, vegan and gluten free selections we've seen in a long time as well as having an extensive 'ordinary' menu. We had the cauliflower and cheese fillets with chips and peas and the steak pie with chips peas and a pot of gravy. Both were really tasty, hot and presented well. The desserts displayed in the fridge inside looked wonderful but we didn't have room left to try them. There is a lovely outside undercover seating area full of bright flowers and good sized tables. The chap serving was very helpful, pleasant and chatty. We would recommend to anyone - families, couples and those with dogs etc. as dogs are made welcome and can even have their own meal provided!! . A great value for money find.

Fantastic atmosphere, clean and relaxed, polite and efficient staff, food ordered and served within 30 mins for whole group. Delicious and indulgent cake selection. Alcohol served on premises but a more relaxed summer garden setting evening meal. Definitely felt a relaxed and calm evening with young children which would recommend adding the merrivale model village next door for entertainment.

If i'm honest, I wasn't entirely happy with these tea rooms. We ordered 2 choc. cake slices and a drink which came to just over 8 pounds.... not great value for money but it's too be expected. The tea room itself was far too warm!

Extremely disappointing experience as residents as bed and breakfast at the hotel is not cheap. The juice was orange coloured but had probably never seen an orange, no option of fruit or yoghurt with cereals (you can have either/ or), no choice of milk offered, no toast unless you have full English, no top up of tea or coffee offered and a chipped plate. Staff unable to confirm ingredients in a Continental breakfast which in any event apparently comes ready plated. It all seemed a bit penny pinching and for the sake of offering a couple of slices of toast and a pot of yoghurt a bit pathetic.

They took 3 payments out my bank account still waiting for a refund. VERY HARD TO CONTACT ANY BODY TO TELL THE TRUTH. Never stop there again.

Lovely venue (we sat in the courtyard garden), attentive but not over attentive staff and lovely food. Had the big breakfast and it was great and so big I skipped lunch!
