We loved our lunch here, and the service was excellent! It was a big contrast with another place we tried earlier, where they halted service for 10 minutes in order to "catch up" - how ridiculous! We were made to feel welcome at Stars, despite it being busy, and couldn't fault our delicious food, at a good price too 😋. They're missing a trick by not having Buxton pudding on the menu though - surely we're not the only people who like to sample local specialities when visiting a place for the first time?

Called in for a drink on Saturday lunchtime. Really good atmosphere & very friendly bar staff. We asked how long it would take to walk to the station for our train back to Sheffield & Kath insisted on giving us a lift . We now have a new local in the Hope Valley. Will be returning soon.

I and my husband went for dinner .Restaurant section was empty . When I order my drink sprite waitress asked me pint or half and I realised that is not in the bottle so I wanted to change bottle of diet coke. After that strangely she was questioning that why I wanted bottle not the other option . Anyway then we ordered 2 starters , 2 mains and 1 puding. As a starter we both ordered the soup and it was ok. And the main course I had the fish which is disappointing. It was too tough , just boiled fish not even seasoned . It comes with raw onion ,some black olives, 1 bigh dried tomato and 1 egg. And again chef didn’t even put a pinch of salt in it. I finished the fish because I was so hungry and I didn’t want to waste it. Never come back again .

I love The Star. The cask ales are an ever- changing selection and are well-kept by someone who obviously knows how to run a cellar. Tom the barman knows my preference for ale now and if there are brews on that I'm unfamiliar with will recommend the one he thinks will best fit my tastes. He's rarely been wrong. You won't get football screens or loud music, except in a Monday night which is home to an acoustic trad/ folk music session. This used to be in the back room but has acquired so many attendees over the last year that it's now in one end of the main bar. The music is a great mix of both songs and tunes, with a real buzz most Mondays and is well worth a visit just to listen, or to join in if you play or sing. Otherwise it's just a great traditional pub serving excellent beer and somewhere to have good conversations with family or friends.

Blonde woman who works here needs to learn how to talk to people nicely. Went for ice creams for the kids at 14:40 and on entering she snaps to not close the door behind us. I was only being polite and didn't know it was warm inside. Went to order some ice creams, cakes and a toastie but she said in an eye rolling manner 'we're not serving hot food' I said 'what foods are you serving?' Thinking it was something to do with the heat; maybe they were only serving cold foods/sandwiches? She said 'only cakes and coffees as we're closing soon'. I just left with out buying anything as I didn't want to be a burden to her 16:00 closing time. If the woman was polite and explained things in a less snappy manner I would have settled for a few cakes and ice creams (without the meal). I would recommend self reflection and possibly communication training skills (unless it is due to a severe learning disability).

We are visiting the area, and are really pleased with the take away food this evening. Great portions, excellent food. Enjoyed it.

Please explain this to whoever was serving on the counter in Glossop yesterday lunch time. He asked me to pay extra for a bottle of water. when the egg sandwich I bought was on a shelf clearly labled as part of a sandwich deal "What is included in Greggs sandwich deal? Sandwich deal includes any selected cold sandwich and any cold drink or any regular hot drink. Speciality hot drink upgrade is from 50p extra and upgrade to a large hot drink is from 50p extra. Excludes soup"

Dreadful overpriced food, small portions, barely cooked and incredibly slow service. Drinks were fine but avoid the food . Service was so slow groups of people left. Such a shame as the location is fabulous
