The Phoenix in High Peak

Ordered £145 worth of food. Took 2 hours to arrive and worst Chinese food we’ve ever had. All food bland and taste the same. Pancakes for crispy duck inedible, gluepy and stuck together.

Been going to the Phoenix since 2007 and they food is consistently of a very good quality. If I ask for something to be changed like more chilli or a substitute ingredient they are always happy to oblige. My other half has an allergy and they go out of their way to make sure we get precisely what we asked for and to ensure that the food it as we requested it. You can't ask for more.

So whilst other chinese places come and go with their various hype and blah blah following this place has truly stood the test of time for well over 20 years and should be supported. I have used it for over these 20 years and more. Never had a bad meal, always reliable. They go beyond to please customers. I rang up tonight, didn't realise they now closed at 8pm not 9 during the week... they still did our order and delivered it personally. When all the other flash in the pan places have come and gone it's still there, a long standing local take away. Great food cooked in a clean kitchen.... let's carry on supporting it. You can always rely on Phoenix, the best Chinese in the area.

Ordered chicken curry and chips takeaway. Usually a safe bet at any Chinese. This was really unpleasant, very distinctive sweet flavour I just couldn’t eat it.

Ordered through Just Eat, order came fairly quickly but was missing an item, so had to phone to get them to send it up- the person that answered seemed fairly grumpy. The crispy duck was very crispy to the point of being burnt, the ribs were, well just ribs with no meat on. Chicken chow mien was very vinegary and little meat and I’m not sure what the last dish was, but it didn’t look like shredded beef to me. Very disappointed

Lovely tea tonight of ribs. Mushroom rice and mushroom curry and portion of salt and pepper chips. Excellent price too

Just had delivered chicken satay....dreadful! No flavour just tons of onions a bit of green pepper and what I can only describe as gravy...tasted bland! Don’t waste your money!

Me and my girlfriend got a takeaway delivered on Sunday evening. We thought we would try the Pheonix in Whaley instead of our usual one in Chapel as they delivered. The food was fantastic. It arrived pretty when we expected and was nice and hot when it got here. We had salt n pepper wings, spring rolls, beef in black bean and chicken curry which was really tasty. Will be ordering again. Thanks Pheonix

All of the takeaways in Whaley Bridge closed down during the Cocid-19 lockdown and we had nowhere to get our takeaways from. Fortunately one of the first to re-open was the Phoenix Chinese, but they are just opening at the weekend at the moment and doing deliveries. We had one the last two Fridays and they were brill. We had the crispy duck/pancakes, Beef in black bean sauce and chicken in black pepper sauce extra extra hot. Everything arrived on time, really hot and was well tasty. Me and my girlfriend are looking forward to when they open weekdays as well.

Utterly awful, ordered special chow mein, burt noodles no beansrouts kids in kitchen.i will never go back. Stear clear of this awful place

Food is always good with a wide variety and specials always available. There is also seating and tables if you wish to eat in.

A fabulous meal delivered absolutely to perfection.Four starters,side dishes and mains,all wonderful ,will order again when in the area

The cucumber for the duck pancakes was vinegary like it had started to go off. Salt and pepper chicken tasteless. Chilli beef slimy. Would not recommend.

Not all Chinese Takeaways do black pepper sauce but luckily our local one has started doing it . The chicken in black pepper with fried rice is excellent and I can't recommend it enough if you like tasty spicy food. Match that with their salt and pepper chips and you have a marriage made in heaven.

Good value for money excellent food delivered by polite staff,,always warm ,no order to small very tasty.

Ordered at 6.15pm was told delivery 7.15 but no it arrived 30 mins early but not only that a delightful delivery guy too, but the salt pepper chicken was OMG, my Singapore vermicelli was just as good too, had food from here a few times but this was just the best yet, ❤️❤️

Food used to be fresh and not greasy, now starting to slip downhill. With The other Chinese food place closed so it's a shame this is the only one that delivers (YoYo won't deliver)

Consistently good throughout the years this take away has been in Whaley Bridge. Recommend the fried chicken in ok sauce. Delivery is fast so food is hot.

We just had an exceptional experience with the chef of The Phoenix. For many years, my husband and I have had the occasional treat on the weekend via Just Eats or going straight to their take away. The food has always been tasty, especially their Salt and Pepper ribs, and my husband's favourite, Chicken Balls in Batter (very hard to find).

Pedí a través de comer solo pedimos allí antes, y la comida estaba bien, pero no la última noche. Pedí a las 20:45 Comida entregado unos minutos antes el restaurante está cerrado. Abrió la comida especial de arroz frito para encontrar que estaba fría, sólo tenía pollo, carne y guisantes. Estaba nadando en grasa, de color marrón y sobras congeladas en partes. No una porción también un barrio de la bañera estaba vacío. No se puede llamar arroz frito especial. Las bolas de pollo frío, ordenados eran duras y un encogimiento y casi quemado en la mayoría de color. La salsa curry estaba helada como si hubiese sido sacada de la nevera y poner en la olla y las costillas de repuesto barbacoa eran frías y pelo quemado y sustitúyalas salidos algunos. La única comida comestible era el pan de gambas. La comida era entregado como lo cierran, así que no pude conseguir de ellos para quejarse. Me uno a la queja e iniciar sesión comer esa noche y hablaba de nuevo hoy. Hablaban con el restaurante que dicen nada malo con su comida y básicamente duro! ! He mantenido la comida ya que estaba tan mal y se les informes a salud ambiental primera cosa mañana. Servicio al cliente pésimo y no pedir de nuevo.

Ordered a starter and maim each with a rice dish. Each dish was lacking in flavour: chicken satay with no trace of usual nut; crispy shredded beef that was categorically not crispy, and questionable as to what animal it was sourced from; Singapore rice with no spices and again, dubious content origins. Completely gobsmacked at lack of quality or seeming effort put into actually cooking the food.

Tenía otra comida para llevar en Phoenix el sábado y realmente disfrutamos de la comida. Fue agradable y caliente cuando llegamos y era muy sabroso. Siempre tenemos la sal y pimienta costillas, son bonitas y picante. Mejor comida china de la zona sin duda.

We ordered a takeaway from the Phoenix,and it was delicious.Delivery was fast and the food was well presented and hot even though we were a few miles away.

I have been using the Phoenix for over 5 years. Always good food, always friendly service. Prices are very good and still the same as five years ago. When I want a Take Away in Whaley Bridge I always use the Phoenix.

Ordered two totally different dishes, one chicken one beef and they were exactly the same. Worse yet, both tasted like nothing. The establishment looks shabby and the proprietor/chef is unfriendly and scruffy. Won't be going back. One to avoid.

I tried to remember today how many years I have used Phoenix, not sure but got to be at least 9 years or more and never had a bad meal in all those years of consistantly using them. There have been other chinese takeaways in the village during that time but none of them have been quite as good. I have found over the last couple of months that some of the sauces have become quite wattery and thus tasteless, the satay especially springs to mind.I can't help but wonder that if a really good all singing all dancing chinese opened up Phoenix might get a shock, the expression resting on ones lorrels springs to mind?. It's good and been better than the others but its not fantastic, could be better

not the best ive had not the worst. Service slow and took forever to make our food.... food was ok not the nicest. be careful on the floor it is VERY slippy!

Normally very good, ordered through just eat at half 8. Checked where it was at half nine after having confirmation it would be here by 21:15, to be told they closed at nine. Sorry not good enough.

Tried this place because our usual place was busy. One out of three meals was ok but the other two lacked flavour and was laden with uncooked peppers. Will not order from there again.

Not my usual Chinese in Whaley Bridge but decided to give Phoenix a go but what a mistake that was - the food was not authentic, not tasty and an all round poor meal, I asked for extra spicy and still could not get any flavour from the dish - I do not write negative reviews generally but this was so bad I did not want anyone to make the. Same mistake- I really wish I had not bothered and gone to the kebab shop instead!

When the family come round, we always order a chinese takeaway from the Phoenix. We've all got our favourites but I love the salt n pepper spare ribs and the crispy duck and pancakes. The takeaway is spotlessly clean when I go in to collect the food and the staff seem friendly enough. The kids always order on just eat, but I just don't do technology so the phone works ok for me.

Have been getting Chinese food from the Phoenix for the last few months and am rarely disappointed. They cook the food spicy and low fat, which is how we like it and it always arrives piping hot. Would recommend their food to anybody.
