It's a take out really although you can eat in its not a great restaurant. The food is always good, staff are pleasant and friendly.

Absolutely disgraceful left waiting for 30mins after food was meant to be ready. Chicken balls were definitely left overs that had been refried the pot of sweet and sour sauce was pointless. I have alway gone here when I wanted high quality Chinese but these have gone down hill and I won't ever be going back. NEGATIVE 5 STARS

Absolutely disgusting!! £30 delivery today 29/3/24.. Cold rice, cold chips, 1 solid lump of fat was supposed to be BBQ ribs. Chicken balls were left overs and re fried and rock hard, chow mein was at best Luke warm... Absolutely vile, never again and I urge you, Please don't bother!!!!!!😔😞

A large order placed for a special occasion. There were missing items on the order with little or no compensation. The food quality was poor and obviously items were reheated I will not be recommending this restaurant and if this standard continues customers will not be returning.

Such a pity as we were really looking forward to this weekend. A 70th birthday weekend with a family group of 10. We ordered our food at 7.30 and estimated delivery at 9pm. Fair enough, it's Saturday night. 9.15 and no sign so called the restaurant to be told it was just getting cooked 🤔. Around 9.45 food turned up and all looked good except no satay chicken, seemed like sechuan instead but couldn't be bothered to get it changed. We thought the food was actually pretty good, but then three of us have had vomiting and diarrhoea since 4am this morning. It can only be the food, possibly sitting around for too long (we think maybe the chicken balls but no way to tell?). Not good and has ruined the weekend for them. I don't like leaving negative reviews but this was really disappointing.

Ordered approx £80 of food on a Saturday evening for a 70th birthday party. The order took 2 and a half hours to arrive, was incorrect and 3 of our party were up all night with serious food poisoning symptoms. Completely ruined the rest of the weekend as we can’t do anything on the last day, and they’ve had to remain in bed. Have made a complaint to the local food standards agency. From other reviews it doesn’t seem like a one off. Wouldn’t chance it again

I have been coming here for almost 30 years but will never return after my recent experiences. 4 out of the last 5 takeaway orders have all been wrong in one way or another. 1) Ordered king prawn with beansprouts happy meal, but received sweet & sour battered chicken happy meal. 2) Ordered mixed vegetable curry & fried rice, but received mixed vegetable chow mein. 3) Ordered chicken in black pepper sauce, but received beef. 4) Last but not least, ordered over phone at 5pm, told it would be 10-15 mins so got there for 5:10. Stood there waiting whilst people came & went with their takeaways, waited until 5:50pm before they even acknowledged me & the fact they had given my takeaway order to someone else by accident. Instead of sorting this out for me immediately, they waited for that person to return with the food & then took their carrier bag into the kitchen. I could see them swapping things over between bags etc & after being stood there for almost an hour by this point, finally being handed my bag containing items which were almost cold & a dish containing mushrooms that I had requested no mushrooms in. There are only 2 of us with very simple orders each time, I cannot understand why these issues keep happening to us. The food came wrong whether ordered in person/ over the phone or online. I cannot trust them to get the orders right anymore & I will be going elsewhere in future.

Absolutely terrible! Had takeaway, delivery was quick but food was disgusting, they had sent the wrong order for my wife who could have ended up in hospital because of food allergies - chillies. The lamb looked like it had been cremated not deep fried even the dog who will eat anything turned his nose up. Forgot part of the order. First time and last time for us, cost £48.00 and most ended up in the bin.

We had a take away and I've got to say the food was amazing so fresh and very tasty , the best I've had in a long time. Will definitely be ordering from there again

I have ordered twice in a week from here and the total time before I received both my orders has been over 4 hours

Ordered a meal and the really pleasant delivery lady apologised about only having half a portion of prawn crackers and said “ we will give you more next time”. Fast forward 20 minutes and she delivered the remaining crackers. Exceptional service and really pleasant 5 stars.

I ordered a takeaway from here included a special rice dish described on the menu as vegetable rice. The meal arrived on time and the food was generally ok, I discovered the vegetable rice had both cashew nuts and egg in that were not included on the description. My friend is a vegan so could not eat the rice so I requested a replacement. I was told it was my fault as I should have known there was egg in there and asked for it to be taken out when I ordered. I said I ordered vegetable rice, egg is not a vegetable, why would I ask for egg to be taken out of a vegetable dish? I found the manner on the phone unhelpful, rude, accusatory. The phone call went on for ages further disrupting the meal, I said I need to get off the phone. They called back and reluctantly agreed to replace the dish when their driver was available. This arrived over an hour after the original meal so the whole meal was disrupted. No apology was received, you might hope for a complimentary bag of prawn crackers or can of coke in this instance but nope. Just requested the original rice back at the door. Why? Is this being fed to someone else?

Used to be a regular customer till I moved away 8 years ago. Revisited today and the food was still good, hot and generous portions. They seem to me solely concentrating on takeaway as the dining room has shrunk by 50%.

Ordered food at 6.35pm Saturday didn't arrive till 8.20pm despite ringing them about the delay. The food was terrible! It tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave oven. Needless to say it went in the bin. Few days later been ill with upset stomach. Will never order from there again.

Great food, best chinese takeaway in buxton. Although I'd suggest getting a new delivery driver. No customer service skills what so ever and just damn right rude, puts me off ordering.

I was about to enter the shop when I realized it was not the great panda, but infact the great pana This is not okay The D had fallen off leading me to believe it was stuck on with PVA glue or some balderdash like that. Once u get a new D and stick it down with GORILLA GLUE I might actually consider buying some nosh. Peace out

Food took 1 hour and 20 minutes. (Told 40 mins) Handed a bag of cold food. Crispy duck was over cooked and inedible, only got 2 pancakes out of a quarter of duck because it was slim pickings and very dry. £4.20 for salt and pepper chips that were clearly not fresh and possibly a few days old. How disgusting to be charged this for something so simple and could be so tasty if more care was given. Most of the food went in the bin. So a complete waste of money. I’m sorry but I won’t be returning, I’ve given the great panda so many chances to redeem themselves but quite clearly have no regard for its customers or the products they sell. Maybe spend more care and money on the products you send out rather than the tacky calendar you give customers as a poor consolation for the bad food they are about to eat.

We went here yesterday, the food was really nice and there were very large portions. The food was very tasty and the Singapore Rice had a large number of different meats.

First time ordering from here and we were impressed. Had the great panda box and our only gripe was the wings were a bit too crispy and so difficult to eat. Everything else tasted great. Did forget our included cans though but service was quick and friendly, food tasted great so will let them off ;)

The food here is really good; fresh, tasteful and well composed. The ambience is that of a canteen (it's highly popular for take-away). Focus on the deliciousness of the dishes and go for a stroll in the gardens afterwards.

Asked if I could dine the chef told me a straight no very rudely and walked off with no explanation then the lady started angrily waving her hands at me to leave

Food was fantastic! Wait was longer than expected on Saturday but other than that it was great. Hot and spicy combonation dish is my favourite paired with vermecelli noodles. And the chicken and sweetcorn soup is to die for!

Phoned a few weeks ago to book a table. When we arrived the restaurant was empty apart from two people who looked like they'd wandered in by accident No tables were set with cutlery or glasses. They didn't have our booking and seemed puzzled and confused that we were there. The whole atmosphere seemed odd so we cut our losses and ate elsewhere.

Dreadful. Greasy. Dry chicken. Slimey beef. Odd taste. We think new owners or definitely new chef. What a shame. Has been our favourite for 10 years. Never again. 2 stars just for salt & pepper ribs which were just OK.

We dined in for two nights in a row. Tried a number of dishes (chicken fried rice, signature fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, sliced beef, tofu, spicy prawns) and all were good. I recommend the broccoli with oyster sauce as a side. Would come back if ever in the area again.

90 minuits delivery, food luke warm at best and not nice at all, honestly hand on heart, one of the worst takeaways I've ever had, saving grace was the prawn crackers were quiet nice. Will not be using again

Amazing food! Absolutely no problems with the food. The only criticism I can give is that I did pre-order my food at 5PM to arrive for 6.45pm and then at 5.30pm the food arrived, so 1 hour 15 minutes earlier than I wanted to have it (had a late lunch so didn't want it too early) when I pre-order I expect the food to arrive somewhere near the time I would like to eat it!

The best ribs in ok sauce you will find. Never had a bad meal what ever i have ordered. Crispy duck omg um!!!, reasonable priced,dont want to overdo or delivery times will increase .hygiene rating 5*.no dicky tummy yet after 8 years.....enjoy!!!!MB.

Absolutely shocking 2 and a half hours waited so we rung up for our money back and the rude woman who needs sacking started swearing to us and kept saying all your bothered about is your money which you would be if you had spend it then she decided she would put the phone down on us and blocked our number needs shutting down

As we were too tired to have a sit down meal anywhere I was sent off to find a Chinese meal. Turning up unannounced the fodd only took ten minutes and for the large amount of food it was very good value on what was a very nice chicken chow mien!

Our favourite, we've been having takeaway service for years, as well as the excellent Sunday lunch deal, which unfortunately is no longer available. But they treat me like a stranger every time. Can be a bit hit and miss on a Monday.

During pandemic the restaurant is take away only. Everything was delicious 😋 Recommend.

Due to not being able to go out due to virus we decided to have a takeaway, picked Great Panda because for many years we were regulars there when a guy called Jimmy had it. We had problems with the restaurant since the new people took over due to their reluctance with disabled access (even though had a ramp) but thought that the take away would be ok. My wife arranged to pick up at the arranged time and was surprised to find a lot of pre cooked takeaways waiting on a table in a bag (no idea how long they had been there) when we got home after no more than 5 mins we opened the starters to find that the spring rolls were soggy, the c-weed was mush, the sesame prawn toast was soggy and all bent up, the spare ribs were not spare ribs but 2 small bits of meat no bigger than half my index finger. The crispy duck was no longer crispy but rather fatty,soggy. one of the main courses was crispy beef in chilli and because it had been left out was as tough as old boots the only thing that we enjoyed was the shared black bean chicken. It is my 60th birthday next mont6h but will not be going back here.

First time trying and the worst Chinese I've ever had ordered two mains and special fried rice and Curry sauce. Apart from everything being very small portions and only warm nothing was even nice do not eat here

I think this restaurant mostly caters for take away orders but two of us had a good , low cost meal there one cold winter's evening . They sell Tsing Tao beer and their food is good , hot and tasty . The lady who serves the tables speaks good English and is helpful and lively . I recommend .

Nice food, the portion sizes were good. Not the best chicken curry I've ever had, but good enough. Takeaway is most common, I ate in but I had the place to myself, and the place is a bit scruffy to dine in. But overall a good experience, the staff were very quick with good service

Me and my partner ordered for collection, not knowing we was going to be disappointed. The salt and pepper chicken was stone cold with no flavour whatsoever! The house special chow mein was literally vegetables, hardly any noodles. Then we come to the meat!! Cold, discoloured and parts still raw! The chicken had pink patches which obviously wasn’t cooked, the pork was full of fat and veins. Disgusted and disappointed!!

Loyalty counts for nothing, we have been regular customers for over 20 years, but, on Saturday the meal arrived and we looked forward to tucking into it. BUT, no egg in the egg fried rice..none..So I rang to enquire as to why.." we make up to 12 portions and sometimes it isn't mixed properly".."so where's my egg ?". Truly unbelievable!!!Excruciating..

Visited for evening dinner with family. Some food dishes were good and tasty but not all - my crispy chilli beef was very chewy and the sauce too strongly flavoured, covering the beef and chilli tastes. The place has no ambience at all, with delivery drivers and people collecting their takeaways coming and going all the time. The service was haphazard and, because there were no warmers on the table, my food was cold by the time the last of it was dished up from the serving plates. We thoght that the food was on the pricey side. I'm afraid we won't be going back there.

Got the mailbox full blues? Ringing this restaraunt is a nightmare. Getting through is always difficult because it is so popular. However, when you do manage to and place a relatively small and simple order for delivery to be told it will take up to 1h30m to be delivered. That’s OK we expect this from Great Panda because the food is the best Chinese in Buxton. To wait 2h10m, however, is unacceptable and no courtesy call to offer an apology/explanation. Clearly they cannot cope with demand so we will be ordering from elsewhere. It is simply too much hassle despite my addiction to salt and pepper chicken wings.

No frills Chinese appearance-wise but v good food that has significantly improved in recent weeks in my opinion. Use as an occasional takeaway as we live in Buxton since 2018, & this is now “very acceptable food”, from it’s earlier “average” rating. Well worth a takeaway if you’re in Buxton!

Even though I live in another village,I prefer to drive over to the great panda.service is fab & the food is the best,fantastic.never ever had a bad meal or takeaway from here.i have tried others but there is no comparison.👍

Ordered a chicken chow mein and asked for crispy noodles. When arrived the noodles weren’t crispy . I rang to speak to the restaurant and explain what I wanted and see if they could sort it as couldn’t eat this way. They told me the reason it was like that was the Tupperwares it had come in and they would sort it on my next order. After a few minutes on the phone saying that was unreasonable and that I couldn’t eat my tea and I had spent over £30 on our order they reluctantly agreed to send another in replace. Never in my life have I had to barter to get the food I actually ordered. I feel extremely let down and won’t be ordering again

Last night picked up a Happy Meal of sweet and sour cantonese pork. My son had a chicken dish only very slightly better.The pork was dreadful, very small bits and so hard we could not chew it. Container was two thirds rice.

My friend and I wanted a good eating experience prior to going to see 'Giselle' at the Opera House. The eats were good, very good. An excellent Special Chow Mein and a superb Beef with Mushroom in Black Bean Sauce. However, the rest of the experience was less than fine. First, the restaurant was cold - damn cold. We kept our coats on throughout. Second, the few other diners (a table of 5) and we were dealt with in a very brisk manner, verging on the off-hand. The staff's entire focus seemed to be on the huge and never ending queue for Take-Aways. The ever opening/closing door probably accounted for the cold restaurant. I also realised that the Take-Away menu was the most prominent on the internet and that almost all reviews covered the Take-Away aspect of the operation. So, Panda. Not really so 'Great' unless and until you address this apparent imbalance between the Eat-Ins and the Take-Aways.!

We arranged a take away for 9 people, the delivery service was fab, only down side was that they had no broccoli?

Really confused about the reviews here. We have NEVER had a bad meal, and the service is always quick and polite. It seems to thrive on takeaway orders - the phone rang constantly while we were there. They do collections and deliveries. You’d have to think that if it was as bad as other reviewers claim, they would have zero business. Agreed there is little atmosphere, but for our money that’s just fine. Just cook and serve good Chinese food at a good price. Job done. Thanks Great Panda - we’ll be back

Never have I been so disappointed with my takeaway. Don't get me wrong the fried rice was fine but when I came to open the bbq ribs, I had been greeted by maggots attached to the food. This is completely unacceptable and I have no idea how the heigene can be so bad. I will not be visiting this place again, a complaint has also been raised with the local food standards agency.

Placed a delivery order from here and wow never again. The order came suspiciously quick. The beef was very weird looking in a very disappointing sauce. The rice was glupey and lumpy. The spring rolls tasted like washing up liquid! Waste of time and money. Oh and I've noticed the sign outside the place Ia broken... looks bad
