The best restaurants serving Seafood food in South East

Special choi mein I have used for many years and the dish today was appalling like mush no meats nothing !!! NOT the first time Never again poor poor poor

Very expensive compared to other local chip shops and stuck in the 80s not talking card payments. We were unable to get what we wanted as we didn’t have enough cash on us

Had battered sausage and chips ... battered sausage was awful ... batter was soggy and tore off ... more squelchy than crunchy. Fella behind counter seemed surly like he had had a bad day. Not in a rush to go back to be fair. Shame used the place on and off for years. Will have to be desperate to want to go there again. Like I say shame as it was always good. Might have just been a bad day buy it was what it was on the day.

A little expensive but so delicious

Wanted to charge a mother of a gluten free child and additional £3.50 because he has Celiac disease and can't have gluten in his diet. calling it " the gluten free fee" charging £.1.50 per item! Making a kids meal which should be £8 cost £11.50! The high chair was sticky amd had ground in dirt. I left! Ordered nothing and vowed to never come back! I understand the need to charge a little more for free from food due to increased costs to source and provide these options safely but 3.50 ... For a kids meal that's not on!

God awful. Save your sanity and your bowels. They have no sense of taste or hygiene. The stories have heard about how they prep food is awful. Along with the terrible food, it’s nearly unaffordable itself

We had cod and chips on a weeknight. Ordered in their website for collection. They charged extra for ordering directly on their website compared to In the shop. Waited ages. The chips were pale and unappetising. The fish was disgusting. The batter has a strange flexible texture, not crispy. It had soaked up a serious amount of oil. It was orangey colour. Don't risk going. Head to one of the fish and chip shops on Uckfield high street.

Just had the worst meal from here. Normally go to the one on Monkston which I can’t fault but this one tonight was not good. Ordered a spring roll, battered sausage and chips. The spring roll was a long way from being a spring roll, there was no bean sprouts, full of sweetcorn and peas, and not much else, it was half the size of the ones I normally get, it was floppy and cold. The sausage was luke warm and full of grease, every bit coated my mouth in grease and very unpleasant. Chips Luke warm too. Won’t be going again

I can't fault this restaurant The fish is always cooked to perfection and the chips are how chips should be Lovely and crisp on the outside and lovely and white and fluffy on the inside The portions are enormous and the prices couldn't be more reasonable Also the staff are always helpful and polite We're so pleased that this restaurant is so near home for us all. Excellent fish and chip shop always ready to serve with the cherry face and smile and the fish is absolutely top class as are the chips and the sausages absolutely excellent fish and chip shop

This was horrible fish and chips. Large cod was just a few flakes in rotten greasy batter made with stale old oil. Don't ever get the sausage, it is truly disgusting. A cash only, yep, cash only shop that serves terrible rotten food. Avoid at all cost. Don't say, but I told you so.

So disappointed with our visit to Fish Shack yesterday!! Looking at previous reviews - albeit too late as I wouldn’t have bothered going- it seems a running theme of frozen, poorly cooked chips which in our case were only just about warm, pale fish that didn’t taste fresh inside, perhaps reheated, all for the princely sum of £27 ( with a glass of wine). I’d advise Lily and her crew to up their game and re-train the staff on both customer service to be less surly to the people who pay their wages, and also cooking ‘fresh’ fish and chips, else they’ll end up closing down. As other reviewers have said, I definitely won’t be returning!

Ordered 2 chicken & mushroom pies and 1 large chips. The chips were very hard and chewy - couldn't bite through them, some were undercooked in the middle. They tasted horrible, either re-cooked or cooked in old oil. The pies were extremely hard on top - couldn't bite through the pastry and soggy on the bottom. Will not be returning. No wonder there wasn't anyone else in the shop, it used to be so good and always busy when previous owners were there.

Refund the chips was Cold I ordad large chips came in small ! Really really not happy everything was cold and hard :(

Chicken shish was dry and burnt, battered sausages had no batter at all on them, gravy was very watery, everything was cold they got the 1 rating as chilli sauce was nice and the size of the chips were very big
