Fish Plaice in Crawley

Very expensive compared to other local chip shops and stuck in the 80s not talking card payments. We were unable to get what we wanted as we didn’t have enough cash on us

Unfriendly counter staff no warm welcome... chips were soggy and greasy. Sorry but we won't be back

How hard is it to listen to what I want? Then after the fact, making out I never asked for what I ASKED for. I mean, if they wanted me to go somewhere else they could have just said. I will be going somewhere else in future!

Just moved in the area and went to this shop to order a takeaway for the family. Only suggested something that I thought is fair and I got a straight answer: “If you don’t like it go away”. The rude english girl at the till is probably doing whatever she wants as I don’t think any other person from staff understands as no one reacted. My advice, DO NOT GO THERE

We are new to the area so thought we’d check out the local fish n chip shop and was not disappointed. Good size portion of chips, large saveloys and a good curry sauce. Happy to have this as our local!

Decided on having cod with chips and my wife chose rock salmon and chips. Both the fish dishes were excellent, especially the rock. However the chips left a lot to be desired, although ample, they tasted as though they'd been sitting in the warming tray a while. Will continue to use this reliable establishment but hope for better quality chips in the future.

Had a delivery live half a mile from the shop,quicker than expected.portion to big for a pensioner delivery charge over the top for the distance

Just had great fish and chips from the Fish Plaice in Tilgate. Well done for that and for being open during the Coronavirus lockdown.

Just had a takeaway. Used many times before, rock had more batter than fish and chicken shish had no sauce crap salad and flavourless. Shame prices have risen and standards lowered.

This is the only fish shop I visit and have never had a bad meal here. The portions are generous and the fish is always fresh. There is a wide selection of other options and children's meal are provided.

After running late we decided to just get fish & chips. The take away was fantastic & the fish was the best we’ve had from a chippie. we will be back

Normally trust it here but drove all the way home today to find we’d been given one portion of chips between three of us. The girls normally shout out your order but this wasn’t done either today so not sure if it’s a new person. Not worth me driving all the way back when we live in Broadfield and it’s rush hour.

Good quality fish and chips Prices constant with locality, good selection on the menu. I will definitely revisit

I really like this place. They make the best fish and chips so far in this area. I tried many places, but this one always offer fresh and good quality food. Staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. I keep going back there and for the price you will get a huge meal and you won’t stay hungry for sure. Highly recommended! 😋

Stopped in after a trip to the cinema. We have been here before and had very reasonable fish and chips.The young lady who served us was very friendly and joined in a joke between myself and my girlfriend. Sadly the large Cod and Chips this time didn't live up to expectations. The batter on the fish was chewy, rather than crispy and the chips went cold very quickly.

WOW never had a delivery so fast and hot! Food arrived in record time and was exactly as I expected ... home comfort food and very tasty Will definitely order again when in London

We decided to have fish & chips last night and choose Fish Plaice as we had had a great takeaway from here before. The fish was fantastic and cooked fresh. The portion size was very good and we will be back again.

Felt service not quite so good, seemed to have new people on front desk but the quality and chef are still the same here. Would recommend, located on Tilgate Parade, only takes cash but cash machine locally.

Recently went to buy two hamburgers and chips. The staff handle money and food at the same time! The person who seems to be in charge - David - is very rude. I will never go back here again.

Despite other reviewer's comments I have not had issues with wait times after ordering in person, whats more the quality is good still too.

The food here is as good as ever but now that they do orders through Just Eat they pay little or no attention to their customers who walk in through the door. I will definitely never walk through their door again.

We have tried all the rest in Crawley, but this is definitely the best! The fish is very fresh and great portion size.

Excellent quality and size of portions haddock consistently good, scampi go for a large portion and this will do for two people and chip portion of large is really good size too. Curry sauce is good tasty.

Excellent haddock always a large portion and I did not order the xlarge which is on offer. Also had excellent chips again portions are a big size.

We have had fish and chips from here several times and always has been very tasty. The last time we ordered it was quite greasy but I think this is due to delivery and how it was shipped. Overall wonderful food.

Yes I know when the order is not quite right when you get home that can be a real pain. Quality was still good for the Haddock and Rock fish as well as the chips.So found myself back for a second time that evening but item replaced and with a complimentary drink too.

Tried elsewhere and still think this is the best fish and chip shop in Crawley. Excellent Rock and Haddock this evening all freshly cooked.

This one and furnace greens are great, only place we go for fish and chips. Food is cooked perfectly and prices are just right very happy with service every time will be back again and again and recommend whenever I'm asked the best place to go

Great place for fish and chips, with plenty of other things to choose from. The best choice for me is the cod, and it's great that you can ask for it skinless.

This is cracking little fish and chip shop, very traditional, does very large portions of fish, really friendly staff too, it's a cash only place but there is a cash machine just at the Post Office and C0-op further down the parade.A good off licence if you fancy a beer with the meal.

Incredibly soggy batter, fish was average , but chips were a soggy mass.Generous portion but most ended up in the bin as it was just too unpleasant to eat.Shame, as had been better in the past.

We have been coming to this chippy for a while now, and have moved from our traditional one at Pound Hill which is mentioned a number of times in various reviews and has won the odd award too.Fish Plaice is better we find, shorter queues, fish cooked freshly in 10 mins, whereas we have waited up to 30 mins plus as the queues in Pound Hill are longer so you queue to order and then wait.Staff are regulars and not teenagers just passing through.
