Newly opened this season, perfect fish and chips, plenty of room. Friendly staff.

Clean and tidy resturant, staff were very friendly and welcoming. Fish and chips was excellent, flavoursome fish with light crispy batter, chips were the best we've tasted in a while. Public car park to the rear. Doesn't look that welcoming from the front, but well worth a visit.

This seem to be a common acurence in ordering food and having the order messed up again when I got home to find no sausage and chips in the order had 4 fish and chips yet 5 people eatting. Should have stuck to Marino’s at least you get what you pay for and they can cope with orders and get them right! Really not happy.

Great fish and chips! We both had the medium cod and chips with curry sauce. The cod was just a little bit dry and the chips would have been even better had they been more crispy. Otherwise, a lovely meal! 🙂

Had a club motorcycle ride to Rye loved the chippy and Rye wasn't bad either

Had cod and chips and chicken and chips from day 1 of these people taking over was fair better than old owners from day 1. Well 3 months later they got it perfect I would say and I am a fussy eater, The Food here is the best in Rye by a mile it's good value for money as a family purchase and we all enjoy eating 😋

Very efficient ordering system and quick delivery. Ordered on a Monday evening and food arrived within half an hour, in nice cardboard boxes. Hot and delicious! Very happy with the service and will order again. Thank you.

2nd time of ordering for me and my partner, our first order was excellent but this time the order arrived 15 minutes late, after we had call to find out where it was. Very disappointed with the customer service, unfriendly and told to wait another 10 minutes so this means my order was never processed! the large chips were barely enough for one person and undercooked. The fish was okay but overall a very disappointing meal and service. We won't be ordering again.

Everything was amazing ,i ordered a large cod and chips and the portion was very big the service was amazing and the server was fantastic with my 7 year old cousin and kept him entertained. I will definitely come back here food was a 10/10!

Just had 4x cod and chips to take away, all in a nice cardboard box (recyclable) £11/portion. Nice and hot, good long chips with little to no tiny bits, and the fish was freshly cooked right there and then. Ate to lot so definitely a recommendation 👍

Ordered a large cod and chips. Plus saveloy and mushy peas. Came to £20. Overall ok. Fish was good. Chips ok. Amount of chips was small for a large. Overall average but little pricey for amount.

AWFUL! we’ve just had a take away order of chips, battered sausage & fried chicken. Absolutely awful. The chips were bland, uncooked and mushy. Not crispy in the slightest. Wasn’t busy when we went in and they even forgot a portion of our chips. Everything looked a beige colour like it had hardly been cooked. The chicken was dry and overcooked, the sausage batter had no flavour and everything felt like it had been sat there under a heat lamp. First time back at this shop since being taken over and will not return again. My scampi was definitely not cooked and was slimey. What a waste of money!!! The best part of the whole ordeal was the pickle gherkins from a shop bought jar. UPDATE * me and my partner were both ill that evening/ following day, I showed the pictures of the scampi I had to a friend and we agreed it wasn’t cooked properly!!’

Took my 89 yr old parents here. We all had cod and chips. Which was fresh and the best we'd ever had.

AVOID!! Shocking! Waited 30 + minutes for 3 Portions of chips, ignored me upon arrival, Chips not cooked finally when received!!

Visited because Marinos was closed at 8pm on Sunday. I pre-ordered online and that was fine. Good service when I arrived to collect. Parking is limited as car park behind is 24hr pay and display according to the signage. Unlike others I didn't park outside on double yellows on a roundabout so had to walk back to the shop from parking down the road. I had a large cod, a haddock (not very large) and large chips but was dissapointed by all. The chips were anaemic but not greasy and both portions of fish very dry, which seeing they were cooked to order should be fixable. I will continue to use Marinos.

Absolutely fantastic little gem, definitely worth a visit when in Rye. Fish & Chips are cooked to perfection, 10000% fresh, the batter is perfect,not too much batter over the fish. Childrens menu is extremely good for the kids. The service is given with a smile, lovely staff all round.

Waitress was lovely! Chips was great would have been good to have more than 5 tho 😂 the Children’s meal had more than us adults! £3 for a can of coke felt like someone robbed me! Honestly waitress was so lovely tho very good with the children they loved her!

Reading the reviews about how good the chips are I can only assume they MUST have been done by family & friends 🤣 either that or they've got free food for a "good" review. They are the worst chips we have ever had from ANYWHERE. Dry, hard and taste vile. 🤢 threw the whole lot! Drove from Maidstone for this 🤣disappointed!

We found a table straight away. The waitress was very nice and came over to us shortly after we sat at the table. We had cod and chips for tea. It had a nice crispy batter and good size fish. The chips were proper potatoes, not frozen ones. The price is a little bit high, but it was worth it. The food didn't smell of old oil, which in some places does. Possibly it was the time that we went to eat, but the restaurant had hardly anyone in it, but when we left, the take away part of the business had quite a few people ordering food.

The food was okay. The portions here were very small! My daughter had a kids nuggets and chips, which contained 4 nuggets and around 10 chips! My son had a kids sausage and chips and had around 15 chips maximum it was extremely disappointing. We also ordered both a small and large portion of chips, which were extremely small in size. The battered sausage was not nice and actually got fed to the seagulls. The batter was soggy and very mushy was not worth paying £2.90 for. The staff were friendly and the food was hot so maybe we just caught them on a bad day.

Didn’t realise it had been taken over by someone else, £13.28 for a large chips battered sausage & curry sauce with a can of coke, rather expensive to make it worse I didn’t even get the battered sausage :/ wasn’t busy at the time, least remember the order if your going to charge a bomb for it !

We had the most delicious fish and chip supper last night from The Strand. 5 very happy diners enjoyed cod, haddock, chips, mushy peas and pickled onions. The flavour was amazing and the batter was crisp, just as it should be. Thank you so much. We would highly recommend giving this 'new' chippy a visit.

My mum loves fish and chips...been quite disappointed in Rye of late, but not anymore! Absolutely delicious. The website is super easy to negotiate too...at last home delivery of tasty fish and chips!!

Since it changed hands this Fish Shop is our go to for Fish n Chips. Clean oil, light crispy batter, fresh Haddock, well done chips and super tasty. And all with great service, love it.

So pleased to have a decent local fish and chip shop. I will be returning

Great, now it's under new management. We had cod, chips, 1/4 pounder burger with cheese and onion rings. The food was top-notch, the best from here in a long, long time. We recommend trying this place out now, new people have it.

We ordered fish and chips to be delivered. We are so happy that the place has new owners. The cod was really good and cooked as it should be. The chips were also good. I always thought that you couldn't go wrong with fish and chips but the last people managed to really get it wrong! We will get stuff from here again.

First time visitor. Staff super friendly, fish was cooked whilst I waited. Good sized portions and a very good price. The complimentary Turkish delight was a stroke of welcoming genius. I wish you every success

Claims to be open on wednesday yet last week we waited near the shop for half an hour past opening time then noticed the sign saying 'open Friday Saturday and sunday' if that's the case update your times online since that says your good for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday!

Waited 55 mins for a portion of chips after being told it's only a few minutes wait. We had to be somewhere so when we asked them to refund us as we had to leave we were told no ! We left no chips and no refund ! Appauling !

Customer service was not in existence as the member of staff was so desperate for the cigarette that he was rolling behind the counter. Totally ignoring the request of his colleague to check the chips in the fryer, followed by her comment "I'll do it myself as you're so desperate for a cigarette" If staff are happy rolling cigarettes behind the counter infront of Customers what do they do behind the scenes. I won't be going back!

Went tonight and ordered a basic Cod and Chips…surely nothing can go wrong…it’s a fish and chip shop. Just moved to the area and currently having to eat out due to having a new kitchen installed, and thought fish and chips would be nice. Well I was wrong!! The chips tasted like they have been cooked in old oil and you could even see the small black specks to know it’s old. I had a few chips in my portion that the potato was clearly mushy and brown inside from some past its date potatoes. Now for the fish…it was full of bones…if care and attention were as taken, then there shouldn’t be that many…a couple is fine, but this was beyond acceptable if your paying £7 just for the medium fish. The batter was soggy and too thick and to be honest, it’s really not that hard to make. I have made thousands of fish and chips in my past as a chef and it is one of the most simple to do dishes that shouldn’t be hard to execute! One last thing, the shop looked very run down and dirty, sort of regret not stopping my order when I sat there waiting for my food as clearly this was showing off what was to come. I definitely won’t be returning unless there was a complete overhaul.

Cold fish Chips weren't cooked Overpriced

Waited 25 minutes for a " large" portion of chips, so slow, unorganised and unprofessional. Older chap must be in his 70's who just can't cope, extremely rude to customers. My large portion of chips was the same quantity as the medium, and yet cost £4.50. Chips were hard, flavourless, and cooked in dirty oil. Awful, rude service, overpriced sub standard food. Avoid at all costs!

Dreadful. Full of bones. Chewy greasy chips. Ordered the large cod but nothing big about it. £26 for two disgusting and dry cod and chips. Can’t leave less than 1 star. Never again!!

Oil needs changing! Chips tasted funny and found hard black bits of old food amongst them...thought it was coal, obviously been in the oil far longer than it should of been!!

Whilst out needed to get a small snack to eat as my blood sugar levels dropped… ordered a kids nuggets and chips… the kind lady took my order ok all fine, the old dude however when serving me said I’m not a kid and if he had known would not have served me 😂 I just wanted a small portion not a mega one, anyway, chips were ok and nuggets were ok. Definitely going back next time to order a kids meal again 😂

Best chips in a long time. My friend and her daughter brought me some back today to the car whilst we was out in rye and they was great. Apparently they said the service was the friendliest and kindest. They said they Will definitely being going back if in rye again and I totally agree thank you !!

Best fish and chip shop in the country, the fish is an arc de triumph. Joseph the head chef is a master cook. Really good prices reflects the level of food. Highly recommend, would give 50 stars but only lets me leave 5.

Best fish and chips about. Would recommend this place to anyone. Fish was crisp and well cooked through. The chips were to die for. The service was friendly and seeing as they were packed at the time, very quick too. What a wonderful family run business. 12/10.

Very disappointed, have used this chip shop in the past…. But today I have to say the cod was like a piece of rubber, I. had my suspicions when I was given two pieces, I threw both in the bin…. Won’t ever go.back! Be warned.

Terrible quality chippy that makes it’s annual revenue on a few sunny weekends when the beaches fill up. Cod was flavourless, chips were old and soggy, mushy peas had no flavour - all for an inflation-busting £14. Nice to see the owner’s gleaming Mercedes parked out front though. No love for food - just an industrial deep-frying cash machine.

Worst bit of fish I've ever had, really tough and dry, maybe an old bit from yesterday or the day before found its way back in the warmer. It really was like chewing a leather soul. My friend ordered at the same time and said his was okay. Cost me over £11.50 for a small portion of chips. Even the seagulls couldn't pull it apart. Never again.

Went in one Wednesday evening obviously they were understaffed but no one had a clue what they were doing. Service was slow and food had stood under the lights so long they were cold, greasy and stodgy. Never again will I waste money like that again. Go elsewhere

The restaurant is closed now just takeaway. According to the chap behind the counter a week or two and they reopen. Prices are still reasonable. Food is tasty and fresh. Be aware he is generous with the salt 😉

Used to be amazing here, gone down hill over the years though!! Also don't believe the opening times on google! A few times now in half term times we've attempted to go to this place and its been shut before 7pm!! Even the door said open and all light was off! Update your times so people know not to waste time and money! Not a happy customer to say the least

Had 3 cheeseburgers and chips yesterday. Worst we've ever had. Burgers were forgot in the deep fryer. After the boy realised and said a few choice words to himself they were fished out and placed in the buns. The chips were a mix of soggy hard and bruised. Needless to say as it was a sunday pm we ended up eating crisps and chocolate. Also to have to add the place wasn't clean there was mould and grime on the counter. If your sat waiting you start to see all the hidden extras.. such a shame

Do not bother. Do not park in their supposedly free parking bays either as you will be fined.

DISGUSTING, GREASY, SLOW, EXPENSIVE !! Worst fish and chips I have had the misfortune to eat. Greasy beyond belief. Unbelievably slow. Very expensive. Looked good with a queue of people outside, but that was because they have no competition. Waited for about 30 minutes just to order, then another 25 minutes to get the food. I wish I had driven further afield and gone to Hastings instead. The fish was dripping in fat, the chips were hard. My wife was ill after eating it and spent the night with stomach cramps. To add insult to illness, they charge way over the top for small portions. £3.50 for a 'large' chips......basically a few chips in a tray. £7.50 for a 'large' Haddock......any other chippy would have classed these as small, not even medium Haddock. £1.20 for a roll.....that's ridiculous. Save your time, money and health and go elsewhere.

Very poor. Chips tasted nasty, think the oil needed changing, soggy onion rings, overpriced and they hit the bin!! Pleasant service, but slow. Such a shame, this used to be the best place in town for fish and chips. We will not be going back any time soon.

Not the best chips to be honest, picture says it all. Small portions served in a polystyrene tray which isn't recycled, why not just serve them in a paper cone? Won't be coming here again.

Chips are OK, not the best but not bad

I ordered plaice from this place but when it was delivered the driver said it was cod. I rang the shop to tell them of my incorrect order only to be told the order was correct and the driver merely wanted paying. COD was cash on delivery. Imagine my embarrassment.

Last bank holiday Monday. We went to visit fishing village Rye. We were a group of 7, 3 were young children. So we really wanted fish and chips.We did go to other restaurants but it was all booked up. We came by this takeaway which was next to our cars. On entering it was being looked after by teenagers. We each ordered cod and chips. As their restaurant was closed for seating we crossed over the road and sat at a bench to eat. My son who is 7 started taking bites into his cod and we saw scattered bits of bright blue melted plastic under the batter??? I was so mad I didn't think to take a picture but i went straight back to the takeaway and shown them the bits of blue plastic found in my son's fish! They apologised but giggled!! At their age what customer service are they to know what todo in these situations!! Why were they left unattended??. How was there blue pladtic under the batter?? Luckily it wasn't the younger children and no one choked on it. I demanded that they cooked me a fresh one. We will obviously never go back there again.

Under no circumstances try the calamari. Theres a chandlers along the quay that sells rubber O rings, you'd be better off chewing your way through a bag of those. Chips are dissapointing to average. Staff are cheerful and always look clean which is the only redeeming feature. Real shame considering the towns fishing heritage
