At last a chippy that does quality savaloys. Firm, nice crack as you bite in with a good flavour. Chips were very good too... most savs now are squashy, pale and tasteless. A good find.

Cold winter January night- 6.40pm. Ordered battered sausage and chips- chips looked as if they had been cooked several times, and were unfortunately not able to be eaten as they were so hard. A fish and chip shop which is a usual go to every summer were at camber we would never now go back. Very disappointing!

Not fantastic, nice tasting chips, but quite a small amount for a large portion! Cod was cooked fresh but the batter was soggy and was quite bland...

The cod and chips were excellent, the service was good but we found the seating in the back eating area very uncomfortable. They have maximised the number of covers without any thought to the comfort of the diners. If the front eating area is full, as it was when we came by yesterday, then we will order a takeaway or go somewhere else.

Needed a hot meal on a freezing visit to Rye. Thank god we chose Marion’s. Beautifully cooked fish and chips with that freshly-cooked look and taste. Servers could not have been nicer despite being rushed off their feet. Fantastic and really added to a perfect trip to Rye and Camber. Can’t wait to go back.

Seriously, the most delicious fish and chips I have ever had! You can't beat a good old fashioned chipper! A must visit restaurant when you're in Rye!

We had planned to do take away but we realised that they take dogs in the restaurant section so we ate in (with our 2 dogs) Excellent service We had the haddock meal, chips, mushy peas and bread and butter Fish and the chips were excellent but too large for me ! Central location in Rye 4 stars for atmosphere as it was nice and quiet in the back

Visited on bonfire night so it was absolutely packed. We guessed this so had phoned ahead and booked a table. The lady who served us in the restaurant side was rushed off her feet but did a great job. Food seemed super fresh and was well cooked - not greasy at all. Will definitely be back.

Really traditionnal fish and chips in a beautiful Rye old school charming houses! Fish and chips was good, sitting next to the window and look at people passy by the cobblestone street was really peaceful! I recommend!

First ever time visiting this fine establishment steeped in history! Greeted with kind and welcoming staff who clearly appreciate your custom. The chips are the best in the UK yes thats right the very best. I think they may of been freshly double fried!! The fish was a very generous size and full of flakes and had a delicious crispy batter! I would move to Rye simply to be able to have this fine food on Fridays! I couldn’t possibly recommend enough! Should have six stars!!!! Delicious and thank you again!

A cute and cosy restaurant with friendly staff. The main reason for going to Marino's was of course, the food. We had the plaice meal (which included chips). The batter was crispy and light and the plaice was soft and delicate. The chips were first blanched, then double-cooked, so were crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Take a big appetite with you as the fish is the size of a small whale! Gorgeous! We'll definitely go again!

Ordered fish & chip takeaway for a Sat night - got home and was disgusted to see the difference in size of the fish. We ordered 2 medium cods, but quite frankly, one piece looked like a sausage in batter. This is not the first time we have seen this, but thought it was a one-off, but to get the same again, I feel I had to write a review. Marinos are not as good as they were years ago, even the chips are not as good or plentiful anymore. Won't be back.

We ordered small chips for our group and they were amazing but the service let it down. We ordered and got our food, realised there was seating at the back but they said we would have to re-buy our food at a different price because both the menu and pricing was different for seating. One of our party was on crutches which was why we wanted to sit but we were refused.

I found this place a little strange. The food was good but we decided to sit in and this is where it's strange. There is a bit out the back to sit and eat but is very cramped. The tables/booths are layout for 4 but it's a very tight 4. It felt like a seating area drinks would go after being at the pub/club and having fish and chips after. That said I would still come here for the fish and chips but get a takeaway and eat them else where.

We've been here a couple of times and have enjoyed it. Freshly cooked and the best chips in the area. Friendly staff.

A very disappointing meal in what we have previously found to be an excellent restaurant . Whilst the cod I ordered was really good, my wife’s skate was hardly edible. The fish, what there was of it, looked old and dry, as if it had been left out of the fridge too long, and the batter was very dark. It had either been cooked for too long or reheated. Very disappointing. The chips however were quite good.

It's a fish & chip shop, not a sit-down place, does fish cooked to order, a selection of pies, all the usual stuff. Staff friendly, helpful & with a sense of humour!

I visited Marinos because I had read a puff piece online. I should have known better. It was awful. I paid £4.90 for onion rings that literally came out of the freezer from Iceland or Lidl. The cod was very greasy and I sent the mushy peas back because it was cold. When they brought it back it was still cold, not even warm. The chips were average and don't get me started on the curry sauce. It was like Chinese chicken and sweetcorn soup. It was so runny. To top it all it cost over £40 for two of us for that rubbish. Would I recommend Marinos? Absolutely not!

Went to cambersands beach and fancied some proper fish and chips.. found this place on google and was skeptical about the bad chips mixed reviews.. i had to leave a review to redeem the chips! Honestly the best fish and chips ive had in a while. Theres parking 2mins walk away which is like £1.30 an hour or off street parking. Theyre dog friendly and have seating areas inside. The lady who served us was friendly and lovely.. customer service was 10/10. The fact that there was a queue outside for takeaway showed how good this place is from the get go. My vegetarian sis loved the battered mushrooms. My mum whos an aggressive hangry person loved the cod so much.. Defo recommend!

Get your fish and chips fix here! The fish was really juicy and big and everything tasted fresh but could be a bit greasier than some. If you're not super hungry, go for the medium. We got a large to share and it was bigger than we expected. The restaurant is typically busy with a queue but they're very fast and friendly.

Wow! Have not had proper chippy Chips in years and these were EXCELLENT!! Such a trip down memory lane! We took a takeaway home in the car and they were still roasting hot when we sat down to eat. Fish excellent and crispy. Was busy and deservedly so! Fresh, clean and delicious treat. Would come back to Rye just for Marinos! Go, you will not be disappointed! Wishing them continued success

Great Fish N Chips. The large cod was enormous. Lovely crisp batter and chips were perfectly thick and crisp. Sit-in prices seem only fractionally higher than take away, and seemed to me to be very reasonable. Dog-friendly

Popped in on a Saturday at 2.00pm. Wasn't too busy. Food was good ole standard fish and chips. Ordered a medium and was more than happy with the portion size. The fish was fresh, and the chips just fried, so there were no complaints there.

Really lovely, fresh food. They were a little unsure about letting our large dog in because he was a bit overexcited while he was waiting for me to enquire about a garden table. However the staff were really lovely and brought Bailey fresh water and gave us a quiet table in the garden. Bailey also loved the chips...and was well behaved!

Unfortunately we were a bit late to make use of the seating area inside, (it shuts at 19:30), but the lovely gentlemen behind the counter directed us to Gun Gardens to eat our take away. The fish was delicious, and my nephew wolfed down his fish cake 😋 Highly recommended 👍

Delicious fish and chips, excellent service - you’re the best guys!

We visited at lunchtime on Wednesday 7th August 2024. We don’t live in Rye, otherwise I would be visiting Marino’s Fish and Chip restaurant regularly! Every time that we have visited we have NEVER been disappointed! We were seated quickly. I ordered the medium fish and chips. It was absolutely exquisite! The fish was beautifully fresh, with crispy batter. I have not tasted chips like these for many years. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The portion sizes were generous. I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff are very friendly, the restaurant was lovely and clean, and has a very nice ambience. Thank you again. 10/10.

I recently visited Marino's Fish and Chips in Rye and, unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. I ordered a medium cod, but what arrived was the tiniest piece of fish I have ever seen. To give you an idea of how small it was, I took a photo with a mayo pouch next to it for comparison. Honestly, it looked more like a kid's or even a half portion. In the North East or even London, a medium cod would be 3 times this size. The quality of the food itself was good - the batter was crispy and the fish, although minuscule, was fresh and tasty. However, the portion size was extremely disappointing.

Even though it doesn't look like it, you can walk through and there are tables there. Fish and chips were great.

I have never been into a restaurant or any public toilet where a sanitary bin hasn’t been available. I walked in to find a sanitary pad on the floor next to the ordinary bin! This is a huge health and safety concern, biohazards should always have a separate bin with an enclosed lid. I have never written a negative review before and debated doing so but I am writing this in hopes the manager at Marinos will do something about this before health & safety do.

Very expensive for medium fish and chips

Great cuisine, great service great atmosphere

Went in for a fish and chip meal early evening to eat in.We were promptly provided with a table and our order was taken so that we didn’t have to wait long. When the food arrived my husband asked for brown sauce but was told there was none and hadn’t been for weeks. We commenced eating and found that the chips were very scrappy so we left half of them. I called over the person who had taken our order and showed him but he didn’t show much interest. The fish was okay but overall we did not enjoy the experience.

Visited here today, Sunday for afternoon meal. My wife ordered a salad, that was ok, I ordered Large Cod and Chips Fish was ok but the chips were absolutely awful Mostly burnt bits, and the few larger chips were very oily. And a very small portion of chips. Years ok always “new potatoes” were the excuse but now other chip shops serve good chips all times. Recommend you avoid this Fish & Chips shop.

Great friendly staff, and great fish and chips.

Very nice fish and chips! It was busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon and the waiter seemed very rushed, but did a great job and we had our food in about ten minutes. Also sells beer and wine. Only small area to improve was the size of the medium cod - as you can see it's pretty tiny. I'm only mentioning it as I saw someone else's medium cod go past which was twice the size, so think I was just unlucky. It was only £1.50 more for the (huge) large cod so I'll do that next time! Medium cod and chips was £12.50.

Whilst all the food is quickly prepared, hot and tasty, the portions are pretty small. A medium cod & chips from my local chippy is easily enough for two, but the equivalent here is a goldfish with a handful of chips. For the price you don't get a lot.

Staff are really friendly! We ordered medium cod and chips which was a big portion of chips but the cod was a bit on the smaller side for it being medium. Curry sauce wasn’t good at all, very watery but nice flavours. The interior was a little old, but still nice. With the rest of the area being so cute and retro I was expecting the interior of the place to be a little better. But it was comfortable and had surprisingly loads of seating! Overall I’d go back, but I wouldn’t order the curry sauce again.

My boyfriend and I both had the haddock and chips and now we have food poisoning.

We ordered a medium cod and it was huge. It tasted lovely too The only problem we found was that we sat underneath the air conditioning unit and it looked dirty and there was a big cob web hanging down that touched us when we sat down.

Really tasty food, I think quite expensive though (three SMALL cod and chips plus an extra chips cost over £30?!). Good to try but will probably find somewhere cheaper next time.

I took my elderly mum there yesterday for lunch. It’s obviously really popular with the kids from the school, all very happy with their bags of chips - we were more than happy with everything about it. They had a Seniors deal, which meant mum had exactly what she wanted, exactly the same size piece of cod as me, with fewer chips, and bread & butter, not needed. I had way too many chips, but they’re wonderful, just the way chips should be, and the fish was perfect, in a light crisp batter. It was busy, but the waitress found time to check with people that they had everything they needed - she was lovely, really friendly and happy. The menu is actually on the place mat, along with activities, puzzles for kids - what a brilliant idea for efficient table service in a space-limited area. All in all, a really good meal, lovely lunchtime - we’ll be going there again.

Hadn't been here in years as I don't live locally any more. Absolutely loved my haddock and chips, proper south Eastern massive portion, that I was determined to eat because it was so good. The battery was delicious, haddock flacked as it should and chips were delicious. My kids were happy with theirs. I went in with my two kids, was welcomed and staff were attentive. I only marked down because restaurant area was small and we were rushed a little at end due to people wanting to come in. There were a table that had been there longer and eaten and possibly I was rushed a little more than them because I was just one adult? Who knows. That said everyone wad pleasant and when I pop home, I will make it the place to go to get decent chips!

The fish and chips were classic, but nothing spectacular. The meat pie was ok. They were very generous with their chips! The service was great.

Marino's food used to be fabulous... however, seemingly no longer! We have been dozens of times over the years, and was the family's favourite. On the recent visit, the chips were crispy and delicious but the batter on the cod was pale, soft, and porridge-like on the underside. The piece of cod itself was ok but not great. The side orders of onion rings were underwhelming and, at 80p each for what were the frozen, cheap kind, it was disappointing. The staff were friendly but, at £20+ per person for fish, chips and a soft drink, this isn't much of a consolation.

We ordered on-line and the food was ready very promptly. Everyone enjoyed it. The only disadvantage is that you can't stop outside although we did manage to stop just up the road.

A giant slab of crispy haddock nestled in a great heap of thick cut fries. Enough food for a small hungry village. Service a little slow because of so many customers, otherwise an excellent meal.

Delicious and fresh fish and chips. Huge portions and the staff are super nice. Definitely worth a visit when in the area.

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time

Pre-ordered and paid online - got back to holiday accommodation and they’d forgotten to include half of order. Chips were greasy and undercooked. Would not recommend.

My review is for the takeaway and not the restaurant.We decided we would have fish and chips and 2 cartons of mushy peas take home as we were both starving and it was getting too late for me to start cooking .we live a 5 minute drive away,but by the time we got home the fish and chips were just Luke warm and the peas were cold . We have only been here twice, the first time they charged us £5 too much and had to ring and go back to collect our money and now a cold meal,that came to over £22.00 . We won’t be going back unfortunately.Marinos is supposed to be in the top ten of f&c shops/ restaurants in East Sussex.

Absolutely delicious. Came from London down to Camber Sands for a few days with the family. Popped over to Rye and saw this fish bar. Got a good vibe and saw the prices were very fair. Had to wait a bit as they were quite busy in their seating area as far as I could tell. But the wait was worth it! Staff were very friendly but the food was great. Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Fresh fish, tasty batter and crisp chips! Made a short break even better!

I have been to this chippy with a group of around 20 German students on a field trip. The service was very kind and took their time with the kids and their inexperienced orders. The owner was very friendly and the food was very tasty. The medium size haddock will fill a grown man until evening. All in all a great experience and I will definitely come back on our next trip.

First time for maybe five years (long story) and Marino's remains the best chippy I've ever found. It does the simple things outstandingly, and that's all you really need. Prompt and cheery service, excellent food.

Worth a visit. Staff were friendly I ordered scallops and chips which were expensive and not especially tast I wished i had ordered the cod or the plaice. I will try again.
