I have been coming here for a very long time... the food is always delicious and very tasy. Service is always top 💯

I've always liked black cat and I love what the new owners have done with the place. I will say that some of the food is nice but not as good as it used to be, for example the breakfast scrambled tofu is a little bit too mustardy. It would be cool if we could have some of the previous classics too, is it possible to purchase the recipes from the previous owners? The service and atmosphere is excellent though, wouldn't mind seeing it keep its political 'edge' too tho. Defo gonna keep coming but wanted to add some notes. This is a really nice cafe to sit at for a while and enjoy some food and drink.

Food was excellent, good wide choice of options including kids menu. Great service. We haven’t been in years, but we’ll be back soon for sure… next time we’ll have to leave space for the rum cake!

Faith in humanity restored! Vegetarian/vegan or not, the food is genuinely outstanding! My boyfriend and I both had the gnocchi which was recommended to us, honestly one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The staff are so caring and friendly and make you feel so welcome and comfortable. The beautiful loft setting filled with plants and pretty lights makes for a memorable evening. This is quickly becoming our favourite place to eat!

We booked this for our last night in the Lake District,it’s a little of the beaten track but well worth the drive. Lovely decor and ambiance and the majority of the service was friendly and welcoming. We ordered a couple of starters and enjoyed the salmon maki so much we ended up having another portion. Mains of prawns, sea bass, ox cheek with sides of rice and pak Choi were delicious ( although became a little cold being in normal dishes). A 10% service charge added to the food ( not on the drinks) was very reasonable for the overall experience. We would definitely recommend and if we are in the area again would definitely revisit.
