Refurb looks okay, the restaurant has lost its soul in the process. The food menu has shrunk in size. The curry goat doesn't come with rice. It all had to be bought seperate. Meal for 2 adults and 1 child came to nearly £80.

Great place to eat and socialise. Booked for 2hr slot, we were moved to comfy seating over back and stayed alot longer. Birthday cake was allowed, celebrations continued throughout the evening. Highly recommend this lovely place.

We came here for a bottomless brunch. It took just over an hour to receive our food. It had been ready for about 15 minutes as we saw our food sat under the heat lamp for 15 minutes. It took about 30 minutes to receive our first drink. They extended our table for abit longer to get more drinks but took an extra amount of time to yet again receive another drink. We had a total of 4 drinks in the 2+ hours we were there. We were promised another drink half way through our second. They never came to take our next order. We noticed other tables were getting served quicker than us. We also asked for a jug of water to start with. We never received it. It’s a big let down considering it used to be good. The food was also luke warm. Had to remove the service charge as it was absolutely disappointing.

Had bottomless brunch, definitely got our moneys worth. Jaz was an awesome waitress. Definitely would recommend. 👍

We were a group of 4 and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We had a couple of drinks, and 4 small plates (chilli squid, croquettes, king Prawns and hummus) for starters then for mains (curry goat, jerk chicken breasts and chickpea bun). Everyone really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was so lovely with the service being fabulous as well, with regular check ins after each meal but did not interrupt during the meals which was great!!

Shania was our server and she made us feel very welcome. Lovely Caribbean curries.

We used to love Turtle Bay. Loved visiting for the food and cocktails. Used to be one of the best places in Chelmsford. Visited recently, lots of the amazing cocktails have been taken off the menu and the food menu has also been cut. Now it is just like a standard restaurant. Nothing special anymore. Very disappointed with the changes.

We have visited a few Turtle Bay restaurants over the years, Romford, Derby & Southampton but were very disappointed when we visited Turtle Bay in Chelmsford yesterday. Their menu has changed, so my husband and I ordered Curry Goat, Rice & Peas, Sweet Potatoe Fries and Chicken Wings. The food was not as fresh as it normally is, the rice seemed like it was cooked several days before, stored and reheated up in a microwave. I personally did not have the chicken wings, but my husband eat the wings which he said did not taste quite right but eat it anyway. This morning my husband has a severe spell of diarrhoea as a result of the wings he eat which is the only food I did not eat. It is a shame as we liked Turtle Bay. We shall not be returning.

Just visited Turtle Bay in Chelmsford after hearing it had a refurb. The place looks great – fresh, colourful vibe, comfy seating, and nicely styled tables. Staff were friendly and helpful too. But the food was a big letdown. The menu’s been seriously cut down – no brown chicken, no hash, no mac and cheese, no salads or bowls. Even the little extras like the pickles with the goat curry are gone. The cocktail list is shorter now, and bottomless brunch has gone up in price with just a 2-hour time slot. We both had the goat curry – it still had good flavour, but wasn’t anywhere near as spicy as before. They now serve it in separate bowls (one for the curry, one for the rice, and a small side plate to put it all together), which just makes the portion feel smaller. It costs the same as it did before, but you’re definitely getting less. Plus, you have to pay extra for sides that used to be included. Only curries on the menu are the goat curry and a fish one – that’s it. No 2-for-1 cocktails either. We left hungry and disappointed. I would recommend checking the menu online before booking – it’s changed a lot and honestly just isn’t worth the money anymore.

Beautiful venue, great vibe and everything we ate was delicious. Talented and professional chefs and attentive and friendly staff. Lovely all round.

Turtle Bay has had a big time makeover, gone is the big wall of speakers and the reggae graffitti, but bwoy!! The food!! It looks classy and refined in here now, but the food blew my mind!! Im a big jerk fan anyway but the flavours of Jam Rock ripped tru me moot like dem bullets from da AK!!! Big up ur chest to all de chefs dem!!! Plus the reggae music still a boomin loud from all dem sound system!!! And our server Simon, absolute top cat round town, an dem big muscles!! ‘Im a tell me what gwaan and ya know me a like it!!! Irie!! 😎😎😎

We had such a great time at our bottomless brunch, and a huge part of that was thanks to our amazing waitress Elizabeth! She was so attentive, friendly, and made sure our drinks were always topped up without us having to ask. Nothing was too much trouble, and she had a lovely energy that made the whole experience even better. Honestly, one of the best service experiences we’ve had – thank you for making our brunch so enjoyable!

We had been to turtle bay in Chelmsford before the refurb and we were blown away by how much better this place is!!! The service, cocktails and food was 10/10 and our waitress Taylor was so sweet, kind and attentive! One of our new go to spots in Chelmsford!

I came in with my girlfriend for an after work drink.never been in before but I saw they were open after being closed for a refurb. I had a great time. Our server really looked after us. Lauryn was fantastic. Really took time to get to know us. Recommended us some drinks that were amazing. We even chatted to the chefs who were cooking our food. I think their names were cemal and Taylor but they were lovely too and cooked us some really good jerk chicken. Will be comming back

What a shame. My husband and I love this restaurant and visited countless times (or deliveroo). It had 241 cocktails, bottomless brunch, curry goat hash and the massive cocktail menu. This evening we visited, excited to see the new refurb...the place looks great and the staff are friendly but unfortunately that's where it ends. Everythings double the price and half the size. All the best cocktails are gone, and what we ordered was just full of ice. The positions are tiny and don't include sides, and bottomless brunch is now nearly twice the price and the menu/time limit is smaller. We would normally spend around £50 for the 2 of us and tonight it was £115!! Really disappointed and unfortunately we won't be going back. Bye bye turtle bay 😭

This used to be our favourite restaurant in Chelmsford but it's not the same now. The menu choices are now limited and you have to order a side separately to your main if you want anything alongside your food. The cocktail options have all changed too, with loads of the more popular ones removed. We found the prices had gone up considerably too, for no real improvement to the food. The jerk chicken was bland and dry and the ribs were overcooked. Real shame, and it felt to us as if all the changed were just to squeeze more money out of you for less quality.

After being refurbished it is really disappointing that happy hour is now only 5-7pm and the choice of drinks is minimal, atmosphere was still good but lack existing cocktails is a no from me. Will not be visiting as much as I used to.

Me and my other half was looking forward to this opening back up again and we couldn't fault the service or the atmosphere. The food on the other hand was lacking. I ordered the red pepper hummus and quite frankly it was more like puree, with a very underwhelming flavour. I can appreciate that it might not be my sort of flavour but the texture was off in my opinion. That isn't the worst part, my "main" which sounded great. Was one single chicken breast which costs £10.00 by the way and we had to add chips for £4.00, we still can't believe 2 chicken breasts cost £20. I feel completely ripped off, for food I could of cooked myself.

A lovely experience made even better by our server, armar. He let us sample some cocktails that were absolutely delicious and really set the tone for the evening. Highly recommend

Haven’t been to Turtle Bay before, but came here for the first time with my partner this evening and honestly can say we’ve had one of the nicest evenings! Our servers were absolutely fab, we didn’t catch their names but a young guy and young girl (absolutely amazing and so attentive!!) we then moved to the bar tables to finish our drinks and had a lovely experience chatting to the bar stuff, it was honestly a breath of fresh air speaking to Alfie and Ollie, absolute 5 star to the both of them, fantastic members of staff who actually leave an impact, what a team!!! Thanks guys

I have had to amend my 5 star review after visiting today post refurb. So disappointed as this was our favorite restaurant pre refurb but not any more. I love the new decor, music and atmosphere but that is where it stops. Every single cocktail has been removed from the menu and replaced with more expensive options with far less value containing only one spirit where they used to contain three and four spirits. Furthermore the 2 for 1 is now only between 5 and 7pm and you are only allowed to choose from 8 cocktails out of the 17 on the menu. Don't get me started on bottomless brunch now only available until 2.00pm and only for 1.5 hours instead of 2 hours with a choice from only 8 cocktails plus it has gone up in price so you are basically paying more for a lot less. Needless to say I will not be visiting again until things change and improve as there are far better value bottomless brunches and 2 for 1 cocktails available elsewhere which is a shame as we used to come here every week.

Very good service from shanice, lyida & Sam - it was a great experience and so refreshing to see a turtle bay which is completely different from the rest. We will definitely be returning

The decor is lovely but I think it should have been left as it was, the food was nice but too expesive for what u got, too much ice in cocktails!! Dont think I will be returning, such a shame, I have spent many lovely evenings in there before the refurb!!!

Great cocktails and amazing rum knowledge from all the bar staff I didn’t eat this visit but if the knowledge of the bartender for rum is the standard for there new concept I’m sure will exceed all expectations big shout out to Ross in particular keep whipping up them cherry daiquiris for me and I’ll be happy!

Popped in for an afternoon cocktail and was so impressed with the service we came back the next morning for brunch. Food was delicious (I had the light bite roti and my mum had the full Caribbean breakfast) and the drinks were fab. Service was delightful.

Visited Turtle Bay after several years to grab breakfast following park run. Loved it. A new menu with loads of choice. Highly recommend.

And let me tell you, the service? On point! The staff got that warm island hospitality—smiling, friendly, and making sure you good from start to finish. You feel like family the second you walk in. Turtle Bay ain’t just serving food, they serving culture. It’s the kinda place where you come for the meal and stay for the vibes!

Completely ruined what the whole premise of turtle bay used to mean for everyone, really hope the rest of the estate doesn’t turn into what the Chelmsford one has become! Cheap drinks at 2-4-1 on a late evening, or a cheeky bottomless is no more (unless you want to pay more money for less time than before the refurb). No one wants these places that try to be ‘up-market’, Turtle Bay in Chelmsford used to be one of the leading bars to go to, doesn’t look like it’s going to be the case anymore

I came in for a solo meal and I saw repulsive and unhygienic food, it had a unusual and off putting taste whilst also being overpriced with a bad attitude from the servers not making my night enjoyable at all will definitely not be coming back :)

Had a great experience at the Turtle Bay re-opening. The staff were really lovely and welcoming and the food was excellent. There was a couple of mistakes with our order, but they were quick to sort it out and even provided complimentary items and a reduced bill for the issue. Claudia was friendly with a high energy which matched the vibe of the place. Would recommend and will return.

Second time visiting and was slightly disappointed, giving leniency that it’s new years so extremely busy. The food is quite bland but I’m assuming that’s due to this being a Caribbean restaurant in Chelmsford and not London, We ordered a Trini Cod and It tasted like B-O, the starters were nice, prawns were delicious, not sure about the sweetcorn fitters and the salt fish wraps, I also got a roti wrap to take home and it’s not bad, more salty than jerk flavoured. Besides the bland food, service was great - Tudor was an excellent waiter, very friendly and personable, gave good suggestions, not sure of the bartenders name but he’s absolutely incredible, he’s the reason we came back after the first time - incredible service, amazing drinks and just brings a good vibe to the place! Again, taking into account that this is Essex not London, I feel like Caribbean music would be more suitable than that funky DnB or electric music?

Went today for dinner with my daughter Given it was not thay busy the food was coming out slow,but was worth the wait. Will our waiter was polite, friendly and very helpful and customer focused. Had a few cheeky cocktails on the buy one get one free.
