Jerk Station in Chelmsford

Decided to go to Jerk station at the chelmsford market and was served by the lovely Austine, the food was absolutely amazing and great service. of-course me & my friend came back again…The food is always amazing and definitely recommend!

I bought pounded yam and egusi soup and this was actually the best African dish experience I’ve had in the UK. The soup is everything. The quantity was also incredible and the quality is just 100. Keep it up please

I bought Jerk chicken today from Chelmsford market and it was so disappointing, the worst Jerk chicken I ever had. It was very bland, it tastes nothing like the real Jerk chicken. The chicken tasted like it has been cooked for over 3 weeks, it did not tasted fresh at all. I was really looking forward to trying food from Jerk Station, I will never buy from here again. So disappointing. Friendly staff though.

Great food! Excellent customer service! I enquired about something a month ago and this morning they went out of there way to message to say they had what i was enquiring about and put some aside to ensure i managed to get some! Thank you so much! Highly recommend will certainly be back

This was the first time ever I tried African food (out of curiosity). The food was indeed great and was not expensive. Recommended.

Great tasting of - but i ordered a large portion or jerk chicken and rice and recieved 1 chicken thigh and 1 chicken wing... that is not large lol

Hard to spot if you are not local and driving. Couldn't find somewhere near to park the car. Food was okaish tbh. We had the Jerk chicken with rice and Curry goat with rice and peas and coleslaw. Sadly the food didn't taste like authentic Caribbean food at all. So I have to say I will give it a miss the next time.

The best take away in Chelmsford in my opinion! Always tastes great, good portion sizes, always delivered hot! Home cooked food at its best

Amazing food best jollof rice I’ve ever had can’t reccomend enough

Disappointed that the real Jamaican taste/flavour is not in the food ie curry goat, and hardly know gravy from the meat. Always run out of patties. Let’s see how they progress in a year from now. 😕 Need to work on there speed of service if perhaps they become busy one day.

This was the tastiest Caribbean food I’ve ever had!! The goat curry was 10/10. Full of flavour and tasty. Austin is also such a lovely guy! Would highly recommend.

Fresh good quality food and excellent standard of customer service from Austin and his Team. Its brilliant service where Austin is able to set up and cook onsite in the garden for parties, he comes to the customer. 10 out 10 for the great customer journey. Well.done and thank you. Khaleda Begum

I hired jerk Station for a party in my garden, it was amazing my family enjoyed the delicious jerk chicken and goat curry meals. 10 out of 10 for food and flavour and 10 out of 10 for Austin and his teams customer service. To have the jerk station gazebo up in my own back garden was an amazing experience. It was definitely the highlight of the party.Will definitely be hiring again soon. Roshida

Me and my partner ordered jerk chicken with rice and peas and a jerk chicken with Jollof. I have never seen anything like it in my life the jerk chicken looked like boiled chicken in sweet and sour sauce with soggy skin there was nothing Jerk about it in the slightest and the jollof rice from the one spoonful I tried taste like uncle bens Mexican microwave rice the whole lot got binned and will never be returning NEVER EVER . If you know about Caribbean food don’t let yourself down and go here you’ll be disappointed I wish it would let me post a pic

Jollof rice isn't proper, i was disappointed. The moimoi would have been okay if properly microwaved, a part was hot, the other part was stone cold. That's all i bought. The other food may be nice, I don't know. Excellent customer service though.

I had curry goat and rice and a coke from the jerk station market stall in Chelmsford High Street today the curry goat and rice was fantastic freshly cooked I highly recommend this jerk station to anyone I will be back again next Friday 😋

Ordered on deliveroo last night. Food arrived perfect. Such comforting food especially when you can't be bothered to cook and don't want the usual chain restaurant food that chelmsford seems to be full of. Chicken is always cooked perfect and everything is full of flavour.

I tried the goat curry and it was one of the best i have ever had, I would highly recommend, really good food and fantastic customer service

we ordered food from Jerk Station for our Sons first birthday party, we got the vegan curry, rice and peas and the vegan patties. The food was absolutely perfect and all our guests loved it, really good value for money as the portion sizes were really good! Just got home after visiting Jerk Station in the town centre with a bag of food ready to eat and I must say I am absolutely thrilled with my food and the experience meeting the lovely chap behind the food. I had a big portion of curry goat and two wings on the side all for £10. Can't fault anything with it, incredibly tasty and would reccomend to everyone with good taste! You won't be disappointed

As a carribean don’t go dere nastiest oxtail I ever tasted please no flavour ina it just a nasty taste and it ran my belly shop need fi stay closed. Lovely ppl but horrible oxtail

Jollof was very good, nice and spicy and good portion size. Unfortunately the jerk chicken portion size was on the small side. It tasted great but not a lot of it.

I had jerk chicken with rice and peas. It was so delicious that I went back the next day for the red bream and jollof rice. The fish was sweet and spicy and rice was so flavourful that I got it again the very next dinner! Love the plantains too. Highly recommended!

Great food, good portions and wonderful customer service

After moving from East London was looking for a good Caribbean near Braintree came across this and was looking forward to it, unfortunately I was quite disappointed. Rice and peas had about two pea (kidney beans) in it. Jerk chicken was nice, but what I was most looking forward to was the curry goat with was unfortunately very dry with no sauce on it. No fried dumplings or Mac and cheese. Friendly staff, hopefully it was a once off with the goat so might try it once more

I ordered catering to be delivered for my boyfriend’s birthday party and everyone was so impressed with the food. Delicious and great portions. Austine is also the kindest man! He made a special portion without garlic and onion for my boyfriend as he is intolerant. It tasted amazing. I rented the heated trays so the food would stay warm during the party as we were outside. Didn’t take many pictures as it was eaten very quickly! Definitely recommend and will be ordering again soon.

I go to Jerk Station every weekend for lunch, it is with out a doubt some of my favourite food in the world let alone the county. The staff are always wonderful, food, always good. I recommend the Ewa, but you can't really go wrong with any thing on the menu. Thank you Jerk Station for always making my week with your awesome food and for always putting a smile on my face. If more people where like Austine, the world would be a better place.

First time order. Ordered the Jerk box, contained 3 succulent and tasty peices of thigh and leg. Ordered the Jollof rice to accompany with a side of the Jerk sauce. Ordered a lamb patty, which they didn't have available but substituted with a beef patty and was equally satisfied.The food was amazing, nice amount of heat and flavour. Only wished I'd taken a picture to share here before I tucked in.Very good, would recommend and will 100% be ordering again.

I am all about an honest review… I order from jerk station very regularly & the food is amazing with a very authentic taste. Me & my partner love it so much I can easily place 3 orders a week lol sounds crazy but it’s true. My favourite is curry goat with jellof rice + 3 pieces of jerk chicken… yes I’m greedy I know my partner’s favourite is jerk chicken along with jellof rice… oh & sometimes an extra bit of chicken for her. Staff are extremely accommodating & could ask for a more friendly person every time the phone is picked up. If you haven’t ordered, or are thinking of ordering pls do it as you will not regret it I promise. Thanks jerk station for making such a fantastic meal with a super speedy cooking process. Love it ❤️

This food is the best! I am from London however moved to Braintree; it is too far to travel to London for my favourite jollof rice and beef stew. I was SOO happy when I found Jerk Station. The food is so delicious, tasty and full of flavour! Better than my shop in London. The owners are lovely people too; they are not open on Monday’s however opened especially for me! What wonderful people. 100% must visit and enjoy your food!

Been using Jerk Station for 2 years now and couldn’t recommend them higher for authentic Caribbean food, no better place in Essex for it. Great service too and great to see a small family owned business succeeding. Highly recommend their Patties in Coco Bread if you’ve never tried before and the Jerk Chicken, Rice and Plantain meal to us always a win

Just discovered this takeaway this evening and had a great experience. Small brightly coloured interior, good service, left with really good food. Goat curry , jolof rice and plantain. Very very nice. A nice lockdown treat.

Absolutely best caribbean food i've ever tried from a restaurant & lovely owner. I had the goat curry which was delicious & so tender also the Oxtail curry was amazing & perfect jollof rice. Spiced perfectly never too salty. Highly reccomended. An absolute gem in Chelmsford.

Stopped off at the Jerk Station (market eats) after a long walk from Sandford Lock so it really hit the spot. I love Jerk and cook it myself so this was a real test. Lovely, the chicken had so much flavour I had it over rice and beans along with some plantain.. delicious. My son had a taste of mine and loved it so much we ordered more to take home for tea. Next time I think I'm going to try the honey beans (I think he said).

Sorry but after a long time not having any Caribbean food I decide tonight to get jerk station delivery, mutton curry meal I'd say I have 75% fat on meat so basically my meal was rice and plantain, minimum sauce on it too. Patties good as always.

So delicious! It’s a good job I don’t live nearby otherwise I’d be eating from Jerk Station every day. I ordered a large Curried Goat with Rice and Peas, a lamb Patty, Jerk Chicken and some of their homemade Jerk Sauce. The plantain in the Curried Goat was delicious. I would definitely have ordered more plantain had I known it was going to be so nice. Such good value: It could easily have fed 2 people and would be a wonderful treat at just £18. It was amazingly fresh and delicious, and great value too. Service was brilliant too. I had a few questions and they were all answered.

My family and I got to the Jerk Station High Street stand in the late afternoon, and because the food is so awesome, we were disappointed to find out the delicious smelling chicken we could see cooking was already taken. As always the owner was incredibly kind and generous. If you snooze you loose, so we didn’t get what we wanted that time round but we will be back.

Just a great place Jerk stationIve been there a few times &not only is the food sooo lovely but the staff great to..i visited on the sat eve to order a Jerk chicken meal large.the beautiful young lady took my order & told me it would be 10 mins.i was back in that time & the food was ready..i took it home & loved it! Wow, just wow. I can’t thank Austin and his team enough. We have just finished an amazing meal from them. It was gorgeous! The whole family enjoyed everything , even the fussy teenager who wasn’t going to touch plantain ,ate it ! Amazing . I have been working and staying in Chelmsford for the last two weeks, delighted to find Jerk Station along “Deep Fried Ally”. Austin’s and his crew have been very welcoming on my frequent visits. The food is excellent, I’ve tried just about everything on the menu. Can’t decide if my favourite is the jerk chicken or the red bream (with jollof rice). Just note that it seems to be listed under its old address, it is now along Duke Street.
