Brambles Restaurant in Chelmsford

Very friendly staff and lovely, good sized food portions. We met friends there and found the atmosphere and the food superb. Nice airy restaurant too. A lovely experience, thank you.

Always a great experience - popped in for Breakfast recently, just had a sausage sarnie (even came with a salad garnish) and my usual cappuccino. Staff are always friendly, very attentive, couldn't ask for more. My first choice for a good breakfast in town. Keep up the good work as always - smiles all round!

Excellent British style restaurant where quality and service come first .

Sadly, this cafe within the Co-Op Quadrant has lost its way. As soon as you reach the counter, the male assistant who I think is the owner tries his best to rush you into choosing something to eat. I ordered a ham salad panini. What a disappointment. Paper thin value ham. One thin slice in a very lukewarm panini. I would have been embarrassed to give that to anyone. A couple of cheap tomatoes and a limp piece of lettuce going brown at edges qualified for a side salad. I took the panini back and said that I was slightly underwhelmed by the whole package. It came back with margarine pretending to be butter to make up for the £7 I had just spent on it. So lesson learnt. Avoid and go to the lovely cafe nearby called Recess and enjoy a better quality meal.

I would give this a c. Service was slow, food was mediocre. We had the NY strip a pizza and the half chicken and all was fine just not really worth the price .

The service was ok and our drinks came quickly however was quite expensive when it came to food it was a disaster me and my family came here and when our food arrived it was completely wrong must have been someone else’s when we said it was wrong they quickly replaced it but when it came my shepherds pie was really under cooked borderline raw and the rest of my meal was soggy like it had been sitting in the Amazon rainforest for weeks there was also a funny smell in the restaurant that we couldn’t quite pin Costs way too much to justify eating in this poor excuse for a restaurant wouldn’t recommend

if your after traditional old fashioned food, plenty of veg, lots of good quality meat. You cant beat Brambles. Staff are great. Its a cafe and most people seem to be over 50 , but who cares if the foods good . If youre looking for a restaurant and maybe dress up its not for you . If youre looking for good food, clean tidy and nothing too much trouble for the staff , you're out shopping and dont want to spend a fortune , id definitely recommend

The food here is very good...typical British grub...but it's the service that is absolutely outstanding! All the staff are helpful and on the ball. Quick and efficient service and the tables are cleared immediately. Well done to all!

Large choice of fresh hot home cooked food, staff very helpful and perlite My third time of eating here and I give it 10/10 you will not be disappointed

I recommend the Sunday roast! Very helpful staff and really good food served in generous portions. Very clean and plenty of tables. Wish they had a bigger range of snacks and cakes but it's more than made up for by the great food. Love the store too!

At first glance, Brambles looks a little old school. The restaurant is often busy, a little dated in terms of decor and design, and all you’ll see is a sea of white haired customers. Look a bit harder, and you realise it’s because not many people know about this gem - and when they do, they stick with it. The portions are huge. The service is super friendly. The menu is varied and all appears homemade on site - though, it has to be said, it focusses more on hot dinners and has less options if you’re after a light bite for lunch. Prices are very reasonable for what you get. If you’re after a big meal for lunch - well, it saves you cooking dinner later, right? - you can’t go far wrong with a visit to Brambles.

Great place nice friendly staff go out to help all fantastic range of food to select from and cooked to a very high standard.

I have been here once before and had a nice cafe type meal, this time, however the food was terrible and my mother who”treated us” to lunch there got quite upset. Her Shepherds pie was pale so not baked in the oven and was quite cold, the lasagne had the same meat mixture as the shepherds pie was tasteless and just warm. My husband had a cheese scone as he said nothing appealed to him especially the old fish, and the dried up liver. Definitely an off day. Access to the cafe involved slopes and steps even though there is a lift to the first floor so quite unsuitable for its clientele. Will never go here again.

The food is good British food sold at a good price. The service is outstanding. I went with two toddlers and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They bent over backwards to help. Couldn't recommend enough.

It is several years since I had a cup of coffee in what appeared to be a cafe hidden round the corner of a furniture display. Not to-day. There was a lot of activity where the staff were getting ready for serving hot lunches. There is a wide choice of hot items to choose from. The staff could not be more helpful. In central Chelmsford this is a place to seriously consider for lunch. It is open seven days a week.

We found this restaurant by accident. We were out shopping and discovered the store had a coffee shop/restaurant. On further exploration we discovered it wasn't just sandwiches and snacks. The meals are well cooked and well presented and extremely good value. We were there for Sunday Lunch, roast beef and all the trimmings. Very tasty and well presented.

We always like to pop into Brambles for a bit to eat when in Chelmsford. The staff are amazing, so helpful & friendly. There is a wide selection of food & drinks on offer. Prices are about average for main meals, which we tend to have. Always clean & tidy. One criticism the garden peas are always hard. Would say need longer cooking or better quality peas.

Very impressed with the service of the staff. The food that we had was very good. We had roast potatoes, chicken pie and panini. Not far from the main shopping street. Definitely recommend.

Went here for breakfast with my wife. The breakfast was a reasonable size and quite good but the reason that I have rated the restaurant as very good is down to the very welcoming staff. It was first thing and yet they were very chirpy and seemed very happy in their work. Well done ladies and I look forward to my next visit.

Although I would normally rate-average this restaurant in the Quadrant is better than many others you may find in department stores such as Debenhams. The staff are very good and the food is of good quality and prepared well.

Esta fue nuestra primera visita a este restaurante en Chelmsford y hizo un cambio agradable de los habituales cadenas High Street. No lo básico. Mi hamburguesa y patatas fritas estaba bien bocadillo tostado caliente y sabroso, y mi esposa estuvo acompañado de una ensalada de bonito. Incluso teníamos una mesa con una linda vista del río.

second time visiting brambles Chelmsford , very good choice on the menu, the whole area was clean and tidy and a number of staff about to help if required.. the restaurant I estimate was about ninety percent full. We both had gammon steak egg and pineapple, to which my wife said she did not want the pineapple,, the assistant openly said its in the price why not have it and give it to your husband, very much appreciated , how often do you get that service " WELL DONE" The gammon was tender and food in general plentiful

Han estado aquí varias veces para el café. Esta vez fuimos un sábado cuando estaban llenos más otros lugar y ruidosa, la comida era excelente, servido a la mesa, y un precio muy razonable. Aunque estaba muy ocupado, el nivel de ruido era mucho menor que en otros lugares. El personal era servicial y muy agradable. Vale la pena una visita para el almuerzo.

El restaurante de comida casera olía regañandote así que había; t muy acogedor. Decidimos tomar una taza de té y un capuchino. El capuchino era servirse uno mismo y l me cobraron 2 libras. 50 desorbitado a no volver

This is such a lovely restaurant to eat in, good variety of food which is reasonably priced and very tasty. It is airy and spacious, unlike other restaurants you do not feel you are sitting on top of the next table. The staff are so friendly and it is heart warming to observe the care they show to their elderly customers, many of whom seem to frequent regularly, and as many seem to be eating alone it is lovely to see the staff chatting to them and bringing their trays to their table.

Chelmsford has always been a great place to shop, plenty of parking places, and lots of bus routes in and out of the town.Virtually all pedestrianised, which is excellent But after all shopping and traipsing around I can thourghly recommend the Brambles Resaurant great food and lots of choice.We have never been disappointed and whole heartily recommend this venue to everyone.

A great place for well cooked food. A brilliant range of hot food on the menu, every time we have visited. You get a plate full at a reasonable cost.We will be visiting again real soon.

I have visited this restaurant several times now. The first time I couldn't believe that I have lived in Chelmsford for 28 years and never visited before. The staff were excellent .All were smart and well attired. The chef and the rest of the staff were so helpful as I usually have my 2 year old grand daughter with me so extra help is always appreciated and I have never had to ask for it. The staff present a professional manner and appear to have a pride in their work. The food is excellent both in quality and choice, particularly for children.

This was the first time I've been here and i plan to go back! Having worked at a department store restaurant for many years I'm always interested in these kind of settings.Wasn't very busy, and after we had decided on our breakfast we were quickly served by at least 3 members of staff who literally couldn't do more to help us! Offering us something different when my mum didn't want egg and making sure we had the toast etc..Very reasonable price too. Some staff were chatting to customers who are quite obviously regulars, this makes me smile as I've learnt over the years some elderly people don't speak to anyone else for the rest of the day so it really makes a difference to them to have a little chat. The whole restaurant was clean and so were the toilets. Very very nice food, I really loved the sausages and my mum loved the bacon!The only thing I would change is the variety of breakfasts but that's because I like everything on mine ( I added on the things that I wanted so no problem!)Thank you to all staff, I'll be back to try the lunches!

Had lunch there today the quiche was great and the salad fresh variety very tasty and good value. Staff most attentive. Restaurant very clean. Warm and comfortable.

We went for an afternoon cuppa in Brambles and found the place to be lacking in atmosphere, there were a few other customers but the place felt lifeless. The teas we ordered were hot and good. We sat by the window and looked out over the river which was pleasant enough. However, this was not an experience we would repeat.

(Also a great cheap Breakfast) in town and great value. A secret venue and well worth a try The Beef. Roast Potatoes And Yorkshires are superb

My sister has been visiting this restaurant for a long time now but for some reason I have never eaten there until today.Well, what a first class department store restaurant.It is situated on the first floor of The Quadrant store, part of the Coop.There must have been at least eight home made main meals to choose from, all of which were made on site.,,plus all,the usual self service accompaniments.The portions were generous and very tasty.Everyone's meals as they left the counter looked superb.Certainly our two different meals were first class.The staff are all very helpful an were obviously pleased to serve you.It was obvious many people there were regulars, which I will be henceforth.
