Fancied Indian rather than hotel food on our way through Hamilton on holiday. This place had parking and space at tables which was good but I am not surprised as they are not very hospitable and changed our order to a rubbish tikka masala when we wanted something more interesting. 1970s style rubbish curry. Waitress was charming, host man, terrible. Definitely will not go back. Most expensive meal out we’ve had in a very long time.

If you're going to use the sentence "sorry if we are too cool for you" on the front desk maybe actually make sure the hotel is up to par. The elevators take almost two minutes to open once they reach the floor...you get to your floor (ours was 3rd) and the floor to get to your room is sooo uneven and squeaky, thank goodness we hadn't had a drink 😂 I checked in online for two persons however the room was set up for only one. The squeaky floors didn't end there as the room was just as bad. The artwork for the rooms is also slightly questionable I will add. The wardrobes in the room have to be opened in a certain order or the door will get jammed and won't open and the whole hotel it's just overall very very old (not in a good way). We were only greeted once at the front desk once which was when we checked in, when we were checking out in the morning the lady was on the phone so we handed over our keycard and as we turned to leave we were quite abruptly told to "stay there and wait" until she could check if there was anything outstanding on our account, understandable...however nicer ways to go about this. Even Premier Inn a three star hotel will greet the guests everytime they leave and enter the hotel...much better service expexcted from what is supposedly a four star hotel. Not to mention their attitude on cash payments...no cash will be accepted at this hotel and they are even Tory enough to call it 'Dirty' and according to them that means they are just "too cool" 💀

Didn’t have half the cocktails in stock, messed our orders up waited 50 minutes for our drinks, ordered a pina colada and when telling the staff member that we thought something was off with the drink, the immediate response was ‘well you’ve been drinking it still’. Rude staff and don’t recommend, not worth the money for the price you pay!

We ate in the restaurant this evening as a last minute plan when everything else around was closed. The service was great, especially the female server who was chatty and warm while still being very professional. The restaurant, although quite empty since it's January, had a nice atmosphere with the warm log burner in the centre. The food was mixed - starters of arancini and beetroot hummus both excellent. My venison was good but overcooked for medium and could have done with a little more potato on the plate. The crispy kale and jus were excellent. The fish and chips were nice, nothing particularly special but they were only fish and chips. A choice of real or mushy peas would have been nice as mushy peas aren't to everyone's taste. We would definitely return!

Visited for lunch this week, had high hopes that things would have improved since re-opening. I can't fault the service, both waitresses nice and friendly. However the menu is such a disappointment. Really should stick to basic pub grub, and a soup/sandwich option would be good. Less of the fancy food - they will be running at a loss with all these ingredients given they are not very busy. The soup was terrible, tomato and roast garlic which tasted like a tin of chopped tomatoes had been pureed with some garlic. To be fair, they didn't charge me for this. Also there are not many vegetarian options - since when has black pudding and bacon been suitable for veggies? The Four Cheese macaroni cheese comes with this! And it has a V next to it. I hope they take this on board as I would like to see the place being a success.

Came to Edinburgh on a 2-day stint to get a taste of the city. Seen this coffee place as one of the recommended and went in eager to taste. Upon entering, it was an unwelcoming atmosphere. In the brief interaction with one of the guys, he was extremely rude and embarrassed my friend in front of other patrons. We were tourists and visiting a number of places to get a sense of Edinburgh in general, incl. all the different recommended bakeries/coffee shops etc. We were not aware of the 'ONLY SPEND IN OUR SHOP, EAT FROM OUR SHOP' policy they had in place, and so took a snack from a local bakery that we seen recommended. Had we known that he was going to inhospitably call it out infront of everyone and make us feel unwelcome, we would never have went in. From a tourist point, its restrictive and detracts from the overall experience of exploring the area's culinary offerings - maybe the guys should keep this in mind for future given that Edinburgh is a city full of tourists? I should also mention that I initially was going to buy a snack from their cafe, as my friend had their own but I had none, however there was only one non-fresh looking croissant left on display? So we were not even aware they even did snacks. We then sat in uncomfortable silence for the duration, quickly drank the coffee, waited to pay (at least 7minutes) a hefty sum for a tiny coffee. Definitely dont recommend for tourists and will not be back

Bought a kebab here last weekend as I have done so before many times which have been excellent, however this one was the worst kebab I have ever not eaten. Kebab meat was very thin and very very dry and tasted like cardboard. Just did not taste fresh so that will be the last time I go there.

Disclaimer: This review is going to be different! Christmas of 1991, my family spent the holidays in Scotland. On Christmas Eve, everything in Edinburgh was closed. We walked the streets looking for dinner. Topkapi doors were unlocked, so we walked in. The gentleman greeted us and apologized that they were closed. Then told us to wait and have a seat. A little while passed and he started bringing bowls of beef, chicken and lamb. I can’t remember what sides he brought because the meat was exquisite, some of the best I’ve ever had. I can’t recall all of the laughter and sharing with the gentleman, or his name. But, when everyone had their fill and thankful that he took care of us on Christmas Eve, he refused to let us pay for any of it. Recently, while sitting with my mother while my father is in ICU at the hospital, we reminisced about those travels and the memory created by that gentleman at Topkapi in Edinburgh. If their food is still half as incredible now as it was then, you must visit them! I will take my children one day.

Amazing home made food at equally amazing prices. There's no frills about this place but it oozes community friendliness. And the bar woman, Danielle, couldn't be more helpful. I recommend 100%.

Nice place with good views but expensive. Edit: Now we visited this place many times so I can write review in detail. This place is lil expensive compared to other bar but what I like most is, there is no noise, you can enjoy your time with colleagues talking while having drinks. You don't need to shout to talk. A peaceful place with a very good view that too next to Glasgow central station.
