Our go to takeaway in Dalkeith for 20 years. Great food at good price and mostly delivered in about an hour (we live out in the country so this is expected).

Absolutely delicious Indian food great sized portions excellent delivery service would recommend if you love Indian food & you're in Dalkeith area definitely give it a try

I went to buy a chicken kebab from kebab mahal and it was disgusting. The chicken was raw and cooked in the microwave. I asked for a grilled chicken kebab instead and the guy refused and was extremely rude. I just left empty handed paying £13 and won’t recommend anyone else to go there. Worst service ever.

Chicken shawara the chicken was anything but the breast totally disgusting really disappointed will not be trying again.

The kebabs from here are the best I've ever had hands down, their curries are great too!

We usually used this place as the food seemed fresh and tasty and the staff seem friendly. Today we ordered two meat boxes, usual order, disappointment isn’t a strong enough word, the food was not fresh at all, you can tell the lamb kebab is not fresh at all, the donner meat which I was a huge fan of is completely tasteless and completely dry, everything served to us today has not been fresh or adequate. I have paid £40 plus for what seems like microwaved food.

Wow, pizza n chicken tikka masala was great. Was recommended by a friend and they were spot on. Really good well done.

The food is first Class The service excellent, it has the ambiance of a brilliant kebab shop the smells and bustle gives you the feeling that you want the food even more. Brilliant.

Yesterday I did the order not good no taste nothing

We ordered the dishes Mushroom Bhajee and “Saag Paneer”, and they were tasting the same, one difference was “saag paneer”was a bit spicier, NO SIGN of spinach in the “saag paneer” which is ridiculous and disappointing. I love the Saag Paneer from Kebab Mahal in Edinburgh, and we were hoping to have similar experience in this place but not really. Good to know for future

Ordered a dinner pizza food was terrible dry kebab meat soggy cabbage and cucumber for the salad watery chilli sauce delivery took 1.5 hours on a weekday night

Not good, one dish was okay but then we got moldy pizza, it's not a fresh dough but pre-made bases and our was moldy.

First time here in a while due to lifestyle changes. Food was great, very flavoursome and good sized portions at a fair price, unlike their competitors. Went in to get a quick on the go dinner, the food was still amazing, very well priced and very tasty.

Food is nice when it arrives. Website states 75 mins delivery, so another 30 mins and 2 phone calls later luke warm food arrives, missing sauces, to be told they're very busy.

My wife and I ordered a takeaway from here and we thought it was pretty good. Delivery time was much quicker than originally stated which was nice. They were able to customise my order which was also appreciated. Unfortunately the Mahal Mixed Kebab which I ordered had plentiful salad but not as much meat as I was expecting. It also didn’t include any donner meat that it was supposed to. I had to steal some from my wife’s meal as she appeared to have an abundance of donner. The meat that I got was quite nice but the peshwari naan was what stole the show. We also got a few dips which complemented the meal well. We did find that paying £36 was quite pricey for 2 dishes.

ordered chicken kebab in nan and a portion of chips arrived on the 2hr mark as stated, chips missing called to say they were missing to be told another 2 hours to get chips then asap a hour n 30 mins later i call bk still no chips kebab is now stone cold should have known better that has been the last 3 orders something has been missing . Food tastes lovely when u get it but will not be ordering from here again no offer or refund dinner totally ruined. I get that they r busy but u should always get what u pay for and i havent

Great curry and kebab. Karai and balti excellent.

Easy to order, difficult to pay on line all details added and pressed pay everything disappeared so not sure if took it or not. Checked bank not off so just paid on pick up

Amazing kebabs. Shawrama & donner Naan . Delicious! Couldn't eat it all. Will eat the rest later. 115 miles from home but will definitely be returning.

I used to get meals regular even when I stayed in Edinburgh but tonigh will be my last it's to oily sauce was a bit taste less just disappointed

Food took over 90 mins to arrive. Turned out they didn’t include the pizza or rice for curry. Driver said nothing to do with him and walked away. Other food that was delivered was cold. Claimed we would get pizza etc within 25 mins. Over an hour later and still no food and not answering phone. Disgraceful.

Ordered all the meats box and I have to say its excellent value and the food is very tasty. This was my first visit here and I would definitely go back. I would rather of had delivered however they don't cover Bonnyrigg unfortunately but definitely worth the drive to collect.

Absolutely horrendous service. I ordered a delivery 6pm on a Monday being told 45 minutes. At 8pm they tel me its not made yet and will need to wait another 30 minutes at least. Why promise on a delivery time if you're not going to be able to deliver? I have two young kids who were very hungry that night. On another occasion just because we used a discount code we could see they reduced the size of the portions. Never using them again.

I placed an online order for a scheduled drop off time, with more than 1 hour and a half notice, I even called the restaurant to confirm the address and time because the app couldn’t find my exact address, when the delivery window pasted I called the restaurant again and spoke to the same person, and she told me that they had been busy and were behind, and that my order wasn’t even prepared yet and would be around half an hour, more than 1 hour later than u had “scheduled” for the food to arrive for my young children and myself, then I get a call, 2 hours after placing the order, telling that they don’t have chicken and only chicken tikka, so now the order will be 1 and an half hours late, and my kids and I getting more and more Irritable about the situation, and the desire to eat gone, I’m sure they have put back the order until last, on more than 1 occasion because this is not possible for an order to take more than 2 hours to prepare at only 2 miles from the restaurant…. The food is great here, but it will be a long time until I think of ordering from this place due to the lamentable delivery service and the inability to fulfill a scheduled delivery and not by a few minute, more than an hour.

Looked nice, but chicken shawarma was inedible. grissely and undercooked in places. Doner is doner and the nann was ok but very greasy. Woke up at 2am to sit on the toilet for a hour

Not happy at all! My cheeseburger came burnt and chips with barely any sauce and undercooked… I told them we were self isolating and they proceeded to leave my food at the stairs instead of the door when I specifically told them where to keep it. Horrible service

Absolutely shocking service. Wouldn't add a can of juice to our order because they were "too busy". Would not listen and then hung up and cancelled our order. Shocking

I order tonight meat feast hot pizza taste horrible .small piece of meat it looks like they have taken it from curry. It was hard and smelly. Burger was okay.

Had the lamb shish kebab on a naan. It was absolutely delicious. The lamb was succulent and even the salad was lovely and fresh. Delivered in record time with a smile.

Recently really nice place to order fresh food. Being honest I use them at least twice a week and always serve delicious fresh high quality products and staff is always polite and kind.

Straight forward doner order, surely the easiest The meat was okay but the bread awful. Salad was poor and clearly there to reduce the meat quantity. And the chips were floppy miserable things.

Phoned up about a concern about the food for the chef to tell me he's offended and that am a dick then proceeds to hang up on me I tried to explain to him but never let me get a word in.and when I phoned back he refused to speak to me nd left the desk guy to take the prunt of the abuse I gave back. Then the guys trying to tell me there nor a third world country and pest(rats and mice) can't climb. Place is a joke definitely won't be coming back. going by the customer service reviews just shows yous need to deal with your poorly trained "chefs" and staff, AVOID!

I have ordered from them a number of times. Something is always wrong: 1. This time, there was no sauce with Donor 2. The time before that, they didn’t send a soda can. 3. Earlier than that, the person I spoke with seemed to exhibit condescension for no apparent reason. list goes on ...

Just ordered and Asked for no chilli on chicken wrap. Came covered in it. Gutted! Cant eat it.

Never have I witnessed such disgust from another human being as I did tonight. A guy walks in to order food, at closing time, he says to the guy is it cold in here,? Thr guy behind the counter accuses him of being a racist paedophile????? All hell broke loose, omg how awful, not 1 racist remark was made and certainly no paedophile comments made. Trashy place with a disgusting hygiene and terrible customer service. The workers are generally unfriendly or even hostile. Also, today after me and a friend went to buy a Kebab and were overcharged. Upon pointing it out, the workers got angry and treated us disrespectfully. Never coming back again.

Great kebabs and the curry isn't too bad either. For a mega feast go for the Mahal Special Mixed Kebab. A delight for ant meat lover.

Food is good but the prices are rising quickly and steeply

Delivery took 2 hours on a week night.. food eventually showed up and it was the wrong order! By this point we’d had enough and were no longer hungry so returned the food and needless to say will never return. Absolutely appalling.

Waste of money very poor quality discusting food.. i have order mix kabbab and chicken biryani, the order takes really long to arrive the foid was disctusting the biryani no flavor not cooked at all full of uncooked ognions the mix kebbab was very hard paid for the poor quality so disapointed i throw everything and I will never ever order again from you

Returned after a few years to the Kebab Mahal, used to be quite good Veg Pakora very stodgy, unforgivable! 16 quid for Pakora/Curry/rice isn't the best value!

Stopped in here after Let's Rock Scotland at Dalkeith park as hungry and waiting on out taxi. Food was fine but my wife found chilli sauce on her bhajis to be too be too spicy so did not eat hers. Had to agree myself. My doner kebab was fine and definitely filled a gap.

Very average. Because it is the only Indian takeaway in the area, not much effort in the food. Not even that cheap compared to other food places in the area.

RUBBISH PIZZA - one or two pieces of small bits of chicken. Totally horrible, tasted like fake cheese. Really upset. Not nice

Always get my order wrong. I keep giving it a few weeks and try again how ever tonight took the piss, wrong order came, and the whole meal was covered in brown sauce and items missing from order, man was rude on the phone when I called. Example- I asked for cheese that comes with the kebab to be separate as someone in my family that would be eating a bit of the kebab is allergic to cheese, this was ignored and it came covered in cheese, the man said it dosnt come separate I said I’m a regular customer and uv always given me the cheese separate and I can prove this by my just eat orders and he’s shouted back no iv worked here for years and Wev never given anybody cheese separate! That was just an example of the guff I was told and that he wished to argue about! How about u stop arguing about petty things that can be proven by the pictures and buy the people iv had here when Wev previously ordered from you (2 pictures attached are two separate orders 31/3/18 and 22/2/18) and sort out your attitude towards customers and getting there orders correct!?

such rude staff. i order every week and spend £25 each werk = £100 a month. in December i complained because the guy on the phone didnt listen and only delivered one kebab instead of 2. he called me a liar. vowed never to go back. last night my husband fancied a kebab. phoned to order and the same man was so rude telling me it was too much hassle to seperate chicken from pitta bread.!!! no idea how but well done mate £100 a month lost. ignorant man

COLD FOOD DELIVERED IN 15 MINUTES... OBVIOUSLY RUSHED OUT WHEN NO NEED FOR THIS IT'S A WEDENSDAY NIGHT. WE COMPLAINED THAT THE KEBAB MEAT BREAD AND PEPPERS WERE COLD THE PEPPERS WERE SOGGY VERY COLD AND MUSHY. THE 2 I SPOKE TO ON PHONE WERE SO RUDE AND UNINTERESTED IN THE COMPLAINT. USED THEM BEFORE AND NO ISSUE BUT THE 1 TIME THERE IS THEY AIN'T INTERESTED IN NEGATIVE FEEDBACK WHICH IS SHOCKING. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!

Ordered a donner kebab with salad and dips. Salad was soggy and brown. Meat was dry and chewy. Like it had been sat for ages. Definitely went down hill which is a shame cause they used to be the best kebabs. That's the 3rd time in the past 2 months I've ordered and it's ended up in the bin. Won't be back in a hurry 👎👎

Very rude I called from my landline which is ex directory and they refused to take my order even though I offered them my mobile number still wasn't good enough so had to use the last 70p in my mobile just to call them with a visible number before they would take my order. If I could give them a minus I would, when I called back I told them I had to make the call quick as I didn't have enough credit (which I previously stated to them) and still got the rude tone of voice from the same person, I wouldn't be surprised if something is wrong with my food when it comes, it is such a shame as this place has potential to be really good.

I am a Glaswegan and very fussy about my curries. Edinburgh doesn't normally satisfy my requirements. The Kebab Mahal provides flavour and heat, in that order. I am so glad to have discovered their business. My carry oot is always a delight.
