Really delicious Sunday lunch today - the roast beef was very succulent, the gravy delicious, the Yorkshire puddings, vegetables and potatoes beautifully cooked. Puddings were excellent, too - especially the Pavlova, one of the best we've ever had. Service was cheerful and friendly, and it was so nice to be able to sit by the wood burner for our coffees. All excellent, as usual, and would highly recommend.

Second time I have visited here with friends and once again we had a lovely time. We all enjoyed our meals, we couldn't even finish our meals, there was so much. The staff are outstanding and friendly, one even went above and beyond to make me a cocktail, which tasted amazing. A good laugh too . The prices are great for the amount of food you get. Desserts out of this world even for someone as fussy as me!! They had no coleslaw but made some especially for me which was lovely of them. Can't praise this place high enough, can't wait to go again ♡

Just back from an excellent meal at The Village Inn. Home cooked food at its best. From the outside, it’s a period looking building but inside very modern and contemporary. The Village Inn was recommended to us by our host at a local B&B with a suggestion to book. Pleased I took the advice. We got the last table before being fully booked. If you want to go its highly recommended that you book in advance.

This is one of our favourite local pubs for lunch or dinner. There is a wide choice of home-cooked food, the helpings are generous and the quality is excellent. Here you will not find the ubiquitous pre-packed, factory produced, microwave dependent dishes. Instead you will find fresh local produce well cooked and presented. The staff are always friendly and the prices are very reasonable.

Dropped in on spec for a light lunch and we were immediately impressed by the warm welcome. The place was busy and we hadn't booked but a member of staff dealt with us immediately and showed us to a table. Menus were immediately available and our drinks order was taken very promptly and cheerfully. The menu has plenty to choose from ( main courses coming out of the kitchen looked huge!) but we both opted for a starter and dessert from the "specials " choice. Food was very good and portions were ample. I would definitely want to come back and try the full menu. Excellent service, tasty food and nice atmosphere. We used to live in the area but we haven't been back to Pitlessie Inn for years, however we would definitely try to return in the not too distant future. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely lunch.

I live locally and visit the Inn a lot - we like the atmosphere and the food/service is generally great. We were there earlier this week actually and enjoyed a family meal. Today however I was completely caught off guard when I had to unfortunately cancel our birthday booking due to our one year old daughter developing Covid symptoms overnight. I was passed on to who I assume was the manager/owner, and was spoken to in a very unreasonable manner. I have every sympathy for the hospitality industry and its losses in this difficult time, but I was taken to task over my cancellation, rather than be met with understanding or even resignation. The language was rude and defensive, with no interest in or sympathy for my situation, only her own. Again, I have every sympathy for her industry as a whole, especially for any independent property, but I expect at least basic courtesy and understanding, rather than aggressive and accusatory language. I certainly didn't want to cancel the birthday meal. I would love to return to the Inn, but will suggest that the staff member in question develop a better understanding that taking her frustrations about Covid out on her customers is alienating them.

We came in as a family looking for a table. Our visit on Monday was great and the waitress was really lovely, despite being so busy. We came in today (21st) looking for a table and were shooed away by the waitress who was working. She snapped at my grandfather who inquired about a table and told us “well you should’ve booked it” and stormed away. There were only two tables, both couples, she clearly wanted a lazy day. Was disgusted and embarrassed by her awful attitude as it was completely unnecessary. She was so loud and rude in front of other patrons. Really hope management have a word with her about her attitude problem, customer service can be a nightmare but don’t believe we caused any problems as it was a just us wondering if there was room. Her nasty attitude will be losing custom, hope the other waitress is getting paid a better rate and a bigger percentage of the tips.

We visited this restaurant in early January and really enjoyed the steak fajitas, surroundings and service. We made a 2nd visit a few weeks later to enjoy them again and were disappointed in the quality of the meat used that time. However, when we relayed this to our waiter he took our comments seriously and passed them on to the chef. They also, very kindly, gave us free drinks as an apology. We did have sorbet for dessert on that visit and it was very enjoyable. I would go back but would be hesitant about ordering the steak fajitas in case they weren’t as good as our first visit.

Decided to try out the new Pantry area which has recently opened. We wanted to try the Brunch menu but they had run out of ingredients so we ordered from the 2 Course lunch menu. We had fish cake starter and then battered fish and chip main. The fish cake starter was very tasty and accompanied by salad. Would have given 4 stars, but the main was a bit disappointing. The battered fish was tasty enough, and was accompanied by a very generous portion of chips and peas. But I didn't enjoy the chips at all. They were those very thin chips that can be quite crispy and hard. I much prefer chunky chips with fish. It was a huge platefull and I just couldn't finish it. Would have preferred a smaller quantity but better quality chips. Maybe it is just a personal preference, and if I had ordered a different main perhaps I would have given a higher rating. The newly renovated Pantry is very comfortable, with a casual seating area with armchairs around the woodburner - which I imagine would be a very cosy place to have afternoon tea on a wintry afternoon. The cakes available looked delicious, although we didn't try them on this visit.

The first time my wife and I have been here for almost 20 years. The lunch menu has a variety of food to suit most tastes and is exceptionally good value. Our order was taken promptly and in what seemed like no time at all, two plates of beautifully battered haddock appeared with fresh side salad and generous portions of peas and crisp chips. The home made tartare sauce was delicious too. Although we both decided to have the haddock, we will be back as the people at the next table had the steak pi, macaroni cheese and the sea bass. By the appearance of those dishes, they will have to be sampled too. We both managed a pudding. I had the the trio of ice cream and my wife had the Pitlessie Pavlova. She had a massive grin on her face when the pavlova was placed in front of her and I was able to eat my ice cream in peace while she savoured her desert. Got to love technology, "Table for five in ten minutes?" "No problem" was the reply. We were seated in the middle of the room and our drink order was taken quickly, our meals arrived in good time and as last time every thing was very nice, I'm not a great fan of quirky presentation but no one else minded burgers served on chopping boards and chips in little baskets so maybe it's just me. Scotland in general and Fife in particular lacks attractive village pubs with good menus. The Village Inn in Pitlessie is one of the best around. Excellent ingredients, well cooked on site and attractively presented make for a really enjoyable pub experience. The menu is more pub than gastro pub but that doesn’t matter because everything is so well cooked. The main bar is cosy and the service friendly and attentive. We wish there were more places like this around.

It was quite busy on a Wednesday evening and the car park was full. Not surprising as the food was very good. I only didn’t give it 5/5 because my crispy pork belly wasn’t crispy (very hard to achieve). I started with a bowl of olives and sun-dried tomatoes, then had the pork belly (which was very good except for the lack of crispiness) and an excellent glass of Malbec followed by very nice traditional bread-and-butter pudding with custard. The prices were very reasonable.

Great servIce, large varied menu with delicious food, recommend sirloin steak with mushroom, fries, cherry toms and wine juis. My husband had steak pie and friies. Excellent puddings, chocolate brownie recommended. Comfortable surroundings, we will be back, great for groups and families too.

Visited December just prior to Christmas on an evening and pub and restaurant seemed busy. Service was adequate and when I asked for wine list was told there was none and only two types of wine were mentioned and offered no indication if white, rose or red! Poor start. The had a starter of haggis perkora and found it a little greasy, the chips offered with the steak were really potato wedges and were in my opinion undercooked. Dessert of sticky toffee pudding was ok. My wife was similarly unimpressed with her choices.

Busy little village pub/restaurant (best to book a table). Good variety of dishes on the menu. We had a 3 course lunch from the meal deal menu which is very good value. Choice of about 4 starters, 4 main courses and 4 deserts. The other menu has more choices but is not much more expensive. They also have a comprehensive wine and beer list. The food was of good quality and enough to satisfy the biggest of appetites.(you can request small portions if needed). The staff were friendly and efficient . This is what a great village inn should be like. Excellent! We will be back.

After our first dinner here last night, we came back to day (we stay 2 nights in Kirkton of Cults), and again no regrets. A lovely menu and suggestions on the blackboard, great Belgian premium lager 'Heverlee' on the tap. We had 3 different dishes, all very tasteful, served with a smile. When we stay again in the region in the future, we will definitly stop at The Village Inn.

Booked for Sunday Lunch on Remembrance Sunday. Good choice from fixed price menu, pub menu and board specials. We mixed and matched from these menus and enjoyed every mouthful. The house pavlova was delicious - empty plates are a good sign! Not busy but service was attentive and just right-we'll revisit soon. Cosy and comfortable bar.

Popped in for some food as we were staying up the road and our host had recommended the place, we both got the blue cheese burger and were not disappointed. Lovely friendly pub with nice grub.

We ate here on a Friday night having travelled up from London for a wedding in the area - our hostess had recommend the restaurant. We enjoyed the soup of the day (split pea) as a starter followed by cod loin and chicken supreme for mains. The food was delightful and accompanied by fresh vegetables. Service was superb. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming.

We stayed and dined at the Village Inn in Pitlessie. This was to visit nearby ancestral villages, made easy by the local bus system. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The dinner was excellent. The Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert and the next morning’s full Scottish breakfast were the best we had during our two-week stay in Scotland. The room was small, but clean and recently redecorated. Our thanks to Kevin, Leigh, and Steven for a wonderful stay!

A group of 8 family members went in for a meal, having eaten here years ago. We booked a table, as we were a large party. The decor has been improved but the food was not to a very high standard.

Hadn't planned to go, but when passing myself and my wife decided to go in. We'd been here at least three times before, and always been impressed. We went in and it had just opened, thankfully, as it was a monday, and it's always difficult to get places open on monday that serve good food. I looked at the menu and i went for the haggis pakora and my wife went for the salmon with oat cakes both starters were excellent. Then i ordered the Corn fed chicken with black pudding and mustard mash, with onion and mustard sauce, my wife had the Fajitas, which when they came out, were sizzling hot, always a great sign my wife said. Both mains were great, to wash them down, i had two bottles of Ragnarok IPA and my with had a tomato juice and a J2O. Fantastic place to go and one of the only places i'd continue to keep going back to.

We stopped at this little spot on our way to Edinburgh. What a wonderful surprise! We had the mushroom crostini starter and the bruschetta starter....both were amazing! Our mains were the steak and ale pie and the bangers and mash. Both selections were top notch. We ended our meal with the sticky toffee pudding with custard which was also very good. I would highly recommend a trip to this establishment.

Good wholesome food at very reasonable prices. Although we were the only ones in for lunch on a very hot and muggy day we were served with an excellent meal the staff could not have been more helpful. We chose the £10.95 2 course lunch which was more than adequate to satiate our needs. Food was well cooked and well presented. We will be going back when the opportunity presents itself.

We stayed there for a Saturday. Good choices of local beers. Wine choice is limited (3 of each colour), but very reasonably priced. We had the haggis as a starter, which was fab. The special burger was delicious as well.
