Exactly what you would expect tasty and filling

To come clean, I visited in one of those 'end of night out munchies' trips. To their credit the staff were patient and efficient with the two slightly more than tipsy guys who came swaying in, and the large lamb shish kebab I had was really excellent - well grilled marinated lean meat and plenty of finely shredded lettuce and cabbage, and decent spicy sauce. Not the best place to sit and eat but overall really good.

Food is okay but definitely not a “shawarma”

So I order the chicken pakora, dry, cold and bland. The yogurt lamb kebab was an absolute disgrace, pitta not cooked and all cold. Also not cooked in yoghurt. There was 3 small samosas. Cold too. Amateurs at best.

Popped in 1st time since it re opened but won't be back went downhill had better out chippies.

If you are looking for Turkish style kebab in Edinburgh, you are at the right place. We ordered a mixed kebab plate, fries, drinks, it cost 40 pounds, we couldn't eat the whole meal, we had it packaged, it was that much, the employees told the Turkish business owner that we were Turks, thanks to brother Hüseyin, he came immediately and asked how we were. , we chatted over Turkish tea for 2 hours after dinner, he is very helpful, I definitely recommend you to go. Brother Hüseyin, if you are reading this comment, thank you for everything. You helped us so much. We came to say goodbye, but your workplace was closed, so we could not say goodbye. Thank you for everything, brother.

Terrible. Asked for a large döner kebab, received a pile of lukewarm strips of meat right off the spit (no browning, merely thawing), and a heap of cabbage. I must have upset them somehow, because there's no way a sustainable business is built off what they "served" me.

I love ordering from here but I hate the fact that they don’t give you garlic sauce for your kebab, everywhere you go in the uk for a kebab they give chillie and garlic but you lot do it different by handing over that weak salad sauce

Food takes ages to get, and people who order food after you get it sooner. The place is also quite smelly (fried stuff). Also you ask to have the dish without some ingredients and that is not respected. And also they don’t know the difference between shish and shashlik kebab….

Kebab was decent but floor was very sticky

Lovely sit in or take away food,we sat in tonight and the chicken kebabs were top notch, served with fresh salads, and 3 sauces salad,garlic, and chilli which was on the mild side and could have a bit more kick, we also hads chips they were also freshly made and tasty. Cold chips, cold kebab meat, despite being picked up and living around the corner. Extremely rude staff, after I’d paid for my kebab. The staff member insisted I pay another one pound because I asked him to put another bit of sauce on. I told him for that one pound I’ll never be back and he laughed in my face. Genuinely shocking behaviour. Avoid if possible.

Appalling service over the phone Made an order he told me 5m went there it wasn't ready, It wasn't busy. I got it given a box with some donner meat, a small bread not being able to fit that meat, and some salad in the box too. Price is way over the top for a kebab, I recommend to get it delivered from Ariana's Kebab you can get 2 kebabs for £10 for the price of one here and they each have around the same amount of meat as 1 here at Topkapi. I had to get it ready myself could fit 1/2 of the meat. And they charge you 20p for a 5p plastic bag. This place is a joke i highly recommend going elsewhere. I mostly leave good reviews however I am deeply dissapointed

Excellent service, came in with husband and son.. my son was treated like a little king, ate for free, served first and even put YouTube on the menu screen for him! Super family friendly, food fresh and cooked perfectly! I recommend for the price!

Sadly our visit to Topkapi was lacking the 'Top'. Pakora so overcooked it was like trying to bite into a lobster 🦞. Chicken content very small and dry. Veg also overcooked. Chips were nice although could've been hotter.

Food took 2 hours to arrive and despite being told it would be hot and fresh when arriving after I called twice to chase up, my chips and pakoras are stone cold and soggy, obviously been in the tub for a long time. Really not happy with the standard of it and service received

Great that it’s finally reopened. Been coming here since 1988 and there’s nothing better at that time of the morning if you’re needing food.

One of the guys racially abused me, saying asking how i am white being from Bulgaria. Food is edible, would not recommend.

We were recommended this place as a takeaway by our taxi driver tonight. The service was great and it was handed off / packaged nicely. However, the food is overpriced for what it is and absolutely coated or swimming in oil. We ordered kebabs / burgers in both wraps, pitas and on their own and all of our orders made us feel sick. Maybe the vibe / quality is different if you go in person but I would definitely not recommend this place as a takeaway.

There is no other place to go for food in Edinburgh. Staff are extremely kind and considerate. Menu is first class overall prices are competitive.

The doner kebab is fantastic. No kebab like this in all of Scotland. So happy they are back. The shawarma is fantastic. They make their own chicken shawarma. Whoever the chef is, he does a fantastic job! The pizza was so great and delicious that it was definitely value for my money! Would come again!

Really good food but extremely expensive for what you get. It cost be over £13 for a doner bab! This is probably about £9 in most other places.

As a taxi driver and serial takeaway eater I have to say welcome back Topkapi. Not had a decent kebab since they closed temporarily, mostly grease and hard meat. My first kebab since they opened had no grease and the salad was lovely and fresh, I have also tried the cheeseburger and chips so trust me when I say you won't go back to MC D's or B king after tasting one of these. So once again welcome back Topkapi 👍

Spent money on renovation but do not be fooled, the food is pretty bad and expensive. If you like having someone behind the counter tell you what to eat instead of you choosing for yourself then please eat here.

Best kebab in the town and always will be the best, anyone complaining about this place clearly has no taste for nice food and folk complaining about the price are clearly still living in the 90s

Best chicken kebab, I’ve ever tasted. Regularly eat from here, have done for years, as there is no comparison. The chicken in the kebab is juicy, full of flavour and they give you everything separate, so it’s not all soggy. Great staff, always friendly.

Had stopped eating kabah as wasn't impressed by any in town .. was talked into trying one here as they looked nice when I was in with someone getting one . Best AVE had in a long time . Regular now for it . All that you can see looks fresh and clean . You can see the high hygiene standard . Staff are all very welcoming and friendly . Would recommend if your up that end of town or if you want a good kebah . You can also sit in .

Yo y mis amigos solíamos comprar un kebab hace años, todos los sábados por la noche, y fue épico. Tenían la mejor comida y la mejor salsa de chile que he tenido. Pensé que me trataría el sábado y fue una decepción. La comida estaba helada cuando llegó. Las raciones eran bastante pequeñas y la peor parte es que se han metido con la salsa chili. ¡Fue horrible y he tenido una barriga poco fiable desde el sábado! ! No volveré y te recomiendo encarecidamente que no hagas el pedido desde aquí! !

El pollo ya había sido cocinado y almacenado en algún lugar, ya que lo hicieron en segundos. Siempre he visto el pollo en la plancha, pero no esta vez. Estuve en casa en minutos para comer mi kebab. Hacía calor pero el pollo no era muy bueno en absoluto. Tenía una textura extraña también como el pollo hervido. Tiré la mitad. Lo siento, pero no iré allí de nuevo

Sehr leckerer Chicken Hoagie Wrap, etwas zu teuer, aber ok. Soßen sind zu süß, aber das ist ja Geschmackssache und deswegen einen Stern weniger geben, wäre dumm, weil es von der Qualität sehr gut ist.

Some of the best, juiciest kebabs I've had in a long time! We are addicted to this place!! We always get take out, so can't say much about the sitting area, but the food is the best. Highly recommend the kofta and chicken kebabs!
