Ordered two crab sandwiches latte and a beer, £35. Staff need a pick me up or it’s been a hard season. The crab sandwich was good, spoonful of coleslaw, frozen chips. Was told to help myself to a glass for the beer, everyone looked not properly washed, picked the cleanest but still had bubbles down inside indicating grease. Latte was tasteless. Not a pleasant experience won’t be back.

Great choice of dishes with locally sourced ingredients, the club sandwich was substantial and excellent and the Mushroom soup with tarragon one of the best I have ever had. Coffee was great and the cakes delicious. All matched with smiling and attentive service

I come to Pontarddulais once a year while hubby visits a client and was excited to learn of the new espresso bar here. However, I was shocked at the prices!!! £4 for a latte and £3.90 for a flat white/cappuccino. Yikes! We were recently in Melbourne and Sydney and the most I paid for a latte there was £3, overlooking Sydney harbour. Mostly £2 generally and never had a bad one. Sadly, Coaltown’s flat white was way too strong and I didn’t enjoy 😝. I’ll bring my own next time. Shame, as I like the smell and ambience of a coffee shop.

Well we headed here as it was dog friendly. This place excepts dogs but not dog friendly! The lady was friendly when we walked in.we sat looking to see what we were going to eat. It is small inside so difficult if you want to avoid people. As we sat a child wasn't happy as couldn't have ice cream. There was a child being noisy, flinging thereselves around. We sta the other end. The woman working told us sit in the bk corner or dogs under the table. Yes I understand dogs being in the way but the wasn't. Quite dogs, noisy kids! We moved to cafe woody. Great food x

Absolutely 5 out of 5 for this amazing food .We went as a last minute meal .I was a bit dubious as had previously been for a works do and it wasn’t great . But our meal last night was outstanding. We decided on “Rays”pate to start (due to sentimental reasons on my side ) . Wow a huge chunk of pate and it was ,didn’t take photo of it ,with 1 and 1/2 slices of thick bread and red onion relish ,served beautifully on a board . I was full after that 🤣. Main course ,wow . My husband ordered the homemade pie and it was full of flavour ,lots of meat with a shortcrust pastry topping in served in an enamel pie dish ,with fresh peas and fresh chips . I ordered the loaded chicken breast ,with onions and mushrooms and cheese, with salad and I normally would have baked potato, but I just wanted chips and it was not a problem. Wow when it came out ,a big portion of fresh salad ,which wasn’t wilted ,finely chopped peppers and cucumber ,lettuce chopped,(just how I like it) lots of onions and tomatoes, with a balsamic glaze .Chips freshly cooked .Then the chicken ,a fresh thick chicken breast ,which was succulent and not dry ,with the topping of fresh mushrooms and onions ,nothing processed at all. I couldn’t finish it all ,but it was delicious. The desert menu came ,so much choice ,I was totally full and wished I could eat more ,as not a dessert person ,but a couple of choices I could have gone for .Plus they do Sidolis ice cream desserts too . My husband decided to have crunchie cheesecake and wasn’t disappointed, another very large portion with Sidoli ice cream The staff were amazing and helpful and friendly, not long waiting times either excellent customer service.I also noticed ,as it’s a family and dog friendly pub ,but on the tables booked for families ,they had put crayons and activity sheets for children .Its just these very simple little touches ,that in my opinion show that they care about the clientele and that your just not number to make them money ,sadly this seems to have been lost by many establishment s . Both my husband and myself(and I’m very fussy being an x chef) said this is one of the best meals had around in our 30 odd mile radius in a very long time excellent food and excellent value for money, unlike so many in the areas . Looking forward to next visit .Thank you Upper Cock

To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We have been drinking in the Nelson inn most weekends with friends and our children. But since new owners have taken over it is very very clear that they do don’t want our business. Considering it is meant to be a ‘family’ pub, we are made to feel very unwelcome every time we go with our children. We are always out by 7:30pm and always clean up after ourselves. Very rude and such a shame as we will never be returning after spending a lot of money there over the last few years.

We were in Caernarfon for five days and every day we just kept coming back to this place. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the food. It was a nice light lunch with coffee, a roll, quiche, or panini with small salad and shared treat. It is also away from crowds which was relaxing. I bought something in the gift shop behind as well. There are no toilets but public ones nearby.
