I've visited LO Lounge many times with friends in the summer as its a great little sun spot, with beautiful views of the bay. Came down for the fireworks display on Sunday, live Dj, keeping the kids and adukts entertained. Street food was tasty, we opted for Henc Burger as they had more vegetarian options but the Wing place looked real good too! The performance from "Amy on Fire" was so good!! Despite with how busy it was it didn't take long to get served at the bars. Baileys hot chocolate went down a treat, marshmallos, cream and loads of chocolate sauce 🤤, all the staff were in good spirits and very friendly despite how busy they all were. Already looking forward to checking out the Christmas events as I hear they go all out🎄 Dog & family friendly as well as a great spot to catch up with friends 😊 Thank you for a wonderful evening to all the staff and organisers of the event!

This place is also known as Lolounge but unable to leave a review under that name (I query why I am unable to leave under present name Extremely disappointing. We arrived on a cold Saturday afternoon and sat in one of the porta cabins as it was cold and windy. We were then abruptly told that we would have to leave that area as there was an event and if we wanted to stay we would each have to pay £10 The whole of the event area only had 5 people in when we left. (Surely it would have encouraged others to buy tickets for the event if there were people in the area) We sat around the corner outside the bar. I was extremely cold and ask the bar person for a blanket he said he would ask his manageress. He returned and said they had no blankets and would have had to charge me a deposit if they had given me one. I said I would be happy to pay a deposit (There were many blankets over the back of chairs inside. A young person who had been having their brunch walked behind the bar and picked up a blanket. (why was a refused a blanket and why was I lied to) I had recently come out of hospital and felt the cold why would staff at lolounge be so unkind as to refuse me a blanket The cocktails were also disappointing as even ordering some of the same drinks they were coming out different tastes and colours (long Island tea is definitely not blue in colour. We would not allowed to stay at the bar whilst they were being made as they said they were for table service yes a pint could be bought at the bar (that rings alarm bells as unsure what exactly they were putting in drinks I would strongly advise any one to drink else where they dont deserve your custom or their jobs "kindness costs nothing

I found this place which was recommended by a good friend and i have lived in Cardiff all my life and i never knew about this place i feel robbed. Now i have found this place i am a regular visitor. Dog Friendly, Staff Friendly, LOOK OUT SPECTACULAR, No wonder its called lo Lounge!!!! The New Decor has lifted and enhanced this beautiful spot. Its Great for all walks of life and there are not many places which can do that. If you want to watch the views inside or out you will lose track of TIME! you have been warned..... not a bad place to lose time and unwind. I wish the Team the very BEST and keep up the great work!

This looks like a great place for a night out, and the views of the bay are fabulous, however, this is the second time we’ve tried this place for lunch over the past few years, drawn in by the fact it’s dog friendly, and yet again the food choices are very limited and food is poor. The only real option today was ‘loaded fries’ which were definitely not loaded. Just fries in a foil tray with a few fish fingers / chicken goujons or pulled pork on the top (this was dry/no sauce). It’s such a shame but I think the venue is more geared up to being a night club rather than a cafe. We won’t be returning sadly unless it’s just for drinks.

The bar was understaffed, tge dj was repetitive, for a family event they were vague about when the fireworks happened which was 8.35pm and a 10min display from behind tge fencing next to the bathrooms. Not worth more than £5 for the fireworks and maybe another £5 for the view over the bay. I paid &£6 for a 30min display with a clear start time in Penarth the night before. Telling me that to get a seat turn up at 6.30pm and then wait till nearly the end of the whole evening was poor for a family event

The view is the only thing going for this place. The tables were run down and menus sticky and dirty. You have to order through an app but most of the menu isn't on there. The processco I ordered was warm and flat as the bottle had clearly been opened too long. However, when I told the staff member she was rude and dismissive rather than offering me a fresh glass or alternative. I really wanted to like this place because of the view and would have gone there regularly had my experience been more positive 😒

After a lovely long walk across the barrage and on our return journey we decided to stop here for some refreshments. The place has change its name slightly since the creation of this page and the decor has also changed but none the less it seemed inviting and welcomed dogs, as we and two very thirsty cocker spaniels needed a drink we walked in and found a table. Each table had a random board game on them which didn’t internet us but it was a nice touch. We ordered drinks from the app and I order a bottle of water so the dogs could drink, however, member of staff saw us sitting and brought two bowls of fresh water out for our boys. We thanked her and she checked if we had ordered drinks for ourselves, I confirmed we had used the app to do so. We only stayed long enough to consume our drinks and then carried on back to our car. Our short stay was lovely, music a bit loud for me but I wasn’t really bothered as we were leaving when the DJ started. We will stop here again definitely.

Lo Lounge review (previously look out bar): I’ve now been here on two different occasions in an attempt to give the place an honest chance. My overall impression is disappointment. The only thing the place has got going for it is the lovely view. The drinks are overpriced and not especially cold or tasty. If you’re feeling cold sitting you can have a blanket but only if you pay £5 for the pleasure, evidencing that customer comfort is not a priority but making money is. On my second visit we ordered brownies and hot chocolates/coffee. The coffee was poor quality and didn’t taste nice and the hot chocolate was neither good nor bad but the mug had a distinct smell of bleach ruining the hot chocolate. For the price paid it would have been nice to have cream on top. Finally we were abruptly told they didn’t have any brownies and that we had to choose other cakes, the cakes we ended up with tasted like they were shop bought and straight out of a fridge hence impairing the flavours of the cakes. I’m unsure of the vibe and atmosphere Lo Lounge are trying to go for, they were playing reggae music but the decor seems to be aiming for a Ibiza vibe, unfortunately the decor just looks slightly tacky and tired already. I’d avoid coming back for food, drinks or coffee but would come for the view.

We were all so looking forward to going to the Lo lounge, we’ve been many times when it was the lookout and had an absolute ball every visit, however this was a completely different experience altogether. When we arrived we signed in and was shown to our table. We decided to start with cocktails, so we started with the cocktail at the top of the list (Strawberry Daiquiri) costing £8.50. When they came, to our horror it was a strawberry flavoured syrup type drink, in a martini glass, Luke warm, with no ice. ( they said they were short on ice) We were told that’s how Lo lounge do there daiquiris, obviously we weren’t happy, so they said they would change them and try to do it how we wanted. They came back with the same disgusting syrup stuff in a long glass over crushed ice. we left it there and moved on...Next we decided to stick to shorts as we didn’t trust the way Lo lounge make there cocktails..2 Gin & tonicsVodka & cokeBacardi & tonicAs we were having singles I only ordered 2 tonics to share between the three of us.When the drinks came, they’d poured the two whole tonics in the gin and Bacardi and the second gin came in a shot glass! The excuse for this was because it was COVID there not allowed to bring the tonic bottles out because people share them!!!! Once again they changed our drinks to how we wanted them. The next round we ordered the same and I put in the “notes” section how we wanted our drinks, they came out fine.My friend then went to see what food was on offer and when she came back she said she saw a lady with a nice cocktail in a long glass, with fruit in it, so she asked the waitress. “What that cocktail the lady has?” A Daiquiri she answered very sheepish...obviously we weren’t happy that ours didn’t come out like that. The next thing that happened was unbelievable, the man who signed us in approached us and asked us to leave once we’d finished our drinks, we didn’t asked why, just said ok.We weren’t drunk and disorderly, and we’re not young ladies were late forties women, we just wanted our drinks how they were supposed to be, they cost enough! I think they just wanted us to put up and shut up.My parents were extremely good publicans for many years and I worked in every one of their pubs, I’ve never heard of asking someone to leave because there not happy with there drinks. What happened to the customer is always right?..We will never step foot in that place again and we will be telling everyone we know about our experience there.

I was surprised to find this place is so low down on TripAdvisor for Cardiff as I thoroughly enjoyed my evening here. Having read some of the other reviews it seems that The Look Out polarizes opinion. Cardiff is so full of chain restaurants now I wonder if people just aren't used to independent places where the service can be a little rough around the edges. On the evening I visited the service really couldn't have been any more attentive and the food and drinks were lovely. I was also quite taken aback by how pretty the Bay looked at night from the deck area outside. Can't wait to return in the summer and enjoy drinks outside.

We came here after a trip to the Doctor Who Experience and the proximity to that (next door) is one of the only good things I can say about this place. This place isn't bad, it's just not good. We had paninis and a pizza which were way over priced. The pizza was clearly a £1 frozen supermarket pizza, that they overcooked (it was very hard), and they charged around £8 for it! The paninis were really nothing special at all, and I eat them regularly from my local sandwich shop - maybe I've just been spoilt by fresh food... While I only had a couple of bites of my girlfriend's dessert, it did taste nice. This, the location, and the fact that it's a dog friendly cafe with a resident dog, are the only good points I can think of. The view is probably good on a nice day, but it was pretty wet when we were there, so couldn't particularly tell. I'm resisting giving less than 3 stars, but as I said, there are good points. But unless you just want dessert, or want somewhere to bring your dog, I really wouldn't waste your money on food here.

We had lunch here on a baking bank holiday, Cardiff Bay was packed so it was a bit surprising that we were the only people eating inside (other families were having drinks on the balcony and enjoying the lovely vista over the water). The place is quirky to the point of being muddled - the overall nautical theme was diluted by a soundtrack of 60s and 70s pop hits (Stars on 45!) - and the mains were definitely on the pricy side, for example £8.95 for a chilli con carne that came on a white school plate. Others have commented on the presentation and they're right. All that said, the food itself was really nice: my chilli was fresh tasting and had a good amount of heat; Mrs Welsh's ham and cheese panini hit the spot; and best of all, the daughter had a generous amount of good fishfingers in her sandwiches, plus juice and an ice cream cone for £4.95, having a good babble at the house dog all the while. The chips and the Reveller cider both went down well too. The young lad who served us was politeness personified.Given its prime location and rather confused message - is it an exhibition with a cafe bar attached, or a cafe with added boats? - this is the sort of place that someone like Alex Polizzi would tear her hair out about. The Look Out Cafe could potentially be a fabulous spot to eat and drink by the water, with some maritime memorabilia adding character. As it is, it's a nice cafe looking for a purpose in a (somewhat redundant) World Of Boats.

I love this place the view is amazing! The cafe is cosy and fab looking but the staff really need to smile and remember the nicer you are the more likely you'll have repeated custom. I personally feel the dog gives you more of a welcome.

I've only recently discovered this place, it's in a great location with an amazing view. The place has so much potential but I feel the café/restaurant lacks in some aspects. 1) the food is not amazing, it's not terrible but it lacks in quality and presentation. Additionally the price for food is quite steep considering most of it appears to be cooked from frozen. We've had the hotdogs on a couple of occasions with a side of chips which adds up to be around £20. Considering you only really get the hotdog and a few pieces of cucumber/lettuce and some crisps it's not great value. Also, I prefer not getting my condiments such as ketchup and mustard in small sachets I prefer bottles/jars. 2) Although the view is amazing, the service really really needs to improve. One would be very lucky to get a smile from any of the staff in here. The young boy working most weekends is pleasant but appears to be nervous (?) which in turn means he never smiles. The other staff really have no excuses for not providing outstanding service or at the very least smile. Also it would be nice to see the tables cleaned/wiped down a bit more often. 3) Dogs are welcome here - brilliant for some and quite charming in certain ways - however it does make me question the hygiene of the place. 4) On the upside there is a good range of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and as mentioned the view is lovely.

Situated next to the Doctor Who exhibition in the World of Boats walking around Cardiff Bay, stopped for a cup of tea and was made most welcome by the owner. Sat on the veranda over looking the bay. The pot of tea was good and a very reasonable price. Dogs are welcomed. Will certainly call again when visiting the bay..

Chose to visit here for lunch with friends after reading the reviews but was so disappointed. The cakes in the display looked dried out. The paninis were just ok, the presentation was bland, a bit of pale lettuce and cucumber, slice of tomato, dollop of cheap coleslaw. Definitely not good value! Nondescript service. To be honest the only good thing was the view of the bay.Sorry will not be returning not even for the view.

We booked a table here for after a World Cup match, not wanting to fight traffic out of the city - 100% on the trip adviser reviews. What a find, though we walked past it (somehow) in the evening dusk. When we phoned to ask where it was we were stunned to find the owner actually gave us not just instructions (we had gone past on the other side of the road) but actually came out to find us! For others - the entrance to world of boats (where the cafe is) is immediately to the right of the front of the Doctor Who Experience building. We're actually not too sure how we missed but the friendly staff made us very welcome. The menu is fairly simple - it is a cafe- however, it was really delicious and freshly prepared - but didn't take long to arrive and portion size was good. The outlook over the bay is wonderful and there are tables both outside and inside with an excellent view.

As a family we intended to enjoy coffee and lunch to watch the power boat racing and were made to feel very unwelcome. Very miserable serving staff who checked twice that we had all ordered drinks in order to sit at their wooden tables (where the miserable lady told one of our toddlers to stop standing on the bench! Unbelievable. The cafe clearly doesn't have that high standard as a dog owned by them was wandering around the food preparation are. Suffice to say, we moved on and enjoyed lunch elsewhere, where we were made to feel welcome. Never again!!!!

What awful service we recieved from the lady at the front desk. The blackboard should mention that families are not welcome as the owners are clearly irritated by young children. Unless you want a dog hair sandwich i would avoid at all costs!!

Although there are many restaurants around Cardiff Bay there are surprisingly few that are right on the waterside. The look Out Bar and Cafe has been a slightly hidden surprise, tucked away behind the Doctor Who Experience. It doesn't pretend to offer gourmet dining, but it does offer drinks (alcohol as well as coffee tea etc.) and a menu that offers decent wholesome food at a fair price. They are very flexible and can push tables together to accommodate quite large groups, and one night when I was there they had set up a buffet for one group of people. Because of its location it is quiet, apart from the occasional rib tearing round the bay - and their deck outside is one of the best places to sit and enjoy the sunset on a summer's evening.

This cafe bar is dog friendly which is an added extra. The owners dog Chico wanders around and is a lovely placid dog. They take both cash and debit card. There is always music playing which is relaxing and a nice volume to allow for conversation.Seating is available both inside and outside...the outside seats give a fantastic view of cardiff bay. What a fantastic relaxing place that I've been introduced to!

Came across this place after walking around and finding a lot of chain restaurants which we didn't really want. My friend and I had a pasta, bread and a bottle of wine, all of which were lovely. I thought it was well priced compared to some Italian restaurants I've been to recently. One thing, I've looked at its website and it doesn't show a menu. I'd like to bring some friends here but I know they'd like to see the menu first. I, however would definitely come here again.
