The Club House Bar & Restaurant Cardiff Bay in Cardiff

Went for a meal with the family. Had to wait 15 mins for a table as they wanted the theatre crowd to go but it was nice when we sat. Food beautifully cooked and tasty but could have been hotter. Every one enjoyed their meals so will be back.

Soulless chain bar. Drinks very expensive but quality of those drinks were quite poor. Cocktail tasted bad and wasn’t even garnished. Bad value for money and wouldn’t go again.

Our first visit, wasn’t very busy there but had a half hour wait for food. I had the hot board, the scotch egg and wings were amazing, the other items were on the cold side, congealed katsu sauce and luke warm hallomi is not good. The potato’s were far from crispy and on the cool side, the cheese hadn’t even started to melt! The vegan burger and seasoned fries were a poor looking serving for £15, the seasoned fries were not seasoned either. I was unable to complain at the time for personal reasons. The server was initially friendly and helpful, when I asked for the bill, another wait as he did other things before seeing to my request.

Food was very good and the service too, however we did wait a very long time for our food to come. With two hungry young children, it was quite difficult to keep them happy for such a long time!

Honestly it was very average. I've had lots of nice meals there and in Cardiff centre but on this occasion it was average and the service was average. It was a shame as it for a special occasion and the place tends to have a nice atmosphere

We went to this bar/restaurant today and it’s very beautiful inside but I had the worst cosmopolitan in my life, it tasted very bad and no design, like no salt, no lime!! And it’s pricey, I don’t mind to pay whatever for a cocktail if it worth it but it was really bad ! Not sure if I’ll be back to try some food later! Also they ask for credit card for online reservation, so in case you can’t go, they will charge for £20!! That’s ridiculous!

Very good service and front of house but pie with mash had cold mashed potatoes. Took ages to rectify so meal was taken off the bill but experience spoilt the evening.

Me and my family came for dinner last night just before show. Food been served quick and pleasant. We loved kebabs , which were so amazing and tasted so good!

Was really disappointed with a recent visit. We had Sunday roast. The portions were really small and the food wasn't the best of quality for the price you pay.

Gourgus food and very helpful staff, but I must say your menus are dark the lighting is dim so I struggle to reed it.

Restaurant upstairs with no internal disabled access. A lift was available further along the bay with a minor entrance to the restaurant, but we were unaware of that until after entering, so SHOULD be mentioned on the website. Food was a little slow being served, but apparently they were short staffed so this can be forgiven. When the food did arrive after a minimal delay, the hanging kebab was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and cooked to perfection with portions being ample but not overpowering. Service was excellent, but watch out for the addtional "service charge". Why not just include it in the meal price? Or are we allowed to serve ourselves and save 10%. Also, I didnt see it mentioned on the menu that this would be added to our bill at the end. The unadvertised lack of disabled access and unncessecary service charge is the only thing that stops me awarding this a full 5 stars. Excellent service, excellent food, excellent decor and setting - an almost perfect evening

We went for a birthday celebration and we all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The service was prompt and the location overlooked the bay, which is special. The bench seats were a little uncomfortable but they had large cushions. It's worth a visit.

Only called in for a quick drink. Took a long time to get served as there was a queue of cocktail customers but the place is nice and the staff were really nice. We'll be going there again.

We visited The Botanist in Cardiff as part of a birthday celebration. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the atmosphere in the bar downstairs.

Waited for 15mins in the queue for drinks - then bartender served someone else as ‘he knew what he wanted and it’d be quick’ Also pretty sure same bartender served someone very lumpy milk in a coffee 🤢

We had Sunday lunch, veggie option and roast beef. This is our second time visiting (last was Nov 23). Food was not as good as last visit. Beef was fatty and veggie wellington was tasteless. This is a same as we enjoyed the food at our last visit.

A great venue with a fantastic atmosphere, Jacob looked after our group very well, amazing service!

Our waitress was brilliant. All staff were helpful and friendly. Shame about the cold main meals & ridiculous dogs barking from other table throughout the whole meal. Pretty disgusting that they're allowed in a restaurant anyway! The only reason for 4 stars is because of the staff, they deserve a raise!

First visit and great kebabs and sides. Nice atmosphere and service faultless...would highly recommend.

We love celebrating as a family here at the club house. The atmosphere is great, decor is beautiful, the food is amazing and the staff are brilliant. I have highly recommend this venue since it opened in Cardiff bay and will continue too because the quality hasn't ever gone down. We can't wait to return.

I came here for NYE but only now got around to reviewing. The staff are amazing!! Probably the best customer service I've had in a long time. Everyone acknowledged us as we were leaving, very friendly and attentive. There was an issue with our dinner order, where we were left waiting for a long time, but they made up for it with a free round of drinks. When we had the food, it was worth the wait. Would definitely return.

A pleasant evening, very nice place and the staff is friendly and quick. We ate a well cooked kebab, very tasty. Obviously cold beer. Compliments.

Service was good. Food below average. Club Sandwich is described as “layered with classic chicken” which tends to mean freshly grilled but instead it’s some sort of cold chicken gloopy sloppy stuff.

Good Gluten Free options and handling. We were a big party and were looked after really well. I did find service at the bar a little slow but I was very happy with my visit.

Expensive for reheated frozen food

Booked the restaurant for an evening meal for 8 of us and cannot praise the staff enough. One of our party was delayed and they let us keep the table. Kept us in snacks and drinks whilst we waited. The food was delicious - calamari was so soft and the batter very light. We had a variety of kebabs, my lamb kofta one was delicious and they all came with loads of chips. The sourdough loaf with whipped garlic butter was to die for. We had loads of cocktails, wine and prosseco, 7 starters, 8 mains, 5 desserts and 3 sides all for just over £400 including the service charge; I was expecting it to be so much more. We weren’t rushed, had a wonderful server in Ashley, he interacted with us, made recommendations and we were never left waiting. We all agreed it was the best dining experience we’d all had in a long time and credit must go to the amazing staff here - thank you.

Lovely food, but the service leaves a bit to be desired. Table of 10, and ne starter completely forgotten which arrived 10 minutes later, a full pint of beer spilled over one of our party yet still added a 10% service charge to the bill….. VERY disappointing!!!!

My first visit but certainly not my last,the staff were friendly and helpful,service was quick food was tasty and plentiful.

Skewers are my fave here, however tried the Pie of the day (chicken and chorizo) which I love normally and this wasnt the best at all and the stuff on the top was nothing like mash! 🥲 halloumi fries were lovely and the cocktails 🍹 were stunning!

The service was slow waited at least 10m for drinks to be served , an extra beer was brought we advised we did not order the beer the waitress said oh you can have you wont be charged, no one drank the beer but we were charged, it was removed from the bill once we pointed it out. We had 3 children with us no kid's menu were provided we had to request. We were handed the menus but not advised what options were not available when we were ready to order non of our choices were available even the kids choices if we had known we wouldn't have booked there. When questioned if the head chef had forgotten to make an order we were told it was because it's the New Year. Beautiful deco but apart from that nothing would make us want to return.

We have booked New Year Eve event and there were services included in the package like drinks , but we had to wait for 45 mins and multiple reminders to the people serving there, Otherwise atmosphere was good.

Very basic food for the price. I am gluten free and the menu states “GF pie is always available”, but I was told that due to Xmas, it was not (it was the 29th December) so the menu is misleading. Subsequently, there were only 2 mains that were gluten free. I chose the chicken hanging kebab. My partner also chose the same. For £16 we got 3 pieces of chicken with some mushrooms and a bowl of chips. I’d have rather gone to Nando’s for this price and actually had something with more flavour. The waitress also started to become displeased with our food preferences and questions and at one point when we asked for mayo, she returned by flinging it across the table and walking away without saying anything. Needless to say we asked for the service charge to be removed given that there was no flexibility/compensation for my dietary requirement and poor/blunt service that accommodated that! Not worth the money, will not be returning.

Fantastic meal, quiet considering it was the last Friday before Christmas! Lovely interior, great food, the BEST garlic bread ever, friendly staff and really good service. Will be going back for sure!

We visited on Saturday for a Christmas lunch. There was 6 of us. We would have got a pre drink but there was only 1 person servicing so it was a little slow. We had a lovely round table with a view of the bay. We all enjoyed the food, the pate was really tasty and the Christmas kebabs were a nice change from usual Christmas meals. The staff were efficient and attentive. We’ll definitely be back again, thanks!

Been here a few times now, always a good experience, especially lovely this Saturday afternoon, very busy but even so the staff were incredible with my son (fussy eater) nothing was too much too ask, very attentive and understanding. The atmosphere and food amazing as always will be back again very soon!

Interesting restaurant, varied menu, pleasant staff, not the best table between the reception area and kitchen. A group behind us came in with a pram - no baby - a dog, amusing. We enjoyed the food and the Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was good.

Popped in on the off chance we could get a table of two. They were really lovely and said if we would have a drink first and we could get a table in half an hour. A busy Saturday, we thought fair enough. Had our drink and where show to a table shortly after. Our waiter was Cara I think it was, was phenomenal. She was so attentive and friendly, and recommended us great vegan choices, which was so nice for my partner who was a vegan. We passed our thanks on to the manager, Gary or Gareth who was pleasant and chatty. Thank you guys for a lovely winters lunch 👌

I had a lovely meal at the club house last night. The food was absolutely incredible, don’t miss this place!! The staff are very friendly, Jacob served me on the bar and he is honestly the very best bartender I’ve come across And thanks to Annies recommendation I had the best calamari ever! what an amazing restaurant :)

Clean, classy and clinical with lovely views - menu looked good did not stay for food, the waitress was both rude and unhelpful. Went to Dimirios instead where the atmosphere was warm, friendly, helpful and full of christmas cheer. When I explained we were on our way to the theatre, we were told the food would "come out when it was ready!" and when Mum asked for just a little ice we were told the quantity could not be measured !! All too much trouble ??? It was lunch time, so not busy. Never mind, plenty of other places to eat.

Wow, the food was absolutely delicious and our wonderful waitress Ghazal made our experience even better with her friendly and cheerful behaviour. We had such a joyful time!

Visited with friends over the weekend, cannot fault our experience and want to personally thank the chefs who cooked our delicious food! The team on the bar making beautiful cocktails and all the waitresses who looked after us all night. This time of year must be difficult for you all but I want to say thank you! Hadn’t seen my friends for a little while so was lovely to catch up, despite being busy we were never rushed or asked to leave the table, we drank (lots) laughed and had a perfect evening. Special mention to our server Aga (hope I got her name right) just going off the Bill we received at the end and Annie who was one of the managers on shift. There had been a few hiccups with timings with other tables around us, personally I would be very understanding as it is CHRISTMAS. Never the less, we had no issues with slightly longer waits but appreciated the gesture

Brilliant Meal on Saturday, could not fault the service! The lovely Manager was also very quick to ensure we were okay after a small wait for food. We were enjoying the atmosphere and having a good catch up anyway but appreciated the fact we were spoken too by a manager. Will definitely return soon! I can imagine summer on the terrace is a must

Very disappointed to have to write this. Extremely poor service and below average food. Maybe it was a one off bad evening as many other tables were unhappy and asking to speak to a manager. Waitress was friendly Food ( eaten here many times) but absolutely nothing like before. Chips were overdone, the kebab only had 4 bits of chicken on it. Dessert was ordered as we were starving and after waiting 25 mins, I chased up to be told the chef had forgot about us. Another table next to us had also got forgotten about. This was a night to try and celebrate something and we left frustrated and hungry.

Attended last night for my daughter’s birthday. Starters were ok . Mains, chips cold so sent back and the chicken in the kebab was totally raw. Shockingly raw! We were unable to eat as a family due to all the food coming at different times. Extremely disappointed and shocked at the lack of skill in serving raw food. Lady at table adjacent found plastic in her main meal! Although we were not charged for our meal we left feeling really unhappy as chose this place for my daughters bday and the evening was totally ruined!

We booked a table for drinks. We were about 15mins early. No one was on the door to great us and we had to wait 10mins at the bar while they tried to sort out which was our table. It was then pointed at ‘over there by the window’. Place is clean and the atmosphere nice with music. Wine was really expensive for the quality served (no Gavi, not a good picpoul or Albariño although all were £10+ a glass). We stuck to the Prosecco. It’s ok, but I wouldn’t rush back.

Whilst we felt the service was slow - between being sat and having drinks then catching waiter/rest attention was quite some time, the food when it came was beautiful. Therr eas 4 of us and the pork belly skewer was delicious, the pork crackling as a dish on own was best suprise as was plentiful and tasty.The hot board and began board were bug (though vegan meatballs weren't avaible). The hot board could have done with extra sauces for dipping as standar. The amount of food was generous. I'd come again, maybe not in the busy Christmas period though.

Second time at this restaurant and just as good as the first. Lamb Kofta hanging kebab was amazing. Great staff, don't rush you at all. Overall a wonderful meal.

The food and service were both good, however, what spoilt our experience was the wait to actually get our food. We were seated by 7:30 and didn't have our starters until 8:40, there was then another 45 minute wait between our starters being cleared and the main courses. As i say, whilst the food was nice, when people are hungry and waiting to eat that long it spoilt our evening. There was another large party sat next to us, who were having the same experience - ie looking at watches, asking where the food was etc. - I don't think the kitchen was staffed enough to cope with large parties aswell as usual tables wanting service.

The famous hanging kebabs were famously small, with a very small bowl of fries and no side salad. What was there was tasty enough. It was Friday afternoon and the temperature in the building was too low, I felt chilly as I ate by measly kebab.

This was my first time visting the club house, and I won't be returning anytime soon. The food was OK, it wasn't anything special. The service was horrendous, it took 45 mins for our starters to come out, no one came over and kept us updated, I appreciated it was a show in the theater but the restaurant didn't seem that busy, when we arrived there was hardly anyone there only a few tables where full, I booked the table for 5pm as I was attending the show, we left the restaurant at 7.20pm that's how long we was waiting for our food I just found the service extremely slow.

I was really impressed by the design. Fish was crispy and delicious. Beef was meaty and tasty too along with fries. order at bar. Great place quick service would highly recommend visiting

Our host and waiter were both second to none. We had the scotch egg and chicken wings and the portion size for the chicken wings was amazing. We both had the kebabs with grilled flat bread and it was all AMAZING!!! Absolutely loved our visit and we already can't wait to come back.

Beautiful setting very clean and comfortable. The service was great and we paid a high service charge on top of our bill. Lovely food and we were able to accommodate for our very picky daughter, her only complaint was there was no steak on the Sunday menu but she had a beef sirloin dinner which she enjoyed. Very filling Sunday lunches with a good portion size of meat. There was plenty of chicken for the starters too. Staff were great in bringing out the cake we had with us to celebrate my daughter’s birthday
