We were visiting Betwys Coed and decided to call in for a drink in the afternoon. Beautiful terrace and view. Decided to book for dinner. What a disappointment. 2 course £48 each. I opted for steak and was charged a further £6. Meal was adequate but no way worth the cost. When we booked they said they needed to see if they could fit us in. We had a reservation for 8.00 and when we arrived only 3 people in the restaurant. They left and then only another 2 couples arrived. No atmosphere and we felt we had been well and truly ripped off. We won’t be going there again.

Firstly, I must say that the quality of the cooking was 9/10. Unfortunately the place had zero ambience and was seriously over priced - over £220 for 2 courses for 2 adults & 2 kids, with one glass of wine for each adult. Further, we were sternly told how chef insisted on cooking our steak - irrespective of our wishes, and the staff knew precisely zero about the constituent elements of our meal (you'd think a waitress would know what vegetables came with which meal). 8 people in the restaurant all night meant that the staff were so 'over-run' as to be unable to come and talk to us or engage in polite conversation, or check whether we needed anything further. Go to the Ty Gwyn restaurant instead - less than half the price, brilliant service and 8.5/10 food -and 200 yards away to boot!

We visited the Riverside Restaurant for dinner. We were very satisfied with the food, both in terms of taste and in terms of dish presentation. Service was really good and the servers were very polite and attentive. It's a shame it was late, as we could not really enjoy the river views, but still the restaurant is very cozy! It is a bit expensive, maybe a bit more expensive that what you would expect, but still it is worth a visit!

We were recommended this restaurant by the staff at a neahotel that we were staying at. The setting is beautiful. The service first rate. All the food, starters, mains and deserts were fantastic APART from the two sirloin steaks that were very tough, which was a shame as everything else, particularly the Beef Wellington was Excellent. I would eat again and l a looking to stay at the hotel. I will be avoiding the steaks, they were poor !

We have eaten here 4-5 times and always have the same meal, the Beef Wellington plus maybe a starter and/or dessert. This year I started with a duck starter, which I was warned included beef, fair enough but the dish involved two 2 inch medallions of beef and 2 of duck. It looked and tasted nice but £9 is a stretch. Then came what used to be our favouritie, stacks of what used to be the most sublime beef Wellington you could ever taste, this year however it was covered in thick, over powering pastry and bland beef. "No worries, it's been a difficult year" maybe it's a staffing issue so I left half the meal and decided on the sharing platter for dessert. Two creme Brulee, two sticky toffee pudding, two brownies and ice cream. Creme Brulee was nice, the pudding was neither sticky nor toffee, at a guess I would say it was a ginger cake, the brownie I could not even cut. This little 'treat' was £23. Staff great, location great, food average and over priced. I might try it again in a few years just to make sure although there is a growing list of 5 star restaurants around..

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and had 3 breakfasts and 2 dinners. The dinners were excellent , with a varied, and excellent, menu and wine list. The chef is obviously well above average in our opinion. The restaurant is in a beautiful location with great views of the river and extensive gardens. There is also a nice bar and outside seating. The 'full Welsh breakfast' was really good, and there was also a good selection of cereals, fruit etc.Can definitely recommend this restaurant.

Visited for afternoon tea and decided to go with the luxury afternoon tea at £38 for two. We were offered the choice of reading in the dining room or bar and as it was quite we choose the bar to enjoy the comfy seating and fantastic views of the garden and river. The afternoon tea consisted of a salmon and a ham open sandwich each, Barra brith, Welsh cakes, scones with ham and cream plus a selection of further cakes. For my own personal preference I would have preferred an extra sandwich and a cream cake less, but everything served was delicious. We couldn't manage it all, so what we couldn't manage was wrapped up for us to take home to enjoy later. Staff were friendly and attentive, my only point for improvement would be that when the background music stopped, it wasn't started again and thus made it very quiet being the only two people in the bar. That aside excellent location and views, good staff and, most importantly, lovely afternoon tea.

We were staying at the Waterloo hotel just down the road so thought we would go upmarket for Saturdays evening meal. We called and booked a table for 8 pm. Arrived at 7pm and had a drink in the bar and we seemed to be looked after well with the young lady behind the bar advising she would make the restaurant aware we in the bar. At 8pm the bar girl delivered us a menu and at 8:20pm someone took our order and asked if we would prefer to wait in the bar a little longer. No we booked a table for 8 pm so requested to join our table. We ordered some wine then realised no side plates so probably no bread, we asked for bread and it arrived ok but it was three slices and some butter in a soup bowl so obviously not normally offered and we were charged £1.70 for it. Not the cost a problem but it was not offered. We both ordered the Thai crab cakes as a starter and they were good. I ordered the special Shin of Beef Wellington duo pan fried medallion of welsh beef fillet medallion of beef it was not, it was a thin slice of beef and the sauce was overpowering and far too rich. My wife had trio of lamb and that was very nice. For desert we had cheese to share but unlike what we had seen others have we did not get a nicely sliced apple or a nice chutney. We had the ends of the cheese with more rind than cheese no apple and a tomato relish in a jar, tomato relish with a cheese board...come on. I was feeling as though we were last in the restaurant and anything would do. I am not the right person to do that too. All in all we spent £122 for two and didn’t feel we would want to repeat the event.

For most most things, it's a 5. For value for money for a beer drinker, it's 1. So we've averaged out at 3.Absolutely stunning location. Large outdoor river side area in a very calm and tranquil setting.Inside appeared to be recently fitted out to a high standard. We didn't go into the restaurant, but from outside it was glass covered balcony overlooking the river and I can image extremely impressive to eat in.Although not hungry, we always look at the menu and thought there were some reasonable offerings at gastro pub prices (14-20 per main course). It was too early in the day to party, but of course looked at the cocktail menu. Again, interesting options at reason prices (£6-9).However, all we wanted was a couple of beers so ordered two pints of Amstel.Well... £11.50, after I've finally finished crying, I'm still trying to comprehend how anywhere in North Wales can charge £5.75 a pint! (especially when 10 minutes walk away at the desirable Royal Oak a pint of San Miguel costs just £3.80 a pint).A real shame as it is somewhere we would love to return to but, if we do, we certainly won't be drinking the beer!!!

Wandered up the drive for lunch after we found that the nearby pub wasn’t open at lunchtime. Beautiful spot for lunch sitting outside on the deck overlooking the river and garden. The menu was a lunch menu rather than a full one but there was enough choice and it was all freshly cooked - even if it that did mean a bit of a wait, which wasn’t a problem as we were enjoying relaxing. Answer was a categoric no. So to lesson the embarrassment I bought half a cola £2.10 and we sat on the patio area. I can say the outside is falling to bits, decking and hand rails are rotten, fag ends all over the place, patio furniture next stop the tip, roof under veranda falling off, paint work bad. We have had a lot of birthday meals here for various family meals but after last night we can truly say as locals we will not be returning. First of all the meal we could not fault ( until ruin by the screaming child ) The food was to perfection. A couple members of staff could of been a bit more welcoming and hospitality lacks in quite a few areas. After starter and main down we just received the desert menus when all hell broke loose with the screaming child. The dining area was full so the best results would of been to remove the child but we ended up removing ourselves. After eating our desert in the bar and paying at the reception along came the father and screaming child being carried like a rag doll with him not handling the situation by putting the child ( age between 2/3 ) outside in the dark and screaming at her that he would leave her outside !!! Bad Parenting !! After a phone call this morning just to say maybe the situation could of been handled a bit better ( dining area full of guest ) we were told that they were paying guest ???? Is that not we are also by dining there ??? Never to return.

This is a beautiful hotel due to the location. We went in for tea and coffee and the entire hotel seating area was completely empty. There was not one single guest or customer in any area of seating. We wanted to sit in the very large (and totally empty) dining area because it is this area which has the stunning views. The woman working at the hotel's main desk said that she would not let us sit in the dining area because she was expecting hotel guests to be down for their breakfast. It was 10.40am. The dining room was totally empty. There was not one single guest in there nor did any guest arrive for their breakfast whilst we were in there, which was almost one hour. Even if guests had been down for a (late) breakfast, there would still have been more than enough room. There are numerous tables in there. In fact, we were made to feel extremely unwelcome altogether, as though coming in for tea and coffee was simply too much trouble for this hotel. It is a shame because the customer service in every other place we visited in Betws y Coed was particulary excellent and courteous.

I can’t believe this lovely riverside restaurant has such a low ranking. We thought it was superb for its food and ambience. It is classy without being stuffy. A good choice for coeliacs like me, the staff understand about gluten free as a necessity rather than a fad and are happy to discuss and adapt dishes accordingly. Nice touch to have a little cup of asparagus soup as an amuse bouche. Our starters were good and well presented - leeks with cheese and bacon sauce with a poached egg, and home smoked chicken breast served with tomato confit, quail rissole (mine gluten free) & garden micro herbs. Mains were full of interest - pork escalope with wild garlic sauce, king prawns in a spicy tomato sauce, and chicken breast stuffed with feta & spinach. No room for dessert!Riverside location is lovely, the restaurant extension light and airy, tables well spaced and friendly and efficient service. This was our favourite meal during our one week tour of Wales. It will be top of our list next time. Our only suggestion would be to get some bottled craft beers and ciders to supplement the standard handpumps.

I'd booked a table for 7.30 pm and arrived at 7.10 pm to be told that we wouldn't be able to eat at 7.30 pm because a group of six had arrived late and the chefs could only cope with 4 people's orders every quarter of an hour. At 8.05 pm we were eventually taken into the restaurant where the group of six were conversing loudly. So much for a quiet intimate dinner for two! A veloute was produced and quickly followed by our starters. The main course of shin of beef tartlet was really a pie with undercooked salty pastry. This was mentioned to the waitress who said the restaurant manager would be fetched, but who never appeared. We left soon after, rather fed up with the whole experience and the evening spoilt. Prices for both of us for starter and main was £55. Food portions are huge which was surprising and you can see chef preparing the food there and then. My only issue was one of the two chefs (not one doing our food or I would have left) was seen wiping his nose or tasting food then handling it again before washing his hands.

Accept dogs with good walking in the grounds. The location is lovely, by the river. Lacks small touches to make a perfect visit but would recommend a stay.

Visited here on our visit to Llandudno. We had coffee and cake. The cakes were delicious and a large portion. It’s a very clean cafe. The staff were very friendly. I would highly recommend this cafe. The other food looked very tasty too.

Visited this lovely little garden centre today with my hubbie, sister and brother ( plus 1 very old doggie). Had a lovely lunch, portions were large and lovely, we all struggled to finish our meals. We had already seen the homemade scones and cakes on our way in, so decided to ask for them as a takeaway. The scones were massive and so nice, struggled to eat it 3 hours later. Lemon drizzle cake and Victoria sandwich also got great reviews from the others. The staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit to this dog friendly cafe and also to potter around the garden centre, so glad we stopped here.

We decided to book for dinner as other restaurants in the area that we wanted were booked up. So glad they were, food was amazing, staff really friendly, great ambience, had a lovely evening.

Ended up here after a theatre show. There was only a small selection of sandwiches but I enjoyed mine and the coffee was good. The staff were lovely. It's basic, it isn't cheap but it was OK.
