The only positive i have is that the Setting is lovely . We arrived to only a couple of customer’s in the restaurant, after prdering we waited well over half an hour for a roast and a lasagne if thats what you could call it . Something thrown together and looked like it was reheated in the microwave, inedible, For such a pricey menu i expected more . Really disappointed customers.

Lukewarm Sunday lunch. £30. Disappointing lunch. At the VERY least serve it hot. No pride taken at all. I'd be embarrassed to send that out of a kitchen. Thought they'd missed my roast potatoes off, but they were there disguised as mushrooms.

Very poor awful service, only 2 people serving on a Saturday afternoon. Very overpriced and food is poor. Tal Y Cafn is located with beautiful views across the Conwy estuary. There is a good sized car park there and the railway station is 2 minutes away. Inside there is a feel of being in a barn at the bar to modern relaxed in the restaurant. Add in a log fire in the winter and it works well. We had a meal and I had the Moo and Blue, steak pie and blue cheese. With a thin pastry it was so tasty. Service was excellent and prices comparable with anywhere these days. Definitely worth a visit

Came here 2 yrs after my last review (we have been over the last 2 yrs but only for drinks) for their Spanish Tapas Night. The first thing I will say is there are new staff/owners and the food was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, so tasty and well presented. Now for the bad, 6 dishes for £25 each. However, my wife only wanted 4 (she didn't like 2 of the options). So she asked if she could have extra of 2 of the 4 dishes she was having, and that did happen on the Patatas Bravas, but nothing else. I will add talking to the waitress and explaining that, took her by surprise, and she didn't know how to deal with that. I had the full 6 but we were surprised to find that some of the dishes were a sharing dish (small portions at that), and some were individual, but for the price not worth it for portions size. I raised the issue with whom I believe to be the manager, and he said he took on board the comments, one dish of manchago cheese (really, really small portion) with i think a jam. we were given one dish of the prawns in garlic sauce, which was 3 prawns each, but I let the wife have that as she didn't have the cheese yet a couple that ate after us starting the meal were given individual portions 😗😗 then we got 3 dishes of the Patas Bravas, (extra one for the wife) and that portion was a good size TBH. Then pork meatballs, 2 in one dish, which is an individual size, but i believe they classed as sharer (one ball each wow). Then a chicken dish each (so again, why 2 portions when the pork meatballs were just 1 dish. Finally, 2 dishes of the paella, seafood for the wife, chicken & chorizo for me. The manager wasn't sure about how the dishes were being served, i.e., sharer or individual, not good. We left feeling let down with the service, but let me state again, the food 100% the best we've had from there, and we are local. Another option they didn't do was offer a pairing wine to go with the dishes that we definitely would have taken up, so loss of a sales point there. We will be back more regularly but only to have the general food, not a themed tapas type night, sorry.

Food & The Service to be honest is diabolical! To charge such prices on food you would expect good quality , homemade hearty dishes, not cooked from frozen garbage. The Hayloft in Bodnant or The Ty Gwyn in Rowen minutes away are way above the tal y cafns standard's! Had seen lots of positive posts about vegan options and roasts so came here on the way home from a weekend away for my husbands birthday. There was a vegan menu which seemed promising so ordered the frickles to start and a shakshuka and a vegan burger for a main. The frickles were really over cooked and very greesy. The salad underneath was soggy with greese too so very unpleasant. The shakshuka was really bland but was more like a bean stew. The bun on the burger was hard and I sent it back to be told that that’s what vegan burger buns are like. The next bun came and was ok but the burger was again, really greesy and tasteless and unpleasant. The colslaw was bland and the chips weren’t great. The person serving us didn’t ask how our food was when we paid and all in all it was very expensive for one of the worst meals I’ve had out for a long time. Very disappointing. Service was slow and sloppy. Such a shame, we live nearby and had been looking forward to coming for food.

We were looking forward to a family lunch, but waited 20 minutes before we were even given menu’s and an order for drinks - and then nearly an hour and a half for our food to arrive once ordered! We didn’t even wait for the dessert menu, as we didn’t want to wait any longer. Absolutely disgusting service, bearing in mind we had 2 bored children, a dog who was obviously fed up with sitting for so long, and a baby who wouldn’t settle for the same reason. Disappointing! We came here for dinner. We waited 15 minutes for drinks but we’re offered tap water to drink while we waited (woozy doo!). We waited over an hour for food despite plenty of empty tables. Service was so-so not really made to feel welcome. The food was average overall. Unappetising chips, nice mussels, Indian lamb koftas were dried up over cooked. We didn’t bother with desserts. For the price, I would expect much better. On the plus side, there is a nice ambience with diners spread out. Carpets are laid in most areas which deadens echoes so make a tranquil ambience. Looking at other reviews maybe we were unlucky…

Visited the Tal-y-Cafn for a nice meal and drink in the bar area. The food was bang average. I’ve had better food at weatherspoons and paid half the price. We have visited the bar a couple of times before but haven’t had food so thought we would try it and we will not be returning. We paid £100 for 2 meals and a couple drinks. We ordered starters which were £8/£9 each to only have 2 mouthfuls of burnt sausages with no sauce which is what it states on the menu. For main course we both had a burger. The beef burger was a good size but the meat was not butcher style meat and was definitely frozen. For the price of £22 I would have expected better quality. The chicken burger, also a good size, was over cooked. The chicken was fried to an inch of its life. Although the portions were good, I would have preferred to have smaller portion but better quality food. Not one member of staff came to check if everything was okay with our meal and when ordering a second round of drinks, staff forgot and we waited a while for them to be brought over. The drinks were lovely, just a shame the young lad behind the bar that took our order was not welcoming or friendly in the slightest. Cold, blunt and looked like he didn’t want to be there made us feel uncomfortable. All of this is such a shame when the look of the place and the decor throughout is appealing and well done, just unfortunate that the staff and food quality doesn’t match the prices or standard that anyone should expect when paying for a service.

Very poor. Endured boeuf bourguignon with no boeuf that was basically nice chips and gravy (the 1 star was for the gravy). I asked where the veg was (it hadn't arrived) and the lad told me he thought the description referred to the veg in the stew. 'Three pieces of carrot? Surely not....' A few minutes later the lovely waitress (manager for the night) brought myself and the lady (also a bourguignon sufferer) next to me the veg in a bowl as they'd forgot to put it on the plate. Can only assume it was frozen as my cauliflower was so cold it made my teeth hurt. The couple next to me complained about their meal and the manageress followed the 'policy' of taking off 10% - £1.40 - and the price of one drink (the maximum she was allowed to remove). I won't be going back.

If you want vastly overpriced food with cheaper ingredients and slow service, this is the place for you! We went and paid stupid amounts of money for food that was clearly cheap ingredients. We left before our mains arrived because the starters were that bad…and after 2 hours of waiting the mains still hadn’t arrived. The kids food was burnt and inedible. AMAZING and a big shout out to staff member Jess. We checked in for our stay extremely last minute as after a long 7hr drive we arrived at a holiday park and instantly checked out (that’s another story) After some panicking this was the first hotel we found in the location we wanted. I called and Jess answered, she was so accommodating and gave us the good news. There was space for 2 adults and 2 children :) We were shown to the Snowden studio which was sheer luxury. The attention to detail in the apartment was outstanding. It was clean and had everything we needed, even with the added bonus of a hot tub. It felt like home and made us very happy. After a long and stressful day it’s what we needed. Jess quickly made the room up for us while we had some drinks at the bar. She bent over backwards for us, the service was brilliant. It was the best nights sleep and waking up to a view of the mountains was something else. We had the added bonus of breakfast each morning which was included in the price. Breakfast was lovely and we had no complaints. The bar/restaurant is cosy, warm and has such good vibes, a real country feel to it. It’s a common theme throughout with its high standards. The location was perfect and is a short drive to the historic seaside towns. We stayed for 2 nights and I wish it could have been more, we even got a small discount on the room rate which helped us out after loosing all that money on a holiday village which we were glad to see the back of. We will deff visit again, outstanding is an understatement. Thank you to all the amazing staff who excel in customer service. Please book this gem of a hotel if you want a relaxing getaway.

My cheese and onion pie was luke warm and the cheese had congealed and was hard and inedible. The peas were also cold but the chips were red hot so I'm assuming my meal had been plated up and left until the chips were cooked. Another member of our party ordered fish and chips and the fish was massively overcooked and the batter was virtually black in one corner. It was also inedible. Another member of our party said her chicken was extremely dry. Overall the main courses were very disappointing.

Just visited the restaurant for lunch. Decor is modern but not cold. It is very dog friendly with sales of various types of dog food and treats so your dog will not be left out. However, the service was very slow and my wife had to get up to find someone when we wanted additional drinks. The waitress was nice but I think it was just understaffed or other staff were not supportive to her. My father in law chose well with the fish and chips, my wife ordered sea bass but missed that the menu stated it was served with lardons which the waitress kindly had the dish changed as my wife is pescatarian. Unfortunately, I chose lasagne, which is to be avoided as a third of it was inedible due to being so overcooked I couldn’t get a knife or fork into it, the rest was just dry. All three of us had a couple of drinks and just main course but for £95, frankly there are plenty of other pubs and restaurants in the area that care far more about the food served to their customers. To sum up, nice place but I won’t be returning.

Served by Maniya who was fabulous! Nothing was too much trouble. Listened to the children and asked them about their holiday. Shared ideas and recommendations of places to visit 10/10 to maniya alone! Food was above average. The decor was rustic and contemporary - very classy. Good pinot grigio and Madri lager. Kids food was OK

The Tal Y Café Restaurant...Top! What else should you write here? The restaurant is absolutely tasteful, stylish, chic, clean. The service friendly and attentive. The menu is varied. The food was brilliant. The price-performance ratio is right. This quality should be rewarded. You can read the current bill at the table using a QR code. Payment is also possible this way. Brilliant. And finally: We were allowed to spend the night in the parking lot with our campervan. The homepage of this hotel offers a special page for us campervans to register for an overnight stay. If you consume something here, the overnight stay is free. What a service. An absolute recommendation!

Excellent food. Staff could not have been more helpful. We have two dogs, one extremely reactive and they moved our table to accommodate us. A simple question about a potential road closure resulted in an unprecedented level of helpfulness - Google searches, website addresses etc to help us. The food was absolutely delicious and they were able to advise and accommodate one member of our parties food intolerance .

Unfortunately had a terrible experience here - we were served RAW chicken in our chicken burgers. The chicken wasn’t even slightly undercooked, it was totally pink inside. Felt extremely sick afterwards and ruined what was supposed to be a lovely day out! Will never be returning and unfortunately will be warning people before coming here. If you’re looking for a nice pub lunch I certainly wouldn’t be coming here.

Came here on good Friday, booking 3 adults one child, restaurant probably less than half full. What follows is hard to write as some members of staff were genuinely lovely and helpful, but overall it was a terrible experience for a place that has pretensions, but sorely let's itself down. We were sat down and a helpful waitress took our drinks order. I ordered a soda with lime, drink came without lime. It wasn't to be a one off. When we ordered 2 starters, we were kindly offered the childs main to arrive same time so he didn't have to wait. We waited and waited and eventually the starters arrived, without the childs main. When we chased it up it finally arrived - with the wrong side. After an hour we called a waitress over to enquire about our mains as we'd been in over an hour by this point. At this, the waitress looked annoyed at us, then told us she'd check what time we'd ordered. Apparently she didn't believe us? To make it worse when she checked the computer till nearby, she didn't come over and apologise. This wasn't even a busy restaurant and there appeared to be plenty staff. Mains arrived and, of course, the order was wrong. Now at this point things take a turn for the worse. She was told she'd ordered the last portion of beef, and when it arrived the gravy wasn't on the side. It was taken away and brought back apparently fresh a while later - so where did they get the beef? Was it rinsed and pit back on the plate? This is actually worrying as it indicates a worrying possibly vindictive approach to food hygiene. The meal was brought back apparently freshly cooked. The Yorkshire pudding had a layer of what I hope was cooking oil sloshing around in its base. I tried it and gagged. It was that awful. I'd love the cctv of me taking that mouthful. I kept it to myself, I didn't want to upset my parents any more. For a place that feels confident enough to charge over £50 for a steak, it was just appalling. These complaints were raised and some members of staff were brilliant, they were apologetic, a round of drinks and deserts were supplied, but all in, what can I say. We were in there nearly 3 hours. Orders were wrong, food was varying in quality, and whilst some staff members are professional and friendly, others need reminding that when someone says we've been waiting over an hour, it's traditional to say something along the lines of, "I'm really sorry let me look into this for you" not scowl and mutter about checking the exact time we ordered. It took others to apologise on her behalf. Basic stuff. Food quality and attention to detail was inconsistent at best... Really sorry to be writing this as it's very rare I one star a venue. I have tried to balance this with praise where praise due. There are some genuinely lovely members of staff who were apologetic and helpful. After a 3 hour lunch, we wearily made our way out.

It was good to see the pub had reopened as we had not visited for quite a long time. The food was very good, I just failed to give it 5 stars as I left the batter from my fish as it was undercooked/soggy. When I mentioned it to the young waitress her reply was simply, “I’ll let them know”.

Went here for an evening meal whilst staying in Conwy for our MiniMoon. When we walked in it looked lovely. It seems very popular for people at the bar and eating in. Now the food. Omg. The best seabass dish I have ever had. Utter perfection. My partner loved his lasagne dish aswell. The cocktails were fab. The Desserts were good however I was disappointed with my fudge cake, it was quite tasteless and plain. Definitely wouldn't have called it luxury or indulgent. However overall it was a fantastic place and I would recommend anyone to eat here. Good service, lovely staff. Amazing food.

Started so well a lovely gentleman barman met us at the door whisked us round to the bar, fetched a dog bowl a blanket with no request he was really lovely chatty and helpful we stayed for another couple of drinks then sadly it went down hill I went to the waitress to ask if she could order me a taxi home to be told they don’t do that so I asked for any numbers as I am on holiday so not local she game me a number of a taxi firm that was already closed! She then said to me if I was staying at the hotel she could have booked for me which made me 100% feel that eating & drinking wasn’t enough to warrant a phone call which is outright insulting! So sadly although we looked through the lovely menus while enjoying drinks to come back tomorrow we won’t be and certainly won’t EVER be staying at the hotel! Sad when one staff member misses the customer service class and can ruin such a lovely couple of hours. Obviously I wouldn’t recommend to anyone at all!

Came here recently with my family , lovely place , staff are excellent couldn’t fault them , one of the servers didn’t get her name was brilliant with my little ones asking constant questions, price is fine for the quality of food you get , however the portions need looking at , had the trio of meats (Sunday roast) and barely anything thing on it , smallest amount of red cabbage and two roast potatoes, and half a carrot! Other than that food was excellent.
