Stopped in her for lunch on our walk to Conwy. Lovely restaurant and views. The food was mediocre if I'm honest and my wife's fish tacos were utterly tasteless. I guess you are paying for the views as the food is average to say the least based on our choices!

A fabulous little gem, and a great team who clearly work well together. Our first experience was to just pop in, have a drink, and take in the surroundings. We went back for lunch the following day, as Tracey and the Team were extremely polite, friendly and very professional. Our lunch choices were . . . . for my husband the battered cod, I had the haddock topped with Welsh rarebit, which we swapped a bit of each others, and were amazed at both the quality and the flavour of our dishes. We have travelled a fair bit, and are real foodies. My husband also used to be a Chef, so we have high standards and high expectations. Although the Team had changed from the previous day, their professionalism still shone, and it's clear they take pride in their work, and like to ensure their patrons to have a great experience. We were back there for evening dinner on Thursday, and we skipped the starters as we are unable to manage 3 courses. My husband had the monkfish, and I chose the chicken, which both dishes were outstanding. We shared a cheese board to finish off, and the selection was ample for 2. Antonio and front of house were simply brilliant. I thoroughly recommend you try the experience for yourselves, as you are guaranteed complete satisfaction. Thank you to the Front of House Team, and of course Chef and his Team, as one does not work without the other.

Beautiful place but food in the restaurant was very disappointing and certainly over priced for what was presented. I also felt rushed, we booked the early bird dining but the restaurant was empty at that time and not over busy later on so no need to rush us. When the main meal arrived i asked them to give us 10 mins we had only just finished the starter!! When the main meal came back it had obviously just been sat on the side somewhere and re presented, wasn't hot, dont think it was even re heated because it was a reheated meal already!!! Definitely not freshly cooked! It was bland nothing special at all.... very disappointing

We visited this place for the second time, but it was disappointing. The waiters seemed confused, even though the place wasn’t full; only 5-6 other tables were taken. They served us a starter which we didn’t even order, and all of the food was unsalted and half-cooked. No, I wouldn’t recommend it, except for the sticky toffee pudding, which we didn’t order this time. We didn’t want to stay any longer.

Best meal we've had for a long time. Mitch, the waiter, was so good in helping us making this a great experience! We were going to dine elsewhere on the following day, but have decided to have another meal at the Ebb & Flow. Tasty local food and drink (Tan Lan bread, Wild Horse IPA, cheeses etc.

Been here before, had an amazing meal. So came again today for New Years Day with family, as soon as we walked in they told us there was a time restriction, there was a limited menu, half of the things we wanted on the menu wasn’t available. Not a great experience ended up leaving and going somewhere else. Won’t be going again.

Food just fine. But the service, oh dear me. So bad. Returned for dinner after a successful lunch the day before. We had to be out by eight after our 630 arrival. Okay no problem at all. It took 15-20 mins to order drinks and our main course. The foods good. There’s not much of it but it’s good. I had my lamb on a black plate- you can’t see the sauce🤷🏻♂️. That’s my problem. The wine we had, delicious. We ordered coffees. Then watched for over 20 mins as staff walked past us. 8pm approached. Coffees arrived after 8, I sent them back and asked for a bill, pleased to have someone to talk to on the staff. The lady maitre d who had stiffly warned us about the deadline then ignored me as I waited at the bar to pay the bill. That was the negative theme of the evening. Unimpressed. Sad, as the venue and food are good.

Greeted nicely at the restaurant door but that's where it ended! we were seated & left. They came back for the wine glasses & we were told we would be asked for a drinks orders. After numerous requests for our drinks order to be taken we were very rudely told to sit & wait. We waited & waited over half an hour & still nothing & not even our food order was taken let alone drinks. We went to the bar area & was told there is no bar service & that we would be served at our table. In the end we walked out & went to another restaurant. This was supposed to be a nice treat for my husband 50th birthday that night! Going bother going!

This is the restaurant at the Quay Hotel. We’ve eaten here several times over the years, usually when we’ve stayed at the hotel. It’s one of the better places along the coast – although it’s fair to say that the area is not well endowed with good places. It’s a bright room with efficient serving staff who have a ready smile. To start, a couple of koftas were made from Welsh lamb. A bit dense in texture, they tasted fine. They sat on a mini naan and dabs of mango chutney and a yoghurt and mint dip decorated the plate. Soup of the day was vegetable and was well made, although there had been an assertive hand with the salt. That hand had also been near a samphire, spinach and sumac risotto, otherwise nicely made and very tasty. It was topped with a perfectly cooked fillet of sea bream. Chicken breast was enhanced with a rarebit topping and a sprinkle of breadcrumbs. There was a little spinach, shreds of courgette and a portion of dauphinoise potato. An Indian spiced potato and onion seed bhaji tasted OK in itself but was just completely out of place with the other elements. Just an odd decision to put it on the plate. We finished with good espresso which came with a small piece of lovely flapjack.

We were staying in the hotel and booked a table for 2 in the Ebb and Flow restaurant. We were seated then given the wine menu and immediately asked for our drinks order, we asked for 5 minutes to choose a wine from the menu and the waiter seemed annoyed by this. He came back and we ordered our drinks. A waitress then brought the food menu and we ordered. Starters arrived really quickly and were ok. They took the plates for the starters and immediately brought the mains without a break between courses. The mains were terrible. No one asked how our meal was. We left the mains and the waitress took the plates away. We asked for the bill and were brought the dessert menu. We then sat for around 20 minutes before another pair of dessert menus were brought out. I asked to charge the meal to the room. The waitress disappeared again and we were left guessing what to do. No one asked us how the meal was. I mentioned it to the person working behind reception when we checked out and he shrugged his shoulders. Great view, bad food and terrible service.

Had dinner in the restaurant two evenings whist staying at the hotel. Food was well cooked and presented but needed a bit more imagination to elevate it to be better than average. Good service uped the rating a little although the entrance to the restaurant is through a busy bar area which does not give an inviting feel to the begining of the experience. There is another entrance direct into the restaurant but this is not used; it would be so much better were it to be. The restaurant has a reasonable wine list.

On Saturday, we ate a snack at The Cove in early afternoon: olives & dipping bread, plus salmon with dill mayonnaise & accompanying salad & coleslaw. We were sitting at Table 40, but the waiter was convinced that we were on Table 46 & put the order in for that table, although I did tell him Table 40. We also ordered a lager & a Fevertree lemonade, both of which were very acceptable. However, when it came to replenishing these, it was Fevertree Lemon Tonic which was delivered rather than the lemonade which I'd ordered. I decided to take that rather than cause a problem for the same waiter who had earlier got the Table number wrong. On Sunday evening we were booked at the Ebb & Flow restaurant for Dinner. We ordered a bottle of Rioja for my husband, and a Virgin Mojito for me. We also asked for Sparkling water but were brought a metal jug of table water, but I didn't like to complain as we were served by the same waiter who had brought the wrong soft drink on Saturday. (Halfway through our meal, he came back & said "You asked for Sparkling Water, I've just remembered, I'm sorry." but he didn't offer to bring sparkling water, and I just shrugged.) As I have a lactose intolerance I struggled to find an "exciting" starter (rather than the Soup) without butter/cream/cheese etc so asked what the Vegan "Seatin" starter consisted of: the same waiter as above was unable to help me with this, even though he went to the kitchen to find out, so I chose it anyway as an "adventure". The "Seatin'" turned out to be a vegan vegetable & soya protein flour sausage: interesting but a strange texture. The accompanying brunoise tomato was rather tasteless, although the other accompaniment was fine. The Creamy Salt Cod Fritters chosen by my husband were very tasty. My main course was the Lamb Rump with blackcurrant jus, which was tasty, but the green mint "gel" was very bland and the jus was just a dribble on the plate: the broccoli & carrot served on the same plate were crunchy & tasty. However, there was no potato/sweet potato with it - should it have had a dauphinoise or similar which could have been substituted with new potatoes? My husband's beef & pie with chips was very acceptable, although again the gravy was sparingly dribbled on the plate. Our dessert choices were ordered: I chose the Grignotte Cherry dessert & Cherry Sorbet, my husband, the Cheesecake. The waiter suggested that he didn't think the Cherry Sorbet complemented the dessert & he would like my opinion afterwards. I suggested at the time that Cherry Sorbet with a Cherry Dessert sounded well-matched. After waiting a good 25-30mins our puddings had not been served: a large party of 8-10 had all had Mains cleared & their puddings served, so we eventually asked another server who went to check. She returned & apologised as apparently there was an issue with the computer system & our order hadn't been registered. She had then ordered it, and another male server asked were we still waiting for our dessert? Once it arrived (very quickly!) both desserts were lovely: the Cherry dessert particularly was delicious and very well balanced. As we left the restaurant, we went to sit in The Cove; we saw the original waiter, who commented that my husband was "still carrying the wine bottle" (he was going to take home any he didn't drink). I told the waiter that the Cherry Sorbet was fine with the rest of the dessert, to which he replied "Ok, Goodnight". However, we then sat in The Cove to watch the sunset, and eventually my husband went to the bar to ask for our drinks order, as no-one had come to the table. Overall, our opinions of the meal were positive, but there are some areas of Service that could be improved.

Went with a friend to the Cove Bar at the Deganwy Quay hotel several months after lockdown. Coffee served and when asked something to eat, meaning accompaniment to coffee, was told lunch is served from 12 noon. We were informed that they serve nothing with coffee because of present times but that it is something to look forward to in October when they plan to start serving snacks again! You are serving food, using crockery (not disposable ones) so you should be able to package and serve basic complimentary biscuits. Not even the expected glass of water with coffee offered, only after my friend got up to ask for it. Not good enough. Surely you can do better. Please do better.

While staying at the Quay hotel for 2 nights to celebrate my father’s birthday we ate at the ebb & flow restaurant for 1 evening meal & 2 breakfasts. We had booked the tables over the phone to ensure we ate at our preferred times. Evening meal, we waited by the entrance to the bar as per the signage however no one took any notice some chap in a suit came out from behind the bar then walked in the opposite direction, then Kate the restaurant manager I think came & showed us to our table who instructed us that we only had the table for 1 3/4 hours so had to make sure we were out for then, she then left the menus on the table for us, I asked to see the bar menu as there wasn’t anything on the menu online that I would eat which I had discussed over the phone when booking the table which I was told wasn’t a problem but now we were told we would have to eat in the bar if we were to eat off that menu, i explained that we were told we could over the phone but she didn’t have any of it. At this point I was ready to walk out. We ordered some drinks while we waited for our other guests to arrive, the drinks took a while to arrive. Luckily there was something I liked on the menu, surely it’s not too difficult to upload your latest menus on to your website as there seemed to be a standard menu plus a daily specials! The food was then ordered, they didn’t ask if any of us had any allergies which in this day & age you expect, a selection of bread with some oil but no explanation of what it was left at the table, what happened to having butter on your bread? The starters then came, which I didn’t have but they looked well presented & they said they were good. Eventually the plates were cleared, after a nap for 1/2 hour our mains were dropped at our table then waiter did a runner before we could ask for some vinegar &some mint sauce to go with the lamb. My fillet steak was dry & had been kept warm for a while & the plate was cold for £32 you expect it to be cooked perfectly. The others had lamb shanks but it didn’t seem much to accompany it so you may have to order some extras with it. A waiter did come & ask if everything was ok just as we were finishing my dad asked for some mint sauce then 5 minutes later a jug arrived which was gravy without any mint in it to go with the last mouthful of lamb. Time was going past slowly by now & our legs were hurting from being sat down for so long now. So on dessert which we ordered, my dad asked if they had any celery to go with the cheese however the waiter didn’t seem to know what celery was. After another 20 minutes or so the desserts arrived, mine arrived with all fruit over it which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. The meal took around 2 hours to complete which was too long especially after we we were told at the beginning to be quick. We have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions over the years & has gone down hill a lot, Kate is in the wrong job & shouldn’t be customer facing & didn’t make us welcome & the other staff lacked training which comes from the restaurant manager. The breakfast on the first day was ok, the bacon was brown though. The welcome was a lot better however by Anne. The other complaint was it didn’t seem very covid secure as everyone was handling the same spoons & knives for the fruit & using the toaster which I would think is a no no in this day & age you could easily take the hotel guests down with covid. The second day breakfast was better still with the bacon being bacon colour & was much better service also. In summary if you are staying at the quay hotel eat your breakfast in the restaurant but find somewhere else for your evening meal where you will receive some customer service.
