The Christmas lunch menu for vegans was vegetables, vegetables and more vegetables. One option for a main was an aubergine cutlet, that I dislike, and even though a nut roast is served on a Sunday, the cafe was not prepared to serve anything with protein. Vegans usually like well balanced cuisine and that a replacement for protein in vegan food is beans, lentils, nuts, avocado & quinoa. But none of that that was on offer. And, the vegetable meals cost the same as the choices given for carnivores! Most of the bread on a daily basis is white only therefore without any nutrition.

Afternoon tea- the service was very good, staff friendly and attentive. The afternoon tea comes with everything for one person on a platter which is not to my preference but not a huge issue. The two finger sandwiches were good and I would have enjoyed more. There was a selection of cakes, the nicest being the opera cake. They offer boxes to take away what you are unable to eat which is a nice touch. It was a nice afternoon : I had been there for tea two years ago and that was a great experience and the food then had been fabulous.

We came for lunch as the place was highly recommended by neighbours. It is a truly lovely location with splendid views - but I have to agree wholeheartedly with one of the earlier reviews that the food was a tad disappointing. It was lacking in imagination, little effort had been put into presentation and it was certainly over priced for what it was. We could also have done without a local barfly - who I am told haunts the hotel almost daily - leaning into our conversation to offer his unsolicited views on the state of the world, UK politics etc - with views not dissimilar to Basil Fawlty.

Popped in to get some lunch, small all day breakfast ÂŁ10 plus for 1 rasher of bacon 1 poor quality small sausage 1/2 tomato Few slices mushroom 1 fried egg 2 poor quality white bread toast. Place had a smell to it and I noticed slug trails on the carpet.

We were staying in a cottage close to St Asaph so get a taxi over to the pub to escape storm Bert on the Saturday afternoon. It was my 1st try of Lees beer and in the end I tried 3 or 4 of them. The regulars are friendly and the young lady behind the bar offered me a taste of some of the local beer to see if I liked it before trying pints.

Absolutely cracking food, would definitely be coming here a lot more, this place is truly a hidden gem! The two lovely ladies who were working today were amazing, lovely, kind and super friendly, Paige and Alison I think their names were. 10/10 would highly recommend!!

The staff are all lovely and the range of food from take-away baguettes to sit in breakfasts and dinners is top notch. It's very popular and because of this tables can fill up fast, so it's always a matter of lucky timing when you arrive.

Delicious baked goods. Chelsea buns are my favourite but the kids love the cakes and iced buns. We get our rolls and bread from Newells every time we visit Porthmadog, wish we had a bakery like it at home!

This place was recommended by a friend of mine when they visited Anglesey, warm welcome from the girls at the front before we sat down. Swiftly ordered drinks and food, coffees arrived quickly but the food service was slow (only ordered some tea cakes). We saw one of the girls took some tea cakes to another table who arrived after us, which took us at surprise as we were still waiting. After I while, I went to the front to ask if they were coming and was told that the chef had forgotten about it. The waitresses were very apologetic and we did receive them in the end after a long wait.

20.03.25 the warmest day of the year in Bala, 17 degrees! A trip to the Llyn for a spot of paddleboarding and a leisurely dog walk. The wonderful Woody's cafe on the lake was open so we called in for a snack. Always freshly prepared food here, lovely staff, efficient and smiling! Milly was made a fuss of and treats given by the waiter, always a hit with my dog. Very clean cafe, dog friendly inside too. Delicious toastie and jacket potato, hot coffee and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Love this place. Always met with a smile. Love the cakes, pasties, soups etc. Have been there for the cheese and charcuterie boards too. Coffee can sometimes be hit and miss but plenty of other hot drinks. Always leave with an extra cake or pasty to take home!
