Delicious baked goods. Chelsea buns are my favourite but the kids love the cakes and iced buns. We get our rolls and bread from Newells every time we visit Porthmadog, wish we had a bakery like it at home!

Reviewed this bakery last year, their custard donuts were the best ever. Couldn’t wait to buy them again, this year, and can confirm my original review still stands. Have also tried their lemon meringue pie and their Eccles cakes, this year. All I can say is WOW. The lemon meringue is just like Mum used to make and the Eccles cake reminded me of Miss Thomas, who had a bakery in Ruthin( Roberts and Thomas), where I had a Saturday job in the 60s. The best I have tasted since then. Stacks of currants in a crispy pastry, fat parcel. Their bread is also really good! Thank you so much.

We stopped off here to buy some treats before boarding the nearby steam train. Absolutely delicious cakes including a rhubarb and cherry slice, carrot cake and a fresh cream jam doughnut. All very fresh and full of flavour. They went down a treat, would highly recommend.

We went on a family trip to Porthmadog today and stopped by the bakery for a quick snack, in the early afternoon. 2 family members went in separately adhering to COVID restrictions allowing only one customer at a time and both experiences were similar in relation to the service, which supports that the poor service cannot have been an isolated incident. My family member was ignored upon entry and the assistant had to be called for attention despite being seen entering the shop and being the only customer in there. The only words that left the assistants mouth were the cost of the scones, which in my opinion “had seen better days” and were displayed in an unappealing manner in the shop window. Basically looked like they’d been thrown at the tray in the display as opposed to being presented neatly in an bid to make them look appealing. Payment in cash was taken with a look of disgust and change was received with the same grimace. There were no signs or requests to pay by card only, if this had been requested, we would have kindly accommodated. My experience was no better! I reviewed the slightly pathetic selection of pasties and savoury options and settled for purchasing what I was told upon enquiry were 2 steak bakes. I was handed a bag with two stone cold pasties and asked if they could be heated up. I agreed to pay the extra 20p and In front of my eyes and to my disbelief, the two pasties were basically thrown in the microwave in the same bag and heated. I was given an extra paper bag to transfer the overheated pasty myself. By the time I retrieved the pasties they were hot, soggy and the bottom one emerged looking like a flat pack wardrobe from IKEA. The top one was barely edible, the bottom one was inedible and there was not one single piece of steak or meat to be seen. To be frank we were not expecting silver service as it was a bakery (quick, cheap, basic food) but a friendly welcome and something that looked somewhat appealing would have been nice. I’m so shocked that a person that works daily with people and is meant to have basic people skills let alone customer service skills could be so rude and unwelcoming. I’ve never written a review before but this experience was so terrible it had to be done!

We bought sour dough loaf and baguette which looked delicious, although I noticed the loaf was very heavy and flat. All the bread was dense and flat - caused probably by high-heat cooking or not being sufficiently proved. It was totally inedible and went out to the birds. Most disappointed.

If you're after speciality breads, then you will find all you want here. We bought some spelt and some extra dark rye bread which were amazing. It's also the perfect place for tea, coffee and cakes. Prices are amazingly low, but the produce is amazingly high quality.

Excellent range of baked goods and the best Barabrith we have ever had. And I have had a few. At the time we visited they did not take cards so bring cash, I suggest you first do reconnaissance as the range is vast, then go to the cash point.

The cakes and bread are baked close by at Criccieth and come in fresh each day - people start waiting for it should the van be later than usual. There is a variety of different types of loaf for which people living at a distance come in and buy several to freeze. You'll find traditional cakes - donuts, custard tarts, scones, cream cakes all at reasonable prices. Its loved by the locals and at one time Newell's had a cafe next door now sadly gone. Great asset to the town and an independent trader.

We stopped here for breakfast twice, having been disappointed by the service at another establishment. The breakfast rolls are tasty, especially the sausages, and both the tea and coffee were good. Fair prices and very friendly service. Outdoor seating where you can eat your food whilst enjoying the beautiful views of Llanberis and its surroundings. Also does delicious cakes, milkshakes and hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been served that.

On a recent visit to Barmouth we found this little Gem of a place that is open on Sundays. There was a special board out side and it was the Cheese and Onion pie that drew us in . Both my husband and me had this and it came with new potatoes and salad . It was delicious and very reasonably priced . We were naughty and were too tempted by the delicious homemade sweets and puds they had to offer . I had the jam and coconut cake and my husband opted for the apple pie. They were presented lovely with fruit and a pot of cream on the side. The staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning next time we are in Barmouth
