The Barmouth Bar and Grill in Gwynedd

Food was lovely and girl behind bar was very attentive, thought it was a little expensive but we needed food and couldn't find anywhere else doing full meals at 3.30 in the afternoon so we're limited. When we went into the pub there was only bar staff and chef in there so we were the only customers, a couple more people came in and they were all young so us 60+ felt it was aimed at the younger generation so we finished our meal and left.

Nice atmosphere, but food a little expensive for frozen ingredients. Cod and fries now being served. Not cod and chips. Doesn't seem to go together. Very expensive at nearly £16, for frozen food. Nice staff and friendly place.

Stopped off in Barmouth for a couple of hours and popped in for a bite to eat. We were warmly welcomed, and the food was lovely. Didn't take long from placing the order to when our food arrived.

Excellent little find - we didn't want fine dining but just good quality pub food and this is what we found! We didn't book but they found us a table and we ordered battered prawns and spring rolls (two massive ones) and a t-bone steak and the homemade kebabs. The quality was brilliant along with the friendly welcome and service. We were on a child free night away but the kids menu was great and families were dining. It is a proper pub but with fantastic quality food. For the prices we expected frozen prawns but they were hand battered and plump. The t-bone was cooked perfectly and the kebab so generous I didn't touch my fries. Excellent all round.

We spotted this "pub" whilst walking through the town in the day and with The Last Inn fully booked we tried here. What a find! The pub was busy but they found us a table and we ordered battered prawns and spring roll (which was two massive ones) the barmaid explained they don't serve starters with a gap for mains unless you order at two different times but we said we would have everything at the same time. My husband ordered T-bone and I had the homemade kebabs. It was all amazing- freshly battered prawns and my kebab was do big with pitta, salad and coleslaw that I couldn't eat my fries. They said there was a wait on food which was fine as we were having drinks. The food was excellent and service was fab. This deserves more promotion than it had. We didn't find it when we googled "restaurants near me" bit so glad we did. Reasonable price and great for families and couples. Thanks.

Food was lovely and staff welcoming and friendly

Table for 16 booked easily on a Saturday evening. Excellent service, delicious food and great value. So good we visited again for Sunday lunch the following day.

Gad the special, tandoori chicken, cooked beautifully. Served with some salad and fries. Took long enough to know it was cooked to order but very prompt. nice atmosphere, young lady who served us was very pleasant and polite.

Food was lovely second time we have eaten there not been disappointed.

We had looked at The Barmouth @ Grill on google maps. The food looked great. My gammon was lovely, but, to serve a childs portion of 2 sauages and fries at 7.95 is shocking. The service was poor, just young kids who didnt care. The man who brought the food was kind and professional. The bar staff are young and dismissive.

We went here last night (3rd Jan) for a bite to eat. When we walked in I asked whether they were serving food, to which the woman grunted they were, then I asked whether it was dog friendly to which I got a similar grunt. The food was very nice, I had the lamb kofta which was delicious and fairly priced. The young woman who brought our food out was very friendly. It was a good experience but the woman who was working was pretty miserable and didn’t really make us feel welcome.

We went for late lunch not to busy very clean had amazing fish platter son had an enormous burger and daughter in law had chicken wrap very hot food delicious and very full thank you and is dog friendly 🐶👍

Chicken burger was basically a Birdseye special for 16 quid

Very nice food. Had the chicken burger. Food delivered in a good time. Atmosphere was good. Monday is not too busy. Good selection of drinks and friendly staff.

Booked a table 6pm on Saturday night, bar was relatively quiet. Service from the bar was good and friendly. There were 11 of us eating, meals came quickly and the food was good and hot.

The only 2 things that let this pub down,no disabled access ,my partner had to lift my mobility scooter up a large step just to get through door,only then too be greeted with another step inside.food menu in my opinion was over priced for a pub,only a handful of people inside.the young barman was very polite and friendly.great playlist on Spotify playing.bring your menu prices down.especially when Barmouth has no weatherspoons to offer families or people who are on a budget.

Great beer and food, lovely staff will definitely be back again

We arrived on a Saturday evening without booking but the very friendly staff managed to find a slot for us. Great quality food without much of a wait washed down with a perfect pint of Staropramen. Really liked the vibe and decor, and would recommend the place to groups or couples. My 12 year old was with us and was made to feel very welcome - he loved his custom Halloween drink! Would visit again if we're back in Barmouth.

Cider/beer in tap was all flat and when I tried to sort this with the bar the customer service was dreadful. I bought three drinks in the end to find something that was drinkable which cost me £10! Food was not fresh, mostly cold and poor quality (battered fish seemed like the stuff you buy at Iceland and keep in the freezer, even though they have access to fresh seafood from the harbour!!!). And it was all massively overpriced, we could have had fine dining quality food in Barmouth for not much more money.

Good food, good service and great staff

We had a lovely meal here tonight, all our meals were very good, good portions for the money, certainly not ripped off. Good was cooked well and nice and fresh too. Recommend it to anyone who wants good basic food.

Visited twice in a week, can not fault it! And I don't mind admitting that I'm a but of a food snob. 8 different meals over 2 visits and every one was spot on. Chicken burgers are very good, as are the pan fried sea bass and the chicken tika masala. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, prices are what I'd expect to pay for very good pub grub. Definitely recommend, we'll 100% be returning. We'll done guys 👏

Great food, quick service and very reasonable. The only reason for giving 3 stars for atmosphere was that it was dead in there. However it was a Monday evening, I'm sure it's more lively later in the week and over weekends.

I came in for lunch on Friday and ordered the Barbouth Burger. The food was good, but a considering this is a bar and grill - I did feel like what should be the signature burger did let the side down. I've had a welsh beef burger several times from different establishmens, all of which the patty have been thicker. However it was a very well made burger and all the ingredients were fresh - but I was a bit disappointed given the price and name of this grill. The decor Is nice, slightly rustic and plenty of tables. I can imagine it gets busy at time. The service was good, and the wait on the food was about 15 minutes. Deffo worth a visit if your hungry.

What lovely attentive and fun staff. So friendly and helpful, with amazing service. Live music was on when we visited as a group of friends, and Liam was great! Food was also lovely and quick service. Thank you for having us!

Approached the restaurant to be left standing in the doorway for an extended period of time while the front of house staff gossiped with her friend behind the bar. Then lead to a table crammed into the corner of the restaurant with food debris and spilled drinks clearly on the floor beneath. We asked to move to another table and the front of house staff bluntly said no. Then 2 minutes later returned to advise we could move to another table. The next table was equally filthy. Admittedly it had been wiped with a cloth leaving greasy sticky marks over the top surface. The small shelf/ledge to the offside of the table was thick with dust and an occasional dead bluebottle. Looking around the once white skirting boards were thick with grease and marks of varying nature. Overall the place was filthy and staff rude. Can not comment on food as I would not allow anything cooked in that building to pass my lips.

Group meal for 20 people, food came out promptly, at the same time and was fresh and hot. Staff helpful, beef burgers were thick, meaty and tasty

We've just had lunch here and I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It was all home cooked, tasty and very well presented. Great choice for lunch thanks.

Visited as one of the few restaurants open on a Monday in Barmouth. Very impressed. Was expecting a generic Chicken Burger for refuelling but got a very tasty dish: salted crispy fries, creamy coleslaw and a tender well seasoned chicken with good quality bun seasoned with black pepper. Somebody cares about detail in the kitchen. Staff were friendly, efficient and busy.

We often call here for a meal. Always reliable food. On this occasion however on ordering our food, we decided to order two items from the nibbles menu as starters, followed by our mains. On requesting the two nibbles dishes as starters, I was told that we couldn't do that, as the kitchen doesn't work like that! The nibbles dishes will come out with your mains! Don't quite get the logic in this, so we just ordered our mains. Turning extra trade away isn't good business practice in my opinion! That said our mains dishes were fine.

We were in Barmouth for a four day break and returned home yesterday (08.09.23). On Thursday evening we enjoyed a superb meal in this venue. I had the sea bass and my hubby had the gammon meal (the latter was a very large portion). The bar staff/servers were very welcoming and pleasant, The ambiance of the venue was nice and it was clean. Will definitely go back to the venue when we are next in Barmouth. Could not find fault with anything. Well done Barmouth Bar and Grill.

Brilliant. Good food, friendly staff.

We visited here for food. The food was nice and fresh however the service had a lot to be desired. A smile goes a long way. It felt like you were a bit of a hindrance and the staff didnt really want to be there. Shame really as we would have returned if it wasn't for that.

It's great tasty food for reasonable prices. Relaxed atmosphere with polite helpful staff.

One of the tastiest burgers I've had in a very long time! Not just me but everyone else agreed thier Chicken Burgers were amazing too! Staff were lovely, atmosphere was nice, toilets were clean. Highly, highly recommended 👍🏻

We had an excellent birthday meal here. They accommodated 15 of us with ease, the food came out quickly and was hands down delicious. Not a single negative and everything cooked to perfection. Our compliments to the chef, Barmouth bar and grill you are nailing it, well done!

The food was excellent and the delivery of the food was swift. All orders are taken at the bar. The only thing that let the overall experience down, was the lady who greeted us. Never have I been greeted by a more rude person. She had a face like a wet weekend and didn’t even acknowledge us when we left. She walked straight past us. The rest of the staff were fine.

Fantastic food, we took our children in for a meal we all enjoyed our food... we had a drink spillage by one of our children staff helped the clean up, nothing was to much trouble.. friendly helpful and great food

If this pub was a song it would be Live Forever by Oasis. Loud, brash and unrepentant, it's a place you go and accept it on it's terms. Not for the meek and mild. Competent staff dressed in nothing but black will see you right. An ok selection of food on offer but mostly aimed at the carnivorous crowd. Food was of decent quality. Dog friendly.

Always visit here whenever we're in barmouth. We both had the gammon and to be honest I couldn't fault it. Everything was cooked to perfection. It was nice and quiet when we went in, early evening. Always spotlessly clean, toilets are immaculate....what more do I need to say Thank you and see you soon

Booked a table for 9 friends and 1 dog earlier in the afternoon and sure enough when we got there at 7.30 there was a large table reserved with my name - a nice touch. Service was very efficient and friendly, the menu had something for everyone. The food came reasonably quickly and everyone was happy with their chosen meals. Hot and delicious, good portion sizes, I had sea bass with fresh veg on crushed new potatoes with a caper sauce, very tasty. One of our party had prawn linguine which he said was very spicy but again, delicious. Once everyone finished the table was cleared efficiently and a couple of us had room for desert also didn't disappoint. We weren't rushed to leave the table and enjoyed an hour there with drinks and chat. All in all a lovely evening.

This restaurant was really nice, plenty of tables to choose from when we went which was a Thursday evening at around 7:30pm. A good menu with plenty of choice. I had a burger which was lovely and my partner had a chicken kebab, however this didn’t come with any form of sauce so was a bit dry. Generally though, good food, good service and decent price.

We had lunch at the barmouth with the 2 little ones the food and drink was lovely a bit on the expensive side but £48 for lunch 1 x kids meal 1 x garlic bread 1x streak chibatta 2 alcohol drink

Visited on a Sunday in June. We booked in advance to be on the safe side as it can get busy. Food was nice although not the cheapest. Friendly staff, good selection of drinks and a decent menu to choose from. It's dog friendly too which is good. Will definitely return when in the area.

Fish platter came with raw prawns. When brought to the barman's attention, he said "ahh right, okay", before walking off. No apology, no replacement, no discount, nothing. Poor food, poor service.

I had the pork belly bites and chips, they were absolutely delicious tender and melt in the mouth. My partner had the Barmouth burger.... Wow! Just wow! Genuinely don't think I've tasted a burger like that! Mind blown! 11/10!

Had a lovely meal here last week in holiday. The chicken burger was immense and the kids meals were also great. They catered well for my daughters gluten intolerance too.

Had supper here last nigh which was excellent, we visited as a result of a previous visit during a stay at Barmouth 5 yrs ago. excellent food and great service. highly recommended.

Popped in for a quick pint, youngish lady was not very welcoming, stated we must sit at a certain table and was quite abrupt serving us, seemed quite off and rude… decided not to spend any more money for a meal in this establishment. 0/10 won’t be visiting again.

Couldn't get the table we booked, as people where allowed dogs in the fine dining are. Not good, smelly dogs and evening meal don't mix. Shame nice place good people

This place is lush! A very cool vibe, super friendly staff. I had the fillet steak and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked, melt in the mouth. Even the fries were sublime! The wine was also very tasty! I will definitely be back. Dog friendly too. 5 stars because fab in all ways. Thanks guys 🙏🏽👌🏽👍🏼

Nice place worth visiting for a drink and bite to eat

My wife and I popped in on the off chance they had a table free.. and by luck they did. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and good size portions.. in fact we were that impressed with the place and food we went back the following night for another meal. When we return to barmouth we will definitely be making another trip to The Barmouth Bar @ Grill.

Lovely hosts!! Beautifully clean!! The big fat burger I had & the wife's vegan Penang curry was delicious! So much so, we've booked to go again later in the week!!
